    I can appreciate the performance of this car, but since I'm getting on in years, the '64.5 -'73 Mustangs will always be my favorites. My first car was a 1965 GT Mustang I bought in 1973 for $500. I'm retired now, and my current Mustang is a 1973 Mach 1, the car I really wanted when I was 16 back in 1973 but couldn't afford. So now it's time for the new generation to make their own Mustang memories, I've made mine. And still living it!

      Your 1st car was a 65' GT stang? And you survived? Good on you brother. My 1st car was a 69' Cougar w/351 Windsor and I very nearly killed myself on NUMEROUS occasions! Seriously, the stories that car could tell. Of course I wish I had held onto it but realistically I'm glad I didn't cause I was an 'effing idiot when I was in my late teens and I'm sure I would have killed the car (& probably myself with it). I sold it to a friend's older brother that said he wanted to restore it. I hope he did and also hope it's still alive somewhere, maybe sitting at a red-light with that non-threatening but also slightly intimidating undertone from it's throaty rumble idle. Classic colors, maroon w/black vinyl top, black interior (non XR7). Part of me still misses it but that car deserved much better than a teenage idiot like myself. I do feel bad for the abuse I did to that car, but I'm happy it survived me and I hope it is living a peaceful but still active retirement. Goodbye kitty-cat. Miss you and hope you live many lifetimes beyond my own. 😥

      @@0utpatient Oh yea, barely. Of course, got my first ticket in it, leaving high school one day, everybody in school saw me get that ticket. Another day, I had five people in it, running 110mph, and I'm 6'6"+. Didn't do much street racing, but did outrun a '65 Dodge Dart and a '65 Malibu 327 with it. Few years later, a 18 wheeler came over in my lane and totaled the car. Picked up a '67 coupe after that, I put the '65 motor in it, which led to more carnage lol.

    Very cool video.. definitely a good look at the car. The 2003-2004 Mach 1 was one of my favorites..under dog but ended up performing very well. I hope the Dark Horse is a repeat story here, given the direction every other manufacturer seems to be going (dumping V8s) the Mustang will stand alone and I am happy to see them carry on like this.

    I love Jim Owens enthusiasm. Every time I see him in an interview I think of one of his appearances on Jay Leno. Jim was demonstrating the rear haunches of the Mustang he and Jay were reviewing and Jim proceeded to get down on all fours, his hands and knees, actually balls of his feet, with his rear end facing up. Putting himself in a compromised position. Jay laughed and said, “ Please don’t ever do that again” it was too funny. So now whenever I hear Jim Owens talk about Mustangs and specifically their stance and how they appear ready to pounce, I naturally picture his
    Pose and Leno’s retort during their interview together. Ha!

    They mentioned one thing that bothers me about new cars. I understand inflation, but I also understand capitalism, trend and opportunism. Back in 1985-1989 you could get into a 5 liter mustang for as little as 11,000. So young people were able to buy these cars in droves. But now these cars have a 40k base price. Unfortunately wages haven’t matched inflation. So fewer kids can buy these cars.

    I understand Ford wants to appeal to the younger buyer. However, make the computer dash a tech option. Have a retro or classic dash package, for those who want the traditional interior look of a Mustang without the unnecessary distraction of all of this display overload. As an enthusiast, the driving experience is what is the attraction...the family lineage of appearance both inside and out. The dual Ipads stuck on the dash is like a lot of new cars coming out...has no soul.

    • @0utpatient
      @0utpatient 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah. Using the Unreal Gaming Engine for the dash visuals is on one hand extremely cool (or lit, tight, dope, awesome, far-out, the bees-knees,...) but on the other hand is it going to crash occasionally like all gaming engines do on computers? And when that happens will the car then crash IRL? Yes sure the current Unreal Engine is supremely sophisticated and advanced and all that jazz...right? But that does not mean it will never crash. I don't know if I want ANY gaming engine in control (even if only slightly) of a multiple hundred horsepower mechanical beast that weighs 2 tons or so that I'm driving near 200-ish miles per hour (at least once or twice). It's not that I don't trust you Ford, but I've been a computer geek for too long to trust any computer or software running on it in such circumstances. Yeah I know all cars are computerized now days but come on, I can just imagine flying around a track IRL then on my track mode screen in my Darkhorse 'Stang I suddenly no-clip off the track into a bizarre out-of-bounds Carmageddon world. hmmm... actually that sound pretty cool. Bring it on FORD and your Unreal 'Stang. Let's see what it can do. Bwahahaha...

    I appreciate the dash and cluster and all that tech, but if Ford would have done it in analog for us boomers, I would have liked it more. But I guess they are going after a younger generation who are posting videos on social media and with this new dark horse, they can from their new Mustang.

    Technology is good but most performace minded drivers don't need all of that extra stuff. Just give me a powerful engine and a car that can handle and I'm happy. Ford and others care to much about making every car into an I-phone or a Droid. If they remove have of the unneeded stuff they could cut the weight down and make these cars more affordable. As usual this and any offerings from Ford is out of my price range and a lot of these cars may just end up sitting on a lot.

    Too much orange peel, and no way do I want that dash screen with all the doodads. Every guy I've encountered with Recaros has changed them out for standard seats because they are uncomfortable. All moot points, as my local dealer is planning on marking them up a minimum (!) of 30-40k apiece. Um, no. Guess I'll stick to my GT/CS. I love Jim Owens but no matter how hard he tries to talk it up the design of this dashboard is a fail of EPIC proportion. The designer who came up with this not only needs to be fired, the entire management chain above him as well. This dash has NOTHING to do with Mustang anymore and is the exact same shapeless positioning of screens that you see in Mercedes, Opel, Kia, BMW, Hyundai, etc, etc. I have nothing against screens and the new UI is pretty cool but ditching the double brow and going with this utterly generic physical layout is a colossal cluster fcuk. Instead of holding useless clinics with idiot milennials (who cannot afford this car in a million years anyway) all they had to do was walk into any Porsche dealership and look how they completely digitized the dashboard in the 911 while still OOZING heritage design. It's a sad time at Ford when that fake Mustang Mach-E has a dashboard that now has more Mustang heritage than the new S650.

    The big question is of course, what Shelby is it? It's clear by the wing and badges that it was a GT350R and the high-revving 5.2-liter V-8 was in full song. But with all that camo draped on the front end, it suggests one of two things: that this is some sort of 350R variant - possibly an even higher-spec track model - or a mule for the long-rumored GT500.
    There appears to be a much bigger grille and lower front air dam, as well as a higher hood, which could mean that the flat-plane-crank V-8 has been fitted with a supercharger. Also note the wheels, which are hiding something, possibly larger brakes. Additionally, it was caught testing with a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, an indication of benchmark testing of the car.
    Given the recent flap over GT350s overheating at the track, it's more than possible however that this is just Ford testing a fix to aid cooling to the GT350.
    Whatever it is, Ford has something cooking under the hood of the Shelby Mustang, and it shouldn't be long before we know exactly what it is.
    The most trash team in the whole world Fordperfomance team.
