I stopped eating bread for a year.... I felt fantastic.... starting again for two months straight... I feel tired, fall asleep in the afternoon, feel bloated, fat around the waist, you name it. I am off again tomorrow. Dr. Berg is absolutely right.

I have started 16/8 intermittent fasting 4 days ago and it's going easier than I thought. I go with KETO and dropped grains and sugar as well. I can not tell you how much better I feel already. I am sleeping better, I don't get tired, and I workout daily for 45 minutes. Looking forward to sharing more later.
Help me please cuz im a bit lost in this topic mostly due to translation problems and hard to keep up with everything heard, so all symptoms listed above(in video) comes from gluten of any type or strickly whats in wheat so in breads? Hows pastas like durum? Cuz he said avoid bread cuz gluten but also said avoid grains(as a week challenge) but theres naturally gluten free ones like buckwheat why avoid that ? Im lost someone brighten me up please
This wasn't clear for me in this video too. But I only stay away from gluten but I eat rice for example. Most of the time I eat noodles and pasta made from lentils, carrots and rice.
I am French. Bread was always a drug for me. This video described 100% what my problem was. I stopped eating Gluten in November 2020. My life changed, more energy, no longer long time in the toilets, no pain in the belly. I miss bread. I don't miss suffering. Thanks Dr Berg.
Had been doing keto for 2 years. Came round from eye surgery and was offered a couple of slices of toast. That was the beginning of a 6 week carb binge! The cravings were totally out of control, it's as if I was on drugs. I also had a huge inflammatory response. I have rheumatoid arthritis and had a massive flare up in my joints and tendons. Finally got back on track with keto and have also gone gluten free.
Wheat in this country is dessicated/ it is soaked in Monsanto's Roundup for 2 weeks before har vest to dry it out! When I was in Italy I ate all the bread i wanted and never a problem. thinkning I was somehow cured I ate bread when I came back to America and bam I was struck down again. I looked into it to find out what was going on and found out the horrific truth that our grains in this country are soaked in Roundup prior to harvest to dry them out and to purposefully harm us. You are having a reaction to Roundup.
I started having arthritis and tendonitis in my hip. Cut way down on gluten and carbs and its already feeling better. Thanks for your comment as I wasn't sure it would work for tendonitis.
@@paganizondasroadster1660 Eating the toast gave them permission psychologically to start eating a bunch of bread and carby stuff. Reading comprehension. "That was the beginning of a 6 week carb binge!"
Sorry that now is no way for you to return to a free eating life...once you do a long term diet your entire sistem switches on it and gets its benefits out of it but this comes with other costs as you saw...
I’m going on my second week without eating bread or gluten. I feel amazing! I look noticeably less bloated, my skin is so clear and glowing, my face is depuffed, and I feel so amazing! I am going to try to eliminate gluten or bread completely! For reference I am 27 years old. Thank you Dr. Berg!
My goodness...i can't describe how happy I am from following your advice. I've been having diarrhea issues and frequent bowel movements even after starting a healthy diet but when I quit eating anything with gluten, my problems went away instantly! For now I only eat gluten free crispbread with plenty of vegetables. Thank you so much. You have saved me multiple times!
I had to stop eating bread 10-12 years ago. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease and my doctor suggested I stop eating gluten. I was having a lot of intestinal problems, so I listened to him. My problems went away! The couple of times I cheated I paid for it. I moved to Poland 9 years ago. They have beautiful baked goods and tasty beer. I have learned not to cheat 2-3 days in a row. I can periodically drink a beer and once every couple of years I will eat a pączki, a filled Polish donut. But otherwise I behave. The pain, cramping and diarrhea are not worth it.
It’s funny you should mention the polish baked goods. My son who is on the Keto diet and is pretty strict with it. Started dating a Polish girl. He started coming home with these donuts but all i could see he took one big bite out if it but didn’t finish. He lifts weights, where she is overweight. He introduced her to Keto and she did lose some pounds but she lives with her Polish parents so the temptations are there constantly. I am from Czech but stopped cooking all these ethnic specialties as i know they are not healthy. I eat more Keto type food. Totally eliminated bread and flour stuff while ago. It’s easier if the family is on the same page with their diet.
Thanks Dr Berg. I’m a living walking talking example of everything you spoke of here. I have numerous issues from consumption of white bread as a child going to school through to an adult finding out I’m celiac, with hasimotos, and autoimmune illnesses. I stopped eating bread years ago it make a huge difference. Appreciate your videos so much.
I've had gluten related neurological disease for 12 years and didn't know it! Thankfully I found out and cut out all gluten. Absolute life changer! Peripheral neuropathy, eczema, joint pain, memory issues, difficulty speaking properly, and all kinds of other stuff... all gone!
Dr. Eric, there's something about you that makes us stick to the entire video. Its so hypnotic, your way of explaining stuff feels like we're actually learning the medical field as a fresh student.
A dependancy to one of the ingredients is enough to keep someone eating ANYTHING. People would eat phlegm, if it contained something they had a food intolerance based addiction to.
@@RMILLSMMA Are you a doctor? What he's said so far is true. I even made entire lists of it and verified by different sites. I guess you're the one who didn't researched.
I have been cutting out bread and sugar for the past six months. It is amazing how much better I feel. I am 60 years old and am in the best shape I have been in for the last 20 years. It’s so worth it. Thank you for all the encouraging videos. I honestly don’t think I could do it without you.
It’s so funny how bread or flour in general is so demonized here in the US. But in European countries they eat pastries and bread often and the obesity rate is way lower than America. He should be talking about the bad quality of flour being sold here in the US. It’s filled with chemicals which is harmful to us. I find that when I eat flour from France or Italy, I do not get bloated and I feel fine.
In America most bread has sugar in it which is so shocking to me. The Subway sandwich chain had to pay a different tax in Europe as their bread had so much sugar in it the tax authorities declared that it’s not bread, but cake!!
I have chronic Ulcerative Colitis. I stopped eating bread, whole grains, etc, last November and not only did my abdominal distension decrease, but I had fewer UC flare-ups and lost 40 pounds. It also decreased my desire for sugar. It was difficult at first to stop the bread, as I was so conditioned over the years to eat a sandwich because bread was filling and a comfort food. Not any more. Feel so much better, fewer headaches and I have more energy. When I stopped bread, I started exercising more because the bloating was gone. Love the vids. Thanks Dr. Berg.
If you want to get rid of your colitis take a glass of salt water last thing at night and first thing in the morning for 7 days. Then take a large desert spoon of codliveroil on empty stomach last thing at night and first thing in the morning for 7 days. Of course cut out wheat and grains and use a linseed poultice across your stomach for 5 to 7 days.

