The 2009 vlog quality is what I love about these Zealand ramblings.
They usually control who can ask questions. But since this is a CONMEBOL tournament they don’t.
This reporter has been blackballed for years so the minute he got to ask a question ggg knew it was payback time
You can blackball journalists? That's pretty tyrannical from the ussf
@@woutveken7452 any league can, not just the ussf. usually it can happen on a team level tho and not the whole league. Like if Real Madrid doesn't like the questions you ask they can ban you from their media days but you could still ask questions to Barca. at least in theory. For the most part it usually happens i assume when a journalist is caught doing an actual crime (and somehow still has a job) or does something unethical like hate speech
Poor USSF couldn't vet the questions to protect Gregg this time lol.
good, it'll prevent them from protecting failures
Acording to reporters in the room the US media director tried to stop the guy from asking that question. Seems like the US knew who he was and what he was going to ask and wanted to keep him quiet. That why Gregg laughed at the reporter.
bielsa got asked if he likes mcdonalds
Typical USMNT moment
Well.. did he?
Did not expect to run into you here 😳
@@lommeuld69 he said no
@@saelk09 thank you.. now are we getting our pitchforks or nah?
Berhalter 🤝Southgate - Playing well below expectations and yet always somehow employed.
Southgate's track record is much better than Greggs. Expectations on England have long been way too high.
@@jackied962no, they haven't. It's not unrealistic or unreasonable to expect a country that consistently produces world class players to win one fucking tournament. Expectations are rightfully high.
@@Icarus07c Having the Premier League hypes up and overpays so many of these guys just to have an English player on the roster. Not surprising it's the guy that left England had to prove himself in another league that bailed them out.
@@Icarus07cEnglish bias. You’ve guys have had stronger teams that never won anything idk why’d you’d expect England to run through the tournament lol
@@jackied962 sounds like you're just upset that the team you despise so much won.
Zealand talking about the USMNT is slowly becoming my favourite genre of content
Any American football youtubers talking about the USMNT's shortcomings are always a good watch
USSF has shown no interest in actual USMNT on-field performance
That's a good way of putting it. They have their own corrupt priorities
@@ninjalectualx As I posted on Tac's channel:
A lot of media, including some in the "mainstream", are saying "there is pressure on GGG to win this game" or that "this is a must-win game". What evidence is there that USSF considers getting out of the group a bare-minimum achievement? What evidence is there that USSF has ANY performance expectations for the USMNT? USMNT fans can complain about GGG all they want, but USSF probably only really cares about whether the pay-to-play systems feeds enough money into their pockets. In as much as the USMNT serves as a carrot for that pay-to-play system, they care. Having a wholesome, slightly charismatic coverboy like Puli (not to take away from his formidable soccer skills) is all the PR the USSF needs from the USMNT. Why is GGG's "system" forced down to the youth levels? To serve as a carrot for that pay-to-play ("oh look, your son excels in the youth system which provides a pathway to the senior team")
they have no interest in growing the game at all over here, they'll keep gregg and give favor to mls forever because it makes just enough money to keep the federation paid, even when it hinders the growth of the sport
Things are changing though now that Relevant Sports and Apple have invested a lot in trying to grow soccer in the USA and they will swing a much bigger stick than the USSF will in deciding Greg's fate if he loses.
It's me, I'm the guy from World Soccer Talk who asked him the question
is it true that you've been blackballed by the ussf?
@@TehStormOGI’ve heard that not asking softball questions makes us soccer revokes access
Asking the real questions, kudos to you kind sir.
@TehStormOG Well I only seldom get to cover the national teams (I live in the Memphis area). So I won't know if I'm blackballed until I try to apply for another game when they're somewhere close to me like Nashville.
But at the last two games I've done (2021 vs Canada and 2023 vs Ghana) I have not been allowed to ask Gregg questions. To date, those are the only two games I've covered where I haven't been allowed to ask questions across USL Championship, NISL, or NCAA
@lawrencedockery9032
How did they appoint the Berhalter brothers back to back to compete with the likes of Bielsa?
