I have literally never commented on any podcast before, but I had to on this one. I must get some of her books to read because according to everything she's saying as far as women go, I've done literally everything wrong in my life up till now, in which I'm post-menopausal at age 46. Within the last few years, I've started taking better care of myself, but I generally don't feel better, and the biggest symptom is constant fatigue. I exercise regularly, raise and grow my own food, live close in nature, pray and meditate, pretty much everything but fasting. Nobody can give me any answers. It's incredibly frustrating. I do absolutely love and appreciate this podcast for the delicious knowledge that's always available. Love and light.

@@christaevans4301 you're doing great, yet constant fatigue means your system is still out of balance. Good to get orientated by sources we have to date if you can. Check more independent sources like Dr. Eric Berg, and John Bergman. Bless your efforts 🙏 best wishes to you too.

I began fasting last year, I swear I was getting melanoma all over my back, It’s totally gone, My legs had literally a thousand pre carcinogenic/ solar keratosis. They are gone my Dr is shocked.
Fasting will transform your life, it helps if you strictly eat pure food, eliminate sugar.

Do get her books! I’m 47 and started fasting. Very loosely. At least i would allow 12 hours between dinner and breakfast. 17 hours was my magic number. I lost all of my belly fat in two months. I was weighing at 147 when i started and I’m now 132. Muscle mass is up and fat lots was great. Mood stable and energy is terrific. It all makes so much sense and i swear, this should be taught to all young ladies early in life. I guess later is better than never. Thank you Dr Mindi and thank you Andre. I love you both!

Thank you for doing this interview! Dr. Mindy Pelz has changed my life. Most importantly, she helped me to stop being so hateful to my body. She encourages me to give myself a lot of grace, which finally freed me of the self-sabotaging self criticism, and in doing so I was able to following a fasting regimen. I am down 30lbs, but more importantly I feel myself healing inside and out.

@@eliarivera4168I hope someone who sees this that knows how to advise you will comment.
My advice with some knowledge I have, would be to ween yourself in. Start removing all refined carbs before hand, and high sugar foods (stevia is good sugar alternative). Try this for a good 2 weeks to begin.
And also for females - never start a fast 1 week before your cycles begins. In other words 1 week before you start your period. You can begin once you have started if you like. I would wait until around day 13 tbh when you are feeling really good in your cycle.
I am a novice and this to my understanding is good advice if anyone can correct me that is advanced in fasting then please do! 😊xx
Good luck with your fasting 👍🏼

@ I only do intermittent fasting between 15 and 21 hours and I lost 20 pounds in three months but fasting is difficult if you don’t cut sugar and carbs because it interferes with the whole process from the blood sugar spikes. At least keep your sugar down to five or 10 g a day and for carbs switch the flour carbs with things like legumes (lentils and beans) and vegetables and quinoa. I make pizza crust with buckwheat bc it’s not from wheat, it has no gluten and doesn’t spike blood sugar too much. I also use sliced zucchini instead of pizza crust and it’s so easy…just put pizza sauce, toppings and cheese on top and bake in the oven at 400 degrees F for approx 20 mins. You can use different vegetables instead of pasta and add your meat sauce or tomato sauce. You also need to be drinking a lot more when you’re fasting. Sip quite often on some water. When you eat your meals you should have lots of protein and fibre and that will keep you full and will give you the nutrients you need and you won’t feel dizzy if you have the proper nutrition and enough water. Watch her videos on apple cider vinegar. Should be raw and unfiltered.

This is so wonderful, Dr Mindy is incredible, I am learning so much. I am going to do a five day fast in January and join her community! I went RAW last year in January for three months, wow it was incredible! I will say when I went Vegan 6 years ago I felt the most incredible shift in my being-ness. When Dr Mindy talks about her introducing eggs into her diet after a fast, and she felt so tired, my gut tells me her system was clean of cruelty, and she immediately (unconsciously) brought back those fear (cruelty) hormones into her clean system and her vibration mirrored the way the eggs were delivered to her plate . btw years ago i zero idea what and how the animals were/are treated, and how we as humans consume the violence. Eggs are no different ( i used to think eggs were ok, until i learned HOW and what happens to these chickens, it is NOT ok. Do your research if/when you are ready to take off your blinders😔) I do not judge Dr Mindy, or any other non vegan, I can't judge what I have done, with that said....... Opening up my heart to what IS done, and living in alignment with love, choosing love over my taste buds, has transformed my life in ways words can't describe. If you Identify as an empath, and you are reading this, and you are not vegan yet, (for the animals) and you struggle with the darkness (energetically) that surrounds you, going vegan has changed my life, I highly recommend it, it's like I getting my power back, while simultaneously protecting the animals and using my voice since they can't use theirs here on earth.❤💌💌

