Just saying, bringing Apu's family into the mix may have ruined his character as he just becomes a bitter asshole who clearly doesn't even want a family, which is totally counter to the romantic man we see in past episodes
The episode where he cheats on his wife with the Squishy delivery woman was just cringe. They gave him so much character derailment and shoved in the worst of the ethnic jokes in just that ONE episode. I always saw Apu as someone who was quite happy with his lot in life, and not bitter about not being the computer programmer or movie star he left India to become. Someone with a Spongebob like pride and love in the low paying service industry job he has, who gets absolutely crestfallen if that was ever in danger. And when he got married and had that one episode where he was better at expressing his love around Valentines Day that every other married or dating man was quite sweet. It's PAINFUL, and on many levels, what that cheating episode gave us. Like eating a glass lightbulb dipped in toilet water to soften it up (only funny gag in the episode).
I think he is just stressed because he always has been a hard worker and having so many kids is too much to think of. I've met people irl who get super stressed the first years of his children but because in the Simpsons universe no one grow and time don't pass we never get to see the end of this stressful first couple of years
Chalmers being in the show is a game changer. As you may know Chalmers was described as a normal person in the crazy world of Springfield, much like Grimey. He only asks one question because he knows that if he asks any more than that he will lose his mind
I love the idea that Chalmers clearly knows what’s going on in the famous Steamed Hams scene, he just wants to feign ignorance so he can leave without getting involved.
The “you don’t win friends with salad” is forever my favourite bit from the simpsons, it’s too good plus it was fun to see it randomly on series 30’s treehouse of horror special
Moe as well as ComicBook Guy finding love after all their years alone gives me hope for my own future. It's nice to see unconventionally attractive looking people finding happiness. To me it's almost like the writers know the show will eventually come to an end and they are trying to tie up all lose ends.
Two words for one of the greatest game-changers. Phil. Hartman. His inclusion was brilliant and brought a never-before-seen energy to secondary characters we had never seen. Troy and Lionel were so energetic and brought serious comedic relief to The Simpsons. And that performance in Stop The Planet Of The Apes! I Want To Get Off was 😍 On that note, Al Brooks is similar to Phil in the inclusions their personalities as actors brought to the show. Honestly, Brooks’ talents were showcased best in the character of Hank Scorpio in You Only Move Twice. According to Mitch and Dando in Homer’s Odyssey, Dan Castellaneta couldn’t keep up with Al’s improv and was reduced to grunts, which were kept in the show. I also found a story in the same book where in recording for Life on The Fast Lane, the bouts of laughter from Julie Kavner in the show itself were actually because Al’s jokes in recording just made her laugh so much, the producers kept them in 😂
I remember, and I think it was in one of this channels videos, learning an interesting fact about Lisa’s vegetarianism. It wasn’t entirely the writers decision to keep Lisa a vegetarian. Paul and Linda McCartney had a condition for guest starring that episode. That condition being that Lisa remain a vegetarian at the end of the episode. The writers must’ve quite liked that idea if they agreed to it. Honestly I can’t imagine the show with Lisa as a meat eater past early season 7.
There is an episode where she starts eating insects because she develops anemia, and even though she's back to being vegetarian by the end of the episode it got awful reviews for that exact reason. Paul McCartney also had a similar demand for Weird Al when he asked to parody "Live and Let Die" as "Chicken Pot Pie", he didn't want his song associated with a cause he didn't believe in so he suggested the title "Tofu Pot Pie". Al never released the song, but became a vegetarian a few years later.
@@pepesilvia429 Yeah the writers (I know it’s not the original writers) definitely should’ve thought of another way for her to treat her anemia. That feels like an insult to the integrity of Lisa’s character and a bit of a disrespect to the agreement that was made with Paul and Linda McCartney. Also I didn’t know that fact about Weird Al that’s actually pretty cool. They must’ve had a profound effect on him huh? Especially since he would later turn vegan.
