Hey all! This is the second video in my new Thursday tradition of uploading a new video every week. I wanted to start making more informal videos that were a few minutes in length and provided one thought for your day or week. Hope it's an encouragement! With this one I pray we understand we don't have to act for God, but understand He knows all of our failures and mess ups and He still died for us. We don't have to hide. Appreciate you guys! Hi Jeff,
My best friend told me about you a while back, and I have pretty much watched every single one of your videos. Thank you for these videos and words of truth that we so desperately need to be reminded of. This video in particular was in continuity with a book I just finished reading called, Grace for the Good Girl by Emily Freeman. This inspired me to write my own sort of "spoken word" as you do on my story as being a "good girl." I wanted to share this with you. Keep inspiring others.
Anger.
Anxiety.
Fear.
Guilt.
Shame.
Your mask might have a different name, but their functions are all the same.
We hide behind different insecurities, but for me it's one that looks like purity.
In the same way some girls wear the mask of promiscuity to get attention, good girls rely and are defined by their good reputation.
But we we all want is just love and affection.
I'm a "good girl."
On the outside, it may seem like I have it all together, but deep down I can't handle the pressure.
I seem to confuse my identity, when being good all the time becomes my reality.
I always try to be the perfect little Christian, thinking my good works will be sufficient.
I fear failure and rejection, wanting to make sure my life is up to yours and God's expectations.
Just as others are enslaved to addictions, I confuse performing well in everything as an act of submission.
I perform because I don't know how not to. I expect too much of myself because I think it's what you and God demand as well.
Good girls aren't needy but instead are the ones who are usually needed.
And let me tell you, living safe instead of free is rather difficult to do.
It's quite exhausting to be the good girl you think you always have to be.
But here is the good news I have finally received: I don't actually have to be.
I have been a Christian for years, but I have been going about it all wrong.
Trying to please God means all trust is gone. But when I trust God, pleasing him is no longer only a facade.
He has given grace for everyone, even for good girls who need it just as much as the rest of us.
Grace doesn't mean following all the rules, because thinking that's even possible makes me a fool.
Jesus loves me not for my behavior, but instead he does despite of my failures.
Satan has his foothold on us in different ways, but in the end sin is all the same.
Jesus wants me and my heart, which requires me to be vulnerable, but it has honestly been the best part.
He wants me so badly that he gave his life for me, and that is the truth that has ultimately set me free.
Now, the masks will never disappear completely as long as we live in a fallen world temporarily.
But now that I have tasted freedom, those masks won't even last for an entire season.
I know the truth about my rescue, so now all I can do is give my heart and my life in order to say, "Thank you."
You're a real blessing man. Everytime I feel that I'm going to the wrong path, I watch your videos and I get inspired by it. It's a real hard walk, but it's amazing to find people like you that can really encourage people to ceaselessly be in God. God bless you brother.
Me and my family have been going through some really horrible things lately. I've been having horrible anxiety and it has even manifested itself physically and now it's just another thing to worry about. Last night I cried, begged and pleaded that God would just tell me something. I just wanted to know that He still loved me and that He still cared. I had felt for the past two months that He's up there watching us suffer and I feel like this video was the answer to my prayers. Thank you.

Man honestly listening to your spoken words or how you break things down are truly a blessing because you answer alot of questions i have but be too afraid to ask so i ask you this how can our faith help us through heartbreak if you are the one who messed up the relationship in the first place

It's funny, I tend to avoid watching your videos on some subconscious premise that "oh, I'll just feel down because I'm not living out my life the way God wants me to be." I realize everytime that that is the Devil's seed in my mind, because man, these videos are so uplifting! Thank you Jefferson!

Ah, this video hit home. I often find myself hiding my emotions because I want others to be empowered when they speak with me, but come prayer time I drop it all and cry like a baby lol..

I love how you speak about marriage and being truely loved.. it is just amazing to be married and to be loved and love someone for all that they are even their faults and to think that Jesus loves us that much as to everyone it is just an amazing, never ending love.. like the love i have for my husband.. i wouldnt trade it for anything. i lvoe Gods love.

Here's something fascinating I just noticed... watch the video again, but this time ONLY watch Jeff's hands and their movements, while listening to the words he is saying. The content of his speech is matched almost *perfectly* to the types of gestures his hands make. I don't think i have ever noticed this to such an extent before, either with a speaker in real life or on TH-cam. What skills! I wonder if anybody could learn that, communication effectively with hands... I guess it becomes habit
