    Peggy here ... things are quieting down so I now have time to watch your videos. Of all the days for me to catch one, was today! Again, your enthusiasm for my garden almost brought me to tears. I am in awe of what you do and how you create such beauty with all of your gardens. Having you visit my garden and film, was the hi-light of my summer! Your video has over 500k views now and over 3400 comments - and the comments are incredible -- again bringing me to tears with how kind and complimentary your viewers are. My kids (31 and 32) said, "Mom, it is unheard of to get that many comments on youtube with zero negative remarks." Indeed the Garden Answer community people are lovely and kind and they absolutely touched my heart (thank you). Two comments - I don't do dresses either. Ugg. Just not me, so I get it. Second comment - someone asked if you get recognized, you said not really. One week after you posted your video of my garden Rick and I flew to NY, landing in Laguardia. We went to Hertz, had to wait in line for about an hour (no cars, grrr) and someone came up to me, while I was waiting in this line, and said, "Are you Peggy from Laura's Garden Answer video." I just about fell over, but proudly said, why yes. AND then she wanted a picture with me. OMG, what an experience. You have a following and people adore you! I will say, you are as sweet and kind and genuine in person as you appear in your videos.

    Aaron......"plant it high it won't die. Plant it low it wont grow.".....came from Roger, the landscaper on This Old House. He just passed away and one of the comments on their TH-cam channel quoted him saying that from years ago. I learned alot from watching him over the years and now you two have taken the baton.....thanks for being such great teachers and inspiring many to garden.

      @yorkie75 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It depends where in the world you are. In the U.K. sod is a derogatory term ; turf is grass with a layer of soil. Artificial grass is just that

    • @tinacolbourneart1091
      @tinacolbourneart1091 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Sod is cut rolled up pieces of grass, it's turf after it's laid I think. But turf isn't really a term we use much here in Canada. Turf sounds more like an American or European word. We just call it sod and grass or lawn. When someone says turf I first think of artificial grass like "astro turf"

    If you are referring to the wide walkway you regret as being the on by the large fountain, I think down the way you will be very happy with the width. Right now, it sticks out like a sore thumb only since there are no plantings around it. I think with its size and slight curve, it will become a very elegant walk. I can see a beautiful hedge of hydrangeas, at least part of the way, lining it. The size of the walkway also fits the size of the fountain.

    When I was in elementary we were required to wear dress. If you wanted to wear jeans you bought then in the boys section. I even had to competed in the Presidential Physical Award in a dress and won. I wanted to wear pants so bad!. Now I wear a dress all summer long, I even garden and mow the lawn in a dress. How things change. I guess you were born at the right time to have an unwillingness to wear a dress rule. And yes you should always feel comfortable in what you wear. Gives you confidence!!!! You go girl.

    The emerald ash borer was just announced this month to have migrated west from Minnesota into the Dakotas. Most cities between in the plains states west through the Rockies have ash trees as street trees numbering in the thousands. With that concentration of a single genus the odds of this pathogen spreading is fairly high. We will see in the next few years whether the arid areas in the Dakotas will prevent or slow their westward expansion. Because the trades' distribution of these trees, use of ash in commercial applications like shelterbelts, movement of firewood and shredded mulch county to county and via along roads and highways; this threatens natural stands of ash along rivers and the montane timber line. The native range extends through Montana down thru Texas and up thru Alberta. All fifty states utilize cultivated ash trees. Many times extirpation events yield up to 100% dieback.

    FYI-Yes, sod is also known as turf. Sod is the upper layer of turf that's harvested and transplanted to create a green lawn. Turf is a soil medium that supports turfgrasses, and sod is a quick way to fix a lawn that's healthier and greener than grass seed.
    Sod is grown on farms where farmers plant, water, fertilize, and maintain grass seeds until they're mature enough to sell. This process can take up to two years, and once the sod is ready, tractors cut the grass, soil, and roots into specific dimensions. The sod is then stacked or rolled into the final product. To install sod, you can cut portions of it into plugs, blocks, strips, or squares and transplant them to the desired area

    Totally agree about dresses. I'm 69 and worked for 40 years in an office setting. About half of that time dresses were expected on the women (and men wore dress shirts and ties). What I hate about dresses are the shoes that go with them. So uncomfortable! Also in the "old days" pantyhose. I got to the point where I wore comfy shoes with my dresses as I just couldn't take those shoes any longer and just kept pumps in my desk just in case. I've worn dresses twice since retiring, to weddings of my sons. Another son is getting married next year so I'll probably have to wear a dress again, or maybe not??

    * One female BW spider can lay between 4 & 9 egg sacs in a summer. Each sac contains between 100 & 400 spiderlings.
    * You might want to rethink leaving them alone. 😬🕷

    I vote yes for Aaron to video grass planting and all the prep they are doing back in the red barn area. I love the videos you do where you incorporate other things like the shower favors, it brings a balance to them and shows what fun things we can all find when we have the same opportunity. Your positive attitude is such a blessing, and I look forward each day to your post. Thank you for doing these and Have a blessed day everyone.

