Miroslav Musicant is the most complex player I've ever seen when it comes to independence. He has a few performances where there are 8 concurrent meters. It IS a song, a long one, but never feels boring because of the arrangement. You could check out his education books/DVDs. And yes, you talked through some of the really tasty fills there :)

You should see his video about the song "Bonnie The Cat". And listen to explain how he came up with the beat, and playing syncopated beats. You'll miss the nuances he does, and how hard it is to figure out the time signature. And yes, he's British.

Whoah, this channel is getting bigger and bigger whenever I come back here. Congrats, Garret!
Just wanna suggest you this (as you've been covering powerful songs, and this is powerful in a different way) "Lune" from Periphery/Matt Halpern.
I think you'll interested in his drumming.
    Cheers!

Gavin is an outright beast, can you do a look at something from Billy Cobham?

I was literally standing less than 10 feet away from him at Glasgow ABC with pineapple thief. One of the most surreal and amazing moments of my life

Great choice! I love this performance. Have you seen his big band version of Futile by Porcupine Tree? He's an amazing drummer

I have never seen Gavin Harrison. Thanks! The drummers that I could never copy or emulate are Dave Weckl and Bill Bruford, try as I may.

Two words, my friend: Aric Improta. His work with the instrumental band Night Verses is INCREDIBLE, dude never seems to run out of energy, both physically and creatively. You definitely have to react to one of his live performances!
