Something I like about the Simpsons is it’s not to “adult,” (compared to “South Park,” “Family Guy,” etc.) but it’s also not to child friendly (compared to Cartoon Network, etc.).
They’ve made plenty of good episodes even in the 2000’s seasons. I’m just glad that there’s some people who acknowledge the good ones. Thanks for the recommendations.
There's a thing I've seen called "phantom Simpson seasons". Essentially the guy says if you simply cobble together the best episodes of seasons 9 and 10, the two fit into one great season 9. With this, people started cobbling together a phantom season 10 and 11 and so on. The problem was that there started to be less and less great episodes per season. Last time I checks the phantom seasons ended at a phantom season 17.
I will die on the hill that "Days Of Future Past" is one of the best Simpsons episodes from any era. That scene with Bart and Lisa drunk on wine in the treehouse having a sibling moment is as funny as it is heartwarming. I just hope whenever the series finale does happen, it is close to that in quality.
@@wolfgalaxy9086 yeah I knew the story about it being a possible series finale and it certainly has that feel. Ironically it was like with Futurama. While I'm glad it is back on, again. It is a double edged sword as "Meanwhile..." with Leela and Fry growing old together was so perfect.
I'm on you with this one I love the reaching to new ideas and I love the parodys they do like the Roblox one the sweating was out putting as I was watching the Simpsons and it's pretty early teen friendly and late pre teens but I still loved it and the sweating was of putting not bad
I will die on the hill that the song the meltdown or “me me you three and Maggie” is one of the best songs in years and the episode afterwards also has an amazing song I think season 34 was truly one of the best seasons in years
I truly have been happy with how The Simpsons have been these past seasons! It feels more and more like the writters have been paying attention to the characters, the setups, and even continuity to a point! It's almost as if many of them are starting to care about the work they're attached to instead of just adding it to the resume for say they wrote for The Simpsons!❤
I saw the lockdown episode quite recent loved Marge seething about Maggie's hyperfixation on Ranch and I liked how animalistic the catapillars looked especially with the little moving mandibles.
I loved this episode. I think people were too quick to dismiss it for being "years too late" but that's not the point. It wasn't trying to be timely. It was trying to be a humourous examination of what it felt like to be locked down, years after the fact.
The new episodes are so underrated. I love Moe and Maya’s relationship, I hope that they have more episodes because I’d love to see how far they would go.
Bartless was such a highlight of the latest season. It had the potential to feel really spiteful toward Bart, but managed to turn it around and show why he makes the Simpson family feel whole. Very sweet episode. Carl Carlson Rides Again struck a chord with me too.
Comic book guys and moes story’s are ones I actually hope they really push forward with characters. Sadly they seem to have once again forgot about them
Seasons 33 and 34 severely remind me of seasons 1 and 2. They had heartwarming moments, and Homer was not being a jerkass whatsoever. Although I haven't seen seasons 1, 33 and 34 in full yet, they already look pretty good!
They're moving in a very interesting direction. My big hang-up is that it's felt very referential, which means it will soon feel very dated. Whereas up through the mid '10s I thought most episodes had a timeless quality to them. But I've noticed that less and less through the last two or three seasons.
I love how genuine and heartfelt these newer episodes are. The only thing I miss is the rebellious satire. The jokes just really aren't the same but other than that I love the show even after all these years.
The problem I have with modern Simpsons episodes isn't so much that they're "bad", it's that most of them are forgettable, they lack staying power. Even if an episode is bad, it can be remembered for being bad, like how many fans still pick apart "Lisa Goes Gaga". As bad as that episode is widely considered, it is at least remembered for something, even if it is in a negative context. I stopped watching the show loyally after season 13 but out of curiosity I recently binged seasons 14 through 20 and by the end I think I could only remember the plots and jokes of about 3 episodes in total. The fact that many of us can still quote the Mr. Plow theme or laugh when they think about Homer daydreaming he's in the Land of Chocolate shows the strength of the writing during the Golden Age, which gave us consistently great episodes one after another. Sure, there are some gems in recent seasons as seen in this video but for every great modern episode there's about 20 forgettable or bad ones that make viewers feel like it isn't worth the effort anymore.
my friends get irritated with me because, no matter what happens, i'm like, "there's a 'simpsons' about that!!" of course, i have seen every episode multiple times, like hundreds, if not thousands, of times (it's on my tv right now), so that's probably why i remember so many episodes and quotes. 😝 long live the simpsons, eternally in syndication!!