This is my favorite Dr. Mindy interview. ❤ Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability especially around mid-life and your experience post launching your book. You're such a power house and energizer and show up in such a motivating way and it felt good to know that there are deeper moments of reflection happening too. It touches on the power over model which you spoke to 🙏 and clarifying how that operates for women is really important for Gen X and Baby Boomer women (I find) to understand so we can be better sisters to one another and aunties and mothers to our daughters. Dismantling the myth that women in midlife have to be happy, fit, and of course look young gets perpetuated by women among women to win the male gaze. Andre Duqum, I love the way you held this conversation in such a slow, gentle, and thoughtful way and introducing concepts of collective vs. individuality. To your health and well being!

I have been healing for years from my ED so I decided to use fasting and in a way “kill two birds with one stone” but something magical did happen. WoW - This is my first time to ever comment on a podcast! Plus, I sent a link of this fabulous informative interview to all of the men & women that I love including clients and especially my 3 children and their significant others. Not takin any more s#*t or people pleasing. Been there - done that - got the hat - ( the hat is NOT red btw :) and now loving the lessons. Dr Mindy helps me to know that I didn't do it wrong, nor did my hormones or especially whatever kneejerk reaction followed. Andre - you are such a gift! God Bless us All as we learn to love everything that shows us a doorway to Know Thy Self ~ Love Dana

Got this at the 130th hour of my 144hr (6days) fast. It's amazing what the human body is capable of. The mental clarity is NUTS! Making this a lifestyle cannot be gainsaid. My sense of smell is crazy though. I pick up scents that people around me are clueless about. This reset is INSANE!!!

@ Thank you! I added lemon juice, moringa and organic matcha powder to my water every so often which I think helped as I was still working in the evenings. I also took a spoonful of olive oil about twice a day! Was surprised how clear I felt though I did feel a bit weak at the very end. I lost 10 pounds and the next day ate two healthy meals- feeling pretty light! Trying to maintain by eating only during daylight and exercising.

Such a great reminder.. thank you for this. I used to do 10-14 day fasts, sometimes longer, at least 2-3 times a year, between 12 and 17 years ago. This podcast really helped me remember how incredible it felt and now I’m totally inspired again. Grateful❤️
**Wow. Just heard the post-menopausal parts that you’re talking about and feeling so much truth in all of that.. again, thank you. I feel this is as important for men to take in as well as women.
Oh my god, André.. love you!🤗

Excellent interview! I deeply appreciate the information and the inspiration as a woman two years into menopause and feeling like “it’s all down hill from here.” It’s such crappy conditioning. Thank you Dr. Mindy & Andre for turning my perspective around. I can’t wait for the new book! 💗

I did fast for 66 Hours maximum because of a strong headache and very low level of energy 😢 I did drink water with a bit of céltic salt. After 36h I just started to be very weak, dizziness.
I decided to fast every week for 24 hours to make my body to adapt and maybe in few months I can do 72h, Thank you for this episode 🙏😘

Sounds like you may need more sodium intake. Recharging the electrolytes is huge when fasting. You may have been right on the brink of hitting ketosis. Make sure you’re intaking enough for your body weight. I was intaking to 2 tsp of sodium with water through out the day. Distilled water helps to when trying to pull toxins out.

This is crazy. There are so many contradictory messages out there. I recently heard a talk from a fitness expert who said women should not fast because of the impact to our hormonal system and how we need consistent fuel source, so I stopped fasting. At the same time, I lean more towards Dr. Mindy’s message and experience. Everything she has said makes sense.

The right podcast at the right time for many of us it seems! Have signed up for the Jan fast! And as a passionate advocate of vision fasts/vision quests out on the land as taught by School of Lost Borders and the work of Bill Plotkin etc, I love how Dr. Mindy has eloquently described what happens to our body after the various fasting hours. And André, as others have said your loving, informed, welcoming style is a joy to tune into. Thank you both and good wishes for 2025 and beyond.
