1968 Tonka Jeep Wrecker Snow Plow Tow Truck Recovery Willys CJ2A

- I purchased this 1968 Tonka Jeep Wrecker Snow Plow Tow Truck on eBay March of 2021. it was in super rough shape and missing some parts. It was missing the tow crane which I purchased used and added it to the unit, It was also missing the front plow and the emergency light on the hood. Otherwise it was all there just in very rough shape. The body had obviously been crushed and folded up, everything was extremely dirty and rusty. Overall it was in perfect shape for a restoration. This being my first Tonka Jeep to add to the collection I was super excited to operate on this toy. The plastic body still has a few stains but overall I'm extremely happy with how this little snow plow truck came out and look forward to utilizing it to tow in some future projects. Thanks for watching! Tonka number 2435 Tonka "Jeep Wrecker W/ Plow" CJ2A Jeep Body.

I'm a 57 yo female who, for reasons unknown, had one of CCRs' videos show up on my YT doorstep about a week ago.(??) I took the bait out of curiosity, having nothing close to interest in this hobby. A few videos and a sub later, I am now a fan. Although still not interested in taking up the hobby, I do enjoy watching the process of the restoration, and the lovely thought of how much joy this gentleman gets out of this worthy pastime. Rock on Chip!👍😎🚛
Thank you soo much Gina Disbrow!!! and thanks for joining me on my youtube adventure!!
Love your collection
New subscriber just curious are these things you restore for customers or things you have found and decided to fix or both? Love your channel. I also am a 58 yr old woman who just enjoys watching you get to a finished product. Thanks for fixing up these poor relics.
I'm 63 year's old female and the same happened to me😊and now I'm hooked and enjoy each video
@@ChipChannelRestorations Sounds like a great hobby for attracting women!
I have watched all of your videos and some of the ones from other restorers. In my opinion, you are the only one really doing it right. COMPLETE dis-assembly, metal work, powder coating with primer then the color coat with wet sanding in between. Nickel Plating...The guys that spray paint with no primer can't get finishes as smooth as yours are. Your restorations look like the toys were manufactured yesterday. Keep up the great work.
Starting to binge watch . I have seen a lot of your work and each time I am amazed by the transformation. This poor little one looks like it is saying , someone has finally found me...
Love watching the powder cook!

Hello I hello hello hello p partner howdy how or you
Oh dear, now I'm addicted to Tonka restoration videos too!
Watching it is almost a kind of therapy.
Takes me back. My dear mum bought one of those for me at the neighbourhood Woolworth's back in the day. It cost $3.79. My best friend Laurette's mum bought her a blue one. We played with them for hours on our freshly-paved shared double driveway. Happy times. Thanks for this! :o)
I lived in a small town but the Western Auto store was the place for Tonka toys.
Just for laughs I decided to look these up. I found one (in good, unrestored condition) that sold on eBay for $200.
I'm sure they lose a lot of value if they need to be restored, but it's still interesting to see what the old toys are worth.

I need to search for my blue one. Always loved to play with it a lot. And it is in mint condition still. What a great toy and quality!
My best childhood memories are my mate's and I in a dirt pile with our tonka toys.
I love that this one was more beat than usual. I found a Tonka wrecker @ the dump, got it fixed and promptly sold it. I am kicking myself now. Great job.
It's neat watching your wonderful videos at 2x the speed! Of course I ALWAYS slow it back down to normal to see Inspector Kitty!! Yay Kitty!!!
It’s a “cat” scan. 😹
I agree with Patrick and Mercedes below. I really like to see what you do to restore these old toys. But the icing on the cake are the cat / sheep interludes, I love those!
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you get as much enjoyment out of it as I do!
Really enjoy seeing you bring back to life these old and some antique treasures of a not so long ago time.
@@ChipChannelRestorations Hola buenas días megusto el trabajo que tu as echo pero y que vas a hacer coneyos 🙏💕
Sandblasting is a satisfying, interestingly calm thing to watch...
It's nice to see a channel that repairs these old classic vehicles like time capsules of my youth
Beautiful!!! Job. I am an old lady but I love these videos, you do a great job, I use to buy the Tonka Toys for my boys. It bring back the days when my children were growing up and loved playing with toys. Keep up the good work. Blessings to you and your family.
Ma'am! Such Great, Good, Kind & Gentle OLD LADIES like you (Mothers, Grandmothers & Aunts) gave boys (girls included) like me tons of joy, getting us such wonderful Toys for Christmas & kept our childhood memories Heavenly!
I am also an old lady, who bought these for my 2 sons. I agree with you, completely!

