    Nice Turkey Tower! I like the aluminum paint. I was worried about two things: 1) Not much ventilation for the summer months and 2) The cracks in the door seem kind of big. Are you planning on putting chicken wire on it (and where the roof line meets the side walls)?

      Try using apple cider vinegar and a tad of sugar in a small jar, then cover with Saran Wrap . Punch tiny holes in the wrap and leave it out. They will be so attracted to the scent, they will try to drink and fall in, and because the holes are small they can’t get out. Even better, small plastic condiment containers with lids. When you poke the plastic for the holes, they cannot crawl out due to the hard plaster poking down into the container. This will catch hundreds of them. Good luck 🤞 🇨🇦

Not with all of those trees around there… without something solid, the rats will always find a way to get through… there is a wire flooring mesh that could be used but those rats could bite through the wire depending on the thickness of it…the only thing to truly keep them from coming up through the floor like that is to make it solid… but I know you will figure it out :)

    Can you explain why you didn't renovate the Turk's existing coop? For example, to put a dense net on the floor and walls from which the mice/rats come out? And regarding the new coop. Mice and rats know how to climb to any height necessary and they can shrink and enter the coop through the gap in the metal in the roof.

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The gap is 3/4” only a small baby rat could fit, I can always put wire in the ventilation gaps if I need to. I was planning on building the turkeys their own house anyway so because this happened I did it right away. Seems like I need to put hardware cloth on the ground if the entire chicken house. The baby birds are protected in wire but these two are fairly big already almost the size of a chicken so I’m surprised a rat could kill it. Maybe the rat doesn’t kill chickens because of the roosters whereas the two turkeys were alone. I’ll figure it out though 😉
