Hi there. Well done! They made the shorter 5th I expect due to the lower power from factory. Sounds like a n/a box almost. Replacing the box is probably the easiest thing to do, finding a turbo diesel box and putting that in.
@@PiggyPowerThanks m8! I am afraid of squeezing out more because it is basically the Naturally aspirated engine with a tiny turbo. It doesn't have piston cooling nozzles like the TD i read somewhere. it actually is the na box. @@mynamejeff2759 yes and definitely no
@@PiggyPower how much power do you think it will make with the 1.8 turbo d and will it hold up I’m getting my 205 in a few days
This is epic man
It was fun to do. Always love tuning up a totally stock motor. Such potential.
🐷💪
Hey, I love your videos I was just wondering will there be more videos on this engine (p.s I have lucas pump it's a 1997 peugeot 306 and I'm not sure what turbo is on it has anyone any advice for me please and thanks
Hi there .. thanks for watching and commenting... not really sure what you are asking? There might be more videos on this engine, there are few others on the channel already. 👍🐷💪
@@PiggyPower hi yes just on how to install a from Mount and where to get a good one
@@lostsheep1616 a "good one" will be custom made, probably set you back more than the car is worth. Most of us just measure the gap and then eBay one. Each car is different as to routing and position and customer preference and target power...so a one guide for all just doesn't really work.
Great vid. “Boosted” my confidence I can get my Citroen TD 2.5 to shift better. So slow, but it’s seriously heavy. Have you ever tuned one?
Oohhhh yeah, beasty heavy engine... But they often run semi ECU stuff...so bit tricky...
Piggy Power No ECU. 1992. Ancient, agricultural technology.
Nice....get it wound up!!!
Can you fit Bosch VE pump's on DW10 engines?
Yes. Need different injectors and lines though. And different camplate...few other bits. But yes they do. I can't see much benefit mind
@@PiggyPower It probably hasn't been done yet. Along time ago somebody took the DW10 engine out of his 806 and put an XUD9TE in it. He did have to make new engine mounts and modify the wiring loom bit other than that worked very well. XUD9's in are simply the best engines Peugeot ever built.
They are great for running simply... They just need one wire to run! And less that if you removed the stop solenoid!
People have done it quite a lot to be honest...
But there are so many advantages to the HDi now...that it's not worth it.
They don't boil themselves when tuned or run hard... They make power without getting dirty, just a remap... I find they blow holes in their blocks rarely compared to the xud too!
The only reason I'd go back to an XUD is to run veg oil!
Can this be done on a Lucas pump?
It can .. you unbolt the Lucas pump.... Place it carefully in a bin..
Then fit a Bosch pump 🤪👍😂
@@PiggyPower hahahaha, well i will have to do the conversion then one day hahaha
@@PiggyPower finnaly found a little company in France where they sell these for 500 euros. Gonna do the conversion this summer, and fit a taller 5th gear
@@WorivpuqloDMogh fit a taller 5th?
@@PiggyPower longer 5th gear i meant. Probably will put a TD box in it. It has the naturally aspirated gearbox
Hey will this work with a 1994 405 1.9td engine. First time playing around with a diesel project car.
Yes! It will work great! 405 is so light for its size too so it responds great to a little tune up. ☺️🐷💪
So, witch factory turbos get you more Power? The Garret or the KKK? I have also heard that the 405 or 605 Intercoolers are a bit thicker, would that get you anything?
Effort to find, buy and fit a different top mount ..just fit a front mount. The later gt15 is a little more efficient and better low down... But truly, again, the effort to switch one, not worth it. 👍
@@PiggyPower well, i got a BX Break and here in Swizzerland everything that is not factory must be Authorized, wich costs a lot of money, and if i say a lot i mean A LOT, i can Get away whit other Parts witch were factory equipped on other PSA Cars though, so a bigger intercooler would be a big help, i already have a Catless Downpipe installed from an earlier Model Turned up the Pump and am Running about 1.1-1.2 Bar of Boost at the moment, would like to maybe get a tiny bit more out of it and seeing as i know a guy in France who owns a Junkyard i coud get some factory components like the Intercooler out of a Peugeot or something, and a Turbo out of a different model.
@@PiggyPower theoretically i would have to get a complete Check of the car(if the Brakes, Suspension, Steering and so on are good enough for it), a Dyno test, and an emissions test if i go 10% over the factory output.
First step, give it a proper tune!! They run about 1-1.1bar of boost from the factory!!! Wind that sucker up!!
Get some air into that top mounted intercooler.
Can you fit a later 1.9 TD engine from another PSA engine? Give you a better lump to work with.
@@PiggyPower i have the very late 1994 BX, it already is the 19 D Turbo not the 17, so it already has the 1.9, i haven't really touched the Turbo, because i have heard that the Stock Intercoolers were only good for about 1.3 after getting to inefficient, also wasn't all that sure if my Boostgauge is showing right, showed 0.9 with the Stock tune. That's why i didn't want to push it to much.
Friend wats the boost your running now? I just bought a ZX td and its a really nice car but i wanna make a stage 1 to
Watch the whole video... I do cover it
did you add the turbo or does it come with the 205 diesel?
The 205 came with a 1.8(1.7)TD xud but this one has had the later, larger and stronger 1.9td xud fitted
@@PiggyPower great, i'm from argentina and the most common version is the 205 gld, do you think I could add a turbo to it?
You can add a turbo to any engine ...but I wouldn't to the n/a 1.8d.
I've got the HDI engine. Are there "easy" tune to that? Im getting kinda bored not having some more power in my little 306. So far i've just got a cold air intake, which i heard was a useless mod. Oh well, at least it sounds good.
Nice video :)
Yeah .. sack off that intake... It will be working as a warm air intake and killing power... Unless it's fully enclosed... At which point, keep the standard system which can support 180bhp.
A simple stg1 remap can be done without any modifications...
Where in the country are you? I can do the maps or can reccomdend the nearest person I trust for you 👍😃🐷💪
@@PiggyPower Well i live in Denmark, so i guess thats a problem
Ahhh. Get yourself mpps!
@@PiggyPower Do you know one thats worth getting, and what site to buy it from. I was maybe buying it off of Wish, but i would like to get it this year.
eBay. They are all copies unless you pay £1000! So accept the risks of a non genuine version.
only does smoke....doing a lot of smoke is burned fuel that is bad for the injections....i need to do 50/50 boost of turbo and fuel....
Nothing bad for the injectors. 50/50 boost/fuel I'm not sure what you mean by that? A little smoke at wide open throttle will always occur before optimum performance for the engine...and actually keep it cooler if tuned right 👍🐷💪
Really helpful guide, I have a 1994 306 1.9xrdt does this model come with a Bosch pump and a Garrett turbo? 🤞
Life the bonnet and find out👍😁🐷💪
I have a 306 1.9d NoTurbo is there any way to tune it up just a little bit??
Yes. Will it make a difference...not really .. need more air to burn more fuel... No turbo to add more air!!
Thanks man keep up the good work
Is it possible to get a popcorn limiter on these engines, because I had a straight d xsara that had it and wasn't mapped in it, any ways on how to do this?
You can't popcorn limit a mechanical pump. Doing so on an HDi is possible with a map but pretty brutal to the valve train and usually breaks stuff
Also...you won't have had a popcorn limiter on a straight (non turbo diesel) 1.9 xud or dw8
@@PiggyPower it had something when you hit 4 and half thousand revs it would smoke and popcorn but I did my own egr delete
Sounds broken.
@@PiggyPower must have because i have the videos of it still
Had the tune done. I believe it has 90 hp. The short 5th gear is the only downside though , and no boost compensator. The SD is the D with a Turbo. But it pulls nicely.
Any ideas on the 5th gear? I have been looking for the ratios but cannot find anything about it
Hi there.
Even at 75 hp it has plenty of torque for a taller gear but i believe they didn't bother with it back then. I will look into it. The issue is the sphere is on the box and i don't want to mess with the hydropneumatic system.
A 5th gear swap isn't that hard wither i have read but finding the correct ratio is a pain. I will look i to it, thanks m8
@Alex Janssens sorry to jump on so late but how did you go about tuning? Went tk do mine, na xud, bosch pump, but can't even locate a fuel screw?
@@r333ceh mine has a low pressure turbo, so opened it completely, probably no more than 0.5 bars i believe, and opened the fuel screw on the Lucas pump, but as he said, they are rubbish, it started to squeal, probably because of the bio diesel in the fuel nowadays.
gonna get a bosh pump soon with turbo membrane which will be more efficient. as for the fuel screw idk where it is on the bosch, i think it is on the outside.. but all it will do on a naturally aspirated engine is more smoke, maybe a little more power but not much.
@@r333ceh those NA engines are slow but really good on mileage. i think you can do over 1100kms on a full tank with those
Hi, any way at all I could get a chat with you by message? I have a recently converted 205 1.9 TD here with an issue...