@@kathy2888 My doctor noticed a vitamin D deficiency a few years back in a routine blood test and put me on the super Vitamin D for like 2 months. Mine dried up almost instantly from just that. SO she told me to go on a double dose every morning and it kept it off. This was before I went keto so I was still eating bread on occasion. it was low carb, but still. Of course, a bad diet is the worst thing for your skin, this included.
Wow. My bad eczema that forms especially around/under my eyebrows went away when I started keto. Showed back up and I wondered what caused it. I had introduced some low carb bread (Sola) and have not had any in a while and my face cleared back up. Had to have been the bread! Never considered the gluten would be the ultimate culprit.
This is very accurate, many people can heal their ailments by not consuming grains. Grains/beer/pasta ect started becoming an issue with me in the middle 1990's. It slowly began to cause negative symptoms whenever I consumed grains. I was healthy, excersiced, ran 3 miles every morning until joint pain, irritated flaky skin, dandruff, bloated, upset stomach, severe acid reflux to the point where I developed Barretts Esophogus, was on Nexium over 10 years, developed high blood pressure, sleeplessness, headaches, irritability, depression. I was literally falling apart, lol. I stopped all grains/sugars. Within the first month 75% of ailments went away, the best part was the absence of joint pain, then my skin cleared up, then the brain fog went away, I had to slowly stop the Nexium, eventually all that healed over the first year. I was poisoning myself with food the, "pros" tell me to consume for health. I had to pretty much stop eating everything except fatty meats, liver, fish. Feel on top of the world now, no looking back, I don't need a study to prove my point, I healed myself with no help from the professionals. Many like me are finding this out.
@@DrTariqRamadan I consume the cheap hamburger, 70/30% , I eat beef roasts, steaks and fresh beef liver, heart, tounge. I eat sardines, mackerel, salmon from cans. All seafood/shellfish, chicken thighs, legs and liver. Hotdogs, vienna sausages, lunch meats, bacon, eggs. Use lard, bacon grease or olive oil for cooking. I do at times eat some cabbage, cauiliflower, cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, heavy cream, cream cheese, but must limit these things because I can feel negative side effects. I also implemented fasting, I fast 22 hours a day, usually eat 1 very large meal in the evening. Sometimes I fast longer periods to stimulate autophogy for healing.
It’s because their is pesticides in our grains called glyphosate. And it was bred to have higher gluten. You won’t have as bad side effects eating bread in Europe. Especially hand made pasta in Italy.
In this video he taught us the word ''healthwashing''. I also naively fell dupe for the hyped ''healthy'' dairy, legumes, pulses, tofu, high fructose fruit, grains, smoothies, & protein powders. I have been a chubby chump and a dupe for 65 years.
@@debbiec6216 Hi, thank you, I listed the foods I consume, the main thing I learned was that the gut biome must adjust to the change in diet. So consuming all the extra fat and protein before the good bacteria is established is sometimes discomforting, the acid in your stomach is very important to keep, it takes time to get off of the Nexiums and things. If you have these issues you listed, than u need to completely stop consuming any carbohydrates. A carb is sugar anyway you want to look at it, so any sugar you consume is like poring battery acid in your body, it demolishes our circulatory system, it is the driver for acid reflux and your immune system is always working doubletime to combat the effects of carbs. So reducing inflamation and allowing your body to heal is the goal, so learning to implement fasting into your life and eating only acceptable foods will rid yourself of chronic inflamation. It took over 6 months of eating only meat and fasting 22 hours a day before I was able to ween myself off of the Nexium. The digestive system heals slowly, however it is vital for our health because most of our immune system is in the gut. Good luck, I learned on my own what I could eat and what I couldnt, I learned how to heal myself by watching these types of videos and understanding why everything that I was ever taught about nutrition and my health were simply lies. Mentally this diet or change of life was challenging, not because of hunger, because I am never hungry on this diet, it is a social henderance at first if you are a lover of food. The cookouts, bday parties, holidays and passed down favorite recipes of loved ones are no longer the topic of excitement or conversation. I look at food now as a tool to my health and well being. Good luck, never stop researching in the low carb world. Explore food, cholesterol, insulin, anti-nutrients from plants, fasting.
Agree with you 💯. An older colleague told me try not to eat bread 🍞 , 6 years ago. I did not eat bread for a week and never been eating bread since then. I occasionally eat sourdough bread though. Thanks for sharing. You rock 🎸

