Calling something "the Dark Souls of insert anything being reviewed here affected the development of Dark Souls III. Not in a way of cranking up the difficulty, but with all the attention Dark Souls 3 was made to be more accessible to new plays and combined the best elements of the previous installments. Dark Souls 3 is crisp and haunting, build from the ground up for the new consoles. The only thing that falls short is the narrative. Not in the quality but in the presentation. Dark Souls lore is something you have to piece together with flavor text and conversations to get the full effect of the world they have built. With such a difficult game series, I'm sad to see it go but am happy that I completed Dark Souls!

Who is your favorite and least favorite boss in the entire Dark Souls series, and why?
The Completionist my favorite is the soul of cinder and my least is the gaping dragon
Favorite is definitely The Nameless King. While he IS difficult, the fight is dynamic and incredibly rewarding. I love it.
Least Favorite is Bed of Chaos because...well... Bed of Chaos
The Completionist My favorite boss in the series is Slave Knight Gael. His design is beautiful, his attacks are brutal and elegant, his music is grand and spectacular, and his story is amazing. He's the last fight of the series and the best. The spectacle of his fight is wonderful with the Dark and the lightning, with each phase getting progressively harder. There is no other boss I would rather have as the final boss of the series.
My least favorite boss in the series is the covetus demon. He's boring, dull, his attacks are slow and easy to dodge, and he dies in like 6 hits.
The Completionist Looking Glass Knight in DS2, goddamn is that a nice ass boss.
Fav is the dancer. She was so cool to see. Least fav was Aldrich
I remember my girlfriend saying just hit him and then move so he doesnt hit you on the nameless king like I hadn't thought of that shit before
😂 girls be saying that type of stuff when your playing a game but don’t know how to play it themselves
My friend used to say 'just don't be where they hit' when we used to engage in jolly cooperation. Not many things in life made me want to smack him over the head with a controller more than that. Even worse, he could do it and I kept getting hit.
@@ravaen87 It sounds like he was telling you his version of "git gud"
@@cabbage385 I want to say yes, but I don't think so, because he was just naturally that good, I'm pretty sure he was just trying to give me honest advice :D

Gael has entered the chat
Midir has entered the chat
I don’t know, Gael was pretty easy for me, and it’s not like I’m a particularly good player
Tennessee Bear Agreed, Gael isn’t the worst imo. Definitely more difficult than Nameless tho
Gael I found extremely satisfying to fight. He's exactly what a final boss should be, on par with the Soul of Cinder and his Gwyn form showing hella nostalgia to the first game's final boss. He's predictable, but you can't assume you'd just flat out be able to dunk him effortlessly. His moves are all over the place but combo together, his health makes him just a tank without a care in the world, and his second phase just makes the lore of the game even more intense. He goes Hollow in the middle of the fight after discovering the Blood of the Dark Soul comes form him and then literally becomes the physical personification of the Dark Soul itself. WE. KILL. THE DARK SOUL. Like fuck! In the lore of the game, that's intense!
@alsimard Honestly the first phase is the only slightly annoying part of Nameless. His second phase is pretty damn easy, his attacks are insanely well telegraphed. They deal a a ton of damage though so it kinda balances out I guess.
I think a lot of people have trouble with Nameless because some of his tells aren't entirely obvious but he has a different kind of momentum.

This game looks good, might have to try it out
Fuckin hate you /s

71 deaths, 66 hours somehow doesn't feel right for 4 playthroughs, especially with all that covenant grinding.
66 hours feels way short... I have a file on new game plus 4 that's over a hundred hrs despite the last couple runs being beat in about 13 hrs a piece.
The next 2 playthrough is not that long. Only the crap covenant farming. I did many of the covenant farm with a rando where we kill eachother for a few covenants reward. Easily done in 3-4 hours. Also "hard" enemies like nameless king becomes crap easy once you know how to strafe and drink next to him once he stops.
I must have put in 200+ hours and didn't come anywhere close to platinum.
John Killinger lol then your kinda bad I just finished it Wyrm93 you can check and only took 80 hours...
@@AndrewAnstrom so you can beat runs in like 13hrs but he can't?

