I actually almost never watch review videos, mainly to avoid FOMO 😅, but I actually love watching your reviews because of how thoughtful they are and how well you explain yourselves. Thanks for continuing to put out content! And this game does actually trigger my FOMO a little, mainly b/c my husband is NOT a gamer but just starting to get his pilot's license so maybe I can convince him to try this ✈
As one part of a couple that loves cooperative games and quick games, I can't wait to get my hands on this! Thanks for the quick review, and hopefully it will be available more widely soon!
Thanks for making this video. I'll admit at the start of Gen Con, this game was not on my radar, but by the end of the Con after seeing a line for it every single morning I was intrigued. A line, mind you I could see from my booth. 😮 Anyway, as I said, I was intrigued, not enough to get a copy right then and there, but enough I might get one through my FLGS when it hits retail. Much like you two I tend to prefer more competitive games but I'm not opposed to the occasional co-op game, especially if it is well done enough. This game looks like it is solid enough that by spreading my potential plays of it across multiple partners I could see getting enough life out of it. In short, thanks for your opinions on this one, it is help in my decision-making process for this one. 🙂
My wife is learning to fly out at Lilydale at the moment, so this game might just hit her sweet spot - looks good. Looks like it's due in Australia in Q4 this year, so will keep checking the games stores or maybe at PAX.
This is such an awesome and thematic game! I was lucky enough to grab a copy at Gen Con (thankfully I could order ahead of time to pickup at the con). I haven't gotten into the extra modules yet but am looking forward to giving them a try
I think because of the accent on the e at the end of the company's name it should be pronounced scorpion mas-keh. Great overview that makes me wish i had a gaming partner to play these fun 2p games. Decrypto is one of my favourite games so anything by the company certainly deserves a second look
The theming really bothers me with the limited communication between pilot and copilot, along with needing to clear the runway yourselves as pilots as that's something that'd be taken care of automatically by air traffic control. For the amount of care that went into this from the thematic side of things with the outstanding production, those two decisions stand out like a sore thumb to me and ruin the whole.
I dont see limited communication as simulating the pilot and copilot unable to talk - you CAN discuss at times. It is more to simulate time being critical within a turn based framework. You can only communicate a certain amount within each time segment, and then have to trust each other to do the right thing.
My problem is that pilots in any situations like this would be vocalizing each thing they do, with the pilot making requests that'll be repeated back by the co-pilot verbatim as they are done. So it just doesn't fit for me, mixing limited communication with hidden information is wholly unthematic. @@saluk7419
The game doesn’t claim to be a flight simulator. Some things are abstracted to make the game work. After playing the game about 10 times so far (easy to do since each game is so short), I would agree that the element of the game with the weakest thematic integration is the communication restrictions between the pilot and co-pilot. Those communications are absolutely necessary to make the game work though, it would be far too easy otherwise. That rule also eliminates quarterbacking.

You're wearing a Rahdo t-shirt. I have one, too!
Thank you so much for showing us this game, hope to get it at Essen in October and maybe see you both there ;-)

When I was a kid I wanted to be a pilot. This game looks so cool. It's on my wishlist.
We must have this game now! This looks absolutely brilliant. Thanks for sharing!

Sounds fun! As much as you both travel together this game is perfect!
Amy and Maggie, thank you for this great game walkthrough!
I'm very excited for this game!
Looks like this is worth all the hype it's been getting. I look forward to hopefully trying it out some time.
This looks fantastic! Only thing missing is a solo mode 🙂 I may have to pick this up anyway to play with my son.

Looks fun! and thematic as hell

Preordered it to play with a pilot friend at gencon and it was a bit hit.

Haha, thanks!

As the dice are rolled in secret I just know my gaming partner will cheat and I will never know

It is not you clearing the sky. Placing dice on these spots means you are communicating with the tower to clear the sky for your incoming plane.
@@smiler63 That'd be taken care of whether or not the pilots were in communication with the tower or not.
