  • Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in 1977 in Sheffield. Since 1992, the band has consisted of Joe Elliott (lead vocals), Rick Savage (bass, backing vocals), Rick Allen (drums, backing vocals), Phil Collen (guitars, backing vocals), and Vivian Campbell (guitars, backing vocals). They established themselves as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement of the early 1980s.
The band's greatest commercial success came between the early 1980s and the early 1990s. Their first album, 1980's On Through the Night, reached the Top 15 in the UK but received little notice elsewhere. Their second album, 1981's High 'n' Dry, was produced by Mutt Lange, who helped them begin to define their melodic, hard rock style, and the album's most popular track "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" became one of the first rock videos played on MTV in 1982, but the album only reached the Top 30 and 40 in the UK and US. Def Leppard's next studio album, Pyromania, was released in January 1983, with "Photograph" and "Rock of Ages" both topping the US Rock Tracks chart and reaching the Top 20 of the Hot 100. Reaching No. 2 on the US album chart, Pyromania was certified Diamond in the US and 7x platinum in Canada and reached the Top 20 in the UK but did not sell much elsewhere.

As a person with a disability myself (spina bifida) I always loved the band's reaction to Rick losing his arm, how they said it was up to Rick to decide whether or not he could still do his thing and it wasnt their decision, it happens a lot that people's reaction to a disabled person is "oh you can't do that, you just sit there and be a good boy" we need more people with the Def leppard attitude.

Def Leppard has continued to evolve into one of the greatest bands. They’ve never forgotten where they came from which has made them iconic!

I’ve recently re-discovered Euphoria, and it’s a REALLY good album! In fact, one of my favorites! Sadly it didn’t get the attention it deserved.

Euphoria is so underrated. Songs like paper sun and day after day, are amazing songs

I remember seeing this interview, it was originally aired as part of their Planet Rock Profiles episode back in 1999 around or just before Euphoria was released

Go figure, lol! I forget that ladies look at bands a little different than dudes. It is our dream though, to have the girls thinking your hot. Makes sense.

I really never enjoyed the music scene of the 90s so much. There were certainly some huge highs, like Sammy Hagar and VH. I did not dig the grunge scene because they kind of ruined the mysterious, great rock era. A lot of garbage, mocking the rockstar genre. I miss the 80’s happy, party lifestyle.