Shit midir
And Gael, and the dancer, and pontiff, and freide, and the champ, etc.

Nameless took me around 20 tries or so but I was able to beat midir and Gael first try, theres something about nameless for me...
The more you play the more difficult nameless becomes. I swear.
You can't say you completed Dark Souls 3 unless you beat it blindfolded, with a rockband guitar, using your feet, Soul level 1, and unarmed. *filthy casual*

Nater thats rather funny 😜
That's quite literally impossible
You mean the DK bongos
There's actually someone who beat dark souls with a guitar
71 deaths? Jesus man. That's basically 1 death an hour at 66 hours played.
That's so much better then I will ever be at dark souls lol
Than
It's cause he lied. I'm not sure why he would lie but he just obviously did. Look at his trophy dates at the end, this took him significantly longer than 66 hours and nobody is going through 4 NG+ cycles and only dying 71 times.
He likes to make up numbers for that card at the end. He claims to have beaten the pantheon of hallownest with all 4 bindings on at the same time which I highly doubt
@@Storm1Trooper5 I haven’t played dark souls but pantheon of hollownest with all bindings is near impossible unless he did them one at a time.
Update: I played dark souls and one playthrough took me 60 hour sooo yeah.
@@mr.potato4371 yup very very few people have been able to do it. Jirard would be considered a legend in the community if he really did the full Pantheon with all bindings
*about your personal completion criteria* I'm so proud of you. Idk if you saw my comment but I posted about how worried I was that you were stressing yourself out about what children was saying about how you play, what you play and who you partner/advertise with like you don't work hard and need to eat. I'm so glad you're putting less stress on yourself even if it's just your personal competition criteria.
It's something that's been struggled with for sure. Glad to have you in my corner. :)
probably mentioned somewhere in the comments. But the mechanic of summoning another player online to serve as a boss fight has been done before in the series. The Mirror Knight in DS2 could summon a player to fight you instead of the phantom npc, and though not technically a dark souls game, Demon's Souls also had that mechanic in the monk fight in Latria.