American coaches, I have to admit I haven't liked many.
Maybe Armas and I guess Bradley was OK.
But Marsch and the berhalters and co, just seem naive and lack any kind of adaptability or detail... a bad combo...
Then there's all of the nepotism and in fighting.
I think a more pertinent question might have been-
Give us one reason why you're a better fit for this particular job than actor Jason sudeikis
Ps have you guys met ?? Or?? Zealand is right he knew what you were going to say
This game against Uruguay is going to be great. Us fans are in a win win. Either USMNT wins and we get through to the knockout and its the best win we've had in years, or we lose we get grouped and bye bye Berhalter!
That's my hope. But idk...do they really make the change before the world cup? We can only hope!
They won't fire Berhalter. They will pretend its not his fault and 100% Berhalter is at the World Cup.
There not going to get rid of Gregg they’ll find another reason to keep him
Zealand the reporter in question (Lawrence Dockerty) is claiming Gregg was so confused at the beginning because Michael Kammarman (US Soccer Communications Director) was signaling for Gregg not to call on him. Apparently he’s been trying to blacklist him from asking questions for a few years
US Soccer gatekeeps access to its staff. If they don't like your coverage, you stop getting access.
He looked more uncomfortable than Mark Goldbridge 7-0 down
Goldbridge: (thumping floor) 7-0?! 7-0?! 🤣 🤣 🤣
The USSF dont allow press questions that are critical of greg, the person who asked literally wasnt allowed to ask questions in the other four matches hes covered. There is a long black list. Im so sick of this shit man.
No Berhalter firing 1 minute after upload? Fell off
No replies to this comment before mine? Bro fell off
You can have Southgate from us if you want 😂😂
He’d probably do quite well there tbh. He’s good at all the general management around the camp etc, and would suit him better than a club league season.
"They're the same picture" meme
Fire that burgerhalter guy👎🏽
Burgerholder.

😂
Writing before your response. Literally spoke this aloud, thinking on my feet.
"My performance, the team's performance, and what we do based on the tournament... that's something for the Federation to decide. It's not really for me to decide or comment."
Seems easy enough to deflect.
Edit: So... Berhalter used the same answer, but like, the minimalist version of it 😅
That’s the good old media trained uncomfortable answer you said, but he somehow made it even more uncomfortable 💀
@@normharr It's as if someone has briefed him before on the kind of answer he should give. But what he did was literally just repeat the *kind* of answer, rather than elaborating or expanding on it in any way.
Here after the US Uruguay game. If this guy doesn’t get fired, it’s 110% nepotism.
You weren’t going to beat Uruguay anyway. Losing to Panama was dreadful though
oh there's gonna be a real ranting video soon
It threw him off bc this guy from world soccer talk hasn’t been allowed to ask a question for years since they started silencing journalists that actually asked harder questions. It’s like the federation just let turned on him live on air
Goldbridge said it best: "It's like the Titanic is sinking and instead of getting the lifeboats, you are arranging the deck chairs!"
When will Zealand let Zealandism go? This hostage situation is insane.
Fr dude's creating an unhinged plotline at this point lol
Southgate to be next US men’s boss
Nah fr he should go to Utd so I can see Mark Goldbridge's reaction. 🤣
Video today is gonna be crazy ^^
He said "Gregothy" lol
the american trent grimm was actualy incredibyl diplomatic, the og trent would have asked "can you survive not winning the next game and follow up how could you possibly?

Are you going to talk about the robbery Chile suffered against Canada? something so obvious that the Conmebol himself said it was an error and Moise Bombito should have been sent off and not Gabriel Suazo?
Thumbnail made my g look like he didnt know of the invention of the shower
Gret analysis! I finaly see progress from American football journalists asking tough questions that the American fan base wants answer. We want to continue to apply tough questions from our media that indicate that the U.S.A is a American soccer culture influenced by several factors, media journalsit, and the growing diversity of its fans.
Vibe didn't get him hired. It was his brother.
