Never played a dark souls game, but I played Bloodborne, and call me a fucking casual but my body is so fucking ready.

I no longer feel bad about having to wait until official release day, as I have experienced no frame drops like the ones shown here. The swamp was just a typical pain in the ass, not a Blighttown revisited pain in the ass.

DARKSOULS REVIEW
Overall, the community is easy going and the players are kind to one another. You will find yourself being helped throughout the game with powerful npc’s and fair mechanics. Other players will also be available to summon and will protect you from harm. This is a game for people who want to take it easy and enjoy themselves. If you are interested in hardcore game I would suggest you turn to a more complex game like Borderlands.
With that being said, be sure to check out Dark Souls III if you enjoy games:
that are easy to learn
that don’t have steep learning curves
that will tell you where to go
that don’t screw you over with unfair 1-hit combos
that have a story you don’t have to find out on your own
Players are kind to one another? Everyone in dark souls 3 uses the most overpowered weapons and then taunt you once you get killed, the community is cancer

Do you still get slowed down by locking onto enemies? Unable to strafe outside of the locked on mode, or just bland combo system and dodging as opposed to blocking/feigning/directional attacks.

The last thing I(and I am sure others) wanna see is some vid saying all 'All Dark Soulz Bosses Solo No Damage MLG Edition' and launch it to see someone circling the bosses from 75 yards out, on one of those swagway hoverboard things spamming some soul geyser like spell until they drop and act like it's some show of skill. I cannot stand that.
But hey, maybe I'm unreasonable.
I've never played using magic, I never even attuned pyromancy. But the videos I've seen definitely make it look easier. It's either run up and shove a spear up a demons rectum or jog around shooting fairy dust.
+Nick Tucker agreed , I use magic but its usually only to buff my weapon or to get rid of swarms of enemies like in dark souls 2 against that rat boss in the grave of the saints, I hate the pvp invaders that spam the same spells while rolling away, in my opinion dex weapons are the best since their fast and require little stamina its always funny when a guy with the fume ultra greatsword invade and I parry him and get the kill with my rapier
I had most trouble with pure magic build in this game. I even had to switch to physical and fire weapons for few bosses.
Yeah man...I completely agree. I don't care what people say, those lvl 100 million players who kill bosses in 1 shot with a magic blast are just showing off a great flaw in the game. Grinding your character to a point where u can one shot a boss is an example of patience and not skill

Two questions Karak if you or someone else happens to know. Is power stance still in the game or has weapon mastery replaced this? Did you try doing a range only bow build in the game? I know they made using bows faster without having to manually target.

did they fix something with the frame rate in the three years since this review because like Blighttown in the first game the Frame Rate is thankfully not bad at all
I'm about 30 hours into the game and passed the swamp area a while ago. I haven't experienced any major frame rate drops below 25 fps at the worst of times. I am running an average gaming PC with an FX-6300, R9 280, and 8GB RAM. I think they either patched those issues or they must be hitting other hardware harder. Then again, I'm not recording footage simultaneously. Amazing game so far and better then all the others in the series except when it comes to boss difficulty. They bosses are cool but just don't seem to have enough health because the fights are short and it takes far fewer attempts.

Thomas Smyth well the 280 is overall a better card but the gap isn't that far. I see no reason why you should be having major issues. I finished the game with little to no issues, with the exception of known bugs in the game. What is your typical fps look like?

4:02 Those death sounds were reused from Bloodborne.
+Max Buttrill While they Are similar, theye not reused. I noticed this myself when i heard a monster dying. The first bit was very much like Bloodborne, but the entire soundfile in itself isn't. I've spend over 700 hours in Bloodborne myself so those sounds are printed into the back of my skull.

Draik Yeah, you're right. They are not the exact same. It just kind of reminded me of the death sounds of some of the villagers at the beginning of the game.
Max Buttrill I actually like it when they reuse certain things. Gives sort of a nostalgic feeling, and something that reminds you that the franchise is still what it used to be. Good example is the Asylum Demon mob they added in the game.

It's great, man. You'll have a really rough time getting good at it but it will become extremely satisfying once you get the hang on it.

A bit late to the party (binge watching your vids) but regarding the fps in the swamp and other areas Ive played several playthroughs on ps4 and on my PC with an AMD 270 and i7 core and I have never noticed any fps drops.

