The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

I always roll my eyes when people claim to hear from God and “God “ only says quotes from the Bible or church doctrine.
The believers are taught to literally test everything they hear by the Bible and the doctrines of whichever denomination they belong to, and dismiss all else as the lies of devils.
Contrast this to the Bible's narrative of God constantly telling people to defy and leave the organized religious institutions they were raised in to follow new spirituality out of their comfort zones.
Like why does god never tell people that they need to remember milk, or they need to pay rent.

I love what you say here about it not being a prophesy unless it has specific time and dates. It reminds me so much of those people who mean well but say, " Hang on, your blessings are on their way, " but don't give specific details about when it's going to get here or what it will be. And then blame me for not having enough faith when it never arrives. Wouldn't my time be better spent on developing what I have instead of holding on to false hope of vague promises that aren't real promises?

Ok, here's my prophecy: a white male who's an actor will be accused of sexual assault in the future. The internet will be divided completely over his guilt or innocence. He'll be wearing red, a female will support him, and some will argue that her support means he's innocent, while others will argue that she's blindly supporting him. People will make memes about it. Also, he will be in some way connected to Kevin Bacon.
Much more detailed than his predictions and yet I somehow have a vision of my own that it's true.
I will be tracking this, God is telling me this is a real prophecy.
Then we will open a church, me and the guy above will be the bishops and you the guru prophet.
I say we call it "Church of Our Lady of Irrelevant Banalities".

I actually went to this Holy Rebel channel. After about 20 minutes of rambling he finally gets to the part where he pulls up the supposed time stamped recording of himself giving details of his prophetic dream. He basically describes a drive-by type scenario in front of a school and says the shooter has an Uzi. Parkland shooting was in the halls of the school with an AR15.
I’ve probably had horrible dreams of some random mass shooting. On any given day in The US there’s a legitimate possibility that it actually happens somewhere.
Matt, your patience is absolutely admirable ! Not to mention your critical thinking/questions.

I'm an atheist. When I was a kid I had this dream a tv news reported that a princess died in a car accident in a tunnel, so I asked my mom to serch for this news without any result. Many years later I saw it in breaking news. No I don't belive it was good or something supernatural. I think it was a coincidence and we joke about it sometimes.

I once had a dream that I fell from a tree. It was back when I was a kid and climbed trees frequently, like everyday almost. Some time later my friend fell from the tree and it seemed to match my dream exactly except for that in my dream I saw it from their perspective, ( first person falling from the tree). I never attributed it to prophecy and just saw it as a mechanism of the brain and dreams and deja Vu and routine the probability of falling when you climb trees frequently and mere coincidence.
You call every last cousin and say, "Never go after the police with a hammer". Done. Actually, that's sound advice for anyone.

Matt has evolved. If this person had called in a decade ago, it would have likely ended in a way that he's still famous for. But check out the patience - and fairness - our man displays here. HR believes what he was on about, and it shows. Matt showed respect for this while still taking him to task. It was still a hang-up, but the guy was offered plenty of chances to get back on track.

RE: Predictions in magic shows being tampered with, Derren Brown has a really good trick where he'll set things up so there's multiple tricks that produce the same answer and because the first trick had the answer in the open(written on a board, in a banner, etc) no one realises all of the tricks are forced until the end of the show given his focus on saying he's predicting what people will pick.
Making a prediction is easy if you can mess with the event you're predicting, a good precog would be able to predict things which come true without any ability to alter the events to cause it.

The point of the show is to find something that is without a doubt clear evidence of a higher power, which they haven't so far

I think it is the usual problem: People are never challenged in their believes when they are around their peers. With that confidence they are calling in and it gets ugly very quickly. In his case, he additionally lacks the necessary discussion skills to engage with somebody like Matt. You see that very often in those calls.
