Ester F ha!! It’s been awhile huh?! Sorry been focusing on few other projects the last year or so. But maybe this means I should bring back more consistent videos 😎? I sure do miss em! Ha
Jefferson Bethke do what you can! I just share your videos to my fellow Christians as well as nonbelievers. Helps with sparking a conversation about God in a creative way.
I am literally almost in tears because this has been on my heart so heavy for the past few years. Our culture is obsessed with this idol called hustle. Like you said we glorify it, we Instagram it, we brag about it in our music, etc. Meanwhile, our families suffer, our relationships are gone, we get tired, and then we feel shamed because the the culture we live in says that if we are not hustling enough then we are not successful. I love how Jesus never rushed anything. Thank you for writing this, and I cannot wait to read.
Dezzy Yates and we measure ourselves up to an unattainable goal. Always falling short and somehow we project that on our relationship with God. That is some good insight!
I spent the majority of my life overworking. Last year my health deteriorated and I realised that it was because I had been living at the speed of light. I left my full time teaching job last year and now do supply and tutoring. I am so much happier now as I'm learning to slow down. My mind doesn't feel overwhelmed now. I'm still recovering but I'm finally on the right track. A very powerful and much needed message Jeff as we live in a culture of busyness that is dangerous to our mental and physical health. We must learn to slow down and spend time with God if we want peace, good health and live in God's plan for us.
Love this word, I think it’s something we all need to hear! I think sometimes if we walk with Jesus at His pace, we can actually accomplish MORE for His Kingdom than we can do running full speed on our own!!
Exactly!!! We need to slow down enough to hear (sense in our spirit) the direction in which God wants us to go in. Otherwise we will have wasted MUCH more time & energy than necessary. We live in a "microwave society" in which everyone wants "it" NOW (success, finances, acclaim, power, fame, etc, etc, etc), but God has more of the speed of a slow cooker (on low lol) instead. Anything GOOD is worth waiting for, & God weeds out the insincere by taking us from victory to victory at a slower pace. I used to be frustrated about His pace, but I now realize it's His Grace & Protection that's the reason behind it. No good parent would let their 3 year old to eat an ENTIRE cake in one sitting, because they know that it would only hurt them. God is the same way with us. If He allowed us to get everything at once we'd get hurt too. Not only that, but we wouldn't appreciate it NEARLY as much if He did. There's something about working, pressing, & striving from glory to glory that gives us a DEEP appreciation for the blessings when we get them. He wants us to be blessed not for the blessings to destroy us. Thank God that His Thoughts & Ways are Higher than ours. I'm not saying that I like it all the time either, but I KNOW He's been right EVERY single time!!! 💜💜💜🙏
I just finished reading your book. I have to say I've never read anything quite like it. The honesty and transparency was very refreshing. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope you write another book very soon. Thanks again! God bless!
I needed this so much. I pre-ordered this book a while ago because I just knew, I have to read it. I'm so exited and it feels like reading the book will be one of the first steps to stop the hustle! Thank you for your faithfulness and for sharing your experiences with God ☺️
PREACH! It’s time we ditched “busy” as the status symbol of choice. Excited for this! Thanks for all you do! You were definitely a big inspiration for my channel, something I’ll always be grateful for.
🙌🏽 I have stepped away from things that glorify the “mom hustle” because I didn’t like what it was doing to me. I had to look to God for guidance on whether or not I should keep grinding and busting my butt “for my family” and “financial freedom.” Thank you!! Can’t wait to get a copy of the book.
Jessica Peoples so what did the Lord Minister to you? Because I went through the same thing... I was doing my kingdom assignment but I was too broke... I thought that God would "tangibly" provide but I guess I was daydreaming. I decided to let the ministry go so I can take care of things but I feel so guilty and so sad. I want to do what he showed and called me but being broke is such a "curse" because I can't pay rent and school fees... Uuurrggghhhh!!! I'm so stuck right now...
I hustled for 10 years doing online marketing. And while it is profitable, I never felt any success or happiness. I've tried to return to the hustle after finding my faith in Allah. It leaves me angry, frustrated and rushing around needing something done by x date. It's not rewarding. The money might be amazing, but everything else around you crumbles away.
I read you and your wife's book, love that lasts. All I can say is thank you, for the best advice about relationships I could ever get. I've read the book three times total and now whenever i am challenged in relationships, I guide to two things, my bible and your book. It's truly changed my corrupt view of relationships, it has brought me so much closer to God and has changed my life. Thank you for guiding me Mr. Bethke.