I want to get into these games, but I just can't. It's not the difficulty itself. I don't mind having to get better at the game and I will admit killing the few bosses I did kill felt satisfying.....but I still end up being bored at the end.
It isn't anything wrong with the game, but I just don't see the incentive for dealing with the difficulty worth it. Some players can derive enjoyment DIRECTLY from overcoming hardship, but I grew up right when games with story elements started becoming more popular. Most of my enjoyment usually comes with some sort of story or adventure I enjoy having...Guess that's why I'm a D&D fan as well. Challenge alone doesn't satisfy me. For me, a satisfying challenge is the cherry on top of an already fun adventure rather than what I get all of my fun from. If I was more interested in the game's lore, locations, or weaponry, I'm sure I would have grinded this game until I got gud, but unfortunately, this game will just be another game I play just because my friends do.
I would be inclined to agree if I didn't think CoD sucked ass.

I spent the most time playing DS 2, but nothing compares to the feeling of hopelessness trying to learn how the game works in DS 1.
PS The Bed of Chaos will always be the cheapest, most frustrating boss I have ever encountered in any video game.

Yeah the first Dark Souls game was a masterpiece. I quite enjoyed Demon Souls too but DS1 was what got me hooked! Completed it using every class and pushed the game to it's boundaries. Faith/Sorcery + Dexterity were my favourite classes. Bring back the Balder Side Sword!!!!! Oh and I hope the drakes in this game aren't pathetic like in DS2, really didn't like that game...
+Slaver Bed of chaos was a bitch, no doubt. But I figured out a sequence which would result in either none or just one death when attempting to kill her/it. Eagle shield fully upgraded, stamina boost, and light armour. Go left first, time it correctly then head to the right side running with your shield up. Once that is done, move carefully to the front of her and simply roll of the edge (slightly to the right). Do not hang around the holes in the ground as, well, I'm sure you know what happens Lol.

Strange you had frame issues in the swap, I haven't encountered any in 100 hours of gameplay on 2 970's at 1440p.

For example I would never play a racing game with mouse and keyboard because a controller feels vastly superior. A gamepad is just another peripheral for pc like headphones or a steering wheel. thought about some changes they could make a while. In that time I thought that Bows and Crossbows shouldn't have infusions and I'm glad they did that even if it's only just slightly compared to other factors. It's not exactly for balance reasons, but I just cannot rationalize how a weapon that requires mechanical usage and fires an arrows would actually imbue an arrow with anything maybe except sorcercy. It just makes the world a little more coherent.

Currently doing my first playthrough of DkS2 (SotFS) and while I'm having a really good time, I miss the mysterious and oppressive atmosphere of the original, so I'm hoping that DkS3 is satisfying in that regard

While I can see why this game would fall into the buy now category for me personally Soul games always fall in the wait for sale category roughly when i can find it for about $30 just for the fact story is just as important as gameplay to me i just don't like their style of making you read about the lore and trying to figure it out with that said I might have to rent this a few times just to get my fix while waiting for the price to drop cause this 1 looks better than the others at a first glance to me

I want to play a game not watch a movie. 7lightsaber69 There is plenty of story that exists out side text descriptions, the difference is everything isn't conveniently revealed to you by some generic villain. A the bottom of a flooded city a mound of human corpses should give you an idea of what happened, using your head and a little imagination should never be a negative. Everything from the condition of locations to appearance of armors, architecture and bosses can be telling a story. Just because you don't get it doesn't mean it doesn't hold some significance.
Reason ds2 was unplayable on pc(for me), keyboard+mouse controls customization were simply left out of the game. how about this one?

You know it's really sad that they probably aren't making another Dark Souls or even a sequel to Bloodborne. I just started playing this series and fell in love with it. I'm not much of a completionist but I got the platinum trophy for this because I was so addicted. Definitely thinking about playing DS2 because that's the only one I haven't played yet.

I've heard that there will be a demon souls remaster
dark souls 2 is probably the longest one, especially if you get the Scholar version with all the dlc. It has some not so great level design at certain points, but overall is worth playing.
+Tiger Festivals yeah I just finished Scholar of the First Sin on ps4 and I definitely noticed how inferior it is to the other Souls games. Level design wasn't great and it was much more linear. Also the boss fights weren't anything special either and there were too many of them and they were mostly very easy. It's definitely my least favorite of the series. I guess it just felt like a huge step back because I had just played Ds3 and Bloodborne before it. Even Dark Souls 1 was less clunky than 2 imo.

For what I've seen I think it's a lot faster but stamina gets depleted a lot faster, so you still have to be methodical and planning your stamina use will be a bigger struggle. Idk I may be spoiled by NG+s tho

Good review mate. I'm not gonna lie, that performance issue you mentioned has me fairly nervous. I have a 6700k and 980Ti but will be playing this on my ROG Swift, ala 1440p resolution. There ain't no amount of G-Sync goodness that's gonna make 12fps feel good. Ouch!
