Your turn 👇
1⃣ One thing you really want to talk about
2⃣ One thing that has surprised you, positively or negatively
3⃣ Your England audit
Go!
1. How they are very few good footballers and good football matches .
2. Surprised by how awful the European game is compared to AFCON
3. England are terrible because Smellingham is overrated as if Foden and they don't have a playmaker.
How do I change my name on TH-cam lads ?? Lmao
1. The importance of constantly moving when attacking.
2. Why has no one gone for Mamardashvili when he's arguably a better goalkeeper than Donnarumma?
3. Defensively decent, but too fearful and static in attack. Tie into number 1, they look very rigid in position when attacking, no runs being made so there's no plan of attack, gives time to recover for defending team.
@@branolukwesa3538riiiiight AFCON is better 🤣
Here, take clown card
I want to talk about the mentalness of the fandom. Every game we have a new scapegoat. Game 1 was Trent. Game 2 was Foden and Kane. Game 3 was Bellingham. The last two tournaments it was legitimate to criticize the squad selection. The squad was picked on reputation and experience rather than form. This time Southgate should be praised for taking risks. I don't think blaming individuals off the back of 1 or 2 games is sane behaviour.
What's surprised me is just how bad England have been. No energy, no desire, no fight. They don't look like they have a second gear let alone running through all the gears needed to win it. The Slovenia game was painful.
Q: What do you call a Scotsman in the knockout stages of a major tournament?
A: An analyst.
Ouch. As a fan of Croatia, I can understand the pain the Scots are feeling. I can assure you a little bit of both countries died out there on the pitch in the last minute of each of their last games. 😢
I miss the old Tifo. The daily live streams during Euro 2020 and World Cup 2022 were brilliant.
I misss tifo tournament podcasts please bring them back 😕
The lack of daily EURO streams from Tifo has been a big disappointment. It was a key part of my EURO 2020 and World Cup 2022 schedule.
I do miss those. Peak Tifo
Tifo has been a disappointment in general the past year or so
@@ewancartney9360 the foot has grown unfamiliar with the gas
Yes. This. One millions times!
You mean Athletifo? @@ewancartney9360
Since youve merged more and more with the athletic youve lost your identity somewhat. Stuff like this is a step in the right direction.
I missed the whole Tifo videos /podcasts which by all accounts was a great eh thing....these videos aee great but quite short. I hope there will be more from the guys. Its great fun and very insightful
I do like the new format. The Podcast and Streams were great though. Really miss the daily streams during tournaments though
Georgia, Slovenia and Romania were really impressive
And Austria too
they really wernt. romania prob worst team in the group and finished top lol
@@toosleepyforeverything yeah they played well
And Austria, criminal to forget Austria
I really want to talk about how much more fun it's been to see the "smaller" teams face each other and give it their all than it's been watching the "big" teams struggle to get anything done.
What's surprized me is Austria actually living up to its dark horse status so far. Usually, the team predicted by most to be the dark horse going in to the tournament (Turkey 2020, Denmark 2022) fails to deliver on that status.
England has been woeful, but in the somewhat defensively assured way that I (not being English) worry they're going to have a Portugal 2016-type run and ruin this exciting tournament with their boredom. Especially now that they've once again fluked their way into what should on paper be an easy run to the final. The same worry applies to France, except of course that they're running the gauntlet in the knock-outs, but that means they might break our hearts time and time again.
Best games so far from memory have been Turkey-Georgia, Croatia-Albania, Netherlands-Austria, Switzerland-Hungary and probably another obvious one i'm forgetting.
Aside from Spain and Germany (and Portugal in the first two games) - really been disappointed with the showing from the "favourite" countries so far.
@@battlep0t SPAIN ITALY
I miss that welcome. "JJ Bull the Bullard and Jonathan dog McKenzie" "heu, heu"
With Guehi banned from next match, Foden gone home, and Trippier injured, it will be interesting to see what they do. I suggest Gomez LB or go to back 3.