Jessi Ph all nighters aren’t bad in themselves, but you have to think if it’s in line with God’s will. Are you working all night mainly to increase material wealth and success for its sake? Or are you working all night to serve God Better, to be able to provide for your family? Whatever we do, let us always put God first. Work shouldn’t replace God as the center of our lives.
Great message Jeff, currently in the military and this is a struggle for me often. Trying not to get so absorbed into the hustle culture but also not trying to bring work home with me is another side effect of it as well.
You're incredible. I love how you're always thinking and analyzing what God has to say and how our culture compares to that. You are shedding such light on life-giving/life-threatening topics and are inspiring generations. God is using you in amazing ways. So excited to read this book and for anything you put out in the future!
Oh my goodness I needed this. I almost forgot today that I have to go with His pace. No wonder I had anxiety that I had to hurry and get things done to reach a certain goal a few months from now. In His timing. Thank you so much!
I've followed Jefferson for years .. it's been a while since I've seen a video like this from him. This message speaks to me on so many levels. Precisely what I've been talking about for weeks..I cant wait.
glad to hear you say that Jeff Bethke... I could tell that you were a hustler from the very first video I ever saw of you.... sounds like you're preaching to yourself more than anyone else! you're projecting....GODSPEED
Mark Kennedy, a side of it is, no doubt. The idea that you have to produce like mad and work like crazy in order to be “happy” - I would say IS destructive. Because the trade-off (many times) is less time for family, hobbies, personal time, etc. But then again, Gary V speaks to a very specific audience, albeit, an apparently large one. And that demographic (of which I’m not really a part of) is populated by people who seem have a sincere desire to create things, be their own boss, and be financially secure (or “get rich”) eventually. That, in and of itself could become very toxic because therein lies the idea that things/money/busyness automatically ushers in contentment/happiness - and it just doesn’t. Scores of stories out there where ultra-successful people describe gut-wrenching emptiness amidst riches, power, and success. I’m rambling probably a bit, but I guess what I’m trying to say is that Gary V’s audience is largely comprised of wanna’ be entrepreneurs (and I don’t mean that in a bad way) who can’t NOT be busy. It’s part of their industrious makeup. So, in order to be “at peace” with themselves, they HAVE to create, push forward, and make things. But there must must MUST be a balance of stillness and productivity, otherwise, all you’re working for (family, peace, happiness) becomes eternally elusive and impossible to catch. Even Gary V himself sometimes talks about acquaintances & friends of his who are insanely happy with their work / life balance making $40k per year. And that’s perfectly okay, in my mind. Anyway, I know you didn’t ask for this reply Mark, but your comment sparked a thought in me and I couldn’t NOT write it down. Lol. Grace & Peace friend.
@Mark Kennedy. When you live in a country where unemployment is at 29%, where many qualified people are being laid-off then your comment becomes obsolete. Being condescending with the wrong attitude is not godliness brother. The "Gary V" culture or people with an entrepreneurial drive comes about for many different reasons. In my case and many like me, its not necessarily about chasing money. Although generating wealth is a side effect. Sometimes it is driven by need. The need or desire to create your own space in the world in which you do what you love and happen to make money at the same time. Does it honor God? Depends on what is driving the person. Not everything that honors God is done with that as its primary intent. However, if your hearts desire is to honor Him in all you do then it follows that what you do will consciously or inadvertently honor Him. If you are walking in the "flow of grace" then will that not be a part of the result? If the angels can't judge intent then who is man that we do this on a daily basis. I think this video will do more harm than good when the primary message is misconstrued. I think Jeff is referring to those who are chasing money and not the glory of God. Hustle for the sake of hustle is dangerous, but when God has given you the opportunity and what you are doing is done with the right mindset and intent, then how is God not glorified? Be blessed
Wow, i don't know you and stumble on this from "Francis Chan" search in youtube. Amen! Keep that fire flaming brother, I pray that God will continue to lead you into areas where folks needed to hear more about Jesus and what it really means/takes to abide in Him!!
Good to see you again! Great video! I was expecting a spoken word but it's all good. Look forward to buying that book when I can man. Always felt like I'm trying to work too much!
Crazy, I work 12.25 but it is actually 13 hours. It is shift work but damn it is so busy, takes one day off to recuperate. I so look forward to slowing down on my days off!
I'm a mother of 2 and I for the past 6 months I have been at home looking after kids. I think toddlers must know this, I think they too go 3 miles per hour. Life can get really frustrating if I try to speed things up or be productive while also looking after the kids. So I forget about the productivity, or the hustle and just appreciate my time with the kids and the blessing that they are. It is truly a gift to be a mother and learn To hell with the Hustle like you say.
Thank you for sharing this truth Jeff. It’s always been my thought; we are not called to a life of hustle. There is more to life than all of that. I can’t wait to read the book.
