  • The Mk.8 Volkswagen Golf GTI is here with us today. When you talk about a hot hatch the GTI has always been synonymous with the term. It might not look as angry as its cousins on the same platform, but could it still be the better driver's car despite having slightly less power?

I had an MK7 while living in the US. Your words in this video is the exact same thing I felt when I had the car especially at the bends. It just cuts the curves so smoothly like butter, even on rainy wet days. The power it produces hits the sweet spot to not cause you to lose control of the car. This or the Golf R will still be my favourite everyday car to drive.

Quite sure can vagcom to enable ambient lighting to change according to drive modes, as well as display drive mode message on the active info display when drive mode changes.

the suspension and ride comfort seems good
Recently a couple decided to test it out at the HDB Multiple story carpark and damn the suspension is good

The pricing on this is insane. The price they are asking for might be acceptable for a Golf R but it’s absurdly overpriced for a GTI

7:05 Agree with you about the lack of real buttons. Not a fan of this red (prefer the old Tornado Red) or the non-adjustable headrests in front.

I think only Malaysia assembled it and only sell to local Malaysian market. Im waiting for it to launch early 2022. Price should be around RM220-240k.

  • @silenthunt

I was suprised when you said you prefer the GTI over the Cupra. I compared this review with the Cupra Leon and I realised. You set the steering and suspension to comfort for cupra and you spend more like talking about the features then the handling or zipping it around the corners. Why would you set a hot hatch suspension to comfort and review it? It gives the impression and you are not doing justice to the Cupra, beside being a better deal due to power output. It almost sounds like you like GTI cos it's a VW. What I'd Seat Cupra? As an enthusiast, brand shouldn't matter that much.

I think he just like the VW badge than CUPRA (SEAT)... I think he is being biased with the review due to his own preference.

Won’t buy. Ugly pear shaped car. Bad rep for maniac driving as often featured in fb: sg road vigilante because of that “sweet spot” to thrash the car. So of cos have market for a lot of ah beng speedsters. 🙄
