We're building infrastructure to accomodate future growth such as barns, duck house, 7 coop chicken house, water hydrants, planting an orchard, building a garden etc. Chickens, ducks, geese, mini pigs, rabbits, a bunch of barn cats and two old english sheepdogs make up our team here at the farm. Please follow along on our journey of transforming this place into something special.

See me here holding my breath waiting to see the ducks go in the pond, and shouting 'take a couple up Chad and put them in and the rest will follow' 😂😂 Maybe put their old water baths near to the edge of the pond and that will help them to find it?
Yes and buy a "FAKE" plastic duck..... let it stay in the water pond.

The ducks are being cautious. One laid an egg, because anxious. They need coaxing and will eventually go in.

I really love your creativity and willingness to try and do all these amazing things. I never comment but I found your videos recently and I’ve really enjoyed your channel. Everything is scare to critters until they learn it's ok. Don't force it. Maybe give them just a few of their tubs back and every couple of days move them closer to the pond and remove one until your real close to the pond. Maybe then they'll figure it out. It has turned out very nice, I'm loving it!!! Be patient it will happen 🌞😊

The ducks will appreciate a ramp. Also if you ever have goslings they won't be able to get in and out of the water easy.

If you notice wild ducks can’t leave a lake until the lake is to so many feet in front of them. They can’t lift themselves up to fly. You might want to make a lower area for the duck to walk up and down into the water. Ducks realize they can’t get out of the pond. Some could drown. Ducks have shorter legs than your geese. Place flat stones and pea gravel around pond 5 or 6 ft. away from the water. Then the ducks and geese will keep the water clean and can get in or out. I would check with local wildlife rehabs around your area. They can tell you what to add.😊😊
You might place a small ramp in and out of the pond and cover all of the plastic with the extra dirt and landscaping materials….you did a GREAT JOB building this pond… I’m impressed!

@@HiddenSpringFarm I cannot wait to see that pond, fully landscaped, and all of the water fowl enjoying it… I just hope that the geese don’t take it completely over and keep the ducks from being able to get into it… That would be really, really bad… Of course you could always build another one on the other side of all the trees ha ha ha ha ha
@@ZippedUpKitz I’ve noticed already that if I let them all out at the same time the geese go in first and the ducks wait until the geese are done. But I’ve also seen a few ducks swimming then a goose come in and the ducks just continue swimming. I’ll get some great footage either way though.

Boxwood is toxic to ducks woll grow about 6 feet round or more.

I have noticed that our ducks can’t go up steps or jump up on rocks. The person who commented saying to put in a ramp, that’s a good idea 😊
On the one side I laid flat stones almost in the water I think it’s about 2” so they can get out easily. Although the ducks can always flutter to get out too.
Well done BUD😛 Leave the ducks alone. They will go in the water when ready. No NETS. Remember what happened the last time you used a net on an animal. BUBBLES hates your GUTS 😱😱😱😱😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣 Have a good one

Add P gravel to the bottom of the pond and around the edges. It should help P gravel. Tiny gravel. It might throw some lava rocks and some other interesting rocks around it as well in the bottom and around the sides.

Looks really great! Love the water fall! 😊 Another benefit is that situating the pond next to the vegetable garden will improve the micro climate in the garden. The water holds the varmth from the day in the night.
I didn’t think about the warmth I only thought of the fertile water for the garden 😄
Maybe a trail of food leading to the pond? Gosh, I am surprised they didn't go for it yet. They will. The geese looked so happy though swimming in a circle together. So sweet! Looks great too.

If you had seen my goofy looking grin the entire time watching the geese in the pond, you would know this video is not a failure. The ducks will catch on eventually. I just love watching the duck parade going to and from their coop! You did a WONDERFUL job on the pond. It is beautiful!
No failures here, it’s just some of my odd humour. The ducks tested out the pond the next day. Always just trying to make entertaining videos to catch that algorithm 😆

You can either funnel them in with barriers on both sides or move one of their old pools right up against the pond and fill it up. They'll get figure it out. You did a great job!!