I have been watching these since the beginning, and read both of your books so far. Love this idea! Miss your videos but to hell with the TH-cam hustle.
So good! This has been on my heart for many years. God has not allowed me to flourish in hustle mode. It is very clear that it just doesn't work because it removes Him.
So apt and timely, been learning this the past year or so and it's continually coming to my life. Psalms 46:10 "Be still and know I am God" has continued to show up for me. Thank you for this
DUDE! I'm so excited for you and for THIS! I'm doing a huge study on Sabbath and rest right now and I can't wait to add this book to the list! Praying for the launch, hope it all goes well.
Definitely a valuable lesson here. Though, I know my reason for hustling. It’s nothing to do with being apart of the hustle culture. It’s everything to do with experiencing the fruits of not hustling. Always being behind and unprepared for unexpected shortcomings. Always dreaming about doing something more with my life but never actually getting around to it because I didn’t want to put in the work or make any sacrifices. Also, hustling to me doesn’t just mean hustling in my career. It means always keeping busy and not being lazy about improving all areas of my life. I do think there needs to be a balance though. Sometimes God just wants us to slow down and spend some time with him.
Jeff, I have watched and listened to you for YEARS. You are one of my most favorite. I found it the date of your book release and the recent world wide crisis forcing everyone to slow down to be very powerful, or ironic -- who knows. Also, I giggled a little when I thought, "he always talks so fast, hmm..more irony." :)
You need to "hustle" to be the best at your game. Always willing to put in that extra rep, that's what separates you from others. Colossians 3:23-24 tells us that, Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
I think what he was trying to say is that you don't need to hustle on your own and instead trusting God and living for Him instead of your desires and pleasures? (:
This is sooo refreshing to hear!! I HATE those words ‘hustle’ and ‘grind’ which I hear a lot in the performing arts community I work in. This will be a refreshing book to read! Thank you Jeff!
This video came at the right time. I have a tendency to be a workaholic, but in the end it never really makes you happy how much you get work you put in.
I married a Norwegian, I learned their culture which is literally to hell with the hustle because nothing goes fast there! But you are right! When I learned to slow down, I was so, so much happier!
I'm going to honest, man, this video was for me. Especially currently with school back in session and me feeling stressed about my current assignments and quizzes. With school and work and gym and other things I'm carving into my schedule, I think I'm just creating a hole for myself. Thank you for this video. I might need to buy that book.
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! 7 It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, 8 yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. 9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest- 11 and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.
Have always been a fan of the work you do! This is a dope book and I know preachers including myself struggle with this. I think there’s a cool intersection
Want to read this! Also, sounds like the book "Sabbath as Resistance" by Walter Brueggemann (which is also on my to-read list, so don't know if it's good. But I love the idea behind it). Needed this reminder because I want to slow down and truly live and flourish.
This is a great message for a Western world that places the utmost importance on seeking the "Next best thing." Contentment and peacefulness is not rewarded by the ways of these wicked times.
This is awesome! Cant wait to read more. You're a inspiration for me, I'm trying to do the same thing this next year, write a book and use spoken word to introduce the topic.
I know this book is for everyone..but this book is for Enneagram 3's! I started the book on December 31 and finished on New Years Day! Such a great read for the beginning of the new Year. - Alysse
Meanwhile, bills (including a lack of affordable housing) continue to rise at a rapid rate. For some people, not hustling means being out on the street or one paycheck away from being on the edge of poverty. Some people have kids that depend on them for basic needs - I see it all the time. What’s the solution, then? Perhaps your book addresses this.
i was wondering the same thing. I am basically "hustling" and still live with family cause i cant afford to live on my own. I dont understand why some christians sit on their butts and say God will take care of it. Sure God can take care of it but you have to take action and not be lazy.
I would say, you can still hustle but with a purpose. Is your hustle trying to get you something? Are you happy with your hustle? If you're hustling for something that you know won't bring you happiness, don't do it.