The USSF honestly could care less about on field results. The last time they genuinely showed any sort of interest for on field performance was when they hired Klinsmann in 2012 [yes he sucked]. Now all they care about is improving profitability. Just look at how they've raised the avg ticket price and attendance has lowered drastically yet they celebrate and flaunt it.
On another note: The Copa America knockouts make no sense.
The quaters are played out between the winner and the runner up of the groups so A vs B and C vs D. That makes sense. But why is the semi-final between the winner of A vs B and the other winner between A vs B? That would mean that two teams from the same group could easily face each other again in the semis. Isn't the knockout draw usually made such that teams from the same group can only face in the final?
Video almost blurry enough to make Zealand's mustache look full
The journalist was Lawrence Dockery--who hasn't been allowed to ask a question a US Soccer presser (on purpose) for a very long time.
That’s the look of a coach that has been insulated and protected from any criticism by the Fed. Which is more than anyone can say about any USMNT coach in team history.
Z,
I beg you to talk about the only, and i mean the o n l y team in the world, that has managed to have a fully unbeaton season. It is Raja Casablanca. They achieved an unbeaten double of league and cup like Leverkusen and their coach (Josef Zinnbauer) previously coached HSV and the Orlando Pirates
He had a mini stroke the moment he started to answer 😂
Berhalter did not resign. His contract ended after the 2022 WC. While USSF waited a while to start a "search", Anthony Hudson and BJ Callahan did very well. Well, they kind of played poorly after GGG was rehired but BJ was still coaching the team.
If you can't handle the pressure of a journalist's question, how can we expect you to handle the pressure of a press.
Apparently this journalist doesn’t get called on very often because typically USSF has a PR person who calls on journalists to ask questions (and they’re obviously selective about that) but at Copa America the USSF PR person doesn’t have that authority to limit questions
We all know he wouldn't do his own press conferences 😂😂😂
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Hell yes
longest title in zealandism history
It's a funny time that as far as the United States and England, the worst things that can happen for them is doing well or making deep runs in the tournaments that they are in currently. Both desperately need a coaching change before the next World Cup and I'm willing to guarantee that at least one of them will do well and will be doomed to keep a terrible coach that will hold them back in the World Cup 2026
Also, I still can't believe that Zealand really went across the world to avoid setting up that background, the means that this man will go to for an excuse is unbound!
Today is a historic day for this channel
They could have made a clean break after the World Cup, or even after he threw Gio Reyna under the bus. Bringing him back was, and continues to be, inexplicable.
Ahhh the vibe. Great feature by which to choose the team coach. I think US is doing so bad because he just run out of original jokes and vibe goes down.
z waiting on the england video
As soon as I saw it, Gregg Berhalter’s face brought one name. And ONLY one name. To mind.
Adam Gase.
Still think it is fun that Zealand has a phone with an extreme higher degree of video quality on him, where he could input these headphones, create a Vlog, and upload, and he chooses that Webcam from a Laptop, that looks like it came from an old nokia phone, from the day of the numberpads. i KINDA think my N95 had better video :-D
Zealand why are you posting during the euros? I'm going to have to comment without having seen the video now. You forced me to do this
He cursed Georgia goddammit!
composure stat of 2 on FM
I fucking love ur account bro. It feels like the moist critical clips about bad Star Wars and Dr. Disrespect, but football flavored.
Being friends with tactical manager is kinda crazy
Gregg is the perfect picture of cognitive dissonance in this moment. He can’t imagine that he could be challenged like this.
3rd most talented team in Copa America more like 3rd team to get knocked out of the tournament
cant handle pressure for min , imagine 90 min :D
Thoughts on a potential CONCACAF-CONMEBOL merger?
I'd personally be very interested in it. However, there are some issues.
1. Copa América would need to have a qualification process of some sort. Totally reasonable and can be implemented.
2. Club tournaments could be difficult however. Let's assume that the Copa Libertadores becomes the main tournament. That's a lot of competing clubs competing over long distances. There probably would need to be geographic based groups like the AFC Champions League. And at that point it's essentially two tournaments with a "world series" type of final.