0:55 has my vote for Completionist Moment of the Year. Its been a while since i mindlessly giggled from a youtube video
Sunny D is good
my ability to play games drastically changed after dark souls 3. i play every and all games on the highest difficulty now and it’s so worth it
Same
Try playing any soul again after Nioh. The games will be in slow motion.
@@leglockcontrol nioh isn't actually that fast paced and i consider it easy compared to dark souls yes you do take a lot of damage but there are so many ways to prevent getting hit or even getting in melee range plus even if you are in melee range its easy to stun lock only trouble are bigger enemies but they aren't hard to deal with either after you get used to it but nioh 1 and 2 have far more bullshit moments compared to dark souls and bloodborne
@@redjaygaming9757 After beating Nioh in the hardest difficulties and made some self made challenges, I came back to DS3 since it was the only one I only beat once and left it since I didn't have the time back then, and I can tell you I died waaaay less than I thought, I beat the game 4 times and did everything I wanted to do and the game was in some degree easy for the must part. Now I am trying The convergance mod who looks and feels very polished and I am sastisfied with the QOL made in there.
TLDR: After Nioh 1, DS3 was easiest to beat for me.
@@leglockcontrol bro nioh 1 is easy, if you have to set the game to harder difficulty that already means the base game is already to easy for you, thats like me trying to say dark souls is harder cause i beat it ng+7 with the sword hilt. I believe dark souls is harder cause the enemies punish you more and there is a good variety of enemies to keep you on your toes. Nioh is to easy simply cause you can range legit everything to death and the game can't answer for it. Sure you died less in dark souls after beating nioh on the "hardest difficulty" but thats cause you are comparing a base game (dark souls) to a difficulty you set to max and put challenges on yourself (nioh) not really a fair comparison now is it, also like it or not nioh has the dark souls formula so your skills probably translated pretty well when go back to dark souls 3. Now this is all opinion base and you can believe nioh is harder but you have to admit your comparison pretty stupid considering you weren't comparing it to ng+7 for dark souls and you never did any special challenges or rules when playing dark souls. I believe base dark souls 3 compared to base nioh 1 and 2, dark souls 3 is harder. To struggle in nioh makes no sense if you are a seasoned vet of soulsborn games simply cause nioh offers you way to many tools to cheese or make combat easy sure at the start it maybe harder but by the time you are done with the first mission shit gets super easy super fast, dark souls the difficulty slowly rises and almost never falls that goes for all 3 games as well. However i do like the online coop better in nioh cause i prefer quick search options to the soap system also nioh is still really fun like dark souls which I'm sure we both can agree on.
Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne truly hold a special place in my heart
More like fart
The whole series man. Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 (and now Sekiro) are all very special games. Amazing experiences imo
@@Walamonga1313 I agree my guy, but I didn't play demon's souls or sekiro. DS and DS2 were nice but it was more rage inducing than fun, like I kinda had to force myself thru it. Whereas BB and DS3, I had a good time even in the hardships
I started playing Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne on the same day(I first played them earlier last year when the pandemic was really amping up and I had to stay at my grandfather house in Long Island to stay safe and we first came out during spring break so there was not much to do BUT game) and I definitely had more fun with DS3 than Bloodborne. BB was too fast for me.
@@Walamonga1313 i notice dark souls 2 isn't in your list pretty cringe
I personally think Dark Souls 3 was the hardest for me, and I’ve been playing Dark Souls since October, 2011. It was a day-one buy. Also, I absolutely ADORE Bloodborne and I think that was the easiest Souls game for me. Just my opinion
Did you 100% Bloodborne?
Thats becuase Dark Souls 3 is the hardest. after dark souls 2 came out and everyone said it was too easy, fromsoft was determined to make a game that would challenge even the best souls veterans, and they kinda overdid it and forgot about the new players.
@@Walamonga1313 is it actually DS3 level of difficult to 100%
@@NinjaMaster-og8ti how did they forget the newcomers? A good portion of the combat mechanics were balanced for them. Apart from just basic improving.
@@NinjaMaster-og8ti I disagree, but also there’s nothing wrong with making a game for the people that have been following your series for a while. Not everything needs to be easily available for new people
My top 3 Ds3 bosses are:
3.) Nameless King
2.) Abyss Watchers
1.) Slave Knight Gael
I would put Pontiff Sullivan in there somewhere. That is by far one of the smartest boss fights ever designed in a souls game. The way you learn his next attack by watching that ghost thing while still trying to keep up with the Pontiff is fucking ingenious.
Grehn exactly. Tbh I thought pontiff was harder than nameless. Nameless wasn’t that hard (for me at least). Abyss watchers were by far one of the easiest boss battles for me. Dark souls 3 was my first souls game and I beat the abyss watchers second try ever.
And pinwheel
But where is darkeater McDonald’s
No love for friede?
I really respect your focus and drive. Completing all those time-consuming games is a major achievement. And don’t you ever let people say it isn’t. Congratulations
Only 66 hours for 4 complete run throughs even with the grinding at the end is pretty impressive.
Darth Vanquish for real, my first playthrough took me like 50 hours lol, and Ive played through like 5 more times and now have 150 hours
and only 71 deaths???
TBH, he saw Alex playthrough the whole base game, he has extensive knowledge of DS1 and 2, and it is Jirard after all.
Yeah, I died almost that many times on Midir at level 140, he's getting pretty good at games, I couldn't believe when he said he only had 4 deaths in Metroid Prime 3.
No joke im sitting on 700 hours ng +4 125 pvp all damn day
Ha only 71 death I only had 1.... Million deaths...
Yeah no kidding and it was 71 deaths over 4 playthroughs too. I had hundreds if not thousands on just my first and only playthrough. I felt like I died 71 times to the last two bosses of the final DLC alone. You definitely have to be pretty good at games to be a completionist...
imo, knowing most of the game beforehand still doesn't make it MUCH, if any easier.
Ever play DS2? It's easy as hell
Very common to die that much.
word has it that pewdiepie is at 0 deaths :)
Just 71 deaths?
Neo2266 I find that very hard to believe as well lol
it turns out Jirard is very good at games
Yeah, that seems a bit too many
Neo2266 when all you do is use a straight sword and shield with the knight class it becomes really easy since that shield blocks all non magic damage if I remember
Neo2266 Bear in mind he'd already been through the game at Least once before making this video
One of the saddest, subtle moments in Dark Souls III - telling Anri where you'd found Horace after having to kill him. If you go back there later, you get to see that she'd built a cairn for him and setting Prism Stones on top, tying into her conversation earlier where she mentions that she'll lay them out to guide him.
Even sadder fact, if you go through Anri's quest, and have it so that she does fight Aldritch with you, she ends up going hollow where Horace did
Wow, Jirard spent less playtime completing the game than I've spent on my first playthrough.
Same. I just finished my first playthrough and it took me 140 hours.
Rushed through it
@Anthony Rubio it doesn't suck though
Sorry, Demon Souls Did the "player is the Boss" before Darksouls 3 did. Glad they brought it back though :3.
lupvirga they had a boss in dark souls 2 who summons players through his mirror shield
As did the looking glass knight in DS2
The addition of a Portrait Guardian with tons of health and healing just makes this fight unplayable for me, though. The other player just spends the match running, buying time for their healing assassin to respawn.
Nick Clinite never had this problem, nor have I been the problem, sorry that you keep getting assholes. Although I’ve never known the painting guardian to have much health at all. Honestly I’ve always had to do my best to babysit and keep him alive.