I was so happy to see Moe getting a girl and that his fears/depression were very well grounded and depicted so well before he finally had the courage to propose. It felt very real and it made the Yes so much more meaningful. Also I think we’re forgetting the fact that Comic book guy and his wife are possibly pregnant?!?!!! There was that brief scene in the Maggie’s godfather episode when they showed up at the front door waiting for Flanders
I think removing apu was a shame, caught up blindly in the “woke” movement claiming apu was nothing more than a stereotype. I think it was incredibly small minded to see him only as an offensive stereotype. Apu was so much more than just a stereotyped indian gas station owner. He was a thinking man, who showed compassion and care to his fellow spring fielders. He was a passionate ladies man, as depicted with him being very popular with the women of springfield. He was a representation of the old american dream, an immigrant who worked hard to create a better life for himself and his family. How could he viewed as a one dimensional character stereotype when hes been so deeply humanized facing real problems? The season 7 episode much apu about nothing faced him with the problems of being forced to leave a country he called home, where his friends and family are. Theres no better way of showing the humanity of an immigrant than him dealing with these issues, and we as an audience empathize with him because he is a far deeper character than a “funny foreign oaf.” He was a respected friend of the simpsons, as they went out of their way multiple times to help him with his crazy problems and business ventures. He was part of the family, being included in all kinda of hijenks and he was praised, not just a token foreign friend. I think it was greatly misunderstood why apu was so popular. It wasnt because he was a funny stereotype. Apu spoke to the fish out of water, per say. He was unabashed of hisculture and liked sharing it with the people around him. He was hard working, well educated and so well liked by all those around him despite how different he was. Banishing him as a one dimensional stereotype was a short sighted mistake, and now people of all cultures no longer get to enjoy a character that we grew to love and all laughed with, instead of the foolish perception that we were all laughing at him. Just my two cents.
All I have to do is to recast his voice and they would probably bring him right back. Furthermore, the real decision was made by Harry Shearer, The man who voiced up who voiced Apu. He wasn't pressured, he voluntarily stepped down Because he knew it was the right thing to do. A person could do something wrong their entire lives and not know it, but once they are shown the truth, they have the chance to correct their past mistakes.
@@zeldabackwards You are missing the point. It's not about the character being a stereotype as much as it's about a white person providing the voice. It should be an Indian person's voice, not an American pretending to sound like an Indian.

@@Wolfstarzan Totally agree. Selma doesn’t get as much attention as Patty and her story arc has only been seen with an existing character (Troy McClure). It would be good if we had episodes based around Selma too
You seem to know alot about the Simpsons.... I have a question to you... I haven't seen all Simpsons episodes, so I I don't know if this is canon, and I haven't seen all your videos yet, so I don't know if you might have already talked about it... but in the Simpsons Videogame, when you move with your characters around Springfield, you can hear the different characters enter a discussion with each other... and at one moment mrs Julius Hibbert and Carl have a discussion with each other, which gives a hint that they used to be lovers and that Carl still loves her... so do you have any idea if this is actually a thing in the tv show?
I'm not sure even the show creators remember anymore that Homer wasn't a safety inspector to begin with but was promoted to that in the third episode of the series. He probably wouldn't be able to fund all of his and/or Bart's crazy schemes throughout the show without that promotion.

A J.J. McCullough collab? Automatic like!
Biggest changes I've noticed:
*Mr. Seymour Tanzanian Skinner
*Patty commenting the last lingering thread of her hetero-sexuality in a Treehouse of Horror special
*Krusty's Jewish Heritage
*Marges hair isn't truly blue...but Brunette!
* Homer isn't an only child
*Milhouse being Lisa's 1st...but Milhouse doesn't count!
All great continuity changes! Poor Milhouse 😂
I love Lisa! She's my fav!
Hey, this is guy the who explains about flags and why Canadians have aberrant peanut butter containers.
yessss another great vid from Lydia!
