unfortunately because of the initial backlash of old tmnt fas hating the changes to the team dynamics nick put it on the back burner, and slowed/stopped the merch output. Despite that tho, a gem will shine, and steadily the fandom for the show actually did start to rise (hehe), and id definitely say it was starting to set off with its story in season 2. sadly, despite being promised at least 2 seasons, they were cut short with less than half of the agreed episodes because of a change in management in nick. as someone who only started watching around the beginning of the 2nd season and falling in love w the show and its charas, it was so sad to see it get cut so short right when it was just starting to get good.
I honestly didn't even know that it existed until I saw a scene in my TH-cam recommendation. With how amazing the animation was, I watch the entire show in a week and fell in love only to find out it was canceled. They really needed better advertisement. -_-
It had really big shoes to follow. Going from a HEAVILY story driven version with steady character growth to VERY goofy, bright, laid back, silly meme version was a giant shift. It reminds me of watching the second movie right after the first, it was more silly and fun but it's a tone change from the first made it harder to warm up to as the 1st movie left an impact. I hear this version got better as it went and it's sad it didn't bloom. The animation is intoxicating ngl.
The animation and art direction are my favorite things about ROTTMNT, but the the fact that they wanted to do a different take on the franchise compared to the last three shows makes me respect it even more. If Nick had let them tell the story they wanted to, I feel like it would have been even better.

I know this comment is a year old, but the studio behind ROTTMNT is still active and making shows. I hope they get big enough that their talent is sought out again for more of this show, if not a reboot where they have more control over the story
@@candycover I don't think they're necessarily ''supposed to be'' so much as they just ''usually are in most versions''. The fact that they often all look exactly the same except for their signature colors or weapons isn't necessarily a problem since they each still always have a distinct personality and/or skill set, but I like how this show goes the extra mile to also design them with different proportions, accessories, minor details, etc. It helps them stand out even more as individuals, which I find refreshing.

I really like this iteration where their designs are meant to characterize them, as opposed to making it easier to mass produce toys (i.e. back when all of them had the exact same design so each of their action figures could all use the same model)
Eyo, 15-year-old here. I just wanted to say that Rise was INCREDIBLY refreshing to watch. The turtles actually felt like teenagers. Hell, I swear I see the exact same behaviors at school. They aren't super powered heroes looking to protect the world from all evil, they're teenage vigilantes looking for fun. They're actual teenagers
Maybe the reason why this show got so much hate is because it was announced way too soon. The 2012 turtles just ended and getting a brand new one with drastic design changes and semi-abandoning the turtles formula by doing its own thing. Turtles having different species and body types?! That's unheard of! The art-stlye looking close to Teen Titans GO?! How could they. It was alot to take in the first time we saw it, even I had to do a double take because of how different everything is. And I admit that I REALLY slept on this show, only watched it after alleged cancellation talks on twitter. As an animator and overall fan of western cartoons, I can safely say that this is one of the best cartoons Nickelodeon has ever produced right next to Avatar. The characters are different personality-wise, but they still retain their personality in a subtle way, Ralph being easy to anger at times, Leo helping out the team whenever there's down time, Mikey being his lovable goofball who just gets along with his brothers, and Donnie who is the genius but now gets to be in the center of most things because of his superiority complex. Overall, I would say that this show nailed what they were aiming for personality-wise for the turtles, and although. And the animation, SWEET BABY JESUS the animation is absolutely god-tier, watching ANY fight scene in this show can make your jaw DROP. Props to flying bark studios for the animation on this show. Finally, the overall show is just fun to watch, all the characters, the story-lines, and the over arching plot are sure to put a goofy smile on your face, I get that some people doesn't like the overly chaotic and ngl kind of cringy lines every now and then but I would atleast suggest giving the show a shot. In conclusion, for the love of all that is good, if yall still reading this overly long comment, please, DON'T SLEEP ON THE NETFLIX MOVIE THEY BE MAKING FOR THIS SHOW, PLEASE DON'T.
Nah I loved it. I just didn't like the episode's writing, it's too comedic for me. If the show is going to be comedy action, I also like it to have some dark elements and drama. Like Teen titans from 2002.