I agree, 66 hours is nothing... Sorry but I don't buy it
Especially with the grind for those covenant items (though admittedly the grind probablt wasnt as bad at game launch)
Jacob Hobart so why would he lie about the time? To try to “impress” Dark Souls getgud fans? Maybe it’s just his full time job, so he doesn’t have to separate his playing sessions like a usual player.

What secret ending?
He's making fun of Jirard over his review of the previous game.
Jirard isn't perfect, people; he'll forget stuff because he didn't know they existed.
For me, this game had the best boss fight in the entire series. Gael was an amazing boss, it truly felt that you were fighting a guy that survived to the end of the world becoming something akin to a demigod.
I had that same feeling of sadness after finally beating Dark Souls 1. It was the only one in the series I hadn't beaten yet thanks to the horrors of Blight Town, and the hype surrounding Ornstein and Smough made me hesitant to push forward. And ya know, they were deserving of that hype. Had to gain a few levels, learn how to parry in the process, find out Ornstein can't be parried, grind a few more levels, and eventually learn how the bosses work meaning I probably didn't need all those extra levels in the first place but screw it I got 'em let's move on.
But when I faced up against Gwyn, saw his bedraggled corpse flailing about, noticed how easy he was to parry... I felt hollow. The music was a good fit for the mood I had after mercilessly beating the last boss of the game, last boss of the series to me, to an embarrassing pulp. There was nothing left for me to attain, no new journey, no horizon to chase. I had done it. And there was nothing left.
I suppose challenge runs are still available to me, but never again can I step foot in Boletaria, Lordran, Drangleic, Lothric, or Yharnam without a strong sense of familiarity. I will be forever trapped playing the same game over and over again, each time losing some of the magic that enraged and then entranced me. From created something special in the Soulsborne series. Something that others tried to imitate, still others crafted love letters in the form of games, but none have truly captured the magic that Dark Souls wove.
In the end, I suppose the Linking of the Flame endings represent how Miyazaki came to feel about the series; the first time, it was a grand flame, with strong hope for a magnificent future. The second linking produced a somewhat smaller flame, but still brilliant and with faith in what was yet to come. The third linking was tiny; I mean look at us, we barely even catch light. The Age of Fire is at an end, and no matter how many more times the Fire is linked, it will never be as brilliant as before. The time has come for a new Age to usher itself in.
I think an important question you should ask yourself is: How would Dark Souls deliver a traditional story? Any more traditional storytelling than it already has would completely take away from the games' atmosphere. Not understanding what you're seeing is a big part of the Dark Souls experience, it gives a sense of wonder
No doubt one of the best parts of the series. You read and discover new info then piece it all together.
71 deaths total? I've died that many times today alone lol

Glowing0rb Indeed ..Almost forgot that one!. only in New game plus though.

