all are great, but Clair de lune is by far the best for me. I love to play it.
@@tomaszczapiewski3359 Same opinion here, but unfortunately I don't play piano or any instrument except bugle (which isn't a real one). But maybe for the end of my happy days I would learn piano and those lovely songs !
@@camisfr wish you good luck and all the best :) at least you have a great taste in music :) PS: they are not songs, but pieces ;) have a nice evening.
I love Clair de Lune. I have to say it's my favorite, not just of DeBussy's, but maybe of all piano pieces.
❤
I am from a family of humble means. In the middle 1960's my parents found a way for me to have piano lessons from a beautiful lady who had studied at the Sorbonne. This was the first piece she introduced me to in my first year. She would give my lesson and then would play a piece, sitting in huge antique wicker chairs with floral chintz pillows, the sun shining through the organza sheer draperies of the many windows of her solarium/studio. I loved Miss Goldie Shiflet and rhank God for the sacrifices my parents made to give me that love of a culture unlike that of where I originated.
Man, I dream about that kind of scenario. That would be perfect. Unfortunately, the world is too cruel these days, and lacks that kind of quality.
I enjoyed reading this. ❤
... and thank you în turn for sharing the intricacies of this your cultural/ spiritual moment of initiation. In ways oftentimes unbeknownst to us, to a vast majority of us, these things change us to the core, open us up to fascinating as surprising perceptions and understandings of life as it surrounds us.
And in cases such as own one, that i know, the realization of it came so unbelievably late in life, I'll have to say...
Enjoy the blessings, dare I wish you.
I teared up reading your comment
Beautiful comment!
My mother's dear sister, my Aunt Ky - for many years, paid for my seat in the audience for our local symphony productions. We attended together. Starting in my late 30's for about 15 years, I gained a knowledge of symphony music. What an amazing education that was for me and in mid life!
Clair de Lune takes me back to Normandy in the 50s & early 60s when I was was young, walking back along a country road late at night with my Grandparents, from a visit to my family in the next village, the moon was our guiding light. Such happy memories. Such a sublime piece
Wow, thats quite a testimony, to me Aznavour’s La boheme takes me back to the 40’s in Belgium and France during the war…. The funny thing is that nor the song exists that time nor I was there…..past lives reminisce?
I have just listened to La Boheme by Charles Aznavour on TH-cam, I must confess that I hadn't heard it for many years. Thank you for mentioning it in your reply, I can see how it would have taken you back to past times. Wonderful song. @@iuwt10
@@iuwt10 . Same. The song takes me back to a peaceful evening in Gettysburg right after the civil war. Nothing like nostalgia.
I don't doubt you were there....time is so fleeting....life is brief.
@poigmhahon I can verify he was there at Gettysburg, as I was also. But, only because the delorian took a wrong turn. Doc Brown accidentally landed on some guy, Robert E. Lee, causing him to retreat with his army... Anyways, it was probably not important...
My brother in law died today and this beautiful music is a balm for my grieving heart....
So sorry for your loss. His soul will live forever. Love from Los Angeles
So sorry for your loss. May all the lovely memories of him bring your family comfort.
He is with God , and i hope you will stay strong . ❤
sorry for your loss.
So sorry for yr Loss
120 years old. Older than any man or woman who has ever lived. Timeless is exceptional. To withstand the test of time. There really is something miraculous in that I don't believe will ever be achieved again. It reminds me of Vanilla sky. I'm sure many people believe they connect with it, cheer and pronounce ridiculous theories or ideas. Beauty, that lasts 120 years in my opinion, cannot be drawn in negativity. It's remarkable.
Don't overthink it.
Just enjoy timeless music of the masters.
Boia, I will overthink it because his name surprisingly did not age well. De Bussy. Hehehehehehe
I started taking piano lessons when I was eight. Somehow, when I was about 10, I heard Clair de Lune, maybe on TV. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard, and it was completely unlike anything I'd ever heard. I went to my piano teacher and told her I wanted to learn it. She probably thought I was crazy, but she indulged me. Of course, I had no idea what I was doing and not being a prodigy, i couldn't do it justice. But it still gives me pleasure that I had enough discernment at least to pluck it out from all the other music I was hearing and that I was the kind of kid who could be touched by it. Thanks for posting this compilation. I listen to it every day.
That's awesome! Loved hearing your story, thanks for sharing and listening!