Honestly I think that happened to. I finished 2012 with all of its buildup and grittiness. And then I come to see this show and I was like- uh? I still haven’t watched it but I’ve seen clips of some of the animation for this show and it’s pretty phenomenal

@Jacob Ogbara I personally loved it because of the different take. He felt more like a father then a sensei. No "master splinter" or "sensei" just "father" and "dad". He was stupid, but funny and cared about the turtles and april deeply. And wasn't afraid to show it
I grew up with TMNT 2012 so it will always be my favorite, but I absolutely LOVED Rottmnt despite now being an adult XD Edit: One thing I really like about the show is that a lot of 2012 cast came back to voice some of the Rise characters, like: Rise Splinter - Tiger Claw Sheldon - 2012 Mikey Foot Lieutenant - 2012 Donnie Foot Recruit - 2012 Mona Lisa Rise Karai - Shinigami Rise Shredder - 2012 Splinter And also the Rise turtles evil doppelgängers are voice by the 2012 cast! It was awesome!! XD
2012 is peak TMNT imo. Incredible animated, Great story, Character for yhe first time actually felt like Teenagers. 2012 cant be beat but this show is good. Its kinda impressive that i feels like every adaptation of the turtles is almost all good. The only one i feel like is bad is michael bay turtles and probably the 3rd movie but the rest have been pretty good.

I grew up with I think is the 2003 tmnt, they'll always have a big place in my heart, but these new turtles actually seemed more fleshed out and more of a family, even Sensei is like a father first. The animation and making the turtles different turtle species is an amazing contribution!!
The fact that it returned to its 2D form makes me go crazy over it. It seriously is one of my favorite versions of TMNT (2nd being 2012). For some reason, I also mistakenly thought it was an anime because of how epic the 2D fights were.
This version felt like such a breathe of fresh air for me. After nearly four decades of TMNT, it's good to mix it up. And I'm glad more people are getting into this iteration.
I've seen a fet people talk about Rise of the TMNT but I've seen people barely talk avout Monkie Kid. Its animation is done by the same studio for rise of the TMNT and has Sean Schemmel aka GOKU voicing Sun Wukong.
tbf lego monkie kid hasnt been released internationally yet, so it's pretty difficult to properly watch the show ive been just watching it on google drives the fans make :(
I grew up with TMNT 2012. The first fandom I ever interacted with. I grew out of my obsession (or hyperfixation) but the series had a special place in my heart. This new series really worried me,I was worried Nickelodeon went the "Teen Titans Go" route. I refused to watch the first episode,but heard it was bad. Last year,I finally watched it at its fullest,I'll never regret it! This new take is marvelous,the animation is simply GORGEOUS and dynamic!! The jokes are awesome and I love the plot!! I bet the movie will be great. And honestly,I wish it continued. I really wish it did.
Rise is honestly my favorite show of all time. The animation the action the comedy the voice acting the characters and dynamics THE ANIMATION!!!! This show is just so good.