In October 2018 I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and started taking a water pill. All my blood test results were in the normal range. I was scared to take the water pill for too long so I wanted to figure out how to stop taking it. A few months later I heard about Keto from a friend of mine. The first week of May 2019 we decided to do Keto after watching videos of Dr. Berg and another doctor regularly. We returned everything we could to the grocery store. We cut out everything like grains, pastas and things that could turn into sugar. We adjusted our food as suggested by both doctors including eating more fatty meats and seafood. Adding more cheese (no carbs) wasn't a problem because my husband is French. Within 3 weeks I lost 15 pounds (almost 7 kg). I had run out of the water pill and was due to see my doctor the first week of June. My blood pressure was normal without the water pill. When I saw the doctor I told him that I hadn't taken the water pill for a week. He said that if my pressure was still normal he would take me off the medication. I was taken off the water pill a week later. My blood pressure is still normal. I had blood work done for a physical almost three months ago. Test results were normal. I've lost a total of 50-55 pounds (23-25 kg).
My family and I learned nearly all of our health problems were gluten related last year. My mother and I have both lost around 50 lbs going gluten free ( from getting rid of all the inflation). I feel like I'm 20 again. I learned about Dr. Berg about 9 months ago, and have been educateing myself with his videos ever since. Dr Berg hits the nail on the head in this video with every thing we've learned in the last year concerning gluten. Great video. Thanks for your knowledge
I eat tons of bread and never gain weight. All our bread is homemade I wonder if that has something to do with. Everyone in ancient times ate breads they are lucky they weren’t all sick and fat.
@@cece3194 I felt so sick and I seen how healthy my mom got once she figured it out that I was just super motivated. Then the icing on the cake was like 4 or 5 weeks after going I ordered a califlower crust pizza from Domino's and got cross contaminated. I felt so horrible I knew I didn't ever want to go back. It does suck the first moth or so having to read every label of every product you buy. And initially our groshry budget did go up a bit because of all the products we had to replace (like amino for soy sauce), but after a month or so everything has gone fairly well.
The past 5 years I have been gluten free, when I tell people my story including doctors no one believed me! So thank God for you dr berg. After I stopped all for a of gluten I got of antidepressants and anxiety medication, PTSD did not even exist anymore, the intrusive thoughts even stopped. I was medicated for 10 years! I started doing anything and everything to stop how sever I had gotten, medication wasn’t even working. I was having anxiety attacks that would last months day and night with no stop, I was in ER all the time. I then decided to join a gym, stop consuming bread then I started to feel really good. I went on stop all forms of pasta and rice and then stopped my medication cold turkey! It was the best thing I have ever done! My dr was angry I stopped my meds... angry and I wasn’t having any issues anymore, work that out. Anyways I hope my story in short form helps someone else who is reading. My youngest son who has Autism was allergic to Gluten as a child. Bloating and stomach issues. He tested negative for Gluten at 6 years old but we kept him on the diet. After 13 years of a Gluten free diet I mainstreamed him and he grew like a weed. Very athletic, and strong!
It's not the bread it's the chemicals that are being sprayed on the grains and the modifications they do to them. A friend of mine is badly gluten intolerant. Can't have any of it at home. She went over to Italy and was able to eat all the bread and pasta over there without any issue at all. Came back to Australia, and again couldn't have any of the gluten products.
I’m pretty sure that’s Dr. Bergs point. The bread becomes corrupted or tainted from its natural form. Maybe rewatch the video all the way through again.
It is also the genetic modification. And maybe the addiction to the exorphins is part of it, even in Europe! But isn't that amazing about being able to eat Italian wheat.
I'm a Korean living in S.Korea. Not so many Koreans are regarded to have gluten intolerance compared to Western people, but I have gluten intolerance. I slowly quit all the ramen, noodle and bread. Surprisingly, my potbelly disappeared in a few weeks. One day, I was very hungry. I thought one meal of exception could be okay and ate some pieces of pizza like a pig. I immediately started vomiting up and experienced symptoms like food poisoning. So I started studying about gluten of flour, found out that there are three kinds of flour -bread flour(hard flour), plain flour, cake flour(soft flour). Bread flour(hard flour) has the highest gluten to enhance viscosity.
Thank you for sharing! As Latino, classic bread is not my problem instead I’m going to try to stop eating noodles, tortillas and other gluten based food.
I grew up eating bread, but for going keto I gave up flour for many months. Then I had some for Thanksgiving meal last year (bread, stuffing, pie)- I had a similar effect (nausea, vomiting)
Dr. Berg, you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! My husband and I have been grain free since around January. (on keto) and we feel much better. And we also lost weight. You are the best ❤, thank you.
Yeah, giving up bread was one of the hardest things about starting keto, but this week was my fourth anniversary of low carbs which means no bread, pasta, cereal, oatmeal, cakes, cookies, pancakes, etc., etc.! Now, it all seems quite worth it - I've never felt better! I'm 72.
I did it for a long time. Lost weight down to a size 2 and I was miserable without the foods I grew up eating. Being that thin also made me look a lot older. I know I am the gluten sensitive person and do have the symptoms but I struggle to do the keto plan as all the foods I grew up eating are off the list of acceptable foods. What fun is life if you do not enjoy it? I basically ate meat and organic vegetables. Just got so bored. 🫤