    The first step in fighting spider mites is WATER! The reason you have them so bad is you use drip irrigation and it doesn't rain much there! If you went out and sprayed your plants with water, that is the first step in fighting against them! They hate the wet conditions. They like dry hot conditions, as you know... If you find an infestation, spraying them down with water is the first thing you should do.

    • @Boxergma

      They don't overhead water because of the white spots their hard water leaves on the plants

    • @truthtalker4038
      @truthtalker4038 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@Boxergma I know that! I'm not saying to do it all the time.. but when you know which plants are the worse or you notice activity, you can spray them down.. mites leave white spots too and kill your plants.. at least the water only leaves white spots.. it doesnt kill your plants..

I feel totally fake wearing dresses. It’s just not me! There are plenty of ways to be dressier without dresses! Thanks for making me feel better about this! I also love gardening and it is not a dressy thing! My hands are generally not the best looking, but oh well!

    Hey Aaron, just so you know. Women hit their 50's and most of us just don't care either. LOL. I do what makes me comfortable also. Slacks to a formal or not so formal event is fine. I HATE wearing shoes, always have. I wear some type of sandal (they look good, not some scruffy things) all year round here in Central IL unless we have snow on the ground. I garden in my sandals as well. Hubby tells me I need "sensible shoes" but they make me feel very uncomfortable. No apologies needed Laura. :)

Oh, and yes even in the southeast large maple wounds are very hard to heal on their own and even if we use the best sealer, it seems that it draws ants, fungus and rot usually happens behind the sealer. Great editing! Thank you all! 🤗🤗🤗 AND...
    There are approximately 12 types of Turfgrasses vs. Ornamental grasses, those that are low growing, can take frequent cutting and tolerate foot and light vehicle traffic. Broken down into C3 cool season and C4 warm season types and are some of the most unique plants in the world. When grown and sold with roots and soil attached, wait for it, yes it's Sod, from a Sod farm.

Have they not given you a Bobcat hat ? 🧐🤔We are Dairy Farmers & use John Deere equipment, but in our area, free JD hats are rare. So if you don’t have a Bobcat hat,-Bobcat- please , if possible, send Aaron & Benjamin a hat, he praises & promotes your product every week ! Something for Laura & Samantha would be nice too !🤭🤞😉😂👍🤞- 🙋‍♀️Yes, I’m raising my hand to film the new areas progress !

    I was given the same warning about my maple when I had an arborist out to look at a massive branch cantilevered out over my garage. He said it would eventually kill the tree to take it off, but it’s more likely to kill my garage faster. Being a silver maple and how much they love to shed bits of themselves, I opted to take it off. (East coast also, NJ)

    Just to say, I tried one of those box subscriptions for 1 month where you describe your style and what you want and got amazing pieces! I was very specific about my needs as, at the time, I had some severe disabilities. And when the pieces came in it was like opening a big present to myself with all my favorite things. I STILL have all the pieces, got them several years ago, pre covid, and they get so much use so I highly encourage anyone who has a hard time finding what they like to do it. Stitch fix is a good one. If you don't like them you just send them back. It's the lowest pressure shopping ever.

    Ben - go to Goodwill or some such and get him a bunch of flatware that are HIS to do whatever with. Give him a box to keep them in and give the box a home. Less risk to your nice flatware, and he has full agency in how he plays with 'his' set!
    I'm sure it's not an accident that you are so financially aligned with each other. Makes your married life a LOT easier when you compliment that way.
    Is it ANY dress you don't want to wear, or shorter dresses? I wear compression socks, which while cute online in hiking pictures (I'm older and fatter) I wore under long dresses at the last wedding I went to. I looked nice, and stayed comfy!
    Sod guy - wowzers, cranky much?!

    Just a word of information for ya’ll regarding your oak trees (maybe others but I only know oaks), you shouldn’t trim them unless it’s an emergency between the months of February (maybe March for ya’ll) and November. They are susceptible to Oak Wilt which is devastating and will spread to your others oaks if one tree gets infected. Pruning them when they are actively growing is very dangerous. We always try to prune when the deciduous trees have lost their leaves and the live oaks we just have to prune in the dead of winter to make sure that saps are dormant. Also, always always cover open wounds on your oaks for the same reason.

    Dress Shopping (a couple of ideas) : I can not stand dresses but found out that if I wear some sort of comfortable shorts (think shapers that are large enough to be comfortable) under the dress I feel more like myself. I also go for a longer style because I have cerebral palsy and hate showing my legs. Which is the complete opposite of what hubby likes. He wants me in dresses that show my legs because he like my legs. 🙂 Thank goodness stockings or pantyhose are no longer required for dresses! Also Stitch Fix also found a couple nice dress options for me to have on stand by for when a dress is needed for an occasion. You are not alone. 🙂
