I have the Smooth 4 and you actually don't have to hold the trigger to get it to Pan Follow. Theres a little switch on the front that says "L/PF". Switch from L (lock) to PF (pan follow) and you're good. The trigger allows you to switch briefly on the fly and pan vertically at any time. It's really an awesome setup. A recent update also made the tracking on my iPhone acceptable, but it tends to overshoot a little on my Note 8. In either case, I've gotten it to track my movements pretty nicely.

I started kicking a soccer ball around while filming and you can't even tell I was moving. It's kind of a trip to replay the video knowing I was kicking the ball pretty hard. My wife watched the video and thought I was joking. It's really good. I was using a Galaxy Note so I'm sure the built-in OIS helped, but still...

Imagine GUYS. I also prefer android; I just pre-ordered the Note 9. However, iPhone's have a pretty good camera and frame rates (ex. 1080p at 120fps). Since they are so popular, and have the same software, some applications are also better. For instance, the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 and Moza Mini-Mi both work better on iPhone's.
@@JevenDovey Sorry but that's somewhat of a poor excuse. All of them work with Android too. was going to comment the same thing but I knew someone else would have already. That's just a matter of checking the specs. Many other TH-camrs only have Android or iPhone but they title their video something like "smartphone gimbal...". As a disclaimer u coulda mentioned that u can't vouch for performance/feature difference when using an Android phone. I think you missed out on a lot of views because of the title. But other than constant "iPhone gimbal" utterances...good review😎😁
Honestly really enjoy the DJI Osmo 1 still to this day. Primarily because it has interchangeable batteries. It also from my opinion has much better build quality, just feels more premium. Anymore it’s about the same price too.
I use a lightning T-Splitter on my iPhone 10s. I also have the Saramonic lightning transmitter (which I didn't really need once I found the splitter) and it fits and balances pretty well. But I originally bought the Blink 500 set with two receivers for my DSLR. I love it and now can use it with my iPhone.

That's strange to hear that iPhone with OIS activated works better for gimbals, because previously there was a ton of reviews where people was saing the opposite - that iPhone stabilization struggles to fight a gimbal. Maybe it's just because gimbals operates faster now, or maybe because there is software stabilization improvements for iPhones. BTW what the heck is going on at 2:44? Why this pan is so stuttery?
almost a year in existence and the Smooth 4 still has tracking issues. That's really the only thing holding me back from buying Smooth 4... I guess its true, Zhiyun gave away too many free Gimbals that obviously a lot of people will say good things about it and try to sugar coat the negative ones (like hopefully it gets fixed with software update). Thanks JEVEN, if not for your video and comments of everyone here I wouldn't realize this and might have gotten the Smooth 4 as well... Since it's black friday, the OSMO 2 is currently on sale so I'm probably gonna buy that one already. I love the physical buttons on the Zhiyun but it's really a lot bigger compared to the OSMO2... plus the #1 feature a gimbal should have (aside from stabilizing) is tracking. And after several months, tracking is still not fixed so yeah.. I've given Zhiyun enough time already. Time to jump into the DJI OSMO 2.
It’s interesting that he’s rating these on everything but their ability to make stable footage. He’s picking based on tracking. But the two gimbals he likes best have the choppiest video. This is an interesting case of the reviewer having extreme personal bias, which makes the review fairly unusable.
Got DJI, it's great experience compare smooth 4, I been struggling a lot with that Gimble, especially with android, DJI has no problems or so with Android platform compare Smooth 4.

I was really wanting an Osmo Mobile 2 until I saw reviews of how the internal stabilizer of my iPhone 7+ would not work well with it, so did you not have a problem or is it that my phone is just too old now? I want a gimbal to use with my iPhone 8 to record myself giving presentations. I would like for it to be able to be set on a stool or stand and it track me. The presentations are less than 2 hours. Which one would work best for that purpose?
@citiZen I was concerned about that as well when I first got the gimbal but there have had plenty of patch updates that fixed almost all the issues and now is just very slightly behind filmic pro
I have a Smooth Q and with the app I can do a moving time lapse (however I HAVE to use the app to set start and end position and then hit record on the app to start moving time lapse). Do you know any gimbal where I can set the start/end position using the app but then I can mount my GoPro for time lapse and not use the gimbal app?

