I have this CD (where the date of the Pleyel piano on the cover is given correctly as 1873) and love it! A perfect match of pianist and instrument, and an interpretation outstanding for its lyrical warmth, effervescence and feeling of spontaneity. Also, I believe the fairly swift tempi are very much in line with Debussy's metronome markings (and piano rolls), and make a welcome change from the later 20th century tendency to slow things down. This is a performance that leaves me smiling every time I hear it. Brava, Ms. Sasaki! 🙂
This is the greatest most beautiful classical piano music I've ever heard and this is a fantastic interpretation. My favourite interpretation is by Samson François it's just a little more exciting and unpredictable than this one.

At last, Debussy on a period piano!
Alexander Melnikov recorded a fine version of Book 2 on an Erard (ca. 1885) for Harmonia Mundi. Recommended. :)