But if I ever wanted a snack and craved any kind of carbs or sugar I would eat one of those nicks ice cream bars and I would only eat a quarter or a half because they are big or they have this keto cookie dough that you can eat raw or bake as cookies so I would bake them as cookies and anytime I started to have a craving that would immediately get rid of it
For my mother generation having the meat was a Sunday treat. They lived mostly on what the farm provided, the bread, milk, eggs, potatoes, etc. My mother lived happily until 92 as did the majority of our family.

Indeed, my grandma has 90 this year and all her life eated bread, cookies made by her, meat and even fried fats but also worked hard on their fields and ranch...nowadays peoples are too laizy and unmotivated to do hard work, this is the main problem, and to avoid this work they fall into follow a bunch of theorys that for short and medium term gives them some benefits...
Very interesting! My daughter became gluten sensitive and so now only eats sourdough that she makes herself. Recently the got a pizza in a place that uses Flour imported from Italy. She had NO problem with it!
Maybe it is not a question about gluten but something else because italian pizza also has a lot of gluten. I guess flour contains a lot of pesti/herbi/fungocides and maybe this could explain the difference
a friend told me a similar story recently and recommended French and Italian flour and suggested it might be the pesticides we use in the US that are banned in Europe
Lately, I've been substituting riced broccoli and cauliflower for rice, especially brown rice. Now that I've got a hand crank for turning veggies into noodles, I've been enjoying them that way in the place of regular noodles. I barely eat bread anymore, even gluten free bread.
It's quite simple but affective. Stopping eating bread means, no sandwiches, toast, garlic bread, bread with soup etc. It's not just the bread but what the bread comes with and the fact it's so convenient and easy to over eat and snack on! I do however make my own organic sourdough which I only make a handful of times a year and being fermented with no added ingredients it's good for your gut health. I sometimes add chia or pumpkin seeds for added fibre.
Hello Richard. My name is Brad. Would you mind sharing your recipe for your organic soughdough bread, that sounds delicious, especially since it's much better for you...Thank you.
~Dr. Berg explained that sourdough bread & also bread dough fermented for up to 3 days will have >less gluten< than bread dough fermented for only about 1 hour. ~A person can purchase and also make homemade gluten-free bread. ~I buy and eat Ezekiel type bread, it can come under different brand names like Silver Hills. Ezekiel bread is the healthiest bread you can eat. Ezekiel bread is about as nutrient dense as a bread gets. It is a type of sprouted bread made from a variety of whole grains and legumes that have started germinating (sprouting). Ezekiel bread is much richer in nutrients and fiber. Ezekiel bread is different from most other breads for several reasons. Some Ezekiel breads contain "no" sugar, >it is "not" gluten-free< but it is "not" made from flour or has "no" pulverized ground grains. It is made from organic, sprouted whole grains and legumes. Sprouting changes (increases) the nutrient composition of the grains and legumes significantly. ~(1)But it would be good to know if a person can make homemade or purchase totally gluten-free Ezekiel bread using "only" sprouted legumes and "no" sprouted grains.? ~(2)Does Ezekiel sprouted grain bread have "less gluten" than regular bread with grain flour.? ~(3)How much if any gluten is in Barleygrass or Wheatgrass juice 'or' sprouts.? (I have Barleygrass juice powder.)
Dr. haven’t you considered having your videos translated into spanish or subtitled them! All that information you share is amazing and need to be spread all over🙏🏼
On the serious side, since taking up keto as a major lifestyle change, I have probably eaten three slice of bread since then. Prior to this, I had hip pain so bad, I was certain I would be getting hip joint implants before long. I went full keto and within 30 days, ALL of my joint pain vanished for good. Thank you, Dr. Berg. You have saved, or at least vastly improved, more lives than anyone I know.
I believe you. I started getting rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, especially gout, in my right thumb. Hurt so much, I feared that I could not work anymore. But I was eating bread, bagels, chips, soda, pasta everyday. Stopped and went somewhat keto. 🤣in one week all pain and inflammation was gone, depression gone, energy up in two weeks. This works, and big pharma wants us sick. Stay strong and healthy friend!
@@timwallace5786 But replace with healthy fats and GF beef for nutrients for your pain to dissipate. I walked with a cane for 6 years and I ended up changing my diet in 2019 and felt much better. Unfortunately with the pandemic and moving into our first home I have been off that diet for a year and a half. I've been back on it for the 2nd month and my hip and foot pain has improved already.
I just started eating bread again after taking a year or more off from it and I didn't note anything other than it was a huge inconvenience to not make a quick sandwich. I've got an egg salad sandwich made for my hiking lunch today. Everyone is different and it seems to me that studies need to be grounded on subjects that have similar vs opposing lifestyles. A sedentary person metabolism isn't comparable to some one that goes for 8 hour hikes.
I mean thts like sayin that “everyone is different, if i smoke crack i wont get addicted as you because i work out more”, the point of this is showing the effects on chemicals in bread on the body n how it reacts. We ate bread all our life since kids, and our bodies dealth with it. But what of we didnt eat this bread all our lives? We need a study of a person who hasnt eatn bread all they life
I work with several individuals as a social worker who are in their 90s and eat sandwiches daily for their lunch and do not have any health issues. I am in my early 50s, went gluten free after being diagnosed with a thyroid condition. All my family eat bread and have no issues. These conditions do not apply to everyone. My grandma died at 105 and eat bread daily never spent a day in hospital and did not believe in western medicine. Please we need to take this information with caution.
If you ever followed or read about the Blood Type diet, some blood types are better with grains then others. I am 0- and we do well with the Keto diet which would be the meat and vegetables for most part but not good with grains. I used to get sleepy after eating oatmeal and didn’t know why. But my body had no use for it energy wise. If your blood type is other than 0 you more likely are better equipped to eat grains.
John Gouin - You make an excellent point. I eat bread and grains, in moderation, and I have encountered no health issues because of it. I also do a lot of long distance cycling and workout 3-4 days a week at the gym, and I rely on those carbs to fuel my workouts. I do feel better now that I've stopped smoking that crack, though! LOL 🤣😂
I still occasionally buy organic slice bread which cost more but at least it doesn't have Azodicarbonamide (ADA) which is an FDA approved yoga mat, shoe glue ingredient in over 500 foods made with dough / flour. Researchers say ADA induces asthma, other respiratory symptoms, and weird skin sensations. Over time IMO, ADA probably clogs the arteries (like cheap cooking oils do), sort of like pouring caulking into a straw which leads to heart attacks and strokes.