2:40 I consider myself a VERY active member of the souls community since Demon's Souls and don't remember any hate on DS3 for being too accessible or too easy. Nor did I ever feel that way myself. Sounds a bit overdramatized if you ask me.
I've heard a lot of people complaining about it being too easy but I think that has more to do with the fact they played two whole ass other games before they got to this one. I played 3 first and thought it was pretty damn hard but didn't have much trouble with 1 which I heard was the hardest. The menus are nicer in 3 and the paths are a bit easier to navigate but apparently having no idea where to go and being confused by clunky menus and upgrades makes the game better.
I do remember it. But most of the hate is because "iTs A cOpY oF 1". These smooth brains can't comprehend that sequels are always building up on previous games' mechanics and items. To call it fanservice when it references things from the past games is idiotic, its like they expect it to be a completely new ip but have it keep the same name? But oh when Dark Souls 2 took stuff from 1 none of them complained. That's how I know they're just the salty DkS2 fanboys shitting on 3 because it's better than their precious failed experiment of a game.

Gotta love how all anyone wants to talk about is the difficulty, including the fans. Please tell me enough people see them for just being incredible action RPGs with near perfect visual, audio, mechanical and level design?
Did the epilogue soundtrack after SOC make you cry too?
That's the fake fandom. The "gitgud" retards and the "ehrmagerd I play Souls, I'm better than casuls" that ruined the Souls community once the first Dark Souls got popular. Demon's Souls had a much better, more secluded community. There were lots of assholes in game (scraping spear ptsd) but online you would've never heard any of the edgelords that plagued Souls until after DkS1 got mainstream. The true fans always mention what an experience these games are. The innovative online, the art design, the memorable soundtrack, the deep lore, the simple but addictive combat... Man I'm gonna miss this series.
EDIT: spelling
@@Walamonga1313 The gitgud retards are the fake fans? TF are you talking about? The entire community banded together saying "gitgud" because they wanted Dark Souls to be easier, compromising the emotions the game gives you... believe it or not, these games are designed around their difficulty. Oh hey, it's me.
Mad respect for the "personal completion criteria" part, though there were a few things that went unmentioned in the DS2 video I didn't mean anything bad by what I said, just that compared to other videos in this series it felt less "complete." Heck I'd have settled for a mere mention of the rings, map flames and the DLC rewards over you putting yourself through a no-death and like 10 straight NG+ runs (It ain't fun getting one-shot by most late-game bosses.)
That single part of this one shows me that you at least took on board what people said and had the spark one needs to turn criticism into something positive and complimentary to you as a creator. Dark Souls 3 was a great place to start for new comers. This was my first game in the action RNG genre I played completely. I started very badly where I needed help from my brother to beat all bosses in my first playthrough. After multiple playthroughs, I became better at it and I managed to beat all in-game bosses at level 1 in NG+7, plus Sister Friede, Midir, and Demon Prince in the DLCs. The game has so much replay value that it provides room to learn new tricks to fight bosses, new ways to traverse the environment, and to explore weapon builds and fashion souls. Overall, this game is one of my favorites since it is challenging, fair, and it has a deep lore in the story despite that I have to work hard to understand it. I enjoy the challenge in Dark Souls although this one is much tougher than DS3. In the future, I may plan to play DS2 to complete the Dark Souls trilogy experience.