are you sure the reason those golden age episodes stuck in your head so well isn't _because_ you watched them religiously because you enjoyed them so much? i mean, it's weird comparing how well you remember episodes you watched a ton of times to how well you remember episodes you watched in a six-season binge (also, honestly, while the mr. plow _episode_ is great, the mr. plow _theme_ is just an earwormy jingle that's hardly some masterpiece of clever writing; it's not even satirical of jingles, it just literally is one :P)
@@Idran Perhaps "religiously" was the wrong word to use, maybe "loyally" instead. Remember that there are entire generations of viewers who weren't even born when the Golden Age first aired and would have grown up watching seasons 13+ when they were children, yet we don't really see them quoting from those episodes like the older fans do. Again, this comes down to staying power, in that while someone like me can only really recall a small handful of memorable episodes from season 13-20, there are fans who can recall entire season's worth of gags, jokes, and plots from the classic era.
I agree. Seems like people either hate the new stuff or defend it. There have been some good episodes, but there hasn't been anything I've really considered great in a long time. When the show came out, it was considered edgy. It isn't edgy anymore. You can't keep the quality up over such a long period; you just can't. People don't want to admit it, but it's just the reality of the situation.
Personally, I'm 41 and can name tons of great episodes from season 13-20. Seasons 1 and 2 weren't great, IMO, and I think most people saying the early season had all the good moments are basing that solely on nostalgia. I didn't start watching the simpsons until my mid-20s, so I don't have the same sort of youthful nostalgia for the show, and I would argue seasons 13-19 have tons of 5-star episodes
i stopped watching the simpsons around season 20. but now i started watching from 20 onward (because i simply can not bring myself to rewatch the office, big bang theory, breaking bad, parks and rec and curb your enthusiasm for the millionth time) and i gotta say.... its not bad. yes, some episodes are really hit and miss but....im on season 30 now and it isnt nearly as bad as people make it out to be. you just gotta get into it with the right mindset and take it for what it is. at the end of the day, its a cartoon (not gonna change your life or anything)
My problem with modern simpsons is mostly the stiff character poses lol. I think they're phasing out of this period, but it was family guy levels of a still character model only blinking and moving their mouths to talk, with stock repeated movements. It's like when a live action show has good writing but the bad acting ruins the whole thing. So many classic simpsons moments get the comedy from the characters expression lol, it makes the jokes land and the characters more interesting. Recently it's been looking like it was animated by AI. Just like every other modern cartoon. They need better storyboarders or whoever is in charge of that shi lol. Also the older colour palettes were more diverse and gorgeous but I can see why they moved away from their early "experimental" style. I think Moe and Smithers should have found love inside the show, like they've done before with Flanders and Edna etc, instead of new characters being introduced cause it over complicates something that should be more simple.
Drew Gooden explored this with SNL and his final thoughts were that, it’s not that the new seasons are bad it’s that people yearn for how they felt when they watched to old seasons. I love the new seasons but older ones will always be my favorite because I have such fond memories over watching them when I was little. More people need to realize though nostalgia won’t make new things bad because this show gets better with every episode
Um no the old seasons actually had structure to them. Everything after season 8 is low effort one dimensional garbage handled by new garbage pc writers who took over passionate writers work.
Last time someone said modern Simpsons didn't suck I tuned into an episode where they tried to make Grandpa gay. How modern are we talking for an actual good episode?
Damn, more than 40 years and people still talk about that hospital in St Elsewhere turning out to be a snow globe and an autistic child's vivid imagination on screen. Somehow even Cheers is there.
My issue is there's toooooo many 1 time characters I don't want to see another episode were Bart has a new teacher, Mr Smithers, Patty, Selma, even Bart and Lisa in a new relationship or meets a new friend. More story time on other characters like the bumble b man, sideshow Mel, Dr. Nick Rivera, Mr Largo, lunch lady Doris, cookie kwan
Dam straight! The reason why never hate the Simpsons is because prediction and yes that happens to me especially when am sleeping future things and it happens :0 and not just that THEY have every personality of each character in the show
I like modern Simpsons, but the only thing i dont like is when an episode is all about a celebrity that appears to be more like an Sponsored cartoon than a simpson show
My Guess why Fans dislike The New Simpsons because The Simpsons was met to be Funny. The New Simpsons focus on Characters getting along each other. I respect this, I’m just get Into The Simpsons for Treehouse of Horror these Days.