I have diabetes (2) and the diet instructions include regular carbohydrate food. I am following your keto however and my blood sugar is within safe levels...and I feel healthier Thank you for brilliant vids.
I started a keto diet three weeks ago and I have already lost three pounds. I stopped eating bread, rice, cereal, and anything with wheat. I replaced my favorite snacks, like potato chips, cookies, and crackers with nuts and berries. I still drink milk or yogurt. Pizza was hard to give up but I did it. I do noticed that I feel less bloated. I'm going to give this 6 months. If I like the results, I see no reason to go back. I 100% agree that there are many differences in the food between countries.
Incredible information Dr. Berg. Who would think that gluten is an opioid. Thank god I’m on the ketogenic diet 3 years and of course no bread for 3 years. All of my skin problems went away. Lost 40 pounds and I owe it all to you Dr.Berg🥰💪
I went gluten free about 20 years ago. It was causing terrible headaches, usually along my sinuses, in my nose, over my eyes, and over my ears, and I was always in such a bad mood. It would feel like a mysterious force was resting itself on my shoulders and head. Once I figured out it was happening after meals I finally figured out it was wheat that caused it. I still eat bread, but I eat gluten free bread. It's WAY smaller than normal bread and more expensive, so I don't eat a lot of it.
I have quit bread before and in the beginning I experienced really bad headaches due to killing off candida/yeast, so I can imagine others experiencing this as well. So I'm saying I felt awful for many days before I felt better and i think in my case would reccomend no bread or grains for up to 2 weeks and then do the bread for a week and see the difference in how you can feel. And i believe you're right about everything you explained in your video because I experienced it all and changing my diet helped me tremendously!
I’ve been considering giving up bread for a couple of weeks to see how I feel, since Ive been dealing with bloating and other digestive issues that began when I entered menopause. You’ve convinced me to do so. Thank you!
At 47 I found out many of my health problems were connected to gluten. The chronic constipation I had suffered from since age 5. I ate more All Bran during my childhood than most people eat in their lives. Lots of bloating. Problem got worse, as did the arthritis in my knees that started at the same age. I also remember when I was young I asked my mother about the white pimples on my arms. She said some people in the family just had them. Turns out it is a system of gluten intolerance. Went away with the gluten. The first month was the hardest for me. My body was feeling better. But I was having massive cravings. I really had a hard time. After that I could not care less. When I went full low carb at 52, no problems at all. Better off without grains.
Excellent analysis my dear Dr Berg👍🏻 Please, go further in this particular topic, and compare it with like, flax seed, buck weed and oats. I stopped wheat bread completely, as well as processed corn 3 years now. I’m in remission of my autoimmune conditions since December 2020. Of course, took away refined sugars, and do fasting on a regular basis, be intermittent or prolonged. I almost died in early 2020, doctors here in Canada never touched the dietary factor. Then I had to clean my system from all the drugs given. I did my own research as I’m a sciences degrees holder. You are an important part of my remission. I’ll bless you for the rest of my life 🙏🏻
@@MARIPILIPM I'm not making a decision for you. I am just reporting that many people who identified as gluten-intolerant found that they could consume bread made with einkorn flour without problem.
I gave up bread about 2 years ago. I had been missing being able to eat sandwiches, until I learned about chaffles. They are made from whole egg and cheese...usually mozzarella, but sometimes other cheeses. You can add various different things to it if you want...but only keto friendly stuff. I added baking powder, and psyllium husk to mine. They are awesome. It's great being able to eat sandwiches again.
Haven't had bread since Oct of 2021 and been doing clean keto and IF and I've lost now a total of 70 lbs and im happy with where I'm at but I'm living this as a lifestyle so my goal is to keep it up and work out and keep feeling amazing 👍
I feel so blessed that I never cared for bread or milk. As a kid, my mom made me have a tall glass of milk and a slice of buttered bread with my meals. 🤢 I would snack on lettuce, and she would encourage me to have a pb&j sandwich because I was so skinny. Lol. Not long after getting my school immunization shot, I was diagnosed with asthma. 🤨 I didn't learn till 40 years later that the food items which trigger asthma in me are WHEAT and DAIRY! 🤨 We really need to learn to listen to our body.
I stopped eating grains and in 3 days I was literally a whole different person. Things looked brighter. I felt happy no anxiety, no pain. It was equivalent to a spiritual experience. I have no words to explain. The weight melted off me. I didn't restrict how much I ate as long as it wasn't grains or sugars.
Question/ video request! Your videos have helped our family so much. We are believers in Christ and the Bible and have been on a health journey for awhile. I’ve always been confused why bread is so bad when Jesus ate it daily. We recently j got a grain mill and have purchased organic wheatberries to make our own bread products, wow what a difference I can tell. If you ferment it using the sourdough method it breaks down the phytic acid and makes the nutrients more available. I’ve done some research about the hybridization and it seems like it’s “ok” since it’s wheat to wheat. Also there are ancient grains (einkorn) that haven’t been hybridized. What if our issue is not eating food in the way God created it in the first place? (It is 😉) you lose 90% of grains flour nutrients 3 days after it’s been milled. I can already tell a difference with the fresh flour we’ve been using. I’ve made bread products every day and lost 2 pounds (previously just try and stay away from it) would love to see you study this out! Hopefully this is helpful to someone else.
It’s definitely worth stop eliminating bread. I have gone without eating it for weeks at a time; and than go back to eating it. When I stopped eating bread (went on a vegan diet), I noticed a significant improvement in my health. I think watching this video just helped me to eliminate bread for good from my diet. Thanks for the video.
I used to think bread was okay for me since I didn’t have any of the “classical” symptoms of celiac, but I’ve always had problems with my skin, specifically acne around my jawline. But when I did clean keto (and no gluten at all), for two months, I saw noticeable improvements in my skin.
@@yusufabdullah337 I’ll still eat every now and then. But I had completely cut them out of my diet for a while to “reset” my gut and then later reintroduced those foods slowly back in to allow my gut to break these foods down properly. @@Goldenages2025 yeah, I can’t eat store bought crap, but I bake my own bread every other weekend, alternating between sourdough and long fermented yeasted breads... the trick I’ve found, particularly for gut health is, the longer it ferments (within reason), the better it is for you. A 48hr biga is the best, but it can get tough a chewy, of course a 30 hr sourdough is also great, but once again, tough and chewy...
@@Goldenages2025 it’s not just that, it’s the grains that are actually grown to make flours, they’ve been so genetically altered over the years it’s making it hard for our bodies to digest it properly because it’s not natural any more 😞

