👋 Thanks for watching. Don't forget to watch my FREE TRAINING (hosted by Kaitlyn Davidson) - HOW TO GO FROM STRUGGLING TO LEARN PIANO TO PLAYING YOUR FAVORITE SONGS (IN AS LITTLE AS A FEW MONTHS) WITHOUT OVERWHELM, CHILDREN'S MUSIC, AND UNNECESSARY MUSIC THEORY www.try.piano.ly/free-training
My favorite is the Beatles song, "Here, There and Everywhere." It shifts via an F7 chord (a ♭VII in the old G key and a V7 in the new B♭ key) to a I-vi-ii (B♭-Gm-Cm) chord progression in B♭ major. It then shifts again via a D7 chord (a III7 in the old B♭ key and a V7 in the new Gm key) to G minor where it goes through a i-iv (Gm-Cm chord) progression. To me, it's just so awesome sounding.
I love anything that climbs like Hallelujah or leading an emotional journey like Adagio by Laura Fabian. Thank you so much for these videos, you are very motivating!
I've watched many piano tutorials, and this is the first time I've seen these concepts presented, especially the Roman numerals. Thank you for sharing this so clearly! And among my favorite piano pieces is "Melody of the Night" by Jin Shi. 🎶
I never subscribe to anything. But in this case, it would be rude not to. Clear instruction....stuff I can use straight away....giving chords direction and emotion is brilliant. Got enough to be going on with. Thank you. Will keep you posted. Paul. PS......just started learning by wanting to play John Legend's 'All of me" and that's the song which I choose for my favourite chord progression. Thanks again. Paul.
G Em C D ( I-VI-IV-V) if played in key G major, from the song "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran, for now have been hooked on to playing these. Love these chord progressions very much. I have loved tons of them, many many and many. One more is Bm- G- D- A for a Hindi Bollywood song. I also like: Spanish sounding Bm- A- G- F#, just sounds too good🎵🎶🎹
My favorite progression is probably the I III IV iv. It’s the progression from Radiohead’s Creep and Olivia Rodrigo’s Vampire. It uses chords not found in standard major keys though (major three and minor four)!
Thank you!❤ I adore the chord progression of "Someone like you" by Adele ( not lyrics), I play it just with arpeggios and chord's inversions. Thank you again ❤!
Thanks for your very good videos...Umm okay, the roman numbers - no problem, BUT that is a real mindf+++ - I am writing small letters next to those roman numbers because it's easier to see what that chord is, rather than translating visually each time....But um, I guess in time my brain will make the switch for me...Cheers!
We Used To Know chord progression by Jethro Tull. Very similar to Hotel California. SUSPICIOUSLY similarly considering The Eagles used to open for Jethro Tull before they made it big 😉 Either way I like the chord progression Em B D A C G F# B
At 5:05 I am missing the mention of one minor chord. 2, 3, and 4 are all minor, I heard mention earlier in the video. In this recap the 3 cord is suddenly not mentioned anymore
I am convinced listening your lectures. I myself a guitar teacher. Steel and Spanish guitar both I teach. You are beautiful and you lectures are more beautiful and interesting. Easy to understand ❤ --Prince moinuddin Steel guitar It is my youtube Thank you 💐🇧🇩
The 2, 3, 6 and 7 chords CAN be written in lower case letters but they don't need to be. In fact this is American style. Old school music academies expect from their students that they know that the 2, 3, and 6 chords are minor, and 7 is diminished. No need to change the notation. II - V - I - VII will sound the same as ii - V - I - vii.
Hey Kaitlyn Davidson .. i am Jones D. From India. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge through this video. it means a lot to me . i have a strong desire to learn to play piano. Do u offer any video courses so that I can learn it on my own free time ... will that be affordable for me? as I am from India
Because when you create chords from a major scale by using the first, third and fifth intervals starting on each note of the scale and using only notes from that scale (known as harmonizing the scale), these are the resulting chords. In a major scale it is always I major, ii minor, iii minor, IV major, V major, vi minor, vii diminished. Due to the pattern of notes (intervals) that exists in any major scale, these chord qualities are the same for all keys.
Very nice, but u better not use diminish chord without explanation about the use of it which is not totally wrong here. However the progression needs to be finished here. U need to close it once open. It’s going nowhere here.

Ur an amazing teacher Kaitlyn

There are no words to describe the importance of this video. It summed up months of education for me in five minutes ❤
I’ve been playing music and singing for years and never knew this… thank you!!
Nowhere else have I found this so clearly explained. I look forward to your next lessons.
Thank you so much! Finally , someone who can explain things clearly. I really appreciate this video. I'll be following more of your videos now :)
What a friend we have in Jesus
You're a really good teacher! Thanks for this!
This is the info I needed to take my piano skills to the next level. Thanks a lot.
Beginners: don’t even bother with the vii diminished chord. Just use the 3 major and 3 minor chords in each key. That’s all you need to start with.
Heart and Soul!!
My favorite is the Beatles song, "Here, There and Everywhere." It shifts via an F7 chord (a ♭VII in the old G key and a V7 in the new B♭ key) to a I-vi-ii (B♭-Gm-Cm) chord progression in B♭ major. I enjoyed the video but where does the iii fit in? In C major this would be E minor, right? Is it always a minor?
After upload, I realized I did not mention iii. 😭
Yes, iii is minor!!
Oh thank you for asking and replying @pianoly , I thought I was going crazy 😂😂
Great job Kaitlyn
Thank you and thanks for watching!

They explained in the comments that three is also minor, they just forgot to mention it in that one section of the video. Hope that helps!
@awkwardukulele6077 thank you. yes that's why I mentioned. Is a small omission but some may be left confused
I am convinced listening your lectures. I myself a guitar teacher.

What about Em (III). Noticeable by not been mentioned in the key of Cmajor.
Eagles Hotel California or Jethro Tull We Used to Know
Good
Daisy Jane by America has a nice chord progression. Try it
Kindly tell relevance of left hand.. Which all key tht we have to press..

When to choose 7th, 9th or any extended chords instead of standard major/minor ones?
How do I pick or select the right key of the song I want to play to ???
Nice...next time add a follow up song say "Let it Be".... by the Beatles to tie it all together.
Please which are you playing
Parabéns canal vai crescer muito em inscritos e laiks

Why did you skip chord iii @5:05 which is also a minor, and never mentioned it again
@5:08 is iii not a minor cord?
I realized it after the video was done that I forgot iii in the moment because it’s rarely used. But yes, iii is a minor chord.
Good catch. Was wondering the same thing
@@pianolyhad wondered the same thing at the time 😂
This is a MUST watch for any aspiring pianist (or guitarist) to watch.