ARPs, forged rods and a VNT, 10mm head on the bosch. Done.
and how to boost an XUD9 engine?
It's already boosted. (got a turbo)
Is it not illegal to turn that screw out to alllow more fuel I’m pretty sure it’s illegal it’s the governor ?
if you could quote the law that this breaks I would be interested to read it. Perhaps site the country you live in also
@@PiggyPower I’m in the uk no just asking because you are fuelling the car more I’m pretty sure the clip you took off is on the governor if you are caught with it removed you can be fined I’m not sure maybe you would know

fined? For doing what?? Its perfectly legal to modify your vehicle in the UK.
@@PiggyPower apparently, you cannot change the governor and the settings
Hiya, really like the vid! I have a peugeot 205 with a 1.8 Diesel engine(xud7 i believe?), is it possible to turbo it?
If so is it just the turbo+manifold I need? Any advice much appreciated :)
You will find you'd need a lot more things and then you'd still have the wrong compression and a weaker engine not designed for boost. Likely easier to buy a xud9t lump and drop it in complete 💪
YES
Yes indeedy! Say yes to subscribing and hitting that bell thingy that everyone barks on about and I dunno what it does 🙈👍🐷💪

Thanks! What engine do you have?
@@PiggyPower I think it’s the euro 4 - RHR or RHK type, 120 hdi. The mechanical pump on that DTurbo looks massive compared to the high pressure pump on my Scudo.
@@noskills9577 remap time! Simple remap give you many bhps! I can provide this service. Your pump is just a pump though... It doesn't draw its own fuel, doesn't regulator the pressure, doesn't regulate fuel duration, doesn't take throttle input and boost input, needs loads of sensors and an ECU to run it... So when you consider size differences... You may want to take all that into consideration!