This show had heart and personality. I hate how everyone including myself didn't give it a chance once it aired. I mainly didn't because of how Splinter's personality was being lazy, and it was just kind of awkward for me. When I finally watched it not too long ago, I noticed how much personality and light it gave the entire tmnt series. Its humour and family moments just amazes me and I hate how it got cut short. I'm super excited for the movie I'm watching the hell out of it DUDE WATCH SEASON 2 IT'S AMAZING
It simple really, it uses smooth animation that you'll see in anime, but then makes it better because in the end it's still a cartoon so it can have even more exaggeration in it's animation. It's basically up-to-date. A great example is the scene on the train where everyone is celebrating, and then Baron Drarxum speaks from the shadows, and the camera zooms in on the turtles. Another example, 13:29, Barrage of punches that only a cartoon could do, something you also see in anime.
Me, having already judged rottmnt but still gave it a shot and during that time it single handedly became one of my top 3 favorite cartoon shows of all time: "It is time"
coming from a 2012 die hard fan who refused to watch rise!tmnt upon release, THIS WHOLE SHOW cultivated an extremely artistic fandom! the style was colorful and exaggerated, made with love. the turtles designs are very appealing compared to pre 2012 turtles, being less bloated looking, and the visual comedy in this show is actually impeccable. I think this show needs to continue bc its engaging, pretty, and ITS SO DIFFERENT! i wanna see what else they do with the traditional tmnt arcs! im very excited for the movie. :)
As someone who has reviewed the show from start to finish, people didn't just sleep on Rise of the TMNT. They didn't give it a chance, especially since it was released a month after the fifth and last season of TMNT 2012 came to an end. Made no better by the fact that Nick did the last season dirty especially with it's last episodes. I can go on and on but hey, feel free to. I still despise MrEnter for bashing the show because it's different.
I sadly slept on it when it was first revealed as I was too busy praising 2012 TMNT and refused to accept change. Thankfully though, I decided to give it a shot since the first episode was on TH-cam and well...I absolutely fell in love with the show. The animation, voice acting, dialogue, background art, character designs, OST, *everything* was just gorgeous. I honestly hate myself and others for treating this show like garbage when it initially came out, since it caused it to have such a short run time. But we still managed to get an incredible story with a great cast that we will forever cherish. Also Leo is best boy.
I just started watching this. It is amazing! They feel like actual teens/young adults and not just the flat 2D character stereotypes I've seen time and time again. I REALLY love this version of TMNT.
There is a significant tonal improvement in season 2 for this show. A lot of the meme-y gags are replaced for moments of character growth, and really makes the season 2 finale much more believable. It’s a lot of work to make the audience care for an ignorant deadbeat dad, but this show manages to make him the emotional core of the group. Very impressive work.
I feel like this whole thing is a sad case of people judging a book by its cover. As soon as the character designs were revealed people were unwilling to give it a chance
I absolutely loved TMNT 2012 and as lack luster as the live actions films kinda were, I loved those too. I haven’t kept up with Rise as much as I should, but I love the style and how fun the show is.
The character design and animation is amazing. It's action animation style reminds me of kill la kills style. But the show is too much on the comedic tone. This is where the TMNT 2012 version imo has the edge over.The 2012 version is a good balance between comedy and seriousness.
I could never get enough of Splinter being a badass while in disguised as a Foot Ninja. In the first episode, I was a little surprised that he really let himself go and being a couch-potato, but honestly, that didn’t really give me any doubtful for the show ‘cause I knew he would still be a badass no matter what. And as a Leonardo fan, while I was a bit disappointed that he wasn’t the leader in this version, he really grows on me. 😁 This show really needs more love and support. The smooth animation, awesome voice actors, sick fighting scene, beautiful colors, (AH! The colors, man!! 😩😩👏👏👏👌👌💕💕💕) I really hope there’s gonna be movie or a new season at least. WE DEMAND BOTH!!!

I absolutely love this show, the community is so caring and nice and I know for a fact that this show doesn’t the hate it did and still gets. Not only did some tmnt fans not have faith in the show but neither did Nick and that sucks. I’m really excited for the movie coming out this year and I hope with a wave of new fans we can get more episodes of this show, cause it doesn’t deserve a season and a half.

