- In this video I breakdown Reid Duke's awesome article, "A Quick Story." I love this article because it explains a simple Magic: the Gathering concept in a very memorable way that has stuck with me as a player and will hopefully stick with you as well! The piece was originally written over 9 years ago, so I wanted to give it some exposure for a newer audience and explain some of the references that may be difficult for newer players to grasp.

Awesome. I immediately think of how gruul stompy emerges as a top 3 strategy for almost every draft environment ever.
I'm glad you liked the video, but I don't agree with the premise that Gruul stompy is more likely to be a top strategy. It was easy for me to think of several formats where it was quite weak (or even the worst) off the top of my head, so I feel like making that generalization is unwarranted. Since all Limited sets are different, it is not ideal to draw color pair comparisons between them unless there is significant overlap in the cards.

very cool. I however always find myself wondering during a draft if I should go for thr secure path ot trying some of those michelle yeoh moves lol. because what makes me have the most fun is winning with a cool 5 color deck and not a perfect curve many creatures deck. Its tough because if you lost miserably, then it would have been much better to have boring but winner deck
I think the article is focused on making the best decisions purely from a perspective of winning more. I personally think it is better to do what you enjoy and have fun with because Magic is a game! This can just be a helpful reminder that if you feel like you're struggling, going back to the basics can help!