Thank you sooooo much for appreciating the Deacons of the Deep! They are such an underrated boss. It's also one of my favorites. And also thank you for seeing how amazing and important the Lothric and Lorian boss fight is. They are brothers and they are together till the very end. If that isn't beautiful then I don't know what is. Amazing video. Thanks once again!
It's not underrated when you can literally run in and mass cleave your way to victory.
Difficulty isn't everything. The video even states they are easy and gives them points for other things like just being a particular kind of creepy.
The fact he likes deacons and not midir or nameless king is very odd and nonsensical lol
Midir is just a huge sponge with some okay moves. That boss has way too much HP. It's just boring to fight him. Nameless King is pretty cool but the first phase is once again boring to do every single time you retry, because it's not a very good fight (the first phase).
I mean, they have a cool soundtrack, but that’s it

This is the Dark Souls of Three-quel games!
...go sit in the corner and think about what you did.
Technically Dark Souls 3 has a harder gameplay ( boss have more combos etc ) and personally i finishd dark souls 1 with less death than in ds3...
I found ds1 more difficult, due to more confusing level design, more elaborate boss arenas, better enemy placement, and the enemies generally doing more damage, ds3 boss rooms are just flat rooms, while you can run past every enemy in the game
Give me a Dark Souls 1 boss arena and I'll match you an elaborate Dark Souls 3 boss arena. Also, you can run past just about every enemy in Dark Souls 1 too. Your view is probably biased because I assume you played 1 before you played 3. If I think back to my time with 1, I remember it as being incredibly difficult. But if I play it now after 900+ hours of Dark Souls 3, 1 doesn't even come close in difficulty to 3.
Defalt Everyone’s First souls game was probably their hardest considering they have to learn the mechanics of the souls series in the first game. All in all opinions are opinions even though the developers have stated that the enemies in 3 have harder/ longer combos
I played DS3 two times before I played DS1. I heard all the hype about O&S and I thought I was gonna get my shit pushed in, but I literally one-shotted them. Left me a feeling like that of blue balls. Yeah the level design in DS1 is more intricate but not really that complicated if you pay attention, it may "feel" harder to some because of the low quality of life compared to DS3.
I agree. I played through ds 1 twice, two completely different builds. It was easier than ds 3.
I remember my first fight with Frida. After many, MANY attempts I finially beat yout in phase 2, let go of my controller and tell my girlfriend that I finally did it. But something wasn't right in the corner of my eye. HOLY SHIT, that was phase 3. That was the best boss in DS3. You get used to two-phase bosses and when you think you've done it - that's where the real fun begins.
"nothing arder than the nameless king" triggers midir flashback
Why does everyone say midir is hard? I beat him my first try.
& I don’t mean to be “dark souls is easy” guy because it’s simply not true and I had more than my fair share of ass kickings, Hell, Vordt killed me like 11 times.
Montega Stepped-On :,( am I a joke to you?
@@bmomouse6859 Different people find different bosses hard, My mate dominates the abyss watchers but i found them hard af, But he sucks at Dragonslayer armour and I find him to be on par with Deacons. Maybe you're just really good and killing Dragons?
why does everyone think midir is so damn hard
Fav bosses for me, hands down, Sister Friede and Nameless King.
The hype factor of both those fights can't be beat
Gael still tops those for me, I would also put Soul of Cinder up there with them, even though he's not quite as difficult, his fighting style was the bane of my fat-rolling, miracle tank's existence.
I haven’t beat Friede, or even met her, but I totally agree with Nameless King. Abyss Watchers and Aldrich are also fantastic imo. I also really liked Dragonslayer Armour, even if I did think he was a bit to easy to be the third to final boss in the base game
No mention of Slave Knight Gael? **Insert certain man screaming "DISAPPOINTED!!!"**
Maybe left unmentioned to prevent spoilers?
Either that, or everyone has their boss that doesn't give them trouble where everyone else does.
For me. Its champion gundyr
@@DukeofGames50 For me it's Old Demon King, but I can understand why Gundyr is a pain in the ass to you. He jebaits you to punish an attack and then roundhouse kicks you. ODK just has that one shot attack at the end, and if you try and dodge his fireball attacks sometimes you just get caught in his hand and take all the damage. Gundyr is a better designed boss imo.
@@DukeofGames50 for me it's the hollow at the start of the game because my fucking switch controller turns the camera way too goddamn fast