@@selenacordeiro1458 I spent a number of my years working on a AAA certified organic grain farm, 100% natural, non GMO, no chemicals. If you can find good organic grain flour, it’s totally worth it. And it typically has a higher W factor, making for stronger, more well structured breads. It’s not lost on me that the W factor is a direct measurement of the percentage of protein to gluten, but regardless, if you have grains or flours with a low W factor, you’re still getting gluten and whatever else you don’t want, but you’re not getting a good strong dough either.
Since going off gluten, or at lest avoiding it 90% of the time, it’s made a HUGE difference with the bursitis in my left hip. Couldn’t believe it when I went on a carb free diet a few years ago. At first I thought it was my imagination, but no. Over time the lack of gluten flour etc made a fabulous difference to my life. I can go for long walks now without having to put an ice pack on my hip when getting home or taking pain killers. Tumeric (Golden Milk) has been a great help too.
I believe in you Dr. Berg. I first followed you here in yt last 2020. I tried IF and done it slowly reducing my food intake for a week, 2nd week 18-6 until I reached OMAD with light exercise. My back ache was gone, tension headache gone. Though I'm not into strict IF now, the most important thing I learned is the will power that I can do it. Now I will try my best not to eat bread for a week and eat bread a week after that. Thank you and all your efforts are very much appreciated most important Very Helpful! Gave up bread back in 2020 , all my aches and pains disappeared as well as my waistline best thing I ever did . It's not easy to do and you will fall off the wagon but every time you do you become more sensitive to the reaction which makes it easier to stay on the wagon. Now that it's been a couple years I have more dough in my wallet then dough around my waste line.
As a diabetic and avid Intermittent Fasting advocate, I switched to sourdough years ago. But thanks to Dr. Berg, I am cutting bread to 1-2. times a week from 1-2 times a day.
I broke up with my biologist boyfriend because he said he doesn’t support my ketogenic lifestyle. I’ve been doing keto for couple weeks now and honestly I don’t have intense cravings. I lost lots of weight (I was in obese category now I’m considered overweight) so far I am liking what I am seeing.
Sourdough bread is definitely my go to when I do eat bread because it does have less gluten like you said. I stopped eating bread on a regular basis but for a treat, sourdough is the way to go. Great video...

