Nailed it - I'd also recomend going over to the Library Tab, scrolling to the bottom, and customizing that so you don't see a bunch of junk. You can also then go to the download option on that screen to further just show stuff you currently have.

Good video! I use several Kindles running Show Mode and applying these settings has made the Kindles run much smoother. Show Mode is now more stable as it would frequently just run Black screen within a day or two. Thanks again, Cheers!

Black screen might be best, lol. I had to set my Echo Show 8 to night mode, which only shows a dim clock. Why? There are now tons of ads that cannot be disabled. You can get rid of some in the settings, but now they force ads for Alexa Skills(apps), and even if I ask for the weather report, on the second page, 80% of the page is ads.
This is SO helpful. I am on my 4th Kindle and never knew any of this. Thanks.

Today i got my new 10 . i found your video and now my tablet is now mine not filled with amazon's promotions . i am so grateful . Wow very helpful, it's been many years since I had a fire, I just wanted an inexpensive tablet for games, but ipads and samsungs are SO expensive. Got a good deal on this Fire HD10 but it is so different from my favorite ipad, learning a whole new interface. Thanks SO much!

Excellent video, well presented and extremely helpful. Today I received my new Amz Fire HD 10 (no ads) and followed your instructions with ease. One thing did notice: On the section Security & Privacy > Device Administrators > I have Parental Controls ON. I turn it off but it just keeps turning back on. Is this ok? I def do not need nor want parental controls, especially as device administrator! Many thanks.
I am glad that you are finding the video helpful. That is strange that the parental controls are coming back on.
It should not be "automatically" turning on by itself. It also requires a pass code to enable it and a pass code to disable it. Unless you are entering a pass code you cannot enable it nor can you disable it.

thanks! an excellent, clear, and very helpful video. I'm curious if you have any privacy or other concerns about enabling location for the purpose of finding a lost tablet? I'm absentminded enough to see the benefit in being able to find a lost tablet, yet a bit distrustful of what else Amazon might do with my location info if I keep that option turned on. either way - thanks again for all these tips!

I downloaded some music via bluetooth to my fire tab 8 but now I don't know where to find it so I can listen to them

Great help with the settings Jason, it all seems like a mystery sometimes. Thanks. I was trying to find a way to play TH-cam TV on my Fire 10 and instead of installing the Google Play app I found I could log in to my TH-cam TV account on the Silk Browser and the live TV will play automatically. Just like on my iPhone.

@SimplySmart123 Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Do you happen to know where the "Location Services" is for the Fire HD 10 (7th Gen)? When I bring up the map app, I want it to show my current location. I've been trying to research this for the past two hours. No luck so far. Thanks in advance for any help - please don't spend moire than ten minutes on this.
Since they don't have a cellular signal I don't know if they would be able to triangulate their position like a cell phone for example but you can use wifi.
Go to your tablet’s home screen.
Swipe down the quick action panel from the top of the screen.
Tap on the cog shaped Settings menu option.
Tap on Location-based Services.
Tap on the toggle so that it says On.

Very helpful video! I am totally new to Fire tablets. I purchased a Fire HD 8+ & have an adult & child profile set up. There is an app installed on the adult profile that I am trying to share on the child profile. I have been researching & going through all the steps to share, but to no avail. Regardless of what I do, I can't get the child profile to see the app. Any suggestions? Also, I do not have Amazon Kids + subscription. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Child profiles are locked down hard. I would just make an adult account for the child with restrictions.

Yes you can add Google Chrome by installing an APK file. I have I have a video on how to do that.

There are settings for your lock screen contents and notifications in your settings menu.
Better late (1 year) than never. This really cleaned up my HD 8. Thank you. BTW, I slowed the playback on your video to .75.... my hearing isn't that good. It helped tremendously.

Thanks for the video. I just got a Fire 7 and it updated before I got all the way through setup. There is no "Find my tablet" any more on that screen. I wonder what they did with that option.

That is very strange. Maybe try to power it down and then back up and see if there is any change.

Is there a way of any all that let's you change the app icons into something diffrent? Because on my phone it let's me change all icons differently so I wanna know if I came so this here too
I don’t think so but you could search for an app in the Amazon App Store.
Thank you for this informational video. On Kindle Fire HD 10, when you choose the "Shop Amazon" app, is the Amazon Assistant available? I've googled how to add Amazon Assistant to use on a Kindle Fire, but I've had no luck. Additionally, do you know if choosing Amazon Smile is an option in Shop Amazon. Thanks so much for your help. I've googled these questions for hours and cannot find consistent answers.
Are you talking about Alexa (Amazon assistant)?
Alexa is the Amazon assistant for the Fire HD 10 Plus Tablet. Kindle Reader doesn't have it? Activate the Alexa Voice option in the Settings, if you have the Fire HD 10 Plus version. I don't know about the Kindle Reader version.
Thanks so much for your help and expertise as I am very much a rookie of Tech! Could you help me as I have 7 audio songs in a separate file on my new Amazon Fire 10 inch tablet. By touching one of the songs the tablet will play the song. How do I get all 7 songs to play one after another and then repeat playing all 7 songs? Bless you for your ministry to us rookies!

Not sure about that app. But you could install it probably using the Google Play Store and test it out. I do not want my Amazon Photos to upload on my fire tablet. Do you know how to turn that feature off, or remove the app?
I think that is a core app so it can't be uninstalled but you don't need to use it.