I think nostalgia and denial has blinded a lot of people into going into modern simpsons with a pessimistic attitude and into the classics with rose tinted glasses. Whilst there have been some shockers as a whole the last 5 years have been pretty on par… lets not forget that whilst they will always be iconic the first 10 seasons did have a few catastrophic stinkers
I mean that's the thing, there aren't catastrophic stinkers, unless we're talking the often discussed dips in quality during seasons 9 & 10. There's some average ones and some accounting for personal taste, but the most disliked episode of the first several seasons is a clip show as they're always dismissed as lazy.
You joined at the best time! Fell out of love in 2009 with the Margerine episode (missed the Lady Gaga whining) seen the Zombie Simpsons vid of Super Wolfpatch summerising what I missed, loved the FG and Futurama crossovers, real life took over and now I'm watching The Simpsons again like is the early 2000s. So far I'm loving this repainted train.
its a really weird experience to be a simpsons fan who sees value in every era of the show, because nearly everywhere i look theres always a ton of people talking about how much they hate modern simpsons. like ive been watching and rewatching episodes from basically every era for about a month now, and ive just been having a pretty consistantly good time throughout, regardless of whether i was watching an episode of season 3 or season 30. like yeah they feel different, but i still like it edit a few months later: i was just thinking, and i wonder if this has to do with the fact that i have a soft spot for pretty much every era of the simpsons. like im legally obligated to feel nostalgic for the first 9 seasons, then i watched the teens seasons and the movie as a little kid, watched the early 20s seasons on ondemand when i was like 10 to 11, fell into the simpsons in a fandom-y way when i was like 13 to 15 and watched the late 20s seasons (as well as my mutual's episode edits on tumblr), then i watched seasons 30-32 when the pandemic started and found a lot of comfort in those seasons during such a time, and now ive been watching seasons 33-onward. its really hard for me to hate any era of the simpsons considering how much sentimental value basically all of them have to me (obviously i dislike specific episodes, but not whole seasons/sets of seasons), which is probably why im so leanient towards eras of the show that people tend to dislike, especially the "modern" seasons. yeah they're not perfect and they're pretty different to the classic era, but i still think they're neat
You think a lot of people who says that "New Simpsons sucks" because of the seasons where a lot of episodes DID suck? In a lot of things there's always hills/peaks and valleys! I would like the new eps, if I had a way to watch it!
"pixelated and afraid" became my all time favorite episode the moment it aired. 💕 i can't imagine loving any episode more than i love that one. but, was the lego episode within this time period? because that one is really good, too, exploring a parent's dread at their children growing up and away from them. oh! and i thought the "quilloughby" episode was deliciously dark and satirical!! 😎 thank you for all your hard work!! this was as much fun to watch as a "simpsons" episode!! ☺️
Lol nobody wants that after how terrible the film was. They mention this in several other of Matt's projects. Was a rip off of a bad Stephen King book( Matt's best friend and band mate)
As a person who has watched the Simpson’s since season one on TV I can say these past 10+ years have been bad and this past yeah really bad. You can pour a TON of perfume on a pile of $&*t it’s still a pile of $&*t! The Simpson’s used to regularly grow roses as whole episodes but lately it only occasionally grows ordinary flowers and those are within an episode not a whole episode. Simpson’s used to buck culture now it conforms to culture. Yeah there have always been cultural references but the show was going against the norm not enforcing the norm. How are the Simpson’s today different than the popular shows of the 50’s and early 60’s that reinforced the cultural norms of their day??? Lots of people love to talk about how bad it was to have shows reinforcing the cultural values of the day.
I love how the best episodes in the past 3 seasons have all either been character studies with emotional moments that change the way we think about people in the show, or non-canon insane roller coaster rides of episodes that are some of the most creative the show’s been in years.
I agree Lydia! These episodes have been fantastic lately! Some of my all-time favorites! I have you and this channel to thank for that. Your passion convinced me to get back, caught up with the Simpsons!
Wow! I can’t believe how much has changed. I must have stopped regularly watching The Simpsons 10 years or so and then just occasionally watching an episode if there was enough buzz around an episode and then altogether just stopped a couple years ago. After watching this video, it sounds like there’s a lot I can catch up on. I’m especially looking forward to that Serious Ned Flanders episode. Great video! 👍
The period from seasons 20-30 really soured me on 'Modern Simpsons' I had just finished watching seasons 1-9 as a teen around when season 20 aired and seeing that and the lists of famously bad episodes really bummed me out. Really glad to see they've got writers now that a give a damm about the characters. I will now go and give some of these new episodes post S31 a watch to see for myself.
