Craig got his hands on a $600 fake Rolex Pepsi and compares it to his real Pepsi. He will tell you the best ways to spot a fake Rolex. Exactly. One can argue that a BMW is worth its cost. Luxury watches are purely displays of wealth, and nothing more.
I own a real Pepsi, but I do wonder why sometimes… i agree with the comment that it is a display of wealth, but in all honesty it was my dream watch for more than 25 years before i was able to comfortably afford one. I’m not into cars or fancy clothes, so it was the one expensive thing I bought for myself. I know it doesn’t justify it, but that was my reason.
I have a high quality fake AP Royal Oak, and tbh it looks great, works great and I’m not scared to wear it in less safer countries. It has a reliable Japanese movement and keeps great time. So really there’s very little downside

I’m a graphic designer by trade and when we are describing typography details and spacing, the technical term for the spacing between letters is called ‘kern’ or ‘kerning’.

The Rolex GMT Master 2 is 12.2mm thick, a Clean Factory fake GMT Master 2 is 12.2mm thick.
Here is my conundrum. I am 81 and cannot afford a new Rolex, but I absolutely love the "Pepsi". Having a clone on my wrist is not an issue with me. It is all about how it looks. I do know many of the "tells" to look for on a clone, super clone and "frankenstein" but those differences are not that important to me at this time in my life. Is my question to you "where can I buy an excellent clone or better for around $500-$600 dollars?" a proper question for you? Your video is very good.

The thickness tells me this is not a super clone.
I know it’s one of the two most accurate fakes. I am not going to give any further information about it as I don’t want to encourage purchasing it

There’s better fakes out there that have the exact same case thickness… can’t even trust that anymore. However, if you want to buy a gen Pepsi right now have fun waiting for months from an ad. I’d almost rather buy a replica rather than wait over a year, or need a long list of previous purchases to qualify for a gen 40mm. There’s a huge work of replicas out there that are so good, even jewelers are having a hard time telling without opening the case back

Yeah the latest super clones are impossible to tell from the real ones without opening the case back and comparing with a magnifying loop. The level of finishing is absolutely astounding.

Excellent comparo! everything on the genuine should and is better, but the most glaring difference that you pointed out - to me - is the "chronome ter" oil stamping spacing - can't fool a connoisseur with that and the case thickness. Thanks a million!

Wow! I've been seriously thinking about purchasing a super clone GMT-Master II... if and when I get the funds, that is.
However, you've changed my mind. Thank for an honest take on the fave vs. the real deal. Obviously, I'll be able to afford a real Pepsi, but maybe someday I'll be able to afford a Tissot PRX or Seiko SKX007/009.

You have an early version, as new super clones are now spot on with colour and text and size. The bracelet is also spot on. You can even get clones now that are 2 toned with Gold or platinum.
A shame you didn't have any close up of the rehaut or serial number, would have loved to see if it was one of the newer model, tho it seems like you've got the one with the 3186 movement, not the new one that released at the start of the year with the 1:1 3285 movement or the refresh from 3 weeks ago, obviously, which fixed the bezel colors and uv reactiveness. Good video otherwise, this watch is nwbig imo tho. I don't support scamming people, which is the only thing you sort of people think of when it comes to reps, but rolex is already scamming with the insane prices and prioritizing grey market dealers.
Edit: nvm it is the 3285 movement 1:1 rep. Good job, it's still before the refresh with the new bezel tho.

To me the instant tell for any fake is the finishing on the rehaut. For some reason, the factories that make fakes can nail so many details, but can't get this one right. Genuine rehauts have a nice luster and sheen, with a pronounced reflective effect. It's a higher contrast finish; on the rehaut for the genuine Rolex, the markers on the dial reflect bright, and the black dial reflects dark.

There are so many qualitiy levels among fake watches. There are replicas that even watch master cant recognize before open mechanism. And even inside its not easy to see difference. Only for experienced masters.

