Buying a Rolex 'Sprite' GMT Master 2 from Rolex AD - 126720VTNR (Left Hand GMT)

- On Wednesday 26th July 2023 I was lucky enough to have purchased a Rolex Left Hand GMT Master 2 Sprite, Reference 126720VTNR directly from my Rolex Authorised Dealer.
This watch is super rare and is expected to have a short production run due to the complication and costs associated with making a Left Hand Drive watch.
This watch has been my holy grail since its release by Rolex in early 2022. I expected to be on a wait list for this watch for a minimum of two years! However my call came early and now I am a proud owner of a truly special timepiece, one that i'm sure will be inscribed in the Rolex history books for years to come.
I am lucky enough to have been offered the Sprite on a Jubilee bracelet which for a GMT I feel is the most suitable configuration. The left hand drive and crown and date wheel, makes this watch extremely special.

It's a beauty Adam. I picked up a 126715 ChNR just a few weeks earlier from your favourite store. Each time I pass which is generally every couple of weeks I always check out what's on display in the window. A stunning lefty black green GMT appeared then disappeared ,I see she's gone to a loving home. Good luck in everything you chase adam

Nothing quite like a GMT in my opinion:)
It's my first Rolex and I know I'll grin for years to come each time I put her on.
I bought a Graham chronofighter as my first watch for my 40th then over the last few years a couple of bremonts, one for my 50th but my GMT feels different, the weight the colours , different colours in different lights and accuracy is something, doesn't gain or loose a second over 10 days I kid you not.

Yes I was only registered for the Jubilee. However i liked both equally, i just find the jubilee more stylish and wearable

Just put my name down in my AD. She said I will call you for sure. I don't want hold my breath. She said they don't really have a "list". The same store was broke in the night before and there were cops everywhere and it is still open!!

Hey man, Happy for you that you got something you wanted so bad. I do find one thing you said curious. You said that this is more expensive for Rolex to produce due to the reverse machining and tooling? I don't see how that is the case. The watch uses the same exact movement as the rest of the GMT line just rotated 180 degrees and the case is no different just upside down. In fact, the only thing I can think of that Rolex would have to produce differently would be the date wheel having to be printed backwards so the numbers are not upside down when on the left side and the dial with the date window on the left. So, Im wondering, do you have some knowledge that you can share that as to why this would be so expensive for them? Im genuinely curious.

Best GMT ever wear it ok your right hand
Do you find it odd to wear on left hand as its designed for right hand?
I did for the first week. Not so much the feel but more the visuals, after being used to the batgirl.
However can safely say after a week, it felt more comfortable and positioned better. The crown doesn’t dig in to your hand, also stops watch thieves seeing the crown popping out of your jumper.
Hands down the comfiest and best watch I have.

I just absolutely love the quirkiness of the left hand styling! I actually think all watch crowns should be on the same side as the wearing wrist to prevent it getting knocked! Not sure what your thoughts are?

Sprite or Root beer?
Such a hard one to compare. Both look insanely good on the wrist. luxury feel however, maybe not as much versatility. The sprite is probably the most special Rolex in the range due to it being the first left-handed watch, and also looks amazing on the Jubilee bracelet. I think I had to pick one or the other I would go for the sprite due to it being so special. however, the root beer far behind and really does look special and feel amazing

Surely they won't discontinue it just cause it's an 'upsidedown' gmt. It's one of the most sought after model in their catalogue. My prediction is they'll release more lefty models in the future after the hype of this one and since that there aren't many options in the market. Just grey dealers spreading rumours again to drive prices up 😂

@Experienceitwithadam yeah exactly, those reverse machining could be used for future lefty models. Kinda stupid for them to build/invest on special machines just to build one lefty model for 2-3 years haha. Calling it now, new LHD sub next year 😂