Let's be honest Flexi, Disney buying Fox and acquiring TS rights and executive control was the best thing to ever happen to the show since the movie in 2007. The life Disney brought to the show is unbelievable. I can fairly say that Zombie Simpsons time is officially over Edit: Apologises Lydia I thought the Flexi tag was an old username lololol
It has nothing to do with Disney. All that happened is that they changed showrunner for the first time in 20 years. For context, the first 12 seasons had 5 showrunner eras, seasons 13 to 32 had the same showrunner, Al Jean. Al Jean is not a bad writer but everything goes stale after 20 years. Now Matt Selman has taken over (after co-showrunning from 31 onwards) and it feels fresh because it is fresh. Disney had nothing to do with it, since Selman has working there since 1997.
@@falconeshieldthe simpsons had more than enough money through fox. That's why Disney wanted it. How did disney make the simpsons any more popular or accessible?
@@phlpcockrellDisney+. More kid friendly appeal. Fresher plotlines. Better animation. And probably improved pay for the main voice actors. Didn't hear drama like the Futurama revival when the acquisition happened. One thing I'm unaware of is if they're still making DVDs of the seasons or not. Blueray definitely. No Spanish Inqui--
@@falconeshield They did nothing other than not cancel it. The Simpsons has always had money, it's a big money maker, and the Simpsons was already accessible through Hulu. This would've happened with or without them. They also didn't improve the animation or the pay (more than they're contractually obligated to do every year). What you perceive as an improvement in animation is just the new show runner. And to answer the question, there's never been a Season on Bluray, just the movie, and they stopped releasing it on DVD after S20.

I feel like the new balance of experimental episodes with ones that still focus on the family helped to elevate the quality for me. Hell, even episodes like Flanders' Ladder from Season 29 have proved this, showing this uptick in quality had likely been in the works for a while. The last 2 seasons are definitely worth checking out at least.
I watched a single episode and I can for sure say… I have never wanted to kill my self more in any moment in my entire life, family guy has better jokes and writing now.
It would be a shame that they stop at 850 or 900 episode i don't care there are some hidden diamonds in this like lisa episode when Marge saids something to upset lisa about her weight and it was about how words simple little ones can hurt but didn't and would never hurt her like that ❤ Keep Up the Good Work Lyida Simpsons Theory 🎉
It was implied by the TS staff and Groening they might finish at Season 40. I'd be 39 (late 89ner) so it would be a fitting way to embrace my fourth decade on the planet, lol.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t one of those people who said, “Modern Simpsons Suck”. I did go off it for a long time due to the direction it was going with elements like Jerkass Homer, Flanderisation and the silly stories (jockey elves). But I have come across some recent episodes that really do feel like a return to form. I watched the Halloween of Horror episode and that moment where Homer picks up a consoles a frightened Lisa not only made me go, “Awww!” But also think, “Welcome back, old friend!” PS: The office set up is very cool, as is your poster. I’ve been thinking of investing in a microphone and headset to do some recording but have no idea what to get nor where to start.
It took a long time, but Moe is happy with thr love fg his life, Comic Book will one day be a father and we finally get to know more about Chalmers and his daughter!❤
the simpsons is my comfort show i watch it anywhere my house an plane a car someones house anywhere i've watched every episode its like it takes me to a diffrent world im 10 but i love it i own every dvd ! and it breaks my heart for someone to say it sucks i love your channel bc you talk all about it!
Honestly I’ve been loving these past 2 seasons! The one that truly hits home is season 34 episode 14 : Carl Carson rides again! I used to wonder why he didn’t have a back story being the only black friend in his group! I was truly happy he got a chance to really discover his ancestry. I could tell the writers really did their research! ❤❤❤
The simpsons is my favorite animated show, the first few seasons 3-8 are second to none but I don't think they're bad today, had some horrible seasons, but these last 2 seasons 33 and 34 have really got some of their glory back, I've loved most of the new episodes.
