    The book that Jay mentioned, "Flywheel" is full titled "Flywheel: Memories of the Open Road". Written by English POW's in WWII Germany. Reading some of the contents of the book makes it sound very interesting. Available at a reasonable cost at several used bookstores on the Internet. It was surprising to learn that the Germans provided writing and drawing materials to the British considering the history of the concentration camps. Another great episode of the Audrain. Subscriptions to the channel are rising at a steady rate. I subscribed when there was less than 100 members and was shocked the number was so low, but that has all changed in the past year. Great show always. Thanks for the efforts to bring this quality presentation to You Tube.

    It's strange that your subscriptions are so low Don. With the odd couple dynamics between you and Jay, the interesting subject matter and presentation, I'd expect your channel to be over a million.

      It's actually quite confusing. This should be a million subscribers channel all day long.

    • @cha0tr0pic
      @cha0tr0pic ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's the way youtube works. No matter who you are or what organisation you represent, building a channel from scratch is a slow business & getting to 50k usually takes years. But the more subscribers you get, the more views you get & the more the algorithm notices you, then the quicker new subscribers come in, so 100k should arrive faster than it took to get to 50k. As long as they keep at it & maintain momentum, this channel WILL end up getting the subscribers it deserves, since the content is so good!

    My dad had an old friend that had a side gig delivering collector cars across the country for a small list of clients. One day in around '87 or '88 he showed up to our house in a 512 BBi. I was only around 6 years old at the time. A memory of sitting in my father's lap in the passenger seat, going around 130MPH in the middle of town (by far the fastest I'd ever gone up to that point), is a memory I will never forget. Real safe I know 😄 but hey, it was the 80's! I was already a car nut by then but that experience didn't do anything to quell my enthusiasm!

    Only Jay Leno can make us feel we are slumming with ordinary New England architecture - in robber baron’s estates - compared to his opulent mansion just down the road that is only his summer getaway. Jay driving with Donald in museum class vehicles makes us feel like it is an attainable experience with the guy next door, compared to his vast collection of every imaginable motorcar that are beyond everyone’s wildest dream. It is not acting it is they are both just having fun and that is common to every man in every age🦊

    Awesome content, brilliant banter between the hosts, incredible cars, conversation, scenery, and houses. Thank you, it is really apricated. As many other commenters, I was also wondering why the channel doesn't have more subscribers?
    Maybe it is because the content is slightly academic, there is no sketchy workshop element, very little drama, no challenges, nobody making fools of themselves etc.
    Only enlightened conversation and geeky details shared between knowledgeable presenters.

    Nice video, gentleman. The styling of both the Boxer and the Jag are stunning, IMO. They are curvy, sensuous, yet clean and elegant! I find that home, however, to be a bit underwhelming inside and out. It's a bit sterile especially compared to some of the beautifully ornate homes you have featured previously.

    I’ve got a real problem with the trend toward not offering a true manual transmission. Not that I’m actually in the market for a new Ferrari mind you. But in my 47 years of being a licensed driver, and probably at least two dozen different vehicles, I’ve only owned three automatics. Some were antiques built before an automatic transmission was a thing, some were trucks where the manual offered greater durability and pulling power, but the rest were simply more fun to drive. Modern car manufacturers are really missing the mark. When you buy a sports car you want your soul to connect with it, and you can’t do that with a slushbox or paddly shifters.

    • @Charlesb88
      @Charlesb88 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What you call a cheap Ferrari (the Ferrari 308 GTS) sold for around $45,000 MSRP in 1979 (which is around $200,000 in todays money so while cheaper then more desirable Ferraris still not exactly cheap. They sold one that Magnum drove on the show at auction in 2017 for like $180,000 which is less then what it would have sold for originally adjusted for inflation but still hardly cheap. But, yes, the 308 GTS was a “cheaper” Ferrari back then but hardly one cheap enough that the common people could afford it. But it still has a cool factor to it IMO even if it wasn’t a top of the line Ferrari back in the 80s.

    • @tomboston9669
      @tomboston9669 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Charlesb88 Yeah, I should have said "Cheap-er" rather than just cheap. No Ferrari is cheap. 308's are very nice but 512 BB's are in a very different category. 308's competed with 911's and 512BB's were meant to compete with Countach's

    I am sorry Donald but the word "Berlinetta" derives from the Italian word "Berlina" which is Italian for saloon or sedan cars. A Berlinetta is not a 'coupe" a French word meaning a 2-seater vehicle but rather a "Berlinette." A Berlinetta is technically just a small or smaller saloon car not necessarily. a 2 -seater or 2-door coupe`. But Ferrari's with the BB's name was harking back to the fabulous 1952 225S Berlinetta which had a closed cockpit (berlinetta) rather than an open cockpit (spider) like the previous 1951 225 Export race car.