@@BloodRider1914 sounds doable
bet you was gonna make a video about england but its coming home!!!!!!!!!!!!
For a second on that response he was channeling his inner Biden
haha this guy thought America was 3 rd best in copa America
Gregothy
And to think they could have had Jesse Marsch as their manager instead of putting up with this shit...
Very easy answer too
Yes
"Gregothy."
-Zealand (2024; post fall-off)
I swear to God, the feeling i get is that if he is fired, the US Federation will go for the worst possible option. They will probably go for Southgate if he is fired by the end of the Euros.
Answer is yes
So Eric TenHag was in a similar spot and he was a victim, but gregg and Southgate are victims
Why does Eric get a free pass?
re-read your comment aloud, and see if you can figure out when you should have offered a selection of dressings to go along with this salad.
I assume my English might have been off sorry😅 I'll try to write better next time I'm still learning it
He doesn’t, the Man U board is just stupid
Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if Darwin put a hat trick pack the USA.
That’s an obvious question
how is someone seeming uncomfortable after being asked if they should be fired a bad thing? yeah, no shit they are uncomfortable. "It's not my decision" is a good answer. Football fans are insane. I don't think he's a good guy but man, it makes sense.
It's hilarious that USsoccer has protected this guy like he's the jesus christ😂😂😂
I don't think there is much wrong with his response.
Gregg Berhalter and Gareth Southgate. Two of the most hated coaches right now and both proven to be tools. USMNT and FA will never fire them because they are protected(Gregg has his brother to thank for that).
Never pictured myself saying this even 5 years ago but, Canada are comfortably the best team in Concacaf right now
And were not even good...
Berhalter should have been fired back in 2018 after missing the WC and I have no idea how he has lasted this long
As an American i have to say I wanted nothing more than to honestly get grouped so Gregg would go. I never imagined it would actually happen especially with the draw. Now that we are here this sucks. At least Gregg will be gone though!
I can't wait for the vid about England's shithousery
I disagree with the sentiment that he should blurp out some bullshittery instead of simply saying "that's not for me to determine". He said the right thing, just get on with it.
Gregg didn't seem to know what's coming. You're speculating and at worst lying
I surely am not the only one likening Z’s style to MoistCritikal. Like a Penguinz0 for soccer. Perfect.
Who’s that?
@liam3104 - another tuber who reacts to drama. Like, literally, ANY drama. All while 🤡ing on the people involved
He should be fired by now lol
I will be happy if we lose just so we can get rid of him. He is an awful manager and we need someone better going into a World Cup
I enjoy a little awkwardness
berhalter should’ve been gone years ago
he’s proven that he’s not a good manager, he doesn’t command the squad, and he can’t compete with any other manager in concacaf much less the world
The answer is yes. He should be fired. Idk why we let him come back on. I dislike him very much as a person and a coach and its not because all the other bullshit behind the scenes. It's how he acts and how he used the players available to him.
Gregg is a brat
Sorry, but this fcking question is like the "how are you" of interview questions. I has 0 thought behind it. Every time a coach is doing poorly the good old "Should your job be on the line" pops up. Like seriously, what the hell kind of response do you expect to get?
Sometimes, I agree with this sentiment. However, the point of the question is to try to catch someone off guard and hope they give a real answer (or get mad at you). It's not a question you ask expecting a real answer.
Are you serious about the idea the media hasn't had Gregg in the hot seat? I mean, I guess you could claim that if you never opened the internet for 5min. Honestly, this seems like you and several other people pretending in an alternative reality to confirm your bias.
Canadian soccer fans eating so good right now. Mexico and USA in the mud. You love to see it.
Fortunately for American fans if you look up his last name every single media outlet is calling for him to be sacked.
There were so many Americans clowning Canada after we hired Jesse Marsch... all I can say is, hope you enjoyed getting grouped after being drawn with Panama and Bolivia, and enjoy co-hosting the World cup in 2026 with GGG still at the helm...
God bless Conmebol