Thanks for showing us all those restorations. My brother's my cousins I think between all of them they had almost all of those. And we used to share them. When we got older they went to other members of the extended family. So cool remembering these
I love how he adds a little character with his hand motions or the toys but yet he doesn’t say 1 word
The junkyard just isn't the same without the sheep. I'm glad they're back.
What a kool 1968 tonka jeep snow plow tow truck wrecker recovery wilkys
Makes you feel sheepish, doesn't it?
@@kilowagmagnusson4590 wow u proud of that lol

I wouldn't actually call this a true "restoration " in that the quality of the finished product is far, far superior.
Well done sir.
To nearly anyone else, a Jeep with a “bent frame” would end up in a salvage yard… permanently. Not to Jedi Master Chip! Another flawless restoration. Great to see the salvage yard sheep have returned to work. Thank you for the bi-weekly ASMR fix! Cheers, John in Ohio 👍
At first I was confused wether the bent shape was intentional or not
We fix anything except-"broken hearts"!
That soda blaster and powder coating booth are must haves for this kind of work.
The sound the coating booth makes is exactly like the ship in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Looks like that jeep hit a one eyed sheep going 60 mph and came off worst. Brilliant repair as usual. Best channel.
That's a sheep shot at humour!
@@kilowagmagnusson4590 it was a sheepish attempt
@@jockdouglass3824 Ba-aa-aa-d joke!
I had one like this; a little more yellow but no blade or crane, just the jeep. Amazing restoration and many fond memories were relived while watching.
Beautiful restoration (Glad for sheep are back, don't ever stop having them featured getting up to mischief!)
Man what a difference you make in your restorations. I love watching
A towing vehicle getting towed…brilliant! 👍😉
Wow! Some kid really put thier full weight on that Jeep! It never ceases to impress me how you save these old toys from the scrap pile.
I had the Air Force Jeep, a beige Wagoneer and the Wagoneer RV. Absolutely magnificent work…and my wife loves Beaker! Please keep these coming. Seeing these poor wrecks being returned to as new condition is uplifting!
MASSIVE SKILLS!!! Exceptional knowledge of what's required! Brother, . . . YOU ROCK!!!
No matter how many of these restorations I watch, they never cease to amaze me. The time, effort, care and concern that you exhibit for each individual toy restoration can only be described as a labor of love. The finished product can best be described as nothing less than "Art". You are not only an artisan, but also an artist. ;-) Peace
Thank you, Amazing job and what's make you special that you restore real rusted and damaged toys not like other fake channels who dip some silly stuff in wet sand then bretend that they resotre rusted thing.
Another one saved from metal recycling!
And your kitty cat is lovely - what a sensational coat! Thank you!
Will admit those fenders looked totaled. When the fenders came off I thought they were too thin to save! But you saved them very good job. Thanks for sharing!
Better than new. Excellent restoration.
That could be your new recovery truck
Never disappointed watching these videos. All others are just copies after watching one of these. Thanks, I kind of grew up on tin type steel pressed trucks. Amazes me to see them brought back to life. Thank you.
I got interested in toy restoration solely from watching your videos. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship led me to try some on my own. I don't have a sand blaster or powder coat setup yet, but headed that direction. Currently using paint stripper, Dremel wire brushes, sandpaper, & rattle can paint. Please keep up the program, I am learning more with each video, many thanks for the enjoyment! B.T.W., love the sheep!
That one eye sheeple is amazing. He can drive anything! Impressive.
LOVE the work that you and kitty did! Kitty's really good at displaying the finished products.
Happy to see the sheep have come back to the rustic pile of cars and other stuff.
You got the touch, 👌 super work, very nice
I'm pretty sure I've watch every one of your videos now. I've enjoy each one of them! For some reason I especially enjoyed this one. I was thinking to myself - "hey when I grow up I want to do what he's doing!" There is something magical about restoring old, forgotten, rusty toys. Thanks!
i, too, feel soothed and calm watching the quiet, gentle way you restore these toys.
I had this one as a kid! Used to love to use my blocks and pretent I was plowing the road of snow. Thanks for the memories!!
Well you sold me. I am now subscribed to your channel. It was such a pleasure watching you restore this old classic toy to it's former glory. You have a true talent for what you do.