You're 110% Wrong about keeping your phones stabilizer on. I am working with the Galaxy S9+ 4k 60FPS with out the stabilizer on and my DJI Osmo Mobile 2 has no jitter at all.

I had the Smooth 4 for a couple of months now and it has really served me well. The tracking really does suck but since I really only use the gimbal in manual mode and also the wheel works perfectly fine for me.
I finally received my Flowmotion One and was interested to compare its features with these four products. Any reason you did not include it in your review?
I bought the DJI OSMO mobile gimball 1, ±2 years ago. Loving it for a long time. But there came the DJI OSMO mobile II, so I tought it's better "Let's buy it". Worst choise ever. Now I have the Smooth 4 and this is the best gimball I ever had in my hands.

Question if you want to use this Gimbal to shoot videos of homes for real state, considering the trigger of the FreeVision Vilta M and the smoothness of the DJI Osmo Mobile 2, using an Iphone XS which one you consider is more proper to use? I am a rookie but i guess the Vilta M could be more useful to catch great angles right? but i see DJI is mmore commercial and you said the Filmic Pro is integrated....
Vilta M is smoother than DJI when it comes to stabilisation. I own it for 6 months and using it almost every day. You can use Filmic Pro on vilta too, but I think that app is overrated.
I have also seen Atom reviews a while ago. What products do you think are the best when comparing video stability, specification, and performance, including Atom? please please answer me~~~^^

Just a newbie with the Smooth 4. So far I like the quality build and all the features that pair seamlessly and hands-free with the XY Play app. Haven't tried any of the others yet, though for any comparisons.
Jeven, Very nice review and testing of these four gimbals. I was surprised with the final ratings of these gimbals, especially the Smooth 4 coming in at 3rd place. DJI does make a good product but the Vilta M seems to be built a lot better. Don't own any of these, own a Smooth 3 which is built like a battership and works will. vilta m is really better than smooth 4, dji osmo 2 and mini mi, and it's tracking object mode is the most sensitive one and it app is more friendly to android phone
I am very surprised at your experience with the Smooth 4. I have it, as well as the DJI Osmo 2. I love the Smooth 4, totally dislike the Osmo 2. Just personal preference I guess! I do have the Osmo 2, new in the box. Will sell with stand for $100.

Thanks - another excellent and thorough video. One other thing I like about the Vilta is that it can take an action camera in addition to a smartphone. The Osmo 2 can theoretically do it but I've seen quite a few folks say "no it won't". I have an Osmo 2 and I have had fun with it. It wasn't expensive, and I figure it's a starter gimbal. Though if I'd seen this review before buying the Osmo (I bought it the week before you made this) I probably would have chosen differently.

Not sure how well they perform if I do more rigorous activities like biking or running. Mounting is another issue for these and I can't find any wearable gimbals for phones, only gopros.

I read some reviews that Mini-Mi is having some motor issues after like 3 or 4 uses and it makes a lot of noise? Did you come across these issues? And which one would you recommend? The DJI Osmo has the 'tilt lock' feature, its in the app settings. You'll need to enable it to use it.

I've been into 4. 3 of them I borrowed from my friends. I would say Smooth 4 is the best bad boy among them for its simplicity and ease.

diman He talks about the Electronic-IS and the the physical OIS which was reported as producing nonsmooth footage. This one cannot be deactivated....

Use a magnet on the iPhone with a gimbal.
The thing with OIS is that the move can not not move because it's soft mounted and slugs around when OIS is tuned off.

