Today I am here to write this message to remind me that my Father on the 25th of March died of Covid 19, he was 50 years old and was a self-taught musician and had the gift of music. his profession was a maintenance technician and worked in engineering at Pfizer in Brazil. My father really liked this song and playing it. He played Violin, Trumpet, Flute, Tuba, Euphonium. My biggest dream was to see him recover so that we can play hymns from our church and also maybe play this very beautiful work by Debussy. Whenever I hear this work, I will remember my Father and how he liked it. Father, in heaven we will find ourselves. Sorry for the outburst.
Out standing . Just beautiful music. Some slower tracks make me cry. Every time. The power of those tracks. De bussy a great composer. Most Definitely.
Debussy’s music is comfortable to the ear and to the mind and to the soul This splendor of words cannot attach it The diversity of Debussy is immeasurable The world of Debussy is intriguing and captivating
Just now purchased the CD, after listening here first. Also, very interesting to learn that Debussy, who was terminally ill with colon cancer, originally titled the cello sonata "Pierrot faché avec la lune." What a sense of humor, even when dying! Such an extraordinary man!

This compilation is terrific. Can not help not to comment how wonderful the performance of the fourth movement of the piano trio. It does not represent impressionist Debussy at all but more likely Brahms or other romantic composers. It is so sweet, full of emotion and creates goosebumps moment. It is hard to fathom an 18 year old composer could write such a mature complex composition. It is very pity that Debussy did not write many compositions like this.
Debussy is one of the most brilliant composers! I LOVE that Intermezzo! So satisfying to the ears, with the "pop" of "zing" (you know what I mean) and that beautiful air of mystery and passion hidden. (Edit) I also love how music can say so many things words can't. Felix Mendelssohn once said, "The thoughts that are expressed to me by the music I love are not too indefinite to be put in the words, but on the contrary too definite". I think what he was getting at was that those feelings we can't put into words are too real and relatable to explain in words, rather than feelings that are too abstract and false.
Music is more fundamental than words. It goes directly into our brains without translation. (Incidentally the most effective poetry relies on the musicality of the words rather than their literal meaning).
Esta sonata de Debussy trio cello, violin y extraordinario piano. Lo maximo para deleitarnos en estos momentos de crisis. Any way. Esto lo vamos a superar pronto.
I first heard the cello sonata on a CD by Julian Lloyd Webber, a fine interpretation to have in the back of the mind while listening to other readings. Debussy is justly famous for his orchestral works, but his songs and chamber music are full of expressive vitality
What an innovator, the masterful Claude Debussy; melodies immortal for surpassing beauty and emotion. His ignominious death and entombment fortunately did not foreshadow ultimate recognition and status among the great luminaries of music.
Debussy is more than a reflection of an era. It is a phantom asteroid who returns to set his sights on sound art. A decadent wave laden with paradoxes from which obscurantism and the irrational escape, hypnotic factors defying vulnerable souls in search of the absolute. This sound architecture is a short tunnel that leads to light.
"Circe" speaks -- beautiful comment. Poetry that knows how to trope even the most reductive physics approaches the asymptote of the real with more illuminating power than doctrines which from impotent fear would proscribe poetry in the name of the absolute -- as shafts of unseen solar energy penetrating the magnetosphere provoke auroras to dance a flamenco over the Northern sky, or meteors suddenly blazing out of the dark with fire & light as they're burned wholly away, so the Phoenix of Poetry flaming through all the arts illuminates & ignites the receptive mind generation after generation....
Thank you so much for this. It is excellent, refined and deep, suggestive and enticing. it is true one can work while listening, but every now and then one stops everything to let the music enter the heart.
Great compositions, and the arrangements are very good as well! The playing here is beyond my expectations, have been listening to this recording for days on end now!

Quite fabulous collection. Very special performances of these pieces, also - something (to my ear) more probing & reflective, without losing any simple joy or energy, than I recall from other interpretations of Debussy, in general, & of these works, in particular. Interesting accompanying insights in the notes, too - food for thought adds to our (at least, my) appreciation. Do we know the painting? It is a spot on visual accent for the music, suggesting a wry comment on an earlier period's idealizations. BC is unique.