I love the _"transformer picture sequences"_ at the end.
I gotta tell you - as impressive as the metalwork is, I think the plastic is even more so. I know how delicate that stuff is and to get those tires and that bench insert looking that pristine with no scratches is like witchcraft.
My enjoyment is seeing you refurbish these old treasures. Thanks. Appreciate your patience and sharing.
Awesome job! Tonka made some great toys growing up. I'm so happy to see you taking time to restore all these amazing toys. You are so into the detail that it is Amazing. Thank you for sharing all of these with us, Great job!!
I so much enjoy watching you rebuild/refurbish these toys....it is so restful. I grew up very poor and we couldn't afford many toys but the couple we had (my brother and I) were cherished. Now I can relive my childhood!! It is quite thrilling!!!! I really enjoy your cat!
Awww.... this isn't so bad... I thought it would be worse... he'll be able to buff this out in no time! Beautiful restoration as always.... and it seems the sheep are very happy too!
42:28 use soapy water to apply the decals Chip. Makes life MUCH easier. Great work as always!! 👍
Amazing restoration!! I wouldn't have believed it, if I hadn't seen it. No, your decals never look crooked! I think you need a sheep with a cone of shame. (Like a veternarian visit.)
Unbelievable that wrecked jeep became a brand new one
It's magic that jeep that one appears a toy come from the factory pretty recently
Congratulations

You know I'm 46 for some reason i get satisfaction from seeing the cat and sheep in these videos. Is that weird or sad.

Come for the sheep stay for the sandblasting.
Okay, never thought you would bring that one back too spec, given how bent in half it was,but you did. Excellent work sir,and keep those sheep guarding that yard, the more you build the better.
ENJOY THIS CHANNEL!!
Your talent for restoration is beyond most. I have always liked the steel large scale toys you rebuild, miss them dearly. Awesome way to preserve the past. Keep up the great work
I had a blue jeep like this. I think that it was a US Navy version. I remember actually sitting on it and riding it down the driveway when I was about 9 years old - that would have been in 1969. Sturdy little truck! Thanks for the memories!
Ah, sweet nostalgia. I had a green Tonka Jeep similar to this one, only without the wreckers gear or the plow blade.
Tidy. Brilliant work good sir.great video again fantastic collection...thank you....
It must be very satisfying to restore these toys from an unrestorable state to a condition of better than new. Well done and keep up the good work.

Oh the days when a manufacturer spent time to engineer a toy that would last for years. The design team really did have thier stuff together, and make sure that the customer got his value for the product they paid for. Unfortunately, now a days, corporate greed, and lack of concern about the consumer value, and only to make as high as profit possible. Of course, plastic is king in the throw away generation, cheap is the easy way, and no value in today's toy's. I can't imagine what the future toy restorer will have to deal with. Let alone finding the real steal to show how it used to be. Thank you for creating this kind of content, and please keep up the amazing work.
My brother had a red one that eventually became mine. I remember putting it in the bottom of the pool and watching it roll down into the deep end. You did a great job of giving this little jeep a second life.