TMNT has always been about change. I didn't like a fair number of changes in Rise, but the animation was stunning. It was also genuinely funny. I still prepare the older series, but I'm glad to see chances being taken. I think there was a lot of potential ideas there for future series.
God this show is so good and the world is a worse place now that Nick decided to shove it in a box and kick it under the bed. At least the movie is coming out, hopefully people will realise how good the show is now that it's on a streaming service and we can get more episodes after the movie.
I never got a chance of watching Rise of the TMNT from beginning to end. Sure it takes a while to get used to it but it fun while it lasted. And it's a shame that some people never gave it a chance during its short run.
You probably didn't get the chance because it was booted to Nicktoons in horrible time slots. I only got to watch it because the PlayStation Store had the series available to buy, so I bought the 'seasons'/volumes as they come out and never regretted it, apart from the randomly long hiatuses the show took. But I blame Nick for that.
both me and my girlfriend slept on this show and kept away from simply because of wel.. us not liking change, simple enough. the designs, the fact raph was leader, that sorta thing, we were so used to 2012's turtles, we didnt want to look at rise and simply looked at it as the equivilant to Teen Titans Go. me and her for the last month or so now, have looked back on this show and actually gave it a shot, and JESUS we missed out, this was WAY better than both of us thought, and we both think tis hte best iteration of hte turtles, its Unique, it goes differently than all other turtles, and it just.. is a whole breath of fresh air.
I recently started watching this show, at first I was reluctant because I grew up with this show, it's part of my childhood, etc but after a couple of episodes, the show is starting to get to me. The changes were overwhelming at first, especially Splinter, Raph, and Leo. I thought it was just a mini-series with mini-plots every episode but it turns out the plot was slowly building from the little hints from each episode and boy was I hooked. I'm on my way to finishing the 1st season yet and I gotta say the people need to give this show a shot somehow. I was shocked at the teaser posters too at first, I was one of the people who ignored the show, thinking it was another Teen Titan GO but boy am I sooo wrong, that was years ago and I'm regretting it now. ROTTMNT is an amazing show guys. The comedy is hilarious, the voice acting is good, the animation is sooooo perfect (it's almost like anime when it comes to quality) especially the fighting scene, don't get me even started with the fighting scenes. Give it a chance guys.
I actually really fell in love with Rise the second I saw it. I've always been pretty into TMNT since seeing the 2003 version and I just love how _anime_ Rise looks and comes off. Despite 2012 TMNT being the one I remember most of (since I was in my early teens when it came out) I was able to adjust to how they decided to portray characters vs how they were in 2012, like Leo not being the leader and being the wisecracker, Raph being the leader and kind loving (himbo) big brother, and the most jarring for me, Splinter being more dad like and less sensei like. And his added backstory was an interesting touch from the 2012 Hamato Yoshi version everyone knows, the one that grew up with Oroku Saki (Shredder). But I just super love April in Rise, I looked at her and I went "It me? IT ME!" a vibrantly portrayed black girl with glasses (though when Rise came out I was almost out of my teens). I think one of the older versions had a black April but to see her and not the redhead April (who I _did_ like and grew up with) was refreshing. And she's a lot more relatable to me than other April. Rise had a lot of good things going for it.
That famous picture from the comics is April, but she's white. She just has a perm. Everyone sees the curly hair and decided she's black. But it's great to hear this from you of all people because it's a testament to why representation matters.
@@phlpcockrell Oh wow! I had only seen a picture of her that time just once in passing so I think someone had colored her in because I was sure April had been black before. Regardless, I still enjoy her in Rise because of how differently she's portrayed and just how she is in general. She's black but she's not a stereotype at all and she's not the same type of character 2012 April was. Right from the jump we see she's basically family to the turtles and she doesn't hesitate to fight back when needed, even without powers. I just love that she's so new and different and that she _is_ representation. I feel like I could meet the turtles any day when I see Rise.

Even many dont like to hear that but i think many of the evil "Complainer over woke" have absolutly nothing against more diversity and representation if the character is made with love, effort and care and is not a cheap pandering cashgrab.
My favorite part of the series is that even though it’s so drastically different from all of the other TMNT incarnations, it follows the idea of the TMNT Multiverse (yes that’s a thing) and really plays with it to come up with something truly unique and enjoyable
MAN I wish this show wasn't cancelled (Because Nickelodeon decided to move it to NickGraveyard- NickToons.) I was in for this whole show when it was released and I wasn't disappointed. It was a good reboot that wasn't just another Teen Titans Go!. It was more like the Ducktales reboot. Changed up stuff with the characters but kept elements from the original version. It also really knew when to get serious,because instead of just going *PLOT! PLOT! M O R E P L O T ! W A T C H T H E P L O T .* it was sometimes just a more chill episode you could just watch and relax,and other times getting deeper into the story,especially with the Foot Clan and O U R B O I S H R E D D E R . The animation. C'est magnifique. Characters. *C'est magnifique.* Just everything. Wow.