The pond looks fabulous with the border of flat rocks and the plants will fill in nicely. If you can grab a couple of ducks from their pen in the morning (especially if it’s still a little dark) you could plop them in and hopefully get the others to follow. You might want to pile some rocks against the edges inside the water so the ducks can push-off and up. -and for babies. Also - if you put some low fencing next to the black liner they can’t get out at that location. I had ducks for 20 years. 👏🏻🥳💚
Our garden centres get going mid May so we’ll check out what we can do plants wise. Gonna be fun and hopefully make some interesting camera shots.

Use fencing to make a sort of funnel/path that goes directly to the pond, maybe! 🦆

I put flat rocks on the one side as level with the water as I can get it. They can flutter out too I’ve seen it.
maybe use one of those decoy ducks hunters use? if you have it, then they might try it? dunno looks good, maybe more gravel on the sides? I kinda worry the ducks and geese get stuck in those nets, I hope not, but yeah well done, sorry the ladies are not interested yet, maybe they prefer to take dust baths

I thought for sure they would go in after a few hours, but nope. They’ve all been in now so it’s all good.
The only thing that could make that better is some minnows in there it would be a duck and geese Paradise but it already is really nice you did a great job

Chad, I love that the geese went in! The ducks, however might be worried about the depth. It could be they need more time watching the geese and gauging whether it’s safe for them. Maybe some stones placed like stairs under the water? I think their curiosity will eventually lead them in. Love the idea of some boxwoods to beautify. Great job and wishing you luck. Think positively.
I think they just needed a day to figure it out cause the next day they were having a blast
I had the same issue with mine. And like you, I also had water in small pans. I ended up putting their water containers right next to the pond. Our ducks eventually moved to the pond. Cheers

I think you need some sort of ramp that goes into the pond. Some animals that may fall in won't be able to get out the way the geese can. Goslings and ducklings probably won't be able to get out either, or struggle at the very least. Otherwise, it's looking good! As for the ducks, they'll get the idea eventually I'm sure.
Well I put those flat type stones on the one side that makes it about 2 inches above the water, that’ll be fine for the birds I can always lay a log in there for other critters to escape.
Ducks hate change
Takes a few days to adjust to anything new
Try putting one of their water dishes closer to it
Once they realize what it is you will struggle to get them out 😊
A few viewers have suggested that, I don’t know why I didn’t think of it but it seems logical

Goodmorning from Lethbridge! I have a suggestion: if you put 1 or 2 of the little swim bins right at the waters edge, they will go in. Then a few will fall out into the pond. They realize it is the same thing, only better, then the rest will follow. You could also throw a couple of the alpha ducks in. That might be quicker...
P.S. The whistle music is quite cute and for some reason "addictive" to listen to!
I did that the following day and it seemed to help. Ducks are very skittish and very habitual.
It’s going to be soooo beautiful when landscaped and grassed. The best part is going to be You and Darlin gardening with that gorgeous sound of the 💦 in the background 😘

That pond looks amazing.. I think the ducks were actually waiting to go in the little pools but they were empty, they are so used to the pools they have no clue they can go in the pond. eventually they will and they will love it.

I agree with you on covering up the mud dirt part and putting grass or pebbles or giant rocks around that pond.
There will be a lot less erosion.
Just give it time everything will fall in place.

We enticed our ducks with a handful of peas, but its not something they can have too much of too often - due to the high niacin content.
maybe a trail of peas leading into the pool and drop some into the water for them to dive out. They loved the frozen peas on hot days, my wife compared it to giving kids ice lollies on hot summers days.
You may try to disable the pump and see if ducks like it more. Some animals don't like the noise of running water, bc they need to hear predators moving on them.

Exactly, gotta do something on that side either stones or stumps. I’m running out of stones so maybe a combo of both.
All I can say is oh my how beautiful your pond is, and the geese paddling in it is like a postcard. You have done an amazing job, naughty ducks will go in next time, fingers crossed. I may of picked one up and put him or her in, but that’s just me.. Thank you again for sharing, just so beautiful 😻
I would have but then I’d have to get the net and chase them down, I decided to be patient instead. They found it the next day, it’ll be in next weeks episode.
Set their little tubs close to the pond and leave them there. They should check them out and maybe see the pond water??
I did that the next day, seemed to work.
Try placing the little tubs next to the pond and they will see that it's safe