Awesome, I love it! Ohhh Kitty kitty, nice tabby. Having the right tool for the job is worth its weight in gold..... and you sure have some nice equipment. Im a professional model ship builder, 28 years now and I am fascinated with your work. Take care Sir, thank you for your dedication.
I saved this video for the end of my day, it's so relaxing before heading to bed. Fantastic Restoration again, so so 👍 good.
Awesome job. Mine was a truck and had metal bars that went from where your emergency light is ( mine didn't have one) to the plow and could turn the plow left and right. You used your thumb and index finger back and forth and the plow would turn right or left. I believe it went to the landfill in the late 70's😥. I do know what I am binge watching this evening. Glad I found this Channel. Thank you
That cute little sheep that gets knocked over should say "im ok!" 😂❤ 44:23
Hola buenas noches como estás savage ❤️😂 sam
She wasn't this time lol
That toy is solid. They do not make them like that today. And AWESOME work.
Beautiful work, as usual. I’m always impressed with how easily you apply the stickers. Good to see your hands have healed.
The sticker wasn't crooked, the Jeep was!🤣
I really enjoy watching these restoration projects-especially the Tonka Toys (I work in Minnetonka, MN, just down the road from where a lot of them were created). I like to buy old locomotive models I grew up with from the junk bin in the hobby store, just to see if I can get them to run again. There’s something about buying discarded old technology and making it new again that is really satisfying and there are a lot of times when the old stuff runs better than the new stuff with just a little motor maintenance. Here’s a tip for the decals; spray some glass cleaner where you’re going to put the decal. Lay it down and slide it around to position it then just let the glass cleaner dry. The decal will stick where you left it.
What an amazing transformation! I enjoy watching you restore these old toys! Thank you for sharing!
love from orrocco 🇲🇦
Im gonna come over and play in your sandbox. Youve got all the cool toys! 😁
Stunning... I always wanted this one but never got it when I was a kid... Thank you for sharing this... It really takes me back and makes me happy (even though I never got this one).

I wish you had of got one. I did.
Excellent job. You turn a toy nobody wants into a masterpiece.
Little off, not bad. We all know that even when the "Chips" are down; you will always persevere. Great Job Chip!👍
Thank you for providing another relaxing hour.
The sheep are back!!! Love it! 😂❤️ you do such a great job on these!
Those stickers were crooked when they were brand new.
Remarkable job.
Hey, the sheep are back!
As always, another great video!👍
Wow, that jeep has definitely seen better days! What a transformation.
What a total transformation!!! Any child would love to be able to play with these toys - great job!!!
Beautiful restoration, I love it when the really rough ones are brought back!
I love that brush on your drill. Maybe my favorite tool on any channel
You know as detailed as this restoration is I’m surprised you didn’t balance the tires and change the oil😳 Nice job 👍🏻
🤣🤣🤣
I was extremely bored this past Friday and the only thing that broke it was binge watching the video line up, yeah, that bored, another great restoration, thanks for sharing
Thanks soo much for watching!
It's amazing how good your restorations are despite the function you find them in. Excellent job.
😁👍

Ooo!!! I saw a truck with a carousel on it. Do that one next!
You truly have a gift for restoration !your attention to detail and craftsmanship are astonishing! keep up the excellent work , and your collection is amazing👍🏼🤩
Seeing this reminds me of a Tonka jeep I had when I was a little boy in the late 70s & early 80s. It was black with tan sides, and I drove all over the world in that thing with my imagination.
This is a sweet restoration. Loved every minute of it. Great addition to your collection. Carol from California
Great restoration had that vehicle as a child one of my favorite toys.
I feel great satisfaction when you clean these toys and show us like we are doing it with you. Awesome work boy! Loved it 😊!!
You have a small fortune in restored vintage toy vehicles. Kudos.
Tienes lo que se llama,"PTC" (paciencia,talento y creatividad)👌🇲🇽😉👋
Beautiful restoration, ott and no kid can play with them which is why they were made.
Another great restoration! Have you thought about building out one of your walls with shelving to display the vehicles? Your collection has grown so much since the beginning!
I have a real 1948 CJ 2A Jeep that I am restoring. It is in a little better shape than what you started with!
As always, you've done an amazing job on the snowplow. It is wonderful watching you bring those poor, beat-up wrecks back to life. And, I know it is silly of me, but seeing the Cyclopeep and his friends has really helped on a really crappy day, after a really crappy weekend. Thank you!
I've already listened and watched this educational video. THE RED SOX ARE ON THE VIDEO SCREEN IS MISSING.
i love how simple, yet complex tonka trucks are.
ابداااااااااااااااااأااااع وراحة نفسيه شكرا من القلب😘👍
The rust made it look like the frame was bent in the middle. You did a great job!
If the crane did come with this jeep originally, I'm surprised how good everything was on it compared to the rest of the car.
Dude is an expert genuine restorer...but for a while now I've had this awful niggling suspicion that the vehicles are deliberately artificially relic'd, to at least some degree, for the purpose of making content. Sometimes certain things just smell a bit 'off'. Such as this, for example.