I'm an OG cartoon fan and while I have nostalgia for the old show this has to be my favorite iteration of the turtles, like some other people here have said it's the first one that has the boy acting like actual teenagers. This was fun, interesting and a feast for the eyes.

I didn't watch any of the other versions of the TMNT in my childhood, but as a casual cartoon fan I am IN LOVE with this series. I'm sad I didn't watch it sooner but at least it was because I wasn't familiar with the franchise that much and not because I was hating on it. It's such a visually beautiful show to watch I can't get over how AMAZING the animation is. I hope Nickelodeon gives it a second chance, it's such a good stand alone series and it deserves its 3rd season

This show along with Ducktales 2017 were sadly slept on (at least Ducktales was talked about). And both reboots are fantastic in their own right.

I really like this iteration where their designs are meant to characterize them, as opposed to making it easier to mass produce toys (i.e. back when all of them had the exact same design so each of their action figures could all use the same model)

Eyo, 15-year-old here. I just wanted to say that Rise was INCREDIBLY refreshing to watch. The turtles actually felt like teenagers. Hell, I swear I see the exact same behaviors at school. They aren't super powered heroes looking to protect the world from all evil, they're teenage vigilantes looking for fun. They're actual teenagers
Maybe the reason why this show got so much hate is because it was announced way too soon. The 2012 turtles just ended and getting a brand new one with drastic design changes and semi-abandoning the turtles formula by doing its own thing. Turtles having different species and body types?! That's unheard of! The art-stlye looking close to Teen Titans GO?! How could they. It was alot to take in the first time we saw it, even I had to do a double take because of how different everything is. And I admit that I REALLY slept on this show, only watched it after alleged cancellation talks on twitter.
As an animator and overall fan of western cartoons, I can safely say that this is one of the best cartoons Nickelodeon has ever produced right next to Avatar. The characters are different personality-wise, but they still retain their personality in a subtle way, Ralph being easy to anger at times, Leo helping out the team whenever there's down time, Mikey being his lovable goofball who just gets along with his brothers, and Donnie who is the genius but now gets to be in the center of most things because of his superiority complex. Overall, I would say that this show nailed what they were aiming for personality-wise for the turtles, and although. And the animation, SWEET BABY JESUS the animation is absolutely god-tier, watching ANY fight scene in this show can make your jaw DROP. Props to flying bark studios for the animation on this show. Finally, the overall show is just fun to watch, all the characters, the story-lines, and the over arching plot are sure to put a goofy smile on your face, I get that some people doesn't like the overly chaotic and ngl kind of cringy lines every now and then but I would atleast suggest giving the show a shot.
In conclusion, for the love of all that is good, if yall still reading this overly long comment, please, DON'T SLEEP ON THE NETFLIX MOVIE THEY BE MAKING FOR THIS SHOW, PLEASE DON'T.

Nah I loved it. I just didn't like the episode's writing, it's too comedic for me. If the show is going to be comedy action, I also like it to have some dark elements and drama. Like Teen titans from 2002.

2012 is peak TMNT imo. Incredible animated, Great story, Character for yhe first time actually felt like Teenagers. 2012 cant be beat but this show is good. Its kinda impressive that i feels like every adaptation of the turtles is almost all good. The only one i feel like is bad is michael bay turtles and probably the 3rd movie but the rest have been pretty good.

I grew up with I think is the 2003 tmnt, they'll always have a big place in my heart, but these new turtles actually seemed more fleshed out and more of a family, even Sensei is like a father first. The animation and making the turtles different turtle species is an amazing contribution!!

Limited tmnt fans had issues with the show, but long time fans from the 90s who are aware of the turtle multiverse were really fond of this iteration
The fact that it returned to its 2D form makes me go crazy over it. It seriously is one of my favorite versions of TMNT (2nd being 2012). For some reason, I also mistakenly thought it was an anime because of how epic the 2D fights were.
This version felt like such a breathe of fresh air for me. After nearly four decades of TMNT, it's good to mix it up. And I'm glad more people are getting into this iteration.
I've seen a fet people talk about Rise of the TMNT but I've seen people barely talk avout Monkie Kid. Its animation is done by the same studio for rise of the TMNT and has Sean Schemmel aka GOKU voicing Sun Wukong.