I was like 5min from finishing the video when it got pulled down hahah
19:55 "There is no fight quite like this one in the series" It is been done years ago in Demon's Souls...
it took me basically 100 hours to collect everything outside the covenant items and +2 rings and a new game playthrough takes like 5 hours. Also to get twin princes plus lorians and lothrics swords you have to go to ng+3 regardless to collect every item on one guy without being dropped items
My favorite boss that has made it in all 3 is character creation ;)
Thats weird, I think its the first time I hear that DS3 was considered easier than the other games? Personally I thought it was about on par with the others, and the hardest it gets is definitely harder than any of the previous games, except maybe Bloodborne. The combat feels more aggressive overall, and the bosses get really wild and hectic. Also, the tutorial's boss, Iudex Gundyr, was probably the hardest first boss of the series, I felt that was a really bold move to put a legit fight like that right at the start of the game! I mean, bloodborne had something similar going on with Father Gascoigne, but you had a lot more room to explore and practice, and even level up before fighting him.
I think its less that the game itself is easier, and more that fans of the series have grown accustomed enough to the games that new games can never be quite as difficult as the first few ones were.
FrankieSmileShow how about instead of saying this game is easier, let's call it "More Fair" in terms of difficulty/risk/reward.
@@DukeofGames50 if you think ds3 is more fair, you've never played it. The game has the worst hitboxes of all three games.
Aditya Upadhye I agree with you wholeheartedly
Gundyr has a large window to nail him for free hits when you first trigger his fight and again when you trigger his second form. He has a lot of attacks with long recovery times and has trouble hitting at close range. His second form is week to fire so you can just cheese him with firebombs or pyromancery.
I dunno... I feel like bloodborne aside, ds3 is the easiest one, with ds2 being the least fair(but also the easiest to cheese thanks to life gems) but for me personally? Ds1 is the hardest, not because it's the First i played, in fact, aside from ds2 it was the last(i started with bb and then gone to ds3), it's just so clunky and the later bosses put you really on the line, and you don't do enough dps, they're gonna feel like tanks(artorias was my wall, quit the game there after 5 deaths, it was(the gameplay) too clunky for me, too much of a war of attrition (artorias) and the run to the fog gate took imho too long(sanctuary to elevator to arena)
It was starting to get frustratingly boring, whereas in ds3 that happened to me only against midir, and for Bloodborne, only with the cursed dungeon bosses(as well as ludwig, Lawrence and the well sharks)
But unlike ds1, i only quit against the dungeons.
And yes, if you're wondering: i died as much in ds3 and bloodborne as ds1, even though i had WAY more experience (almost 1k hours) under my belt with the souls series when i tackles onto ds1.
So far my favorite fight was the abyss watchers fight. The chills i got got the second the music started playing and the beautiful move set of the second stage combined with flaming sword. Nothing else comes close to them for me
THE REUPLOADONIST! :D
Doesn't "complete" rpgs often because they take too long.
Plays through the dark souls 3 campaign 4 times.
ok
Don b compared to rpgs this is a breeze in the wind. The main problem is the amount of grinding and boredom that can come from rpgs and the arbitrary things in them that just pad for time.
66 hours for 4 playthroughs is pretty short. Don't think most RPGs are that short
Don b Considering you can beat the game in 1 hour 30 *easily* and even earlier if you plan your playthough, you can easily get all 4 done in a day.
Well many rpgs dont even have an end. Dark Souls isnt an rpg though
It is an RPG.