These guys are gold.
Heeeeeello and welcome, to what is almost the thing you love but not quite, but close enough to still enjoy
Please please do the daily podcasts (livestream at the end of the day after all the matches are over) again for the round of 16 onwards!
Points are bad 4 life!
Really disappointed about the lack of Euro 2024-related podcasts/streams
I think one thing you guys didn’t acknowledge when you were talking about France is that they build their team around Mbappe. Yes they try and make it more than the sum of the parts, but that’s because there is a clear structure to have Mbappe as the focal point.
What would be really interesting is to get your views on who this England team should be built around and how you would do it. I know you did talk about it a little bit but I feel like that’s a huge topic!
Personally, I’m not convinced by Foden for tournament football. I think Bellingham and Kane make more sense. We had Kane for the 2018/20/22 tournaments and it was effective. Plus prioritising those two might be complementary as Bellingham can crash the box whilst Kane pulls deep like he likes to do. Then you have Gordon and Saka on either side.
Mctominay? A Champions League level player? I think you mean Championship.
Please do discuss what are we doing here.
Could somebody please send the segment about Spain's use of Nico Williams to Gareth Southgate and hopefully the penny might drop that he could use Anthony Gordon in a similar role
Is this the podcast? Is it back for the knockout stage?
England need to build the team around Saka and Rice. Simples.
Kane would've had golden boot by now if it was for lack of chances
Did I just hear McTominay Champions League level player?🤣
So it wasn't just my ears taking the piss!
They said championship level player
Taught me that I'm right.
What are we doing here?
Bring back the podcast
Bring back euro streams
We like football but we prefer goblins and piles
The boys are back??
Rodri the destroyer
Why spend soo much time talking about the worst team in the tournament? Scotland were horrible to watch.
Because he's Scottish and it's a UK-based outlet? There's a whole world of football based channels out there if you want more coverage of Germany or Denmark or whatever.
@@wba6787 It was a podcast about Euro 2024.
Just my opinion on England. Why do you all point the finger at the same players.
Why csnt we talk about that 2 man midfield or itd a defensive tournament and youre play 4 attackers.
I think Saka should be replaced and also Foden rotated. Like play 3 attackers and swap for a midfielder.
Have a plan b for half time to change.
I would actually keep Bellingham and bench Foden and Saka and put on Palmer and Gallagher. Have rice and trent arnold playing the 2 and Gallagher with more pull the strings role.
Kane and Bellingham the two best players in the world. Keep them.
Foden and Saka would be amazing super subs and probably Englands best players.
People hate Rashford but why not even have that super boot like a Bale stunner we need sometimes from Rashford. And then i would have had Maddison in there too to have that flair and magic to play in Kane
NICO WILLIAMS
miss tifo irl
Welcome to the bracket of death ☠️
When JJ said McTominay was champions league level I didn’t hear anything he said after that
No wonder Germany overran Scotland, they didn't have a goalkeeper 😂
I miss joe
too much scotland content.
Hi JJ
European football is not as exciting as it was in the past!
Joe has lost weight. Has it been filtered out his bum via a tube? (Ps congrats thats great joe)
Euro is boring, Every team is playing conservative. Unlike Copa America, much more entertaining
These guys are boring. Interesting views and insights, but zero charisma
Might be the worst take of all time lmao
These guys would really suit a weekly podcast, as well as a supplementary daily podcast through tournaments.
Much better than those boring old media trained farts that they bring on these days.
Plz, bring back tifo as it was
tifo irl was the best

I am so sad this wasn’t live-streamed and extraordinarily long
I miss daily pods from this trio through major competitions where the madness slowly but surely grows each day
These guys are really good, maybe they should start a relaxed podcast about football, I'd watch that.
Funny you should say that 🤔
Still wondering how Seb's gates are.
