Wrist Manipulations and Cavaliers for Self-Defense | There Are Better Options

  • So about those wrist manipulations and cavaliers... I recognize this could upset a lot of people, but the fact of the matter is they're just not that great --- or at least as good as the other options available to you. When defending an edged weapon there are about 435932 things that need to happen before I would do the cavalier. Control of the weapon arm, 2on1, a LOT of striking...the cavalier (wrist lock) should be the very last thing that you do IF you even need to do it.

Where my cavalier lovers at? 😂 Again, they've gotta be used at the right moment, after LOTS of striking, and in the right context. Even then, I believe that there are better self-defense options.
Have you seen my latest video in our "Calisthenics for Martial Arts" series? You probably should:

I typed cavaliers on the search bar and I'm only getting videos about basketball.

"Cavaliers" Not good 👏🏻🤣. The worst thing is that it is study material at graduate level 1 in some krav maga schools. Outside that with stress the fine motor skills disappear. At Sparring I once found something like a cow's foot of bjj .But too dangerous with a knife ... Brutal video 👏🏻💪🇨🇱🤝

Yeah I'd like to try it with some harder striking allowed as I think that would make them more plausible, but that's not quite as fun to test haha.

I never liked training with joint manipulations anyway. After an hour long class doing cavaliers I feel like I have arthritis.