NGL - Your videos talking about how things got better is what made me decide to use my Disney Plus to actually watch and I realized I stopped watching WAY sooner than I thought. Last episode I saw was Lisa Goes Gaga - I 100% got why people didn't like it but I remembered thinking it wasn't as bad as everyone said it was. But after all the hate I heard I just kind of stopped watching
I wouldn't have known it was google translate! also most western television series with average of 22 episodes pause over the summer (June, July, August) and new seasons begin in September! That's why they're able to make their Treehouse of horror episodes always air in time for Halloween season :)
I'll say that lisa the boyscout was polarized episode at first because I've been saying that Ralf is a late hair bloomer. My uncle had his hair shaved off for years not a strand grew back since i saw him notv wanting to say much but haven't seen him in 4 months
In my opinion, “Skinner’s Sense Of Snow”, “The Saga Of Carl”, “Midnight Towboy”, The Skinner & Superintendent Road Trip, as well as most of the episodes from season 33 onwards, i would consider masterpieces (especially the Lisa-Nelson ones😊), likely my favorite episodes of the show. Don’t get me wrong, i love “Bart Gets an F” and “22 Short Films About Springfield” as much as any Simpsons fan, but I actually like the modern episodes better, because i actually get the jokes as a 17-year-old who loves cartoons.
Late Simpsons is a mixed bag. Most of the episodes you've mentioned are great, and I am excited to see where they go wit my some of these characters. But some characters are being changed in ways I dislike. Though he did write a lot of episodes I really did like, one of the newer writers they brought on the team has seemingly been put in charge of most all episodes featuring Sideshow Bob. I'm not sure why but it seems like if they are pushing him to be a sort of scientist? In The treehouse of horror he was in he was doing science and reviving The Dead, and then in the man who grew too much he's messing with GMOs and human DNA. I kind of want to go back to the theatric attempted murderer trying to kill Bart and simultaneously move on from his obsession. I can still see most of that in his modern appearances, but not nearly as much. Also weird note Francesca and Gino are gone. In Bobby it's cold outside he's seeing with a woman and mildly flirting with her as she aggressively flirts back and they sing Baby It's Cold Outside. What happened to his wife and son? Another character I'm really not liking the characterization of it later seasons, and this is no surprise to anyone who's seen the show, isn't dead Flanders. I really truly do miss the Ned Flanders who always tries to understand people around him and love the people around him. I cannot stand what they have done to him, they invaded my hateful Christian parody. I think the biggest example is comparing alone again natura-diddly did the episode where they had a young youth pastor. It's just such a stark difference. That old ned is willing to accept different types of music in the church environment, all the modern holy sees it as the devil. I don't know these two things are just really messing me up. But I do agree with almost every point made here. The episode about Martin was great, a serious Flanders was incredible, Lisa's belly was insightful, and I forget the name but the musical with Hugh Jackman was very fun
Season 33, episode 13. [you won’t believe…] is an episode FOR OUR TIME. It will probably be relevant for quite some time. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll watch it again.
Im glad Pixelated and Afraid 33x11 was given a spotlight in this video. That’s gotta be my favorite Simpsons episode of all time, and it’s extremely new.
There’s nothing wrong with a parody episode (Cape Feare is a series classic and it’s a riff on the Cape Fear films) but a good parody uses the framework and setup of the source material to tell inventive jokes. You just need good writers to make a good parody that not only is funny but doesn’t age itself nor need the original work to be appreciated.
I don’t like a lot of the newer episodes mainly because of how much politics and social justice they put in. When I watch a comedy, I want to laugh, not have them try to change my views
Ive been watching The Simpsons since the Tracey Ullman Show and it was a ritual that me and my sister watch it every Thursday & Sunday. Flash foward to 2023 my sister still watch once in a while but I watched every episodes whether day of or next day on Hulu
I also would add that maybe it isn't aimed towards fans from the 80s or 90s anymore. I only speak from my personal opinion and experience, of course. I love classic Simpsons but am not terribly fond of modern stuff, but my teenager loves the newer stuff but isn't a fan of the classics.
I recently sat down and watched every Simpsons episode from season 1 to season 33 except for the for the treehouse episodes because I've seen them a lot. And I agree with you I've noticed that since season 32 it just started getting better and better. I like tons of episodes between seasons 11 + 30 but yeah they really did start getting better
I have not seen too many modern Simpson episodes (barely watch any TV at all anymore), but I remember really liking the episode where Chalmers mentored the Springfield Elementary kids. It was a top tier episode, in my opinion. I really should check out some of the newer seasons…
I'll say the comic book guy is one of the iconic series because he was afraid of being a dad. I may not be a dad but if i was one I've understood how with my surrogate niece and her sisters because they resemble the three phases of a daughter so i can know what to do. Thier dad did see that i show i care like an uncle/hopeful father one day
There’s been a few episodes that felt like they were trying to compete with Family Guy with some of the jokes. It initially turned me off from continuing watching. Last year I gave the show another chance and was pleasantly surprised with the Future Simpsons storylines.
