In Omo, Queen of Vesuva turns your lands into Urza lands so you can turn on your Urza's Tower / Mine / Power Plant along with any other Desert/Gate/Locus/Cave synergy.
You could even do a land destruction combo here, putting everything counters on opponent's lands and combining it with crux of fate. Edit: Oop that won't work. But it can still be a boardwipe
@@drakor98It could work... But you'd need to animate your opponents lands. Natures Revolt or Living Plane. Urborg with Kormus Bell. Yavimaya with Life and Limb.
I was just brewing a deck that took advantage of playing expensive creature bombs (since my lands are going to be Tron) & making them all Merfolks with Lord of Atlantis. Making Omo unlockable is also really useful.
Damn the health of edh is looking bleaker for every set that comes out. My commanders from 2017-18 already feels obsolete. How can anyone be optimistic about the future of edh is beyond me.
Man, it is refreshing to see a Simic commander that doesn't just drop lands and draw cards or tell you how to build the 99 within the text box. Omo has sparked sone deckbuilding creativity with me tonight. Making my lands into tron lands, dropping Lord of Atlantis and passing out Islandwalk abilities. This deck will make me box my current Simic commander.
Omo sounds like a really fun build around for a 'hate' deck, where you have really powerful but really specific cards, like Choke, that target land and creature types and lock your opponents out of the game. Sure you could build her to be 'lord tribal' or something but being evil is just more fun 😈
Yeah just for casting an Eldrazi getting such a massive effect is wild. Should make a new keyword that translates to “When you cast this spell, if X or more mana was spent to cast it - do the thing” That makes it so you have to at least have a plan to get some mana and not just cheat it out
They already have a similar mechanic to that... It's called "Adamant," where, if you spent some amount of some type of mana, you get an additional effect.
For that Vasuva deck, you could do a "landwalk" tribal type of thing. Could be fun. All you need is to get an everything counter on 1 land for each opponent and you're good to go!
I reply to someone else but I am doing this exact build. Using cards like Lord of Atlantis that gives my cards landwalk abilities while also playing bombs with my tron lands lol. I haven't seen a unique simic commander in a while. She has sparked my thinking tonight.
Pearl-Ear is crazy. 3 mana for a 3/4 Lifelink that draws cards and essentially ramps? 3/4 Lifelink and maybe one more ability would be power creep. Why add card draw on top of that? They are crazy with this set.
I love that Emrakul Gain control, big hit with 12/12 power based could go in just 6 mana Ulamog basically almost a game finisher card Kozilek You draw 4 then create weird 4 morph bear, at least 2 not even yours, and weird buff
Pearl Ear is going to be just a really great card in the 99 as well as the CZ. Not as potent or quick as Light Paws, but having pseudo-ramp and straight card draw on a cheap creature is just really great. I think the Affinity will still make her a pretty fast commander once you get around 2-3 auras out, since a lot of the really good auras in white are at or around 3 mana.
100% this. I'd argue it's going to be similar the mono green selvala . You get a payoff for doing the thing . Light paws is definitely much stronger, but this has very nice grind potential and makes going over the top with Eldrazi Conscription ( one of my favorite auras that basically has to be cheated in ) alot more viable. I am pumped for this card to say the least .
I probably want to pick her up for my midrange Bruna, Light of Alabaster deck that already runs Light-Paws. It's a good time to be a nongreen enchantress player 😁
@Pyberspace can I peek the list ice? I've been trying to tune my bruna list for the more recent times, and I've been struggling to find the right balance moving the game plan forward and actually hitting my opponents for lethal
OG Emrakul is banned in our format, and now we get something worse with Ulamog...dafuq wotc?! 😅😂 This Eldrazi is absolutely busted. Like Maldhound said: "ward is always given to the dipshits that deserve to be targeted with things."
Dude. It’s so funny to me how exasperated you sound when you’re like “I guess it’s spoiler season again” or whatever in the front. Just makes me giggle. Love the vids.
If you have a Clone Shell with Ulamog exiled, when the Clone Shell dies and you reveal Ulamog, it'll see itself in exile as it enters and come in with 10 counters. This will not work with things like Cascade, or have you cast from exile because when determining what's in exile, Ulamog will be on the stack not in exile. Any cards that put Ulamog from exile directly on the battlefield will work. Have fun.
Six storm is still possible and it could even possibly go infinite (?) if you cast Aeve Progenitor Ooze and have a phyrexian altar out. Each time you retrace it you get more and more mana as well as tokens you just need to get your storm count up high enough and find a way to keep recurring lands to hand which shouldn't be too hard cus when you already got Aeve up to a storm count of like 10 you could combo it with a card that lets you bring back lands to hand from grave (Turntimber Sower, Tilling Treefolk, etc.)
i'm kinda of iffy on this set. 20% seems fun (like the bear commander, the aura commander, and omo) but most of it just seems like cards were made ridiculously powerful to justify the absurd price of the box. i'm hoping that ulamog gets banned cause screw exiling half a deck, getting huge amount of counters, then making your opponent sac almost their entire board. it isn't a toxic card like the angel that flat out stops one color from playing the game but i think it isn't going to be fun.
I really thought if they were going to do eldrazi titans again to make the cost colorless instead of all generic. Omo would work for urza and locus shenanigans
As with every set beyond 2021, my fear for the health of commander grows. It is not rule zeroing some things out, it should be rule zeroing the new powercrept sets out entirely... WoTC is trying so hard to end with EDH...
The new Ulamog is fairly awesome. For ten mana, it better be. It is hilarious seeing people already wanting it banned. 😂 Apparently, they did not learn from Lord Xander and Tergrid.
On the topic of Animating Planeswalkers, don't the Gideon Planeswalkers already animate themselves? I also swear there was a type of enchantment that could be placed on Planeswalkers to give them extra abilities. Just a shame we can't add red for Sarkhan, or green for the new Oko.
Found them, the Talent cycle. Would only be able to use three of them Elspeth's, Liliana's and Teferi's. But doubling those types of cards would certainly be interesting. The deck wouldn't likely be any good, but interesting is sometimes better than powerful.
I'm a vorinclex player, and I don't even want to put the new ulamog in the deck, as funny as it would be to swing with a annihilator 80 and wipe everything, it would get old fast
Pearl-ear mana reduction and card draw on 3/4 body for 3 mana, I strongly dislike modern 3 mana commander design Make it just the first paragraph is already super fun, aura affinity wao
9:00 the land type is LAND type, not BASIC land type, so now every land is a desert, a cave, urza's.... 12:30 this card will be really good on voltron auras decks, like the usual modify people do to Virtue and Valor precon from Wilds of Eldraine
When I saw the Ulamog, the Defiler spoiler the 1st time I assumed it was a joke because of the last line of text. Then it was later confirmed to be...actually a real card. It just doesn't sound real.
With Ulamog, exile your own Draco somehow, get annihilator 16, it doesn't even matter that you can oneshot the guy, that opponent is not in the game anymore even if he chumps.
Eldrazi used to be cool because the titans were just supposed to be representations of the blind eternities like some lovecraft stuff but now they’re just literal creatures that go destroy
@WeasyMTG There are other charge counter cards so it's possible for it to get one without paying, though it wouldn't be in any way convenient. For the combo to work you'd need scepter + animate spell + commander + either three counters or two counters and a way to proliferate every turn. That's an unreasonable combo but if manage to assemble it you'd deserve the win.
Over design for commander will kill the format , not today or tomorrow but eventually.. i do miss finding cards that don't have a home a place to be played 😢