"Somehow, when I was about 10, I heard Clair de Lune, maybe on TV. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard, and it was completely unlike anything I'd ever heard."
While reading this I had tears in my eyes. I feel completely the same.
That happened to me by chance coming across my aunt’s George Szell Cleveland Orchestra record of Beethoven Symphony #5 and maybe 6 too. I was 11 and bored. I lay down next to big speakers from the 70s. It was love at first note. I was like WHAT IS THIS! I still love those 2 symphonies above all others. This Debussy is the music of the heavens ☺️

What I think about this gentleman is that he always seems to show up at the perfect time right when needed and fills the void of where loneliness would be while communicating effectively through it all. This music makes me not worry about a good nights rest or the end of things because it is so gentle, serene, and calming, euphoric and blissful, peaceful; Truly this is a masterpiece.
I love De Bussy
Each piece by Debussy can be compared to an impressionist canvas of that period, the liquefied colors, the pens that fade like the chords, a sense of the infinite in another dimension that take us to a world of sounds and colors never seen where travel the soul and the mind.... thanks for the post!!!!
Yes these are the most perfect beautiful words to describe such an amazing emotional work of musical art 🖼️
He was such a great master of the piano, creating a sound so different from other composers.
He made the piano sound like floating notes instead of it being a percussive instrument. A poet of the piano like Chopin was.
Indeed... Thank you for the depth and clarity of your thought ✨️
He defines melody at least for me.

I used to listen to classical music from a local radio station when I was a kid, I have always loved Debussy. And much later his music was put with a Movie called Frankie and Johnny. I like it when classical beauty is put with movies. This helps keep this music alive with each generation.
Well said; I absolutely agree.
It seems the younger generation doesn’t have a taste for it. My father inspired me to listen to it. It’s heartfelt and I love listening to it in memory of him and I love it. This piece makes me very happy like when times were simpler and life was not so busy in the world. My dad was born the year of the Great Depression 1929-2012. How I miss him and sharing our love of classical music

Debussy’s music is ephemeral and very romantic. I heard the music Clair de lune in the movie “ Ocean’s eleven.” and loved very much but didn’t know who is a composer. One time I heard it on radio classic channel and learned that Debussy is a composer, I am playing piano and when I was learning in musical school long time ago I was playing Debussy. Now I am learning to play Clair de Lune, almost done , the last two pages remains to play fluently.
Want to learn it as well although have never played the piano
The best to you, 🎉 you will be wonderful .🎉😊
What a lovely way to start the morning. Thank you for uploading.
I have a very deep, distant memory of this song, and am not sure why. It touches my soul. Every time I hear it, I get chills, feel a deep sadness and am brought to tears. So beautiful and moving...
Clair de lune at the very beginning is mesmerizing
Debussy's piano compositions are glorious and sublime 🎹❤💝🥰❤
Claude Debussy and Frederic Chopin will always be my two favorite classical musicians. I love them both, and I am convinced that they are in heaven resting peacefully with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ our Lord and savior. I listen to both of them every day at work and at night to put me to deep meditation and sleep.
When studying, always finish with Debussy

Such beautiful children that the world often doesn’t understand. Some children are sent to change the world in ways we may not be able to recognize but if you pay close attention their lights radiate and shine ✨ a light on what needs attention in the world.
They have the ability to hold soo soo very much beauty, and live and breathe making the world a better place for all.
Too often these lives are shut down by ignorance, neglect, too many reasons.

My favourite piece is La fille aux cheveux de lin (the girl with linen hair) - it is so beautiful.
Debussy has long been a favorite of mine . Classical music is just so much better than modern “ anything “ . My mother introduced me to Classical music when I was young, I just caught on quick . But also it was played in the dance studio where she took ballet classes. I still love it !
As a wise man once said:
"Always start with Debussy and finish on the Bach"
lmao bro
Haha😂
A very wise man indeed 😊
Did he say why? Surely it's a matter of choice.
Never forget to Handel it correctly and go Chopin after
Perfection. Music heals my soul.
Pablo Almiron plays Debussy like a God❤
Normally I dislike classical piano pieces. But Debussy had a beautiful way to weave the notes together. I'll never forget hearing Clair de Lune for the first time in Ocean's 11 when I was a kid. Such a relaxing piece.
Well this has to change then. If you like this, it means that your ear is at least sensible to some degree to classical sonorities. You just need some good pieces easy to like to get started. Try Brahms intermezzo op 118 no2, or Pletnev arrangement of Pas de deux from the nutcracker suit. I'm sure you'll like them !
Debussy had his God-given gift he shared to every soul; timeless & unbound thru generations. Peace & love til the last drop of the note.

What a lovely Sunday morning I've had. Claude Debussy is the pleasant joy that brought it all together, so beautiful, so soothing, peaceful. I discovered Debussy in a different kind of way. You may remember that Jack Horkheimer ("Keep Looking Up") called on Debussy and his Arabesque No. 1 to color his brief yet wonderful show on astronomy. I loved the music immediately. I did not know it's origin. I found out and discovered another wonderful universe of pleasure. Thanks Jack. God Bless Claude...
