- FIRST LOOK: The Dark Horse is the top performance trim for the 2024 Ford Mustang. Under the hood is a Coyote V8 that pumps out 500HP & mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Big props to Ford for continuing to sell the mustang, and especially with a manual. At first I wasn't too keen on the interior. It's growing on me now. The exterior.... Holy smokes!!! BADASS!

About the fuking time they changed! I always love the Mustang but fuk their designs are so fuking ugly. I'm waiting for this one and ready to buy over the ugly looking 400Z coming out later.
Give us one screen for Apple CarPlay. Then some clean analog gauges and I’ll be happy.

Joe, having been a Mustang fan and owner for more than 50 years ago, I really do like the new facia treatments to this beauty. I do like the running lights above the triple beam headlights. From the few pics and videos I've seen recently, this one does not disappoint, at least not aesthetically. And, I really like the "dark horse" badge, too.

I was starting my freshman year in high school right at the end of Mustang II production, and the beginning of Fox Mustang production. It was an awesome surprise when the GT returned 3 years later, with 157 horsepower (a big deal at the time) and mandatory 4 speed overdrive.
I've owned and driven four Mustangs so far in my lifetime: 1987 Mustang GT, 2001 Bullitt Mustang, 2006 Saleen S-281SC, and a 2017 Mustang GT. I think I'm in love with the Dark Horse. I really dig the new digital information center, controls, and the rear end... particularly the uniqueness of the brake and turn lights. I think the various body flaring and design details are all awesome too. The amount of horsepower they're pulling out of the 302 cubic inch motors with normal aspiration (no power adder) is also an incredible engineering achievement. Well done Ford!
Ive never owned a muscle car before. Ive always wondered which one should I get or what would it looked like. Well, now I dont have to wonder no more because Ive found it with this.

These last few years of Mustangs are just sooo good looking. 2024 Mustang is no exception. Beautiful outside. Being an old guy in So Calif, I need/want an auto. Glad the manual is an option, but auto for me.

Hi from Australia, First time I’ve come across this channel, real solid review given the lack of information coming out. My girlfriend wants one, so trying to find out some info, your channel has been the best for the dark horse.
This is definitely a better looking car! I especially like the rear end. To me, it’s like they did an evolutionary design of the 05-09 rear end. And overall, it’s like they blended exterior design cues of all the cars since the foxbody with the finishing touch being a foxbody inspired cockpit. This is the best Mustang Ford has produced yet and its street presence will be very strong.

@@newfie-dean5803 this car is extremely close to the S550 so what exactly did you not like or were you just being a hater? The headlights and taillights are actually downgrades. I’d love to hear why you think the S550 isn’t “exciting”
@Mike Jones I was never a fan of the squish rear end look of the 10-14 so I have to disagree. This is like an evolution of the boxy 05-09 rear.
@@Jo4sh12 Im not being a hater but I disagree on them being extremely close. While I don’t think the S550’s are bad looking cars they just never gave me a desire to want to buy one. From day 1 I thought the rear of the 2015 looked like a heavy load had been dropped from a crane onto the back end to squat it down. From directly behind it looked good but not from other angles. And from the side the car’s hood looks way too long and overall it just looks too long and skinny from the side which doesn’t align with the wide rear end look. This car looks thicker and better proportioned from the side and the back don’t look squat down. It also looks more beefy in the front. And usually these new cars don’t look as good on video as they do in person but yet this one looks great on video so in person I know it would be much better and even more so once you see a few driving around. This is going to be one hot car on the street.

At my dealer. Speak to them, clearly you can’t order, but you can get in the queue. He tells me Ford won’t take orders till Dec, money talks though.

I've already asked to be on the waiting list of a new Dark Horse at my local Ford Dealer. It is just spectacular. Wondering whether it will offer a similar experience as a Shelby GT350 or 500. Your informative description helps figure this out.

I absolutely love the design of the dark horse and I love that Ford is still keeping the V8 alive. A naturally aspirated 5.0 engine pushing 500 hp is definitely something I need in my life lol. I should have waited till this came out before buying my 2021 Gt 😢.

Ford went in the direction with this they needed to improve the technology in the interior and they hit right on the money with this new model

I thought about the Mach1, but to pay GT-350 money for a car with 500 HP is sweet. I didn't choose a Mach1 in part because of the louder graphics package and also the round insets on the front-end grill that don't make sense to me without the lights. Looks like they forgot something. I realize this feature is a nod to the 1970s Mach1, but why not include the lights? Still a very cool car.