When’s the new series on Disney+? Been watching it on there and just finished S33
Nice vid keep up the vids on this channel and on screen portal your content is amzaing
We all miss Edna… :(
15:26 I laughed way harder than I probably should have at what you said there lol.
When I 1st saw the title I thought u were gonna go over all the Simpsons games, but this video was still great
Don't worry I'll be covering the games later this year.
Im also doing a play through of Hit & Run soon as well 🙂
@@TheSimpsonsTheory AWESOME
13:45 mark I never noticed before that the kids either don’t have faces or have partially drawn faces
I’m already subscribed, he’s awesome and we both helm from Canada. Also JJ is gorgeous, so I kinda have a bit of a crush on him too.
JJ does amazing vids
JJ is awesome
@@TheSimpsonsTheory I stumbled upon his political vids. Was kinda shocked to learn he is a fellow Canuck
Can I just say that is shocking how this show in seasons 22 and 25 could actually change the status quo
Season 22: Ned gets married to Edna
Season 25: Comic book guy gets a girlfriend
I wonder if Kamico got her kid. Also I hope to see Moe and Maya's wedding.
Barney maybe unfit but unknown unknowingly intelligent
Patty and Selma are the ones who have changed well. I may not be part of LGBT but I respect patty and selma look like a relative of mine.
fun fact in the episode Milhouse Divided they had intended for actress Sheryl Crow to sing Kirk's song Can I Borrow a Feeling but declined to perform the song
I love this channel because it’s really expensive The Simpsons and the Simpsons is one of my favorite things on Disney+ but I also like in condo descendents and other stuff like that even frozen
Wait, is this a crossover episode? I absolutely love both of you guys and I'm subscribed to both of youse
hello friends, my name is andrew, and This collab is dope af
Me: Remember errors like continuity errors a wizard did it
Jj: but in episode
Me: WIZARD
First 5 seasons were the best
It WAS must see tv in the early 90's . Roll one up and watched the Simpsons
4:47 Interesting insight, though the family disappeared after the funeral episode and were never referenced again
Another excellent video! :)
Congrats on the new video
Thank you 😁
it's sad that my least favorite mane character is Lisa when she has the most change
That Kirk thumbnail is 10/10
"Can i borrow a feeling?"
@@TheSimpsonsTheory "can i have my shirts back, at least?" Man Kirk makes me sad laugh 😂
Marge once even said that Homer just hates Patty. He “feels sorry” for Selma that she has to live with Patty.
Yes and it seems to me that Selma doesn't hate Homer but Patty is the dominant twin sister and Selma has to follow her.
I liked it when "hey you behind the bushes" was a low life criminal rather than depressed. Anyway great video!
I have noticed the show has added more adult themes in later and recent years. Perfectly blending that fun for kids and adults.
Likewise TV isn't available in the UK, what a shame.
I love JJ McCullough
I always think that prison was so traumatic for Sideshow Bob that it broke his brain.
Moe got happy i didnt knew ... i cried ... so sweet
I love this video
Wasn't Sideshow Bob in some of the Tracey Ulman shorts? Or am I remembering wrong?
Great video
I would think the first major change is in the first episode when the Simpsons get Santa's Little Helper. He wasn't in the shorts.
Do u have to pay for likewise? Like what I mean is for Netflix and Disney+ you need to pay to use it...right?
Likewise is free to use, but you do have to pay for Netflix and Disney+ subscriptions as usual.
Likewise is basically a hub and tells you where you can watch those shows
Ah ok thanks :)
HI I love the Simpsons (Bart is my favorite)
Same here
JJs got that real Canadian aboot going on in this
Nice vid
Yeah this is cool and the game changers are the best
I still remember the episode where Homer becomes an ice cream man after his favourite ice cream vendor passes away
JJ =AWESOME
ugh, if Likewise does that without charging me money, it's getting a bookmark from me, lol!