Dude, this video came into my recommendeds just in time. I work for FedEx and I get paid a base pay of $130 a day but I start making more if I do more than 120 stops. My route is easy to do 120 stops but this week I've been getting an average of about 190 and its definitely my highest paid week so far. Today I had 230 stops and made some great money and you can say I definitely hustled. My boss called me at the end of my day and asked if I wanted to do only 100 stops tomorrow since I've been doing so many stops this week just so I can I have an easy day and relax. I was thinking, is this God or the devil? Cause all my life I've been stuck making just enough or under and now I'm making much more than that so I started talking to Papa on this and here we are with this video. I know our Father is in to rest so I couldn't really see it as much of the devil as it was God giving me an opportunity to rest and to teach me what I ought to value more. I believe it also is testing my heart because I started thinking "yea but I could make MORE money if I did more stops!" Haha but I realize I don't need to make more money then I already am in sacrifice of rest. I believe my decision would expose where my heart is at with money as well. This scripture came to me on this: As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.” II Corinthians 8:15 look up the AMP on this. God bless 🙏 this was awesome
Odysseus, on his journey home to Ithaca, was visited by a ghost. The ghost tells him that once he reaches his home, once he slays all his enemies and sets his house in order, he must do one last thing before he can rest. The ghost tells him to pick up an oar and walk inland, and keep walking until somebody mistakes that oar for a shovel, for that would be the place that no man had ever been troubled by the sea. And that’s where he’d find peace. -black sails
Wow, effin beautiful truth there man. Thank you. I can picture someone walking three miles an hour in my mind, and it damn well does not look hurried. Great imagery to make your point.
I just read your book "Jesus>Religion" for the second time, one of many Christian books. I have been a Christian for 20 years. I am still waiting for it to make a difference in my life.

DUDE! I'm so excited for you and for THIS! I'm doing a huge study on Sabbath and rest right now and I can't wait to add this book to the list! Praying for the launch, hope it all goes well.
Check out "Holy in Christ" by Andrew Murray
BOOM BABY LETS GO!!! WALK!
Boom so true, can’t wait to read it 🚨
Love this, Jefferson! Thanks for the wisdom you so creatively share! Looking forward to checking out the book.
I had no idea you made videos. Just finished chapter 6 and look where I ended up! Dude, you are so cool. Keep living for Jesus!!
Omg this is me
Always on the grid
Lord forgive me, help me in this hustle culture.
Thank u
It's all of us and I think about this very thing a lot. Lord forgive all of us.
Shut up
Matt God bless you.
Beautifully spoken and true. God bless you friend.
Jerin George 👍🏼
"Working for God not for human masters" read that line again
I so NEEDED to hear this , I need to slow DOWN . WOW!!!
Love it!! Cant wait to read!!
So true. Walk with Him, not run ahead into absolute disaster!
This quite possibly the best book advertisement ive ever seen
Keep up the not hustle, bro!!! Excited for the book.
So needed. 🙌🏻 Thank you Jeff!!
I'm going to honest, man, this video was for me. Especially currently with school back in session and me feeling stressed about my current assignments and quizzes. With school and work and gym and other things I'm carving into my schedule, I think I'm just creating a hole for myself. Thank you for this video. I might need to buy that book.
Awesome words, truth we all need to hear.
God bless you Jeff for rising up to reach your generation. ♥️
Amen Brother
Sounds powerful. I must pick it up.
To hell with the hustle!! Exited to check out the book. Very well put!
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
7 It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
8 yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest-
11 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.
Powerful video 💯
Needed to hear this.
Bro!
This spoke to me, thank you!
Thank you brother for the wisdome.
God Bless you Brother! A most succinct definition of “God Speed”. Well done!
Thank you so much for this truth.
Absolutely love this 🙌🏼
Have always been a fan of the work you do!
I’m so excited for this book!!
A friend just recommended your channel to me as inspiration for my own channel. Wow! You're gifted my friend!
Excellent!
Keep this coming Jeff, I am so blessed
So excited, your books have helped me so much in my 'walk' with Christ!
Amen to that Jeff love this message!
Didn't you hustle when you worked on that book? I'm kidding this is amazing thanks Jeff you tha man.
*Walk in the Pace of Grace !*
I know this book is for everyone..but this book is for Enneagram 3's! I started the book on December 31 and finished on New Years Day! Such a great read for the beginning of the new Year. - Alysse
Brother this is so so so spot on
Stay blessed you are constantly in my prayers
Yes! I love the new videos!
This is really profound... I never looked at this that way... so profound.
Good to see you back!
The Parable of the Talents is about the hustle in my opinion.
This scripture came to me on this:
As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”
II Corinthians 8:15 look up the AMP on this. God bless 🙏 this was awesome
*I love how throws that “God walks slower than you and He enjoys it” not. I’m convicted* 😂 this was a word 🙏🙏
Awesome! I'm only seeing this now but I believe God brought me back to your channel and made me see this at the perfect time!

WOW Truth
Wow, effin beautiful truth there man. Thank you. I can picture someone walking three miles an hour in my mind, and it damn well does not look hurried. Great imagery to make your point.
I just read your book "Jesus>Religion" for the second time, one of many Christian books. I have been a Christian for 20 years. I am still waiting for it to make a difference in my life.