I grew up with TMNT 2012. The first fandom I ever interacted with. I grew out of my obsession (or hyperfixation) but the series had a special place in my heart.
This new series really worried me,I was worried Nickelodeon went the "Teen Titans Go" route. I refused to watch the first episode,but heard it was bad. Last year,I finally watched it at its fullest,I'll never regret it!
This new take is marvelous,the animation is simply GORGEOUS and dynamic!! The jokes are awesome and I love the plot!! I bet the movie will be great.
And honestly,I wish it continued. I really wish it did.

This show had heart and personality. I hate how everyone including myself didn't give it a chance once it aired. I mainly didn't because of how Splinter's personality was being lazy, and it was just kind of awkward for me. When I finally watched it not too long ago, I noticed how much personality and light it gave the entire tmnt series. Its humour and family moments just amazes me and I hate how it got cut short. I'm super excited for the movie I'm watching the hell out of it
DUDE WATCH SEASON 2 IT'S AMAZING
It simple really, it uses smooth animation that you'll see in anime, but then makes it better because in the end it's still a cartoon so it can have even more exaggeration in it's animation. It's basically up-to-date. A great example is the scene on the train where everyone is celebrating, and then Baron Drarxum speaks from the shadows, and the camera zooms in on the turtles. Another example, 13:29, Barrage of punches that only a cartoon could do, something you also see in anime.
This show has AMAZING animation I loved the early 2000s tmnt series and the 3d animated one.

Me, having already judged rottmnt but still gave it a shot and during that time it single handedly became one of my top 3 favorite cartoon shows of all time: "It is time"
coming from a 2012 die hard fan who refused to watch rise!tmnt upon release, THIS WHOLE SHOW cultivated an extremely artistic fandom! the style was colorful and exaggerated, made with love. the turtles designs are very appealing compared to pre 2012 turtles, being less bloated looking, and the visual comedy in this show is actually impeccable. I think this show needs to continue bc its engaging, pretty, and ITS SO DIFFERENT! i wanna see what else they do with the traditional tmnt arcs! im very excited for the movie. :)
As someone who has reviewed the show from start to finish, people didn't just sleep on Rise of the TMNT. They didn't give it a chance, especially since it was released a month after the fifth and last season of TMNT 2012 came to an end. Made no better by the fact that Nick did the last season dirty especially with it's last episodes.
I can go on and on but hey, feel free to. I still despise MrEnter for bashing the show because it's different.
I sadly slept on it when it was first revealed as I was too busy praising 2012 TMNT and refused to accept change. Thankfully though, I decided to give it a shot since the first episode was on TH-cam and well...I absolutely fell in love with the show.
The animation, voice acting, dialogue, background art, character designs, OST, *everything* was just gorgeous. I honestly hate myself and others for treating this show like garbage when it initially came out, since it caused it to have such a short run time. But we still managed to get an incredible story with a great cast that we will forever cherish.
Also Leo is best boy.
I just started watching this. It is amazing! They feel like actual teens/young adults and not just the flat 2D character stereotypes I've seen time and time again. I REALLY love this version of TMNT.
There is a significant tonal improvement in season 2 for this show. A lot of the meme-y gags are replaced for moments of character growth, and really makes the season 2 finale much more believable. It’s a lot of work to make the audience care for an ignorant deadbeat dad, but this show manages to make him the emotional core of the group. Very impressive work.
*I slept on this, Clearly i let myself be blinded by the 2011 versions serious nature to appreciate how clean and smooth this incarnation is*

Yeah you really did it’s one of the best tmnt shows I’ve ever seen you can really tell it’s mostly inspired by Anime by the fights alone.
I absolutely loved TMNT 2012 and as lack luster as the live actions films kinda were, I loved those too. I haven’t kept up with Rise as much as I should, but I love the style and how fun the show is.
I would love for the movie to do well enough to have it get a revival.

