- FIRST LOOK: The end of an era is happening with the Challenger, but Dodge has some special editions. This is 1 of 300 Black Ghost models that are being built. On the outside you will notice the Pitch Black color, special vinyl on the roof, unique wheels and tail stripe. Under the hood is a 6.2L supercharged Hemi V8 that produces 807HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost the BEST new muscle car to BUY?

I worked with the Original owner and Legend of the Black Ghost. Would you believe he was a Motor Cop when we worked at Detroit Police Department. I knew the car back in the 70’s got to be friends with him in the 80’s when we were both Cops.

Its so cool that Dodge is paying homage to stories like this. I've never been much of a mopar guy, but you just can't ignore the legacy of the challenger and I'm glad they're doing big things to send it off (for now.)

I'm from Detroit born and raised and the Black Ghost was always something I used to hear about as a kid from my Dad who worked at Chrysler 35 plus years.
Edit. My dad was also a police cadet in the 70's but left the force when my brother was born because my mom didn't want him on the force. That's when he went to work for Chrysler.
You’re right Joe, Lori is superb at her camera skills. She’s smooth and graceful with showing the details. Her zoom speed is very clean .. the right angles for highlights and the angles to reflect the details even with all the black on the Ghost. I don’t get sea-sick, she’s very smooth.. the best. Thank you Lori, you make viewing a pleasure.

Cool thing is that you can basically recreate the spec with the Jailbreak package. Yeah, you'll be missing the Black Ghost little details, but you can fix them with aftermarket stuff.

I watched the documentary about the original black ghost about 2 years ago. I feel like this is very cool for Dodge to pay homage to that car I just hope they also pay homage to that family and give them some money off of these sales because the idea came from this Black family man and his son still has the original black ghost.!!🔥🔥
Challenger is just such a beauty. Really one of the few mopars that stayed mostly true to its roots. Really going to miss it in the age of electric vehicles. Making it a point to snag me one in the the near future along with the c8/c7 corvette

The Black Ghost is amazing. The Story is even more amazing. But, the legend, was a Police officer by day, street racer by night. And the gentleman was an Afro American.
I wish I could have this car. The Black Ghost is the most Legendary of the Last Calls. Why? It has a story about a street legend. Chrysler/Dodge didn't make the name or Story. But, Dodge recognize a LEGEND!
Hellcat owner here, and while I love what MOPAR has done with the challenger and charger the past few years, I gotta say they blew it with the "black ghost" edition imo. The roof and the cheesy badging remind me of an era in the late 70's when a sports car had nothing more than a tach and a pinstripe over the base model. This edition had so much potential but the "stick-ons" killed it for me! Just my '02 so to each his own I suppose...

Thanks for the insight on the hood pins. In my younger days I always saw does pins on hot rods in car magazines in the 70’s. I always thought they were hood locks to keep thieves from opening the hood. Now I know what their truly for THANKS.
Great car, I get the limited edition thing but the dealer markup is going to be out of this world.
I just took delivery in September on a 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Wide Body with Shaker Hood, I had one 50 years ago (1972) and thought let’s get one more, Ordered in early July and received mine in Mid-September, 6.4 liter is amazing, cars powerful; quite on the inside, solid on the highway.
I love this edition looks amazing I do wish it came with quad exhaust, the chrome makes it look like a classic!

@4:44 You're missing the Garvey Flag that was on the original car. Not only was he an 82nd Airborne Green Beret, but Mr. Godfrey Qualls was also a proud Zulu Warrior; and he showed that on the fenders beneath the Challenger badging! ❤️🖤💚

I love the retro touches but I feel like they missed the spot on the wheel. They definitely should have put Cragar's on it. I also agree there should have been Black Ghost on the headrest.
The original cragars would have been too small for the brake calipers.

Black Ghost Iconic legend beat any cars in the street! My opinion Dodge should more serious for this limited edition using the Demon and more special interior to stand out for its crazy prices!

I've actually seen the real Black Ghost and I'm amazed that Dodge built a tribute to that car. It's unfortunate that it didn't get a special engine to pay homage to the 426 Hemi the real one has. This is probably my favorite of the farewell cars

When you look at the car behind you when you're talking the hood looks like it's a dark charcoal gray because of the lights. And actually looks good.

I have one on order. I can't decide if I want to sit on it for a year or two and see how much they're selling for or just start to daily it, as i planned. I was going to track it as well, but may be changing my mind about that. My bet is it's one of the most collectible Hellcats.

Not being a fan of black wheels, I've always loved this wheel in silver on either Dodge. Reminds me of the C6 ZR1 wheel too. They needed to have Black ghost special embroidery somewhere on the seat. Katzkin really fumbled there. I ordered a custom set of seat covers from them for my Chally before they signed with FCA, I was shocked when what I got for under $1300 was an absolutely perfect OEM looking full interior redo after install in 2013. Red/black with Mopar emblem in the seat back and Challenger on the headrest. I'd love to get you pics of my custom Chally JOE, can I email you?
Beautiful car, the only thing I wished they would have done was areal full alligator vinyl top and maybe the dog dish hub caps and like you said more Ghost badging inside. Thanks
My lottery dream car. I had a 73 nice primer and Hondo patches. I loved it at 17 now at 58 I need this car. I'd like that push or primer gray high gloss color. So if I hit the power ball tonight, ill loose my license by December 1st and love it.

Great video Joe you did an awesome job of showing the vehicle about a month ago I went into a dealership and put a deposit down they said they would sell it at MSRP and they came back when the horsepower locator came out the first day and told me it would be 50 K over MSRP so then I called a lot of dealerships and I found one that was willing to sell the car to me at 25K over MSRP so I have two reserved and I’m going to be selling the one that’s 50 K over MSRP I’m gonna have to pay tax and license but I’m looking at selling the one that is 50 K over MSRP thanks again for the great video and have a great time at Sema

@@IUnknown963 Hey Jason good for locking in that car what I was going to suggest is you know the deal is never done until the car comes in and you’re sitting at the table ready to sign but I’m still gonna try to work them on that dealer mark up and try to get it down plus when these cars come in which could be eight months to a year from now and if the economy gets worse and the interest rates go up they need to negotiate with us on these dealer mark ups so keep that in mind when the car comes in and before you sign anything I’m still get a negotiate the dealers do it to us all the time I once bought the car they told me the price I went in to do the paperwork and they marked it up so they can do it we can do it OK have a good night and congratulations

I love it, expect I agree with the exhaust. The stipe is cool, but I'd probably get it dark gray... I like front stripes too, but it's whatever. Not a fan of the top, I'd rather it just be black, or all glass. I love the rims, but I'd rather have them either chrome or just blacked out.

Would have been too much to color match the spoiler? It looks like an add on. The high gloss black looks great with the chrome fuller cap, chrome wheels would have completed it.