Replicas are cool as long as you're honest about it. That's my two cents.
In other words, it’s nearly impossible to tell them apart. Which is why I avoid.
I knew right away. The dead giveaway for me is the colour of the Blue on the bezel. On the genuine, it's much closer to a purple than a blue. Maybe it's just me, but I definitely see a purple hue in the genuine.
They actually have a updated version where the bezel looks identical.
Good eye…I had a chance of buying a Gen Pepsi and past on it for this reason…didn’t much like the shade of Blue.

@@wristenthusiast it was the angle of the metal connecting the case back to the case. I looked at mine and it’s almost flat. That one was almost like a ski slope
The Clean factory case and case back are both 1-1, direct swap. This isn't a super clone, it's got the SA 3285 movement which is too thick.

I agree its better money spent on a real watch vs a fake. The biggest issue with fakes are what happens if you need a service. I have a Tissot Gentleman open heart and absolutely love it to the point I might never buy another watch.

If it needs service, you buy a new one. Do you know how much the service of a gen Rolex is? You can buy 2 super clones for it.
You obviously go to the rep community in search of a watchmaker, that is if you really don't find any locally which would do it for you, which I doubt would happen, if you look hard enough you'll find someone. Otherwise maybe learn to do it yourself, grab a ultrasonic cleaner and baskets, 2 burgeon screwdrivers or a set of chinese ones that's around 80 dollars, those are good too, a pair of precision tweezers and a watch opener for rolex, some lubricants and applying brushes. You'll easily be able to do it yourself, take a lot of pictures and the only genuinely hard parts would be to lubricate the jewels. But hell, if you ask for a service before they ship the rep to you and pay for it you'll not need to service it for like 10 years nor regulate it.

It's not question of better spend money 600$ vs 16k it's two different classes of the same thing. They both have their advantages. GMT master Pepsi at AD you can forget about it it will not happen
I'm a fan of genuine watches and have a Rolex sub myself, but sometimes I wonder what measurable benefit one gets for the astronomical the price difference approx. $15,000 on average for a real Rolex and $600 for this super replica ... what additional benefit or value is the extra $14,400 delivering? appreciation in value and/or design quality is debatable, so it makes me think that this is more about exclusivity than anything else.
Zman --- I'm with you. I could afford, but do not have, a Rolex. I struggle with spending $8-11k for an Explorer, nevermind how difficult it can be via the AD route. Some fakes are getting so good you have to take off the watch and have someone use a loupe to find the fake.
I can live knowing its not the real deal. Think I'd find it hard not to save $10,000 for something else... or give to my kids.

Thinking through this a bit more for fun and equating it to art as an analogy, it seems more acceptable to buy copycat reproduction of well-known artwork to avoid paying high prices for the original or authorized print. One could argue those copycat reproductions are "fakes" as well, yet no one blinks an eye when that occurs. Disney has lots of intellectual property in their characters, however many people are willing to use Disney's characters for profit and gain without authorization. I see the reason to not buy replica watches as it protects the interest of those who own the real Rolex watches, but I also see the reason why people buy replicas because it's a bit ridiculous how outrageous the prices are compared to the value it provides... unless of course the watches are made of rare precious metals like gold.
That's why I prefer neo-vintage as opposed to the modern Rolex, the fakes weren't good back them and I don't think they back date super clones. well that and Neo-vinage is just 10X cooler than modern Rolex jewelry. I said neo-vintage for a reason, modern have super clones due to unavailability and cost and vintage have franken parts due to extreme values (think of Omega getting fooled and all the frauds shown by periscope). I find that neo-vintage is the safest sweet spot and there isn't any great return trying to make a 16610 Sub from 1990 a bit better with enhanced patina on the tritium loom plots.
Funny part is that fake isn't even that good, the color of the bezel gives it away. Newer reps are ALMOST indistinguishable with the naked eye.
If a fake can do the same as the original, then I would not mind buying one, especially that it would not damage a manufacturer which has years long waiting list, and has ridiculously expensive watches.

