Thank you for having me Steven, and limitless appreciation to everyone for watching. Remember if knowledge is power, learning is your superpower. Your brain is your greatest wealth building asset. If you are not willing to learn (& apply), no one can help you. If you are determined to learn (& apply), no one can stop you. There’s a version of you patiently waiting, keep showing up until you are introduced.

ive been off work from ME/CFS since 2014. Neuroplasticity and all the other topics you've raised have strongly contributed to my improvements. I have been lucky that i have a love of learning, it is a core self-belief/attitude i have that my ego hangs itself upon XD Imagine my horror/despair when i could no longer think, or communicate for hours at a time, just lie in bed staring at walls. Gradually, ive clawed my way back thanks to my love of learning, i figured out what changes to make etc. I forsee a full return to the 'real world' is on the cards, incl self-employment and fully off benefits within 5ish years
The most recent and important behaviour adoption has been thanks to my therapist who told me about ABC lists and doing 3 tasks each day and one reward each day. Little by little my life is coming together, im getting organised, feeling like an adult, taking control of my environment and being pro-active. Procrastination, self-sabotage and overwhelm were my companions from childhood
The most important self-belief changes came from a recognition that not only did i have an inner critic, 'she' was much worse than most. I taught myself to like myself. I wrote down 5 things everyday i liked about myself phys, mental, emo, skillsets etc.
When i noticed i'd said something negative to myself about myself, id immediately say the opposite 3 times, i'd do my utmost to disprove those NATs. The stress i was causing myself prior was a contributor to my 'perfect storm' that set me up for and entrapped me into a severe form of ME/CFS.
I have struggled and had some small successes with meditation, yet i find my attitude towards it stops me compounding the practice. Vital as it was for my early gains, i see it as 'time wasted'. I havent yet found a way to openup and change this belief, i want to be productive too much XD Instead, i go for walks and i use flow-states such as sewing or my most recent new skill, knitting
Eating paleo-keto gave me the biggest bang for my buck brain IQ, mental & physical energy wise.
Im living my healthiest, happiest life because of the life lessons ME/CFS has forced me to learn. It was the catalyst i needed
I have started 'pre-study' for a career i have in mind. Your interview (and now im getting a touch of brainfog lol) i feel gratitude, i thankyou for the reminders, for highlighting important things id let lapse, like my sleep XD
Now im going to go do the physical task of sorting out old VHS vids to sell on ebay and give my brain a rest

This is my favorite interview I've watched on this channel of the 27 I consumed. I'm blind and deaf and it's incredibly validating to understand better the habits that have led to my success. I've recently been laid off after 22 years and I'm starting my own company. I've been scared and sad and this video is so empowering to realize that I can and will be a success using the traits that made me a success in the first place.
    Humble thanks.

Steven, I was a teacher for 20 years and now I work with adults who are unemployed, sometimes they have been out of work for years. When I talk to them I see failure, not by themselves but by the system, and I also see lethargy yet much potential in them. One day I met a guy who I had taught 14 years ago. He didn't remember me because he was really young back then, and here he was looking for a job and I thought; where did we fail you? Teachers are stressed, kids lack respect because they have been modelled disrespect.
I wish I could brew the knowledge and expertise from your guests like Jim and dish it out to everyone from nursery age onwards and the world would become a better place. Thank you for this platform.

This is thought-provoking and inspiring. I just retired as a high school special education teacher for 22 years. What excited me every day was helping my students experience engagement in learning by reducing fear and encouraging exploration. It was a joy when students could identify how they learn best and experience validation around learning.

I was so bad at reading as a kid i almost got held back in 1st grade. The summer of my sophomore year i got sick so i was stuck indoors all summer. I got so bored i grabbed a book out of my moms bookshelf. I ended up reading most of her books that summer. It helped me sooo much with speech and spelling. I need to read more! It's the best thing you can do for yourself.

Can I just say this was a profound episode! I have struggled with memory issues since I took a tough exam and apparently studied too much in a short space of time. This messed with me because prior to that, my memory was one of my greatest assets. So I had to find a way around it (taking notes). But frankly, I learned more from this episode than I anticipated and I intend to to transform those learnings into action.
Steve, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!!!. For all you do, thank you. You have no idea how many lives you are directly and indirectly impacting. Your impact is legendary. Ooooh yes, you should absolutely @thediaryofaceo give us homework. What a brilliant idea. I’m a recent avid listener to your videos. I play them in the car (even during short 10-minute commutes), and when I have to be a grownup and do chores around the house. I am incredibly impressed by whom you have interviewed, as well as your interviewing skills. I believe the people eager to meet and speak with you are a testament of your insightful and intellectual questions.
I’m sure you have a million ideas of topics and subjects, but I would like to just put out there the idea of diving into how education is failing the next generation. I am a teacher in the US, and it’s frightening what’s happening not only in my country, but around the world. I lived through a devastating hurricane, and then about a year later the pandemic. I am not arrogant enough to believe that I have any information that you would find personally or professionally insightful. I’m just an average educator observing what is going on, and trying to be what my students truly need. But with all of your influence and connections, I hope you will consider finding someone who can speak to what is happening, and hopefully how they have been able to change the status quo for those who cannot go to non-public schools.