As far as the car, I like the outside much better than I thought I would. If the dash in the dark horse is the same as the gt. I personally don’t care for the huge info dash. 2nd comment - I agree with you on the gloss black. I had an '18 GT in black with the black-out package & 10sp. I was so crazy about keeping it flawless. What drove me nuts the most - well, other than what I brought on myself for owning a black car and being OCD, was that bleepin' gloss plastic panel in between the rear taillights. The slightest spidering started from before day one. In the winter? The static electricity from my microfibers would literally draw in the dust.
I loved that car (Ford Perf Stage 2 suspension, new wheels, fat soft rubber, h-pipe) but vastly preferred my '11 GT with its 6sp manual and raw energy.
I feel a' 14-'15 BOSS 302 , or a GT350, maybe R. Do you still have yours? That engine! Oh boy!

Honestly I’d have to get used to the new front end. The thin headlights seem to give it a more Camaro-like look to me, but I’d have to see side by side front pics.
I currently have a ‘21 GT500, and it would take a lot more than what I’ve seen so far to make me even think about considering a possible upgrade (assuming we ever get an S650 GT500). Looking forward to more reviews on production units!

Currently have 2019 Mustang GT PP1 6-speed car and love it. As soon as the 2024 ordering opens up, I'll be placing an order for a Dark Horse. I am very happy to hear of the shift to Tremec from the Getrag. My only complaint is the badging - I sure would like to see 5.0 and Mustang badges vs the Dark Horse badges. I am sure the aftermarket will solve this one though....

I've been checking the Mach-1 since it came out and I've been flirting with the idea of ordering one, but after seeing the Dark Horse trim... God Ford you really did your number on me! It's love at first sight with this one and I'm settled that I'm getting it. I really hope that the European regulators don't screw this up and delay it more than necessary. Great job Ford!! If I could add anything I would do front parking sensors, front camera for producing videos and protection for the front splitter against parking curb damage, driving/fog lights and a large panoramic glass roof similar to what was available in earlier Porsche targa tops or some Mercedes. I hope the Dark Horse gets the adaptive cruise control because it’s not offered on the Mach 1 from the last generation. I would have preferred the wider front fenders from the GT 350 instead of the plastic lip extensions but I am just being overly nit picky. The car is totally Awesome and it’s probably going to be my next car!!! I can’t wait to order one!!! Thanks Lori for all the great camera 🎥 work! 😊🫶🏻
I'm not really a Mustang guy, but I gotta say the S650 Dark Horse is one mean ride! So digging that Vapor Blue as well. I can't wait to see pricing and driving perspectives on this thing. Just sold my 2014 Cayman S manual, have my heart set on a 981, or 718 GT4 manual, but this Mustang Dark Horse seems compelling at first glance.
Would be a l9ng term keeper from a value standpoint. This gen is the last 100% dinosaur-bone fueled Mustang. I think these "last of the" unique variations will be highly collectable and valuable long term.

Joe I’m honestly on the fence for this one. I love the new mustang and will place my order when they accept them. The price is a big deal to me so deciding btw the Gt or the Horse will be a hard decision til I order mine.

I recently bought a gt500 and I love the hood it's aggressive and it feels like a muscle car. The hood on the dark horse I think can be improved more aggressive the hood vents look funny imo.

I bought both of my 89(burgundy)and 91(white w/gold stripe)5.0 mustangs off the show room floor in both those years when I was in the military. Best cars and engines I ever owned…. I’m just happy that ford isn’t going ev with the stang… by the way for all you youngins.. my mustangs back in 89 and 91 cost $15,900 each, loaded. How times have changed.

Hey Joe! Firstly, great job. Second, why haven't we heard anything about 2023 Mustang? I love the 2024's- I think that Ford absolutely knocked it out of the park with the Dark Horse. The only thing is that I'd get a current Mach 1, because it will take a few years for them to work out the kinks in the new engine. I would get a G6 Mustang- love the look.

I like the headlights. Feel like its more like the 2015-17 which I preferred over the 18 and up.

Awesome video as always Joe! We appreciate all the work you do so we can get a closer look at all of these cars. One thing I'm disappointed Ford didn't adjust is the roof hight for the back seats. I understand it's a muscle car, but the back seats are completely worthless and someone above 5'10" is going to have their head touch the glass sloping down. I'd rather them get rid of the seats if you can't reasonably fit an adult back there. I'm not talking about a long road trip, I just mean if I have to drive an hour downtown, it'd be nice to fit some friends in the back moderately comfortably while still having the performance.
