They interviewed Jackie about this. He said they actually had to film the whole thing twice because he and Je Li moved too fast for it to be filmed properly.
Not only that, both he and Jet Li have said that they were both very comfortable with each other because they didn't have to do so many retakes.

Another great Yuen Woo Ping choreographed fight. This fight is the only reason to watch this movie. For years before this movie came out, the public wanted to know who was best Jackie Chan or Jet Li and I think Woo Ping did the best thing and basically made he fight a draw, showcasing how talented both guys were at that time. Jackie Chan was like 8-10 years older than Jet Li and slowing down a little bit but still Jackie Chan is the man. Best Stuntman ever! Clown Prince of Kung Fu! Jet Li is one of the greatest Wushu champions and turned in some great performances as Wong Fei Hung, Chen Zhen and Huo Yuen Jia. In my opinion Jackie Chan’s Drunken Fist slaps Jet Li’s. Jet Li’s speed and grace in his Wushu and Tai Chi styles are amazing! So I’m glad they made it a draw in the end. They honored both actors/martial artists and ultimately, I think they honored fans of both.
Hey Bobby, this fight does end in a draw. After they both fell, they got back up and the two teenagers more or less stopped the fight, then they decided to join forces to fight a greater evil.

I remember being super disappointed in this movie and that I expected a lot more from these two, but now rewatching this its actually a pretty cool fight, very even and they use a bunch of different signature moves, don't know how they could had done this better. Also it's a draw, nobody wins, as both characters are 'good'. :)
In HK they r both great stars but in US Jacky is greater. In real life and in the characters they are playing Jet should have won. Jet li trained in Wushu while Jacky only in Acrobat school. In this movie Jet played incarnation of Sun Wu Kong, the Monkey God while Jacky played Liu dong bin, only 1 of the 8 immortals. Monkey God is certainly stronger then 8 immortals combined. The Monkey wreck havoc in heaven beating all the gods.
I liked what u did when immitate the Praying Mantis stance. Just wanna share somethings I've learned In the KUNG-FU Magazine 2008 featuring Jet Li and Jackie Chan with a free Poster. :-) This movie is originally for Jet Li where in e played ask the monkey King and the monk was just a secondary character. Then he was looking for a Master for the young man, Jason, the Kung- Fu fan kid. The script writer, the mind this (John Fusco - If I remember it right)thought of using the Drunken fist wherein he had the idea to take the actor fr the role was no otherless but Jakie Chan. He made a HISTORY.
Then in aninterview wih Jackie, he said that the director told them tk slow dosn cuz they can't be see. In the camer, they moved to fast. The same thig was said to Jet Li in "The Kiss of the Dragon" In the TKD, Jet Li said, we were taught to move fast. "We move 7 times fster than other people" (soemthing like that). If you would look into the behind the scense you would see how fast they were moving compare to the movie itself. And some people did not like the movie and the fight scenes. Well, it was ment for the whole Family. Rated GP.
You know what I had a dream of this film long ago. This was a destied one. Ya. Me. I suddenly remember it. It's not new for me to see things that is happening but I saw them in my dreams. I am not playing prophet here but I have to say it. So what was that specific scene??? The Magical Staff moved for itself or as the Monkey King orderded it to fight the Jade Emperor. I saw that clip in my dream. Its just unbelievable. I know, u are doubting too.
I felt envy with the guy with our two Idols. I wanted to cry in tne cinema while watching. Before this movie, of course I had my own idea. But it was far from this one. I eve. Wanted to make a spoof for this, I wwould plag te role of Jet Li then Jackie's role would be played by a friend of mine who look lie Jackie Chan. Ya he looks like the young version.

Yeah Jackie didn't invent drunken Kung Fu, that style has been taught in the Shaolin Temple of China for thousands of years throughout Chinese history.
Rivyn Daniel aaaahm Drunken Fist had its own history based on the first movie. The choreographer of this film was the smae choreo and drirector of the Drunken Master 1. Part two was directed by Lau-Kar Leung, the two teamed up for the Choreo.
Also he uses more than just drunken fist. Watch his hands he still uses his main kung fu 5 animal styles

Once upon a time in china part one final fight jet li vs other kung fu master pretty much equal to this one but better because there was effects but fight scenes were real demonstration of kung fu and it is insane one of the best fights in kung fu movies generally
