You can change the DPI in XFCE via Settings -> Appearance -> Fonts Tab -> DPI setting.

Thanks for the tip. That definitely helps make things better, but it's only a partial solution since it makes text bigger, but doesn't necessarily affect icons, toolbars, etc. For instance the close, minimize and maximize buttons for app windows are still tiny, as are the navigation menus and browser tabs in Firefox.

See if xrandr scales everything at once

maybe update the graphics driver will make you have the option to down scale your desktop resolution in linux?

Exactly! I'm pretty sure there are many xfce users with hi res monitors. I have 1920x1200 and everything looks just fine with XFCE.

If you can get Gnome3 to work it has a bit better support for DPI, rotation and touch from what I've tested on a normal Linux distro.

It's still a bit bellow Cherry Trail compatibility then? Hopefully things improve overtime...

Liliputing! I've missed ya. This device has a rockchip, so I gave it a pass, but great upload all the same.
Ok, so, you need to update your 'chroot,' update your distro, and the repo's. Then you need to install firmware, and all the driver software, codecs(If you intend on using multimedia) and then you need to adjust your screen resolution.
There aren't too many 10inch tabs running an install of Ubuntu, but with some tweaking of the resolution and messing with the dpi settings...you should be good.
*When you change the size of the 'default text,' that too increases or decreases the size of displayed text, which will, in turn, have an effect on the other rendered objects.

why not try ubuntu mate, maybe it will be more friendly towards scaling and other like issues you run into?

    - yes,, you can run Android, Linux on the Tab 10 and the 500e, But the idea of a Chromebook is to walk away from LOCAL computing and use FAST 802.11ac and FAST internet and FAST cloud systems. with PWA's & web assembly. The "Chromebook" is meant to be just a TERMINAL nothing more.
    - you could also try the $309 Lenovo 500e 4GB/32GB and 8GB/64GB versions, wacom pen, 2in1