The character design and animation is amazing. It's action animation style reminds me of kill la kills style. But the show is too much on the comedic tone. This is where the TMNT 2012 version imo has the edge over.The 2012 version is a good balance between comedy and seriousness.
To be honest, seeing that alpha is talking about rottmnt really puts a smile on my face

In the first episode, I was a little surprised that he really let himself go and being a couch-potato, but honestly, that didn’t really give me any doubtful for the show ‘cause I knew he would still be a badass no matter what.
And as a Leonardo fan, while I was a bit disappointed that he wasn’t the leader in this version, he really grows on me. 😁
This show really needs more love and support.

I absolutely love this show, the community is so caring and nice and I know for a fact that this show doesn’t the hate it did and still gets. Not only did some tmnt fans not have faith in the show but neither did Nick and that sucks. I’m really excited for the movie coming out this year and I hope with a wave of new fans we can get more episodes of this show, cause it doesn’t deserve a season and a half.

TMNT has always been about change. I didn't like a fair number of changes in Rise, but the animation was stunning. It was also genuinely funny. I still prepare the older series, but I'm glad to see chances being taken. I think there was a lot of potential ideas there for future series.
It got a movie, it's on Netflix. I hope this means it'll get more seasons

I never got a chance of watching Rise of the TMNT from beginning to end. Sure it takes a while to get used to it but it fun while it lasted. And it's a shame that some people never gave it a chance during its short run.
You probably didn't get the chance because it was booted to Nicktoons in horrible time slots. I only got to watch it because the PlayStation Store had the series available to buy, so I bought the 'seasons'/volumes as they come out and never regretted it, apart from the randomly long hiatuses the show took. But I blame Nick for that.

both me and my girlfriend slept on this show and kept away from simply because of wel.. us not liking change, simple enough. the designs, the fact raph was leader, that sorta thing, we were so used to 2012's turtles, we didnt want to look at rise and simply looked at it as the equivilant to Teen Titans Go. me and her for the last month or so now, have looked back on this show and actually gave it a shot, and JESUS we missed out, this was WAY better than both of us thought, and we both think tis hte best iteration of hte turtles, its Unique, it goes differently than all other turtles, and it just.. is a whole breath of fresh air.

I recently started watching this show, at first I was reluctant because I grew up with this show, it's part of my childhood, etc but after a couple of episodes, the show is starting to get to me. The changes were overwhelming at first, especially Splinter, Raph, and Leo. I thought it was just a mini-series with mini-plots every episode but it turns out the plot was slowly building from the little hints from each episode and boy was I hooked. I'm on my way to finishing the 1st season yet and I gotta say the people need to give this show a shot somehow. I was shocked at the teaser posters too at first, I was one of the people who ignored the show, thinking it was another Teen Titan GO but boy am I sooo wrong, that was years ago and I'm regretting it now. ROTTMNT is an amazing show guys. The comedy is hilarious, the voice acting is good, the animation is sooooo perfect (it's almost like anime when it comes to quality) especially the fighting scene, don't get me even started with the fighting scenes. Give it a chance guys.
I actually really fell in love with Rise the second I saw it. I've always been pretty into TMNT since seeing the 2003 version and I just love how _anime_ Rise looks and comes off. Despite 2012 TMNT being the one I remember most of (since I was in my early teens when it came out) I was able to adjust to how they decided to portray characters vs how they were in 2012, like Leo not being the leader and being the wisecracker, Raph being the leader and kind loving (himbo) big brother, and the most jarring for me, Splinter being more dad like and less sensei like. And his added backstory was an interesting touch from the 2012 Hamato Yoshi version everyone knows, the one that grew up with Oroku Saki (Shredder). But I just super love April in Rise, I looked at her and I went "It me? IT ME!" a vibrantly portrayed black girl with glasses (though when Rise came out I was almost out of my teens). I think one of the older versions had a black April but to see her and not the redhead April (who I _did_ like and grew up with) was refreshing. And she's a lot more relatable to me than other April. Rise had a lot of good things going for it.
That famous picture from the comics is April, but she's white. She just has a perm. Everyone sees the curly hair and decided she's black. But it's great to hear this from you of all people because it's a testament to why representation matters.
@@phlpcockrell Oh wow! I had only seen a picture of her that time just once in passing so I think someone had colored her in because I was sure April had been black before. Regardless, I still enjoy her in Rise because of how differently she's portrayed and just how she is in general. She's black but she's not a stereotype at all and she's not the same type of character 2012 April was. Right from the jump we see she's basically family to the turtles and she doesn't hesitate to fight back when needed, even without powers. I just love that she's so new and different and that she _is_ representation. I feel like I could meet the turtles any day when I see Rise.