No, every time I have tried to watch the show in the past 20 years it is very dissappinting, oh maybe they have a half decent episode once in a while but I will not change my mind that the show died a long time ago.
The answer is no. This show sucks. It has become progressively worse.... Its outdated to hell too especially with its refrences that are a decade old ....
This show literally grew with me in time. People were still whining about the Prince and the Pauper parody Skinner went through by the early 2000s. There wasn't the internet there is now 21 years ago, only fan websites and forums. Comic Book Guy making fun of these 'fans' with the pony call back in *Saddlesore Galactica* was the perfect introduction to fan backclash and a series poking fun at their fans affectionatly.
I don’t know when the shift happened, but I love this s7 feel of a bit more melancholy too? Like I see episodes in teen years that try to go to tearjerker places and they don’t really land (strong arms of the ma is fascinating in so close but so far). The last few years you’ll get Martin calling out Bart, Pixellated and Afraid, childhood abuse/trauma being played not as a joke. Plus Jerkass Homer death is always a win.
I like the new episodes better but in all fairness... Nothing ends up tidy or happy like that in real life. I don't know if that adds to or takes away from the enjoyment of the show for others... But finding one at decent and well-balanced relationship and an entire town is rare enough, but the show so many characters finding and living their best life... Is just absolutely not realistic. Maybe that's why I enjoy it.
You know, the scene in the Simpsons World Halloween episode that really bugs me is when Homer shoves the fans into the bushes and kills them. It felt like it was only there to hit a kill/blood quota.
I've watched a serious Flanders at least a dozen times by now. Such an incredible storyline. So many good episodes recently, I'm beyond happy. It's good, and it's different. Often different can be an issue, but not here. At the same time we got back some old behaviors and personalities while exploring new horizons. If season 36 follows that trends, it will cement my believe that they finally corrected course and found their footing again. I'm very excited for the future.
Modern Simpsons in my opinion is usually hit or miss. There's some good episodes but a lot of meh or just out right bad episodes the Lady Gaga one being one of the worst.
I've been doing my own review series on my channel and it is still surprising how many good episodes there are past season 20. Definitely give the later seasons a watch. 👍
Something I like about the Simpsons is it’s not to “adult,” (compared to “South Park,” “Family Guy,” etc.) but it’s also not to child friendly (compared to Cartoon Network, etc.).
It's a tie right
Yea like if a child walks in on a parent watching the Simpsons it ain’t to bad while it’s adult enough to have moments that target the adult audience
Only wholesome-ish adult shows I've ever found are The Simpsons and Bob's Burgers.

It is the laws of averages, even the lousiest seasons had some gems. Or at least memetic moments~
True
I can only go to season 14, it just falls flat for me after that.
I like the new ones more than some of the older ones. Season 30 didn’t have many amazing must see episodes but I still love them.

The Very Hungry Caterpillars was one of the best episodes I’d seen in years. I also REALLY liked Top Goon, a fantastic pairing with Nelson and Moe!

Yes
i know, right? i mean, funny shows are so over rated. i'd rather not laugh and be bored out of my misery. this is why i love the modern simpsons.
I love Bartless so much. It made me feel so sad for the little guy
By heartwarming, do you mean how every episode is Lisa is smart, men are dumb? Or the woke life lessons ?
Mostly Homer's personality change.
Wait, the show doesn’t do satire or parody anymore?
Poorhouse Rock was amazing and very anti-capitalist
I honestly liked the modern Simpsons a lot. The character development in others, The Death Note parody, and tje secrets that would "ruin" the Simpsons
Sure, there are some gems in recent seasons as seen in this video but for every great modern episode there's about 20 forgettable or bad ones that make viewers feel like it isn't worth the effort anymore.
my friends get irritated with me because, no matter what happens, i'm like, "there's a 'simpsons' about that!!"
of course, i have seen every episode multiple times, like hundreds, if not thousands, of times (it's on my tv right now), so that's probably why i remember so many episodes and quotes. 😝
long live the simpsons, eternally in syndication!!
are you sure the reason those golden age episodes stuck in your head so well isn't _because_ you watched them religiously because you enjoyed them so much? i mean, it's weird comparing how well you remember episodes you watched a ton of times to how well you remember episodes you watched in a six-season binge
(also, honestly, while the mr. plow _episode_ is great, the mr. plow _theme_ is just an earwormy jingle that's hardly some masterpiece of clever writing; it's not even satirical of jingles, it just literally is one :P)
@@Wario1382exactly. As I've been saying, they are all Lisa knows best. Men are dumb. Woke life lesson! Repeat.