@@azmagaref What makes you think that humans should be able to eat "everything" ? Humans are animals with a natural diet just like any other animal. If animals don't eat their natural diets they get sick and die if they keep consuming the unnatural diet. Humans are not made to eat processed food. Fake sweetener and grains are also not our natural diet. Now do veggies. How many vegetables are humans able to eat uncooked ? Ever ate an uncooked potato ? Just go by instinct. If you can't eat it raw, don't eat it. Would you eat raw wheat grains ? No you wouldn't. Would you eat most green veggies raw like broccoli ? No you would not. You would also not eat salad without any dressing. Meat, eggs, milk products and some fruits like berries are our natural diet. Anything else is basically poison for us and for most people it's just a matter of time until they start feeling the effect of it. I used to be able to eat "everything". 23 days gluten free and I’ve never felt better. I had this issue from a child and the doctors couldn’t figure it out. Gas, bloating, constipation, abdominal pain every time I would eat bread, pizza and anything with gluten. I would stop for a while and then go back to eating theses foods because they were so addicting. I finally got tired of the suffering. I realize it’s not worth it. Very informative video, will definitely share with my family.
This is spot-ON. Man, before I started Keto and IF, I craved Dunkin' Donuts bagels. When I went there (luckily, NOT close by my work!!) I could not get just one or two. Nope, it had to be at least 4 if not more. And I'd just sit there and eat them. Not sliced, not toasted, nothing on them - just the bread. It really & truly IS a drug. I feel so much better but that memory of just how good it tasted and the fab mouth-feel, that's still with me. My coworkers brought in bagels today - I resist. I've already lost 35# and I've got 25# more to go. I really don't know if I could ever eat ONE again. I fear it's a very slippery slope with me. Total avoidance is best in this case. Thanks for this video - great timing and very accurate!!

I guess this would also refer to pasta… but as it was mentioned the quality of flour is terrible….
The bread jn europe has lesser preservatives thats why it taste terrible n needs butter. I wonder if there is relevance.

Can u elaborate what you are eating?

Hi how are you feeling today friend
My family and I learned nearly all of our health problems were gluten related last year. My mother and I have both lost around 50 lbs going gluten free ( from getting rid of all the inflation). I feel like I'm 20 again. I learned about Dr. Berg about 9 months ago, and have been educateing myself with his videos ever since. Dr Berg hits the nail on the head in this video with every thing we've learned in the last year concerning gluten. Great video. Thanks for your knowledge
Same here!!

Exactly
You got a very good point, I live in the uk and I am gluten intolerant but eating the bread in France, Turkey, Italy was absolutely fine!
I’m pretty sure that’s Dr. Bergs point. The bread becomes corrupted or tainted from its natural form. Maybe rewatch the video all the way through again.
It is also the genetic modification. And maybe the addiction to the exorphins is part of it, even in Europe! But isn't that amazing about being able to eat Italian wheat.
the chemicals are bad, but the bread can do as he is saying and so can dairy.

The difference is how food is processed today. It's not fresh like your farm. It's filled with harmful chemicals and strange combination of foods like maltodextrin.
Meat was a sunday treat? That rhymes.
quantity/scarcity matters a whole lot. and some people can drink and smoke and live to 100. statistics matter more than anecdotes

Thanks for sharing that info. Just left the doc received a cortisone shot for hip and leg pain. Time to give up bread and carbs .
Same here - hip pain is way down. My hips joints use to click when I walked and now they are much better. Been off gluten for 2 months.
Heck yes! So happy for you and your progress!!
It’s incredible what the body will do when we get out of the way and let it heal as designed.
Right on time I’m cutting bread 🥖 thank you for the information. Loved it!
I have diabetes (2) and the diet instructions include regular carbohydrate food. I am following your keto however and my blood sugar is within safe levels...and I feel healthier
Thank you for brilliant vids.
Wonderful. Keep up the good work!
Haven’t had bread in 8 years. Already been keto and following you for 8 years and it’s flown by!
Every time i watch another of Dr. Berg's awesomely informative videos, i can't decide weather i'm excited or terrified. 🙂