Recently, I learned that being surrounded by people who think less of you does not mean that you are less. That it's up to you to tally up your strengths and defend yourself against those kinds of unwarranted judgmental attacks. Too many people are offended and judge-y these days, it's easy to find yourself amongst people who think less of you, even quietly.

I love this episode the most out of all the ones of yours that I've listened to, it has so much good practical advice & motivation. The one thing that has improved my progress the most in the past 12 months, well there are actually two; and one is listening to and applying what I've learned from your Diary of a CEO episodes, and I am not boot-licking, I'm just being honest; the second one is, improving what I eat simply by not eating after 7 pm, smaller portions, & snacking only on raw fruit or vegetables, I feel cleaner and healthier and think better because of that. Thanks for everything you do! Hugs in gratitude to you 🙂

One thing this great interview made me think of was an old friend who, years ago, seemed to enjoy reminding me that I had "such a bad memory" - she even called me "goldfish" on more than one occasion (memory like a goldfish). It was hurtful and made me start to believe that I did, in fact, have a bad memory. The thing is, I realized that it often had to do with birthdays, holidays or other seemingly important dates. I simply didn't care. I still don't authentically care about birthdays or religious holidays because for one, I'm not religious. She is. Not remembering those things not only didn't have obvious detrimental effects on my life, but putting in great efforts to remember them didn't have significant beneficial effects either (as well, it felt inauthentic because I would only message people on their birthdays because I put reminders my phone, so it wasn't me that remembered). I think caring about something means you intentionally give it attention and find it valuable to hold onto (for better or for worse). When that is missing, if you don't remember it, it doesn't mean you have a bad memory. It means it doesn't take up space in your brain or life. There's no point in making people feel bad about that.

I’m going to have to listen again & write notes. Wish my 19 yr old son would listen to me for longer than 3 mins with all this unbelievable poignant info for his life going forward. Wish they taught workshops in the UK school Sixth Forms with these Life hacks. Far more valuable for their young lives. Xx👏🏻👏🏻

    Diary of a CEO obsesseddd.
This has become my #1 favorite podcast of all time, I listen while driving, while cleaning, while eating lol etc.
These conversations have transformed me astronomically. Its so interesting and crazy how relatable certain elements are, like I also listen so much and remember so little too! Loool! This conversation has really really inspired me to change that.
When Jim was talking about going outside and walking in the grass and getting sun it really affirmed what my spirit's been screaming at me to do - that i KNOW i should be doing.
Every morning I wake up I'd like to walk to the park across the street from my house, lie down in the grass, bring a handful of things cause i never know what I'd like to indulge in: My journal, a couple books (which i will now be reading with my finger 😊), my laptop to write music, write my novel or whatever new idea i come up with next, sketch pad, sometimes I'd like to bring my paints and canvases, water, brain snacks... Do cartwheels, stretch, meditate, ground my feet into the earth and breathe... All under the sun... This is how I'd like to start my day everyday... And leave my phone at home!
And yes, I've had to go through some really dark experiences for my motivation to really hit new levels. Ive stopped drinking, I'm eating healthier, progressively working out and constantly looking at ways to be a better greater me.
Ughh loveddddd this episode so so muchhh.❤. Definitely going to be looking into Jims methods and implementing as much as i can into my life going forward. My challenge in the PAST has been consistency! Really excited about this journey and the growth to come! ✨
Thank you Steven 🙏🏾 God bless youu.
Annnd thats my public journal entry for the day, I hope no one read this but if you did, please keep it to yourself and wish me luck 🤭😛😘🙏🏾✨

That was really brilliant, loved this interview. Been a while since I listened to DOACEO and so glad this is the one I came across. I was literally drawing the Venn diagram as Jim was explaining it 😊
The reason I haven't listened to the podcasts for a while is because I already challenged myself to do something I thought I could never do ( might not be a biggie to everyone else but it was for me). I never got to do the backpacking travelling thing when I was a kid and it's always been on a pedestal of things I thought I would/could never do. But this May a friend and I (both in our 60s) backpacked up and flew off to Italy with just a one way ticket and two nights in Venice booked. With only a loose plan of where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see....we spent 3.5 weeks ( I know it's not that long really but I only had 5 weeks) spontaneously travelling around by bus and train, making it up as we went. We had an absolute blast... we saw so many places & did so much & met some wonderful people! This may not sound like much to most but it was massive to us; after Italy we came back to the UK, repacked and flew off the Marrakech for a week. What I learned, is that I can do anything I want and the world is not a scary place. It all comes back to your Venn diagram @jimkwik the attitude and assumptions you make about what you believe is possible and what you are capable of. So challenge accepted and completed in retrospect I think 😊 1:39:20