How could you make a video about spotting a fake Rolex and not mention that the fakes don't have a free sprung balance? My understanding is that as of today that is the single easist way to spot a fake. The super clones have gotten everything else basically right, but they have to cut cost somewhere so they still use a traditional balance with the visible regulation arms which you can easily see in your fake here.
One of the reasons why I love went for a Sky dweller over the GMT Pepsi … you can probably fake the looks of the Sky Dweller but can’t fake the nice movement and way how to operate it
What's wrong with superclone GMT master 2 Pepsi? It works maybe has a few seconds more of delay but will you notice it. You wear watches mainly for looks especially Rolex watches so if clone is 95-99% same as original its cheaper, tells time, look same with 2% difference so nothing wrong with it. By the way 99% of people will never see original Pepsi can't afford it and on top of that Rolex doesnt make enough if them and dealers are syphening them to gray dealers so we have to seek alternative and that's where superclones come in place

I had seen my friend's "Premium" fake pepsi.He bought it for USD1.2K. Everything outside is exactly the same except for the engine inside. But only someone who had work with Rolex watch for life can tell it's fake.
That's not a good replica. A true super clone is going to have spot on dimensions and fonts and colors. Even the movement is hard to tell.

Well you could have stopped the video with the thickness disparity. A real watch obviously has the right specifications but if it is indeed the best or one of the best clones out there the thickness is also going to be correct so the one you're using is a bad example

The bezel color is already a dead giveaway. I know not a lot of people have personally seen a BLRO in person but if you have you know that Red/Blue color is NOT a true representation of its colors, it's more an "off color". Buy the SELLER people, not the watch.
Buy the seller is the best advice if you can’t get from an AD. In the unlikely event something gets buy them you’ll still be safe.
That fake one is not even a top notch replica, the best ones I have seen have a fully cloned movement which makes the thickness identic. Second - the bezel on the fake one is supose to mimic the mk1 bezel, which has that faded tone to it. So bezel not really a big giveaway.
I almost bought a franken Pepsi last year, the watch had a genuine dial, crystal and hands. Only think that gave it away was the rehaut engravings, but you need a genuine watch to compare, if not you dont have a chanse of telling its a fake watch.

That Baltic GMT is beautiful, and Seiko's recent entry-level GMT movement has opened the door for all sorts of sub-$600 GMT watches that look great and work well (even if they don't look quite as great or work quite so well as a GMT Master; but hey they're 1/20t the price and you're not out there pretending it's something that it isn't.)
I also love citizens new gmt design wise. But that’s a little more pricey at around $1700 usd
These are way better than, let's say, a Seiko 5 GMT. I know because I had one which I sold after receiving this rep. The Seiko is garbage in comparison

I have 2 genuine Rolexes, and its really hard for me to justify buying another one. The rep you have here isn't the best one. The pepsi rep I have doesn't have the letter spacing issue, and I upgraded the bezel and crystal. I've put it next to a gen pepsi and it is impossible to tell the difference without magnification or opening up the case back.
Great video but the unfortunate reality is that the fake you have is bad. The case size difference alone is hilarious. If you had a better example it would be harder to tell the difference.

Here's a clue. Buy the fake company out and for the money give their clients both, Why? Because you are giving your clients security, and you make it public if you are informing a thief that you are increase the risk of stealing their watch. From that point forward no one who buys a Rolex will have to worry about having their watch stolen.

Your friend not only gave you a fake, he gave you a garbage fake. He needs to up his fake game. The only thing worse than a faker is a cheap faker. Looking at the dial printing, nobody would be fooled. Such a weird idea to buy a fake Rolex anyway. It's like admitting defeat and not at the same time.

the tells in these higher level fakes are a little easier when you have a confirmed genuine to compare them side by side.
but if you only have one watch in hand and do not have a ton of experience, it can be very difficult to determine authenticity.
That’s the really hard part. When you don’t have a genuine watch next to it to spot the differences. That’s why finding a trustworthy seller is so important.