Even many dont like to hear that but i think many of the evil "Complainer over woke" have absolutly nothing against more diversity and representation if the character is made with love, effort and care and is not a cheap pandering cashgrab.

My favorite part of the series is that even though it’s so drastically different from all of the other TMNT incarnations, it follows the idea of the TMNT Multiverse (yes that’s a thing) and really plays with it to come up with something truly unique and enjoyable
MAN I wish this show wasn't cancelled (Because Nickelodeon decided to move it to NickGraveyard- NickToons.) I was in for this whole show when it was released and I wasn't disappointed. It was a good reboot that wasn't just another Teen Titans Go!. It was more like the Ducktales reboot. Changed up stuff with the characters but kept elements from the original version. It also really knew when to get serious,because instead of just going *PLOT! PLOT! M O R E P L O T ! W A T C H T H E P L O T .* it was sometimes just a more chill episode you could just watch and relax,and other times getting deeper into the story,especially with the Foot Clan and O U R B O I S H R E D D E R . The animation. C'est magnifique. Characters. *C'est magnifique.* Just everything. Wow.
I was one of the Rise haters when it was first announced, but when they first showed the opening all I could see was the effort they were putting into it. And as long as they're actually trying, I couldn't bring myself to hate it.
The hate is unfathomable to me, even if it wasn't someone's cup of tea, why slander it? It's a fun, colourful, and stylish show with representation but people really refused to give it a fair shot because it was different. It's utterly devastating... Like cartoons aren't allowed to be fun and goofy once in awhile???
I know about rise and tried I to tell youtubers that's looking for a great hidden gem of show, film projects and pilots.
I'm an OG cartoon fan and while I have nostalgia for the old show this has to be my favorite iteration of the turtles, like some other people here have said it's the first one that has the boy acting like actual teenagers. This was fun, interesting and a feast for the eyes.

I really truly think the show deserves two more seasons I didnt watch it till like 2 months ago. Still only seen the first season i cant find season 2 anywhere
i will admit when i first saw the first episode i was not much into it maybe cuz of the art style but as i kept watching it it grew on me this show have alot of amazing moments it's sad to see it to soon atleast there is still gonna be a movie
The one thing this show was missing, was a crossover with previous Ninja Turtles series.

I didn't watch any of the other versions of the TMNT in my childhood, but as a casual cartoon fan I am IN LOVE with this series. I'm sad I didn't watch it sooner but at least it was because I wasn't familiar with the franchise that much and not because I was hating on it.
It's such a visually beautiful show to watch I can't get over how AMAZING the animation is. I hope Nickelodeon gives it a second chance, it's such a good stand alone series and it deserves its 3rd season
I dont think it will ever beat 2012 turtles for me cause that's peak Turtles in my opinion but ive loved this new series and i certainly havent slept on it.

I love rise of the tmnt, I seriously hope nick reconsiders continuing the show or at least finishing the 2nd season.
I actually saw the show around 2019 but I didn't think to much of it but now that I've seen all the eps I'm already starting to miss the show this show was the actual reason why I started drawing again
Not sure if it was announced at this time but rise of tmnt is getting a netflix moive in August and it looks seriously amazing.

The fight scenes, the relationships, thenotmarysueapril, I LOVE IT. The creators really worked hard on this show and honestly, John Cena went hard on his role. The story had me hooked, especially the end of season 1. I hope they finish season 2 cause I’m too hooked on this show to continue living
If this show taught me anything. Is that that fans don't appreciate new ideas to old franchises and want the same thing over and over and OVER again.

I was watching this, and that one Joel with mast splinter climbing up the ladder made me chuckle, tv shows haven’t made me do that since 2014! Man this show actually seems good, to bad I only have Netflix