No, the new seasons really are bad.
It’s kinda like watching Big Bang Theory without the laugh track.
I see simpsons as a peak comfort show, its funny, heart-warming and its got a variety of episodes, its just nice to sit back turn it on and relax
Last time someone said modern Simpsons didn't suck I tuned into an episode where they tried to make Grandpa gay. How modern are we talking for an actual good episode?
My only real problem with "modern" Simpsons is how the voice actors all sound like they’re on their last breaths nowadays
I can do a flawless Homer and Krusty. I need to get on that show or do voice acting on general.
Doesn't help half the side characters are removed for PC reasons and the rest are too old to maintain the voice. Shoulda been cut 10 years ago
And then there's that time when a whole season of Dallas turned out to be nothing but a dream.
Damn, more than 40 years and people still talk about that hospital in St Elsewhere turning out to be a snow globe and an autistic child's vivid imagination on screen. Somehow even Cheers is there.
Roseanne did this too. The last season was her fantasizing about winning the lottery, I think.
The writers accidentally printed the scripts on pink paper.
My issue is there's toooooo many 1 time characters
I don't want to see another episode were Bart has a new teacher, Mr Smithers, Patty, Selma, even Bart and Lisa in a new relationship or meets a new friend.
More story time on other characters like the bumble b man, sideshow Mel, Dr. Nick Rivera, Mr Largo, lunch lady Doris, cookie kwan
Honestly New Simpsons has gotten better. Plus Classic Simpsons weren't all winners either
@@murmursmeglos There are golden age episodes that simply suck, denying that is delusional.
@@acex222❄
YES. I've been saying this ever since I got into the fandom (around season 29-30).
So far I'm loving this repainted train.
its a really weird experience to be a simpsons fan who sees value in every era of the show, because nearly everywhere i look theres always a ton of people talking about how much they hate modern simpsons. like ive been watching and rewatching episodes from basically every era for about a month now, and ive just been having a pretty consistantly good time throughout, regardless of whether i was watching an episode of season 3 or season 30. like yeah they feel different, but i still like it
edit a few months later: i was just thinking, and i wonder if this has to do with the fact that i have a soft spot for pretty much every era of the simpsons. like im legally obligated to feel nostalgic for the first 9 seasons, then i watched the teens seasons and the movie as a little kid, watched the early 20s seasons on ondemand when i was like 10 to 11, fell into the simpsons in a fandom-y way when i was like 13 to 15 and watched the late 20s seasons (as well as my mutual's episode edits on tumblr), then i watched seasons 30-32 when the pandemic started and found a lot of comfort in those seasons during such a time, and now ive been watching seasons 33-onward. its really hard for me to hate any era of the simpsons considering how much sentimental value basically all of them have to me (obviously i dislike specific episodes, but not whole seasons/sets of seasons), which is probably why im so leanient towards eras of the show that people tend to dislike, especially the "modern" seasons. yeah they're not perfect and they're pretty different to the classic era, but i still think they're neat
i can't imagine loving any episode more than i love that one.
but, was the lego episode within this time period?
because that one is really good, too, exploring a parent's dread at their children growing up and away from them.
oh! and i thought the "quilloughby" episode was deliciously dark and satirical!! 😎
thank you for all your hard work!!
this was as much fun to watch as a "simpsons" episode!! ☺️
I would love to see a sequel to The Simpsons Movie (2007).
Everybody wants Simpsons 2
@@Maxoro86Even Lydia, I don't think she has gotten around to talk about it yet.
The Simpsons 2: Electric Bartoloo
they were making one but then it got cancled bc of covid 19
Finally, a video that doesn’t destroy my hopes for binging the whole simpsons show (I’m up to s22 after 14 months, wish me luck)
Sure it's not like the old classics but it tells so many things we wonder through out the series
Season 34 was the first season I watched live, as it took 2 and a half years to watch the entirety of the show for the first time.
I can fairly say that Zombie Simpsons time is officially over
Edit: Apologises Lydia I thought the Flexi tag was an old username lololol
It has nothing to do with Disney. All that happened is that they changed showrunner for the first time in 20 years. For context, the first 12 seasons had 5 showrunner eras, seasons 13 to 32 had the same showrunner, Al Jean. Al Jean is not a bad writer but everything goes stale after 20 years.