As much as I agree with nearly everyone else in the comments, I love this trio. No matter what form they make content in I will watch and throughly enjoy. Thank you guys 🩵

@shishsuke you don't want the points
Guys stop commenting bring back the podcast - I can't like all of them!
Spain from this euro reminds me of Man Utd under Sir Alex. Very diverse in terms of different modes of attacking play... Sometimes very direct or very possession based by breaking the defensive lane quickly using 3rd man release and fast vertical passing...
EXCEPT UTD HAD A STRIKER.. OR THREE
It doesn't matter how good players are in space. Football is played on planet earth.
"IF WE WERE SUPPOSED TO PLAY FOOTBALL IN THE AIR, GOD WOULD HAVE PUT GRASS UP THERE" R.I.P
In my opinion, Bellingham is better as an 8 for england. Foden as a 10.
lads bring back the pod, the people have spoken
Love this being back, even if its just a one off. Please reconsider the tifo football podcast
yeah but how's the Points R Bad going??
Hearing Joe mention points are bad made me incredibly upset that we've missed out on it this year
Would love to see rangnick and austria on a fairytale euro run. Otherwise spain at this point look the best contenders to win
They need to go past Germany though, the only team in my books which may get a result against Spain.
I wonder what JJ Bull thinks of JJ Wolf the tennis player.
It taught us that mediocre players can make very good team and the great players can make a crap team. That even at this high level motivation and energy can trump skill.
Spain play a little bit like Klopp’s Liverpool last season. They want to build up through short passes but are not afraid to go direct either, often pushing back opposition defences with the likes of Salah, Diaz, Nunez and then creating space for the likes of Mac Allister. The variation in play seems to work better in knockout tournaments but as we saw during the season not so much in a league format.
Yes great comparison. I just fear this Spanish side won't be able to make do when they face France. They slow the game down so much and really control it.
Football punditry and commentary is about a variable balance of expertise and personality - can have more of one and less of the other, but it's always a balance. It's the backbone of Match of the Day, MNF and the best stuff the athletic put out. The Tifo boys are the *absolute* perfect blend on this front, and it is so good to see you guys making stuff together again. Jon/Seb give detailed nerdy stuff, JJ and Reuben make it fun, and Joe is there to make jokes about skeletons if it gets too complicated. Bring it back lads, you know you want to.
wow this would be so enjoyable in a podcast format ':^)
Sickos: "YES... HA HA HA... YES!"
I cheer for the punter!
It's taught us that international football is very f boring...
What a lovely lovely throwback this is
Austria will win it
The Scotland thing is very simple: there is nothing up front. It's easy for the opponent to apply pressure when they know they will not be turned. Scotland not only lack quality up front, but numbers too. No way could they play up with combinations. Play to who? Georgia, Slovenia, even Albania...almost all of these teams have some pace and/or quality up front.
Holy poo, this is so much better than the daily Athletic euros Pod
That Portugal jersey looking too much like a Robin from Batman suit 😂
Damn, once seen can't be unseen
Agree about Bellingham. I thought he was getting in the way against Serbia. I would drop him and play Foden at 10, Gordon left wing. Forget Serbia and Denmark. England were good in the second half against Slovenia and I don't see why they won't build on that.
ABOUT TIME JESUS CHRIST IVE BEEN HANGING FOR THIS LIKE A GOD DAMN ADDICT
Where have you been!?
perfectly cromulent video
Look at Ericson's three quarter finals in a row. Regardless of whether or not they should have done better, look at all the misfortunes.
2002. Pre tournament injuries to Gerrard and Neville. Beckham broke his metatarsal in April ( is that why he bottled it for Brazil's equaliser?)
04. No Rio due to the drugs test thing. Rooney breaking his foot against Portugal. Campbell's perfectly good goal being disallowed.
06. Rooney injured before the tournament. Owen limping out during the group stage. Beckham went off early during Portugal game, before Rooney followed him for the stamping.
