The writers/creators of The Simpsons are legit math nerds. Like a good chunk of the original writers have math degrees and are very intelligent people. Those small details did not make it in there merely by coincidence, they purposefully knew what they were doing.
Also, as Futurama was created by the guy who created The Simpsons (Matt Groening), it's no surprise that Futurama had all those subtle little details as well.

As a middle school trombonist, I can say that for the first week of band, the Simpson's representation of the trombone was very accurate.
The fact they didn't get "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by The Charlie Daniels Band reference but they got the dance of the goblin reference.... ahahahah Just shows they really did spend all their time practicing! True heroes

Erin Cobb your “pop-culture osmosis” is correct. When done correctly, he never would be shot by the bow tho. First step is to open the chamber and the soldier holds the weapon up (without flagging anyone)so both the inspecting Sgt. and soldier can see if the chamber is empty. Lol and never look straight down the barrel.

Fun fact: Double basses used to be played with only 3 strings until sometime in the 19th century. In fact, double basses with 3 strings had a stronger and clearer sound. So, the Pink Panther isn't too wrong :)

Pink Panther's orchestra sounds like that because it was recorded by the show's light orchestra (the one that records ALL the music for the show), so they did what they could with what they had.

Them making a living out of it doesn't mean they're "rich". A large part of the money they earn from their TH-cam channel is reinvested in things like buying new equipment, preparing their world tour, etc...

People forget that The Simpsons and Futurama were not made for kids. They're aimed at adults. Kids started watching it because parents assumed, since it's animated, it's safe for kids to watch it.
I'm so glad you saw the Pink Panther! That was my first exposure to classical music! Pink Panther, Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, they really helped shape my appreciation for it!
