I am from a family of humble means. In the middle 1960's my parents found a way for me to have piano lessons from a beautiful lady who had studied at the Sorbonne. This was the first piece she introduced me to in my first year. She would give my lesson and then would play a piece, sitting in huge antique wicker chairs with floral chintz pillows, the sun shining through the organza sheer draperies of the many windows of her solarium/studio. I loved Miss Goldie Shiflet and rhank God for the sacrifices my parents made to give me that love of a culture unlike that of where I originated.

I started taking piano lessons when I was eight. Somehow, when I was about 10, I heard Clair de Lune, maybe on TV. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard, and it was completely unlike anything I'd ever heard. I went to my piano teacher and told her I wanted to learn it. She probably thought I was crazy, but she indulged me. Of course, I had no idea what I was doing and not being a prodigy, i couldn't do it justice. But it still gives me pleasure that I had enough discernment at least to pluck it out from all the other music I was hearing and that I was the kind of kid who could be touched by it. Thanks for posting this compilation. I listen to it every day.

Well said 👏👏 I actually first heard this from a BTS mv I thought wow what is that melody & who composed this beautiful piece of music.. A neighbour of mine said would you like to come down and help me with the horses one day, I of course with no hesitation said yes! As we walked down to the stables where her horse was she was telling me all about her horse and she said he a lovley horse well mannered, a gentleman.. but she said it’s only quirk is, if that’s what you’d like to call it is.. it hates being alone. More than other horses. so she puts Debussy on to calm him down before she leaves..and it soothes him every time…I also noticed the song while she was playing it in the stable and I felt safe despite not knowing this women for long. I knew I found a person to trust the universe has ways of communicating in fascinating ways. From that moment on I knew I felt at home. His music always finds you in times of darkness & loneliness. 🐴🌌🎶🎹 R.I.P. Thank-you for sharing this wonderful gift with the 🌍

120 years old. Older than any man or woman who has ever lived. Timeless is exceptional. To withstand the test of time. There really is something miraculous in that I don't believe will ever be achieved again. It reminds me of Vanilla sky. I'm sure many people believe they connect with it, cheer and pronounce ridiculous theories or ideas. Beauty, that lasts 120 years in my opinion, cannot be drawn in negativity. It's remarkable.

This beautiful heartfelt music has awakened something in me to start playing again. I miss the full soul feeling it brought. My piano sits lonely in my living room. I remember my piano teacher from long ago. An elderly neighborhood gentleman from Germany--Mr. Eric Lemke. We called him Opa. He played piano, violin, clarinet, oboe, cello. He always wore a suit when teaching. The smells of Oma's cooking were ever present during lessons. Opa gave the best imported chocolate candies during piano lessons. The neighborhood kids loved him dearly! He was a sweet kind man. I think of him and his beautifully landscaped yard often.

Debussy’s music is ephemeral and very romantic. I heard the music Clair de lune in the movie “ Ocean’s eleven.” and loved very much but didn’t know who is a composer. One time I heard it on radio classic channel and learned that Debussy is a composer, I am playing piano and when I was learning in musical school long time ago I was playing Debussy. Now I am learning to play Clair de Lune, almost done , the last two pages remains to play fluently.

What a lovely Sunday morning I've had. Claude Debussy is the pleasant joy that brought it all together, so beautiful, so soothing, peaceful. I discovered Debussy in a different kind of way. You may remember that Jack Horkheimer ("Keep Looking Up") called on Debussy and his Arabesque No. 1 to color his brief yet wonderful show on astronomy. I loved the music immediately. I did not know it's origin. I found out and discovered another wonderful universe of pleasure. Thanks Jack. God Bless Claude...

I discovered classic music when I was 8 or 9 years old; I was in the house of a cousin of my mother and, by chance, I found a disk forgotten in the shelf... I asked to put the disk in the fonograph and it was Tchaikovsky's Concert No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra... I felt a deep shiver when I heard the first chords of the work and I listened to it in its entirety, without getting tired... It was unforgettable!

As familiar as Debussy's music has become to me over the years, there is a freshness, an almost luminescence to his compositions that never fades. The natural flow of his melodies and their tempos sweeps over the consciousness like waves in a calm sea, or the intermittent clouds high in the sky. As far as my favorite piece, it depends on the day, and my mood, but I have always been fascinated by the mystery and colors of "The engulfed Cathedral". Not sure why, as it is not the most cheerful piece in this listing, but it haunts me still.

This song comforted me as I dealt with the pain of losing the love of my life.
