      eh, its half true, lowers inhibition, but also makes people want to be in the limelight more, thus being more loud, provocative, etc.

      @Talisguy 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +16

      I don't fully agree with this. Acceptable public discourse can change quickly and alcohol can make you forget yourself momentarily.
      If you're brought up around bigoted attitudes, then not repeating those attitudes can take constant self-monitoring. Like, if you're in your sixties and what we would now regard as casual homophobia was just an everyday part of conversation for most of your life, I can buy alcohol lowering your inhibitions enough that you forget that this isn't considered OK by mainstream society anymore.
      But if you take no responsibility and blame the entire thing on alcohol, that's a big red flag.

      It's a decline because the polls had been showing their vote share slowly increasing and recently bringing them to the same level as the Tories. Then, after the recent incidents, they have slightly declined. So they are no longer on the same level as the Tories. I think the point is they had a relatively high ceiling at about 24% if they campaigned well. But they didn't campaign well and really the only momentum they gained was when farage returned. Since then they've done nothing right and the polling shows that. They could have been an alternative to the Tories and even tempted Labour voters across. But instead they just proved themselves to be a party of crazies and in support of Putin. That obviously has a much smaller target demographic

I'm from Australia and we have preferential voting, there are plenty of things that aren't done well here but the voting system is still far better than most other democratic states. If you're further left or right of one of the two major parties you can give your first preference to the protest party but still preference one of the major parties above the other major party so you don't waste your vote.

Even as Tice explained their enthusiasm for running stood out, while they had no communication with the rest of the party at all afterwards. Their resignations were strategically timed to muddy the news surrounding Reform in the last week before voting and of course if you hate Reform, including the BBC who have a financial reason to do so you are going to eat that story up and promote it without any display of the suspicious elements. The other Reform candidate had said he was offered financial incentives to step aside back in May.

      @@dftfire allegedly he turned up with two strangers in his car (who turned out to be the journalists), and the trio tried to goat other party members into saying something inflammatory. After failing consistently, they then "captured" footage of him saying bad things, in his acting accent. It's an open and shut case IMO. But, this is politics, there will never be an official investigation, but that doesn't mean nothing happened.

      My reply, adding context, was silently deleted. Allegedly the actor turned up with two others (from the channel) and all three tried to get negative clips from other members. When they couldn't, they instead recorded some lines from the actor and published that.

    0:13 no mention of Labour’s vote share tanking??
    Nah ignore the 10% they’ve dropped since the start of the year and focus on the maximum 4% they could have lost. Ridiculous.

      @Esponer วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It's not ridiculous, it's just not an interesting story in itself (and simply not what this video is about). It's a normal thing to happen in the run-up to the election that the frontrunners lose some of their lead, and it doesn't change that we're looking at a Labour landslide. The flip side of it - the Lib Dem spike - is much more interesting. And a dip in Reform (or not) is also interesting: a potential 4% dip is huge when the question is whether Reform will beat the Tories in vote share.
      There are a lot of extremely sensitive Reform supporters in this comment thread.

      @@Esponer no.
      Why are they not commenting on the reasons people are turning away from Labour. That is very interesting. What caused them to lose 10%?
      What they are doing now is typical politics. Make it feel like there is a consensus that reform are not worth voting for, so that people don’t vote for them. Make it seem like no one else is.
      This is used all of the time across the world in elections. Famously in Mexico they cheated by rigging it so it looked like the party were winning when they actually weren’t, so that people would not bother to vote.
      You may think people are sensitive but that’s only because we are aware of the crap that goes on. Because it is only ever attacking anti-establishment politicians.
      I’m glad Corbyn wasn’t elected in the end but it even happened to him too. It’s not a ‘left or right’ thing.
      You’re doing some great defence by arguing that a drop of 10% for a consistent time period is less interesting, and isn’t considered ‘tanking’, but Reform losing maximum 4% in the span of week is.

    Polls are consistently wrong. The media give them far too much credibility because they need headlines.

    I don’t think it’s fair to write off an inside job for the campaigners. Too many coincidences and irregularities with it to make such a definitive comment on it.

      Definitely, it’s all very fishy with this reporting. The mainstream media are vey lack lustre in scrutiny to these acts

      If you weren't mentally twisting and contorting to make unrelated dots join up, you'd immediately realise how stupid this whole conspiracy theory is.
      In order to embed the "plants", Channel 4 would have to have known Farage was returning to lead Reform causing a surge in their support before he'd actually done it. And since even Richard Tice had no idea Farage would do that, it's a non-starter. Then there's the factor that C4 would have to pay someone to willingly obliterate their own personal reputation on TV. Frankly, no one's going to do that as no amount of money would be worth it. Besides, surely a paid plant wouldn't use their real, traceable identity!? Not to mention the 7 levels of s**t that would descend on the corporation if they were found to have faked the whole thing. Not only would a 40 year record of broadcasting excellence in news journalism be obliterated overnight, they'd likely lose their broadcast licence over it and obviously that's simply not worth it to sting a minor functionary within a minor UK party.
      Frankly there's no need to bother stitching Reform up. There's so many racist flies buzzing around the party's stench of bigotry that the act of finding and catching a few is bloody easy. Reform stitched themselves up by not working harder to swat them themselves.