@uhfrank I don't know what most people lists look like because I brew with cards I have on hand at first when I build. it was probably modular, though, or eldrazi, which I mostly avoided. I think there is one modular card in the whole deck
This set has 2 overwhelming themes - throwbacks to other cards that border on parody (Wight of the reliquary, Strix Serenade, etc.), and WAY too gross to have been printed cards (New Ulamog, Arna Kennerud, etc.). Maybe it was just done to try and justify the obscene cost they're asking, but the set as w hole comes off as severely overpowered. ESPECIALLY the Eldrazi tribal/typal. I've always been a fan of the eldrazi as a theme, as it's the closest we really get to lovecraftian concepts, but mechanically, I can't stand them. It's just too much, and if you're running a colorless deck, it's too easy to overwhelm your board - with newer additions to the tribe and meta, even the higher casting costs aren't a hindrance. Enter Ulalek, Fused Atrocity. If you sit across from me in a commander game with this thing at the helm, you are the target. It's just too much.
This ulamog is too good. It will probably get banned once people figure out how to abuse it. It's crazy how Wizards keeps making really overpowered cards.
I for the death of me can't comprehend the eldrazi hate, big dumb eldrazi already exist and they see virtually no play. If you grab out of the top 100 colorless cards every version of the big 3 (Ulamog, Kozilek and Emrakul) and add them together they have less presence on decks that Jeweled Lotus, a card with 7% usage. The point I'm trying to make is that people don't play Eldrazi not because they aren't good, they don't play them because they don't want to, the new Ulamog isn't going to be the exception.
Also Eldrazi are just not good. They thrive in low power enviroments but instantly fold in high power and dont even exist in cEDH (Viod Winnower sees some play but thats it).
I'm considering quitting. Every new set is just full of cards that are power crept to hell, every commander builds itself, every colour can do pretty much everything. Every deck I see is playing the same staple cards. So boring.
Yeah I'm making a personal ban list: I'm not playing vs any deck that can use 'Anihilator X' It was a broken mechanic already before we had crazy ways to ramp mana and this new Ulamog doesn't even needs colorless is just 10 generic: it means any super fast ramp deck than potentially drop this inside 3 or 4 turns: I refuse to even bother I'll concede on sight out of principle: even with decks that I know can get there faster or have enough interaction to perpetually keep it off the field before it can attack we shouldn't get one card wins on top of the ones we already have.
I will play versus any deck except STAX once. I just don’t see the appeal. It’s certainly not fun, it’s quite linear and boring, requires no skill… and typically, Eldrazi are an expensive deck. I guess if you have a combo to cheat them in for CEDH it is OK, but who does this appeal to in EDH ?
Every card I look at, is like “there’s no way they printed that”😂

Turns out all the leaks were real, again.
Not so much leaks as forbidden spoilers..
when i saw this ulamog being leaked at first i was like THATS SO FAKE, AINT NO WAY THATS REAL... and here we are :,-)

Fun fact: there are currently 9 non-sticker cards with proliferate that are legal in colorless decks.
Eldrazi Conscription with Pearl-Ear?
Would Arna work for a Gideon planeswalker tribal deck? I think they all turn into creatures with their own abilities
Ulamog going in my Umbris and Ezuri Stalker of Spheres deck lol

Divinity counters could be interesting with Arna.
Do we really need new mechanics every set? I already don't know what half the cards in a game do with their yugioh style paragraphs.

Pearl ear is ridiculous, sram but better stats and lifelink (the best ability) for only one more mana, and has the enabler stapled on it cuz why not
I’m excited to make an Arna Planeswalker Deck!
"Colorless" is the theme for Elderizi...

for Kennerüd: Animate a Magistrates Scepter, get charges counters on it, attack, take extra turn, repeat.
How does this work? Wouldn't you have to pay 4 to put a counter on it?