Bobby Robson, Hoddle and Fabio could point to similar moments.
Southgate has suffered no significant injuries (depending on your view of McGuire), no sending offs, no dodgy refereeing decisions. In 4 tournaments!! I'm standing next to that man in an electric storm!!
So SAF team faced the worse teams who couldn't defend as well... REALLY
We all know defenders now are inherently poor at defending because of more emphasis being put on ball possession with a few outliers of course. The shockingly basic mistakes that are visible nowadays are factually showing how poor defenders are in terms of purely DEFENSIVE ACTIONS as many of the judgment on a defenders stats are based around successful possession rather than defending itself.
So to say players in the lower half positions in the league back then couldn't defend is wildly biased... more commonly known as RECENCY BIAS...
Im an ENG fan but when i saw Spain at +750 (bet 1 win 7.50) where ENG/FRA/GER/POR at +300 to +450 so i put some money down on Spain to win it all, if it comes home i dont care about losing ANY amount but if we crash out atleast i can follow spain and win some money haha
Started with "Thank you for being here"... finished with "what are we doing here" .. those dreadful unbalanced England performances really have left everyone all confused. 😂
Enjoyed the Spain's great breakdown vs Scotland were bad breakdown. Just goes to show the team identity out of possession defensive low block vs high pressing or in possession counterattacking vs build up play, overloads etc. rigid vs fluid tactical structures are only further enhanced with squad talent, depth and team culture.
The overall playstyle and quality of their wingers for a team like Spain (Nico Williams and Yamine Lamal) really does influence outcomes with a more vertical approach combined with positional play attacking 1v1 on the dribble or drawing defenders in to open space elsewhere. Spain can also revert to times possession based football during the build up when they need to. Looking forward to the semi final showdown with France
I don't think English people actually do want good news stories about the England team
Last Euros they even made the final and I didn't see a lot of people going "wow, what a good effort from our lads"
This time they've topped the group fairly comfortably and nobody's happy about it. I get that their playstyle is boring but come on, it's worked so far
You poms just love whinging
Great analysis as always. You guys should do some analysis of a standout historical team, like the Brazil 86 World Cup team for example. It would be fascinating to see how great teams of the past compare to today's teams.
I'm sorry but can someone check the stats on how many touches McTomminay had in all 3 games? It had to be less than the average player has in 45 minutes. My worst player of the tournament. And I like him!
Clarke out now! Two tournaments in a row his team have completely shat the bed in the same way: got blown away in the first game, gave a spirited performance in the second game, earning a draw against superior opposition, then in the third and final game - which was a must-win - they offer next to nothing. He hasn't made any improvements at all. The team haven't learned a damn thing. Time to hang it up Steve, you're done!
That Southgate & England suck. I watched the whole Austria v Netherlands & it was a great game. 10 minutes into the England game.. Christ.
Everytime someone says "premier league level player" I imagine la liga second division level.. guys, just Madrid has more champions than that premier league thing. In erupa cups the situation is the same. Please dont insult players by calling them premier league level, its like calling them second class players.
The last euros coverage podcasts on Tito irl were amazing. Bring back Iain Macintosh and also idk maybe start having fun again. Feels so much less fun than it used to be
this Euro showcase how European Football is lacking good striker, and good strikers available in market are African or South American.
I've had that exact cathartic "what are we doing here!?" at the TV every single England game.... I feel so seen 😂😂😂
There are more teams in EURO than England, Scotland, a bit of Albania & a bit of Spain 🤦♂️
Very important question: does JJ know Scotland won the boobie prize for worst team at the tournament in the sweepstakes?
International football can be REALLY boring
Better tk draw in real time so we dont have to fkcus kn who you mean with these intwrnational players if you can manage ot gopd vid though
man they should really think about making these daily. Maybe even release them as a pod-based broadcast.
Arsenal should be signing Fabian Ruiz he would be perfect for that left hand side 8
