Thank you! I was surprised to see how big a Tomcat really is. It's comparable to a B-17 flying fortress almost in size and weight!! Crazy big yet nimble for a fighter!

Incredible . I want to do this as a ride along option instead of piloting this way (for now lol) . My twin brother is in a wheelchair and this would be the closest thing he could experience to flying . I am an avid rc pilot and builder so yes I can fly . I have the freewing 90mm F-22 and love it . Bet it would be a great candidate for EDF . But for the ride along an 80" ws Spacewalker is what I have on hand . The reason I am saying all this is I need to know what to buy for this . Thanks so much for sharing not only beautiful planes and footage but also great piloting skills !
Timothy, we all start with ride alongs on every new planes as well. I trim out each FPV plane initially flying line of sight conventionally. Then after installing FPV equipment, I would ask a friend to ride along in FPV while I again fly in LOS to the far corners of our field to see if there are any problems in reception/poor visuals. Then I would do approaches and landings and record the onboard footage for review to familiarize myself what the views should look like for initial FPV flight. Then after all that, I would do the first FPV flight. Following these steps, I have not lost a plane or even a minor mishap in the 3 years of flying FPV. The only crash I have suffered are times when I get cocky and do stupid stuff like flying through tree gaps. You can follow similar steps to get started flying FPV as well. Space walker sounds like a great candidate for FPV. And it is certainly big enough to carry two FPV systems that both you and and your brother can each control independent head-tracker camera and do a actual tandem training flight. But starting out with one FPV system to see if you like it would be good. Here’s a list of what to get: DJI Digital FPV Goggles: www.getfpv.com/dji-fpv-goggles-v2.html DJI Digital FPV Air unit fpvdogfight.com/products/dji-digital-fpv-air-unit-by-caddxfpv Motionsic BAG - BadAss Gimbal fpvdogfight.com/products/motionsic-b-a-g-badass-gimbal Head-tracker medlin-drone-store.myshopify.com/products/pre-built-head-tracker
These are great. Have you considered building a "cockpit" pod so you can fly with stick and rudder pedals, left hand throttle etc.? You would probably have to pull apart a controller for the individual parts that control each function. It might also soften the control inputs resulting in smoother flight.
What an amazing video! Looking too often your videos, I know your environment better than mine! but since I got my Motionsic head tracking yesterday, must install on my Viper or L39 to try to do the same!

jean hoepers311 The original Ocusync - DJI RE Goggle combo is not worth it. But the DJI FPV is good! With the right antennae, the image in goggles is much better than the best analog system, no question. And it goes for a 2km at least, and much farther with better antenna.

wow! very nice build! mind telling me the motor you used and the edf size?
New Freewing F-14 coming in PNP will have upgraded 9 blade fans with in-runner motors with similar performance as this one. Same powers system as the one used in the camera jet - FW T-33 80mm EDF.
@@motionsic cool! thanks man!
What battery are you using for the camera?
I used a 3S 450mAh to power the air unit initially. But changed to a small 12V BEC to save weight: www.ebay.com/itm/253714881765?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=253714881765&targetid=1262749491342&device=m&mktype=&googleloc=9031532&poi=&campaignid=15428034462&mkgroupid=133947154481&rlsatarget=pla-1262749491342&abcId=9300763&merchantid=108350853&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh8tbTzyUUnFqRuGTsgzFUcTJ&gclid=CjwKCAjw_tWRBhAwEiwALxFPof9EbNcaMmfcGgCJ6hMbpvVAQcoPiNCXlpZw-rIJNh5rlosu6DxEmxoCEQ0QAvD_BwE
@@motionsic awesome! So that battery will run a caddx polar? How long?
@@trevob123 20 minutes, so two flights with reserve…
Man this is a classic. Is this bird still flying ?
Sure. Has not crashed yet!
hello everyone ! this is your daily dose of internet
Subbed, hard at work trying to source parts to get the DJI system head tracking. Can you point me in the right direction for the headtracker unit your are using?
I use Fatshark Trinity external Trinity head-tracker. You can do DIY following Painless 360 DIY video using Arduino Nano BLE boards. The pan & tilt camera mount you can buy from me. I am releasing in the next few weeks…
@@motionsic tnx bud, what i need is the head tracker unit for the DJi that nobody is making def not something I wanted to DIY. so you use the Fatshark tracker on the digital goggles?
Yes!
friend, ask me a question, is it worth buying the dji ocusync? I'm thinking of buying, can you get very far with this ocusync? the image on the eyeglass, is it really good? in hd?
jean hoepers311 The original Ocusync - DJI RE Goggle combo is not worth it. But the DJI FPV is good! With the right antennae, the image in goggles is much better than the best analog system, no question. And it goes for a 2km at least, and much farther with better antenna.
@@motionsic
thank you friend
Amazing.. anyone who down voted this is a liar
Is the f14 a kit or custom built? Great video
It’s a PNP EDF jet made by Freewing, available at Motion RC in the US.
How fast can these planes go? What is the range as well? Are we seeing actual footage of what is seen in the headset?
They can do about 100MPH in level speed? More in a dive. And yes, the in cockpit visuals are similar to what we see in the goggles.
You couldn't use the canopy lid?
Ok to fly, not clear enough to see wingman for formation flying.
@@motionsic I understand now why. It does make sense. I would probably rather fly that way too to make sure I don't crash the plane because of the canopy or canopy bars being in my way.
@@larsulrich3356 we did fly it with the canopy, not quite as enjoyable. check it out: th-cam.com/video/3onAQY6LqN8/w-d-xo.html
Manufacturers should improve quality of canopies...
What head tracking unit did you use on the dji goggles?
Fatshark Trinity External Head-tracker for these flights, then.
Hi guys. Is it possible to create two ejections seats for the tomcat in order to redemonstrate the scene where Goose breaks his neck during ejection? Please use Playmobil if possible. RIP Goose, you were a good aviator.
Yes, possible but not very motivated to do it though. Goose had his time...
@@motionsic Thanks for answer. And now I am speaking from all the people here, Goose we miss you!!!!
How did you do it so that when you turn your head, the camera on the plane also turns
Жека 123 It’s called head-tracking. We used Fatshark Trinity External head-tracker. To do this. See video: th-cam.com/video/yFJ1b_IuxUo/w-d-xo.html
where is the canopy on the Tomcat?
Pilot pull ejection lever, but seat rocket did not ignite, LOL. Seriously though, stock canopy clarity sucks, can’t see lead plane in formation flying through it, so it has to be taken off