Now Matt Selman has taken over (after co-showrunning from 31 onwards) and it feels fresh because it is fresh. Disney had nothing to do with it, since Selman has working there since 1997.
@@joseaguilar3323It helped. Denying it is silly. Disney helped alot especially in terms of distributions and M O N E Y

2:40 The weird thing is that I have a Simpsons comic that has a IT and Death Note parody in them so it seems they reused ideas from years ago
I wish king of the hill would allow Bill to evolve his character like they have with the Simpsons.
Too much development leads to the characters losing their identities which is what happened to The Simpsons.
I watched a single episode and I can for sure say…
I have never wanted to kill my self more in any moment in my entire life, family guy has better jokes and writing now.
@@falconeshield Let’s hope it happens.
I agree completely. So many good episodes lately. A serious flanders and lisa's belly are awesome.
Every time I see Lisa the Boy Scout I just giggle and say Lydia what are you doing on the show
😂
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t one of those people who said, “Modern Simpsons Suck”. I did go off it for a long time due to the direction it was going with elements like Jerkass Homer, Flanderisation and the silly stories (jockey elves).
But I have come across some recent episodes that really do feel like a return to form. I watched the Halloween of Horror episode and that moment where Homer picks up a consoles a frightened Lisa not only made me go, “Awww!” But also think, “Welcome back, old friend!”
PS: The office set up is very cool, as is your poster. I’ve been thinking of investing in a microphone and headset to do some recording but have no idea what to get nor where to start.
It took a long time, but Moe is happy with thr love fg his life, Comic Book will one day be a father and we finally get to know more about Chalmers and his daughter!❤

I'm amazed she doesn't have bunny ears. An obscure joke but it works. Maybe Marge has a Sailor Moon pocket heart hidden in her drawer.

the simpsons is my comfort show i watch it anywhere my house an plane a car someones house anywhere i've watched every episode its like it takes me to a diffrent world im 10 but i love it i own every dvd !

im a new fan so im prefer modern Simpsons over the old seasons...
The Simpsons is at its renaissance not golden age.
Wouldn't say it sucks, but it's very hit and miss unlike the good old simpsons from 90s
I'm happy that everything has changed with the Simpsons, especially with how Homer isn't a complete Child Abuser anymore
Yeah, Homer from the *Max Power* episode to before the Disney acquisition was a parody of Homer by a jealous Peter Griffin fan
Im sorry i cant stand marge's voice in the newer episodes
The new simpsons try to be edgy like family guy and rick and morty and it's really awkward simple as that
They have literally done edgey thing way before that been the type of humor🤦♂️
I live in Germany, can you tell me when the new season is coming to Disney Plus? (yes I wrote this with Google translator (: )
I wouldn't have known it was google translate! also most western television series with average of 22 episodes pause over the summer (June, July, August) and new seasons begin in September! That's why they're able to make their Treehouse of horror episodes always air in time for Halloween season :)
@@youresinningtoo3996Now I'm hyped whoo hoo
Lydia forgot about the Van Houtens especially Kirk 😔
Yes you're right, this was probably Kirk's biggest season yet
Until they bring back Apu, the Simpson's are over for me.
The upgrade in animation quality is so much better and I'm glad for it
I think its telling that the best newer episode stray away from stale parodies or absurdities and go back to intimate personal stories
After the death note segment I want to see more evil lisa
Sorry, can't agree with you here. The modern Simpsons episodes have one or two funny jokes but the characters suck.
I love Simpsons so much and I’ve watched all of the episodes!!
I'll say the comic book guy is one of the iconic series because he was afraid of being a dad. I may not be a dad but if i was one I've understood how with my surrogate niece and her sisters because they resemble the three phases of a daughter so i can know what to do. Thier dad did see that i show i care like an uncle/hopeful father one day
“Stop saying modern Simpsons sucks!”
It’s improved, but it still sucks. It’s more creative, but it’s still not good.
Smithers didn’t even stay with the guy at the end right ? I thought they were moving in the progression direction
I find it funny the more people complain about modern simpsons are the ones who don't watch it! 😂❤
Please tell me you were being sarcastic when you said the lockdown story didnt age poorly in any way
I like the new episodes better but in all fairness...
You'll never stop the Simpsons. I really enjoy your channel
