Love these guys. Joe Elliott is so humble and such a decent guy. I really admire the way the band stood by their drummer when he lost his arm in that awful accident; they waited for him to come back and encouraged him to do so when the doctors thought it was a pipe dream. They also stood behind Steve through his substance abuse. Great guys.

I used to be in radio biz. Met all the 80s bands backstage. Joe Elliott/Def Lep were highly memorable as the nicest/best backstage experience. The band had dinner for the guests -- and Joe was literally running around like a waiter. It was Hysteria tour and they were biggest band at the time. @ghost mall Motley Crue look particularly silly, because they were supposed to be done 5-6 years ago. Vince Neil is in terrible shape and cannot sing live. The band can still play, but if you're going command that kind of money, you'd better be top notch. Genesis tickets to their Birmingham reunion show averaged $900 and Phil Collins is a shadow of his former self. It was really sad.

How about Joe knowing and listening to Foo Fighters to the extent he listened to their new album noting the song "Waiting for War" is an all-time top 100 song to him?? Given for Joe's longevity in the industry, ridiculous range of influences..... from Bowie, Slade, Queen, Mott the Hopple, Rod Stewart, Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, T-Rex, Sweet, and all the bands he grew up lisetning to, playing with/alongside over 40+ years, etc. that is incredible compliment to the Dave and the Foo Fighters. That wasn't gratuitous pandering to Grohl in any way....truly genuine if you know Joe Elliott. It also says a ton about Joe as he continues to stay current, not just stay in his respective music "lane", and appreciate great music regardless from who/where it comes. Dave is crazy ass talented and Joe sincerely acknowledges it. Joe and Dave....a couple of the real giants in the industry - people and talent wise.

@Life Is Peachy - I haven't had the pleasure of meeting the guy, but a couple of friends of mine have, and both of them said that he is in fact absolutely for real and genuine in his enthusiasm for meeting people - and people who love music in particular. You've got to remember that he was only 25 when Kurt died and it's clear that it shook him to the core. Everything he's said and done since indicates that - for all his undoubted talent - he considers himself incredibly lucky to not only have come out the other side of it, but also to eventually achieve success in his own right.
He's neither seeking attention nor "sucking up" - by all accounts he really does his best to be that positive and enthusiastic with everyone he meets, because he considers himself blessed to be in the position he's in (and he truly is a sucker for any music that rocks).
