      Only mop that works well imo. Is the simple mop - preferably with thick microfibre strands, and a mop bucket with the conical shape that you twist and lean your weight on. The rotating mop is so hard to get dry/ merely damp so it soaks the floor then cant suck it up again! Definitely not for laminate.

    I am loving watching you declutter/organize/clean your parent’s house! I think it’s hard to get a grasp on minimalism while looking at someone’s house that is already minimal. Great idea to start in a home “filled” with love, and needing TLC. I’d love for this to be a series! I have been a minimalist for a few years now, but definitely love watching the room transformations, and getting ideas on how to help my parents and friends start their journey. Plus maybe even some idea for my own home.

    Maybe someone mentioned this for the fridge, but if not....this is a gamechanger. I found some plastic bins the width of a condiment jar and as deep as my fridge. And one twice as wide. I have three on my top shelf and I organize my condiments in them. One is for mustards. mayo and relishes (we have like 6 kinds of mustard we use for different things). An Asian themed one: fish sauce, tamari, miso, ssamjang, gojuchang, chili crisp, yuzu, ponzu, sesame oil...we eat alot of Asian food). And a salsa, hot sauce one. It is so easy now to just pull out the right bin and pull what you need from it. No more rearranging several jars to get to the jar at the back.

    • @HannahRainbow88

      I use the lift-our door pockets for every day condiments! You can take them right to the counter/table! 😅 (I think that was another great tip from Cas/Clutterbug) ... But I do have skinny drawer organiser type containers in my fridge for spreads (jam/"jelly" etc), pickles (vegetables and chutney/relish), and nuts&seeds (those packets were a nightmare falling over before!)

    • @kathleengarness1660
      @kathleengarness1660 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Yes, I use bins as mini-drawers for each category of food - so easy to take out each one when it's time to wipe down the shelves! I do this in the freezer too and also for corner cabinets. Another thing I do for deep corner cabinets is store my Christmas dishes and other lesser-used stuff on cookie sheets, pull them out when it's time to use them, and stack them back on the tray when it's time to put everything back..

    For that ring on the glasstop stove, try really saturating a rag in vinegar and placing the rag over the affected area overnight. In the morning, mix in a little baking soda and scrub and use your razor blade tool. It still takes elbow grease, but the long soak with vinegar seems to loosen the bond of the mineralized ring with the stovetop.

    For cleaning oven racks, lay them on a black garbage bag outside, spray thoroughly with oven cleaner (yellow cap-contains lye) generic brand will do. Turn the bag inside out so your rack is inside the bag completely and close it up (tuck the opening under). Let sit in the sun for 24 hours then rinse off. The oven cleaner does not harm the bag at all. You can use a green scrubber or steel wool to clean it off (outside with a hose). Works so good! Also this works when you need to strip gunk off a cast iron skillet.

I lineup three across. I have a very big fridge. They’re not big trays, but they’ll fit about six pickle size jars on them maybe five depending And when my tray is too full and I can’t fit something on it that means it’s time to get rid of something. Also something spells it only spills in the tray so I just clean out a tray at a time as it needs it my fridge has stayed clean ever since I started doing this with little effortback to the video.

    I’m sure someone else has mentioned this, but my big game changer for the oven was buying oven liners, think black non stick flexible sheets that live at the very bottom of the oven that catch any fallen debris, you can then pull them out and wipe them and never get baked on anything. Regarding the fridge, I also have to store jars in the main area, not just the door. For the condiments, I use sturdy open plastic bins that are easy to pull out. It's also really handy when we have guests to be able to just pull out the bin and move it to the table or outside. Same for salad dressings. I use bins for other "collections" of smaller items, too, like "soft dairy" like sour cream, cottage cheese, yogurt... Another with sandwich stuff of packages of lunchmeat and cheese. I use a shelf liner in my refrigerator, so I can clean the liners rather than the shelves. Also, I have some long containers that I use on a couple of shlves. I stack my jars in the container. I can easily partially pull out the container to get to the jar that I need. Thank you for your cleaning channel! I clean while I'm watching you clean.

    My tried and true for more years than I want to admit is putting oven racks in plastic trash bag, pour ammonia into the bag, tie it up and let it sit for a couple hours. Open it carefully so the fumes don’t get you, glove up before pulling the racks out and spray off with plain water. There may be a few spots that need to be wiped off but nothing that requires elbow grease. Not fancy but certainly easy as long as you have a few hours to let the ammonia work. BTW, I do this outside so I don’t have to deal with the fumes in the house. Lynn

      this is what I have always done too. a squirt of dish soap and Ammonia is cheap and effective. I put the bag with the racks and ammonia in me side yard for a day and then rinse with the garden hose. The ammonia doesnt eat through the bag

    I clean my oven racks by putting ammonia in a black heavy duty trash bag. Put in the racks, tie the bags closed, and set them out in the sun on the patio for the day. Even thick baked on crud crumbles right off.

      Yes, this is what I was going to suggest. Ammonia vapor is powerful though so be sure to stand back when pouring it and when opening the bag the next day.

    Wow, the tray in a bag approach actually sounds great! ✨
    Makes a lot of sense. I'll try that.