I bought the DJI OSMO mobile gimball 1, ±2 years ago. Loving it for a long time. But there came the DJI OSMO mobile II, so I tought it's better "Let's buy it". Worst choise ever. Now I have the Smooth 4 and this is the best gimball I ever had in my hands.
I just picked up the DJI and really happy about the Filmic compatibility. It was a deal breaker for me. I would not have known this if it was not for this review - so THANKS a TON Jeven!

Need to calculate weight in for auxiliary lenses AND FILTERS. Too many of these don’t handle the needed accessory weight

Question if you want to use this Gimbal to shoot videos of homes for real state, considering the trigger of the FreeVision Vilta M and the smoothness of the DJI Osmo Mobile 2, using an Iphone XS which one you consider is more proper to use? I am a rookie but i guess the Vilta M could be more useful to catch great angles right? but i see DJI is mmore commercial and you said the Filmic Pro is integrated....
Vilta M is smoother than DJI when it comes to stabilisation. I own it for 6 months and using it almost every day. You can use Filmic Pro on vilta too, but I think that app is overrated.
I have also seen Atom reviews a while ago.
What products do you think are the best when comparing video stability, specification, and performance, including Atom?

Hi Jeven, I saw this video and I need a help. I made a few videos on my trip with a Zhiyun Smooth Q and iPhone 8 Plus The problem is that on the booth devices video stabilisation was on and I got that footage like on 2:48 minute of your video. Do you have an Idea how to fix it? Thanks
Just a newbie with the Smooth 4. So far I like the quality build and all the features that pair seamlessly and hands-free with the XY Play app. Haven't tried any of the others yet, though for any comparisons.
Jeven, Very nice review and testing of these four gimbals. I was surprised with the final ratings of these gimbals, especially the Smooth 4 coming in at 3rd place. DJI does make a good product but the Vilta M seems to be built a lot better. Don't own any of these, own a Smooth 3 which is built like a battership and works will. vilta m is really better than smooth 4, dji osmo 2 and mini mi, and it's tracking object mode is the most sensitive one and it app is more friendly to android phone
I am very surprised at your experience with the Smooth 4. I have it, as well as the DJI Osmo 2. I love the Smooth 4, totally dislike the Osmo 2. Just personal preference I guess! I do have the Osmo 2, new in the box. Will sell with stand for $100.

I have the OSMO 2. You suggested using it with an ND filter. How do you apply an ND filter to the iPhone

Thanks - another excellent and thorough video. One other thing I like about the Vilta is that it can take an action camera in addition to a smartphone. The Osmo 2 can theoretically do it but I've seen quite a few folks say "no it won't". I have an Osmo 2 and I have had fun with it. It wasn't expensive, and I figure it's a starter gimbal. Though if I'd seen this review before buying the Osmo (I bought it the week before you made this) I probably would have chosen differently.
Very great video, dude! Do you know which can handle the most payload? I know the moza can handle 300g. Which is good for lens and such. But are any of the others handle more?

DJI is my favorite. I'd go for the DJI Osmo Mobile 3
what about the Vilta-M Pro? I think it has better tracking. Review look good
@@JevenDovey now I'm reconsidering. I think the Vilta-M Pro has great features, and can still integrate with Filmic Pro app, although the DJI has built in Filmic capabilities, I do like it's compactness. I don't think I can go wrong with either

vilta m is a good choice, it's very stable and affordable, you could check some tutorials of it.

Not sure how well they perform if I do more rigorous activities like biking or running. Mounting is another issue for these and I can't find any wearable gimbals for phones, only gopros.
Hi Jeven, I'm trying to decide whether to go with Moza Mini-Mi , Zhiyun Smooth 3 or DJI Osmo Mobile 2? I had recently upgraded to iPhone XS Max so I need that extra payload capacity. I read some reviews that Mini-Mi is having some motor issues after like 3 or 4 uses and it makes a lot of noise? Did you come across these issues? And which one would you recommend? Thanks for the help in advance.

I notice that you said with iPhone XS Max the gimbal was bit on the heavy side.