Your diet is under your control, excellent
This is a very good video. I appreciate you informing the masses.
I’ve been considering giving up bread for a couple of weeks to see how I feel, since Ive been dealing with bloating and other digestive issues that began when I entered menopause. You’ve convinced me to do so. Thank you!
Protect this man at all costs!
In Jesus name, Amen.
LMAO
I’ll bless you for the rest of my life 🙏🏻
Look into einkorn.
@@CMZIEBARTH thank you, but it has gluten, even in small quantities. After what I’ve been through, it’s a no no
@@MARIPILIPM I'm not making a decision for you.
Can you writte your recipe in short words please?
Haven't had bread since Oct of 2021 and been doing clean keto and IF and I've lost now a total of 70 lbs and im happy with where I'm at but I'm living this as a lifestyle so my goal is to keep it up and work out and keep feeling amazing 👍
That's really really awesome beautiful friend
What you Eat brother if You stop All Grains and sugar ??
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ! ✝️
Also: Ezekiel bread! Prescribed in the Bible and much more healthy than “regular” bread.
Me too! My skin has been a huge problem for me! I've bought all the expensive washes and lotions and still have problems so this makes total sense!
@@ChaosandCoffee5280 do you mean quit eating all kinds of wheat? Tht includes bread, pasta, bagel, muffins, waffles etc?
Hey, do u mean you quit eating all kinds of wheat? Do u still eat every here & than? Please let me know
@@yusufabdullah337 I’ll still eat every now and then. But I had completely cut them out of my diet for a while to “reset” my gut and then later reintroduced those foods slowly back in to allow my gut to break these foods down properly. I make sure to eat probiotic rich foods such as sauerkraut, kimchi, and kefir to populate my gut with the proper bacteria to break down the starches and carbs from thing such as wheat products. Everyone bio individual, hope u find out what works for you!
Man we all know this, but damn, fresh bread straight from the oven tastes soooo gooood with butter....
Exactly, make it yourself and then the bread 🥖 is not corrupted.🎯
@@Goldenages2025 yeah, I can’t eat store bought crap, but I bake my own bread every other weekend, alternating between sourdough and long fermented yeasted breads... the trick I’ve found, particularly for gut health is, the longer it ferments (within reason), the better it is for you. A 48hr biga is the best, but it can get tough a chewy, of course a 30 hr sourdough is also great, but once again, tough and chewy...
@@Goldenages2025 it’s not just that, it’s the grains that are actually grown to make flours, they’ve been so genetically altered over the years it’s making it hard for our bodies to digest it properly because it’s not natural any more 😞
@@selenacordeiro1458 yep 👍🏻 agreed! That’s why Dr berg is saying “we may Nvr want to eat bread again”. I quit breads and many other products due to Big Corporations corrupting the food industry. It’s all true….ppl are very very sick these days.😕
This guy is so knowledgeable and is my primary Keto source...
May God bless you and your family always! 🙏❤️🇵🇭
So much suffering I've been through as a victim of corporations or was I a victim of ignorance? Either way, I feel great now thanks to TH-camrs like Dr. Berg.
I love you Dr Berg you’ve help me a lot with many health issues I am going through.
Man I love bread! That being said, I actually gave it up 3 years ago!👍🏼 It wasn’t easy but when I hit 300lbs I knew it was time. Thanx to Dr.Berg’s educational videos I’m down to 200lbs! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Yea ,I'm still shrinking, how do o make the weight loss stop ✋️
Congrats! I'm going to start Keto tomorrow. (Scared.)
Love that the dough is in your wallet now!
Ahahah good one

As a diabetic and avid Intermittent Fasting advocate, I switched to sourdough years ago. But thanks to Dr. Berg, I am cutting bread to 1-2. times a week from 1-2 times a day.
Same here, but I have found it hard to kick the bread addiction. I'm now down to x2 Ryvitas a day, sometimes only every other day.
My family looks at me crazy now on how I changed my eating habits listening to your channel. 😅
Ugh I get the same reaction.

My brother for 2 years now has been following this guy to the dot, he even surpassed him into extreme "Ketosis". I'm talking organic butter in a coffee mug to stay full for 12 hours, then he eats his only daily meal of organic fats, greens of all sorts, 2 avos, eggs... etc
He's very happy, he has lost 15+kilos, but we look at him with shocked eyes! That's not normal, humans should be able to eat everything in moderation. I mean we need the joy of different foods, sweets and patisseries!
I can never be on Keto 😑
Then I had surgery on my gut because the doctors in my hospital messed up big time. Now I am healing since over one year and still can't eat most stuff without issues. The natural diet is helping me tho. I feel the best on eggs, meat, fruits and raw milk.
@@shanghaifunk.
I wasn't referring to natural or processed. We are omnivores, by design we can eat both plant and animal diet in combination, somethings the "keto" diet is forbidding is sugar even in fruits. No wheat or flour at all! No potatoes? That's madness, people have survived for centuries on rice and bread alone.
As for raw broccoli and avocado, I've been eating them raw almost on a daily basis for more than a year now.
We should be able from time to time to enjoy even the "bad" stuff, things like cake, patisseries and sweets.. just everything in moderation with activities. I'm not going to deprive myself from enjoying pleasurable food like rice, pasta, carbs and sugars, no way!
I've been grain-free for just about one year now, and boy howdy, has my health improved by leaps and bounds (not to mention a whopping 110 lb. weight loss!!). By God's grace, I will never go back (and honestly, I don't even miss it because a high fat, low carb diet is so satisfying). If only I had known this stuff 40 years ago, I would have had a way healthier life.
That's fantastic!
Well done!
So it wasn't the quote "bread is the staff of life" that kept me eating bread? Doc, this data is mind blowing.

Will test this. The symptoms you've mentioned are alarmingly similar to what I'm undergoing now and I always had bread in the morning (sometimes even in the evening). Let's see what this might entail to me. To harm trying.
I need to find alternatives for my kids. My son loves bread/pasta and has issues with inflammation in his knee. Any tips for kids?
Dr Berg has actually been motivating us and coaching us while we were being edified by his top-notch videos. He got me to go keto and stop NON-nutrient dense carbs like all grains and so many of the legumes or pulses.
Are pulses non nutrient too ?
@@ni12907 The below took me an entire day out of my life studying 50 nerdy websites. Pulses include: lentils, beans, soybeans, peas, peanuts, & chickpeas. Pulses grow ''on'' legumes Legumes are the entire, whole plant which we sometimes eat like, for example, when we eat an entire peapod with the little peas inside it. The peas are a pulse BUT the pod is JUST a part of the entire legume plant which includes the all the pods, peapods, stems, leaves, & roots. Shocker;; pulses are classified as seeds.