PLease, do a demon's soul completionist episode!
Demon's soul already had the "invoque a player as a boss", way back in 2009, dark souls 3 just reused this idea! Not that i complain, but it should be pointed out! Lots of idea from dark souls 3 came from previous entries! The stormruler, the sword you use against yorm, also come from demon's soul!
Demon's soul still have the best boss in my opinions, they were all unique in some way!
True, the bosses were really unique, but a lot of the clunky and sort of frustrating mechanics served as a huge barrier to those experiences, plus demon's souls had its fair share of bad bosses as well, even if they were still unique. I feel like if they revisited the game with new design concepts that they ironed out in later entries, then it would likely be my favorite as well.
I think I heard demon souls servers were shut down so he wouldn't be able to do that.
there's no need to play online to complete demon's soul 100%! Covenents were not a thing in this one
Demon souls isnt dark souls.
it's not the same lore, but it's the same as any other fromsoft soul games
71 deaths?! You make me feel inadequate... Thanks Jirard.
tbh in the 300+ hours I've played I don't think I've even died 71 times. That being said, I have over 1000 hours total on the series, and dks3 is by far the easiest.
Is there a way you can see your death count in game?
Mahtari At least until you get to the DLC. The DS3 DLC is far harder than the main game.
itsalolmor you can in Dark Souls 2 but only in offline mode. The large stone wall in Majula has a death counter. But online it’s worldwide and it’s recently past 1 billion
OVERLOAD24 yes, I remember back in the day I thought the number was huge, I imagine today... But yeah, I meant in the 3rd one!
I, too, am the proud owner of a 100% completion rate for DS3 on steam. Cheers, mate - you're an inspiration.
Lothric and Lorian reminded me of the Toguro brothers. So I instantly wanted to bop them.

Oh right, fixed.
My favorite Dark Souls game is the first Dark Souls as it felt more fluent than Dark Souls II: Scholars Of The First Sin. Although it took me 60 hours to beat Dark Souls 1 compared to the 50 hours beating Dark Souls II: Scholars Of The First Sin, it still just felt like a more complete experience. I have not played Dark Souls III, but I have played the remaster of Demon Souls and that's pretty fun too. Even though I ain't a big fan of games that go past 30 hours for the main story, the Dark Souls games have been the only exception to the rule.
I think this is the best souls game
I still cannot get over how nerdy you look like without the bears in the intros

I've done it but I've been playing souls a LOT. A lot more to not consider Deacons one of the best loooll
@@Dravianpn02 The covenant item grind would take upwards of 10 hours. 66 hours to beat the game 4 times getting all rings (including questline rings). I’ve got like a collective 2K hours in this series and that would be a ridiculous challenge for me. This was his first playthrough(s) too.
@@esssss8415 I have around 1300 for ds2, 400 for dsr and almost 400 for DS3. Basically the same. Covenant items or not, Deacons of the deep is not a top tier boss lol. It's a nice idea and the aesthetic and initial shock of numbers is refreshing (a tiny bit) but that's about it.
@@esssss8415 if Deacons is challenging for someone who's played the previous two games and didnt completely rush the game up to the point of Deacons, then I dont see how it would be a challenge for anyone unless you just arent paying attention at all.
Also for ds2 I'm on ng+9, dsr is ng+13 with a new character on ng+4, ds3 is ng+8, I went to 13 because I was boss rushing for souls to attempt to max out my character. I dont like to dupe in games and don't really know how to do it anyways so I just kept going. Obviously it maxed out at 7 but it didnt matter. By that point ones character is a god anyways.
I decided to finally complete this one too. Those convenant items were such a pain. Why couldn’t you earn their tokens by defeating invaders too? Only Mound Makers gave that and it was an awesome incentive to fight invaders instead of just running to the boss fight.
I've played through DS1 and DS3 multiple times but I wouldn't necessarily say one is easier than the other, both are great experiences with their share of challenges.
Imo Dark Souls 3 is the easier game when it comes to overall difficulty (especially in just traversing the environment), but I also think it has some of the hardest bosses out of any souls game, on par with Bloodborne etc.
Honestly I really like that. I appreciate more difficult areas and I really love the Metroidvania style world design from ds1 but it was really disappointing to go through a really difficult and fun area only to find a really lame and/or easy boss at the end of it every time (the four kings and O&S are the only exceptions)
@@glctcthnkr8059 even those bosses are easy compared to the hard ds3, sekiro, and bloodborne bosses
tehCostHD yeah but they’re still hard enough to to be enjoyable. Also I forgot to mention that AotA fixed almost all of those problems
@some loser on the internet I can guess that if you're "halfway" through you haven't touched the chalice dungeons or at least not the higher tier ones. Good luck with those wholeheartedly lol. Some people gave up on platinum because of them.
im so glad there's other completionists out there like me people usually don't understand when i feel the need to platinum and 100% a game
How the hell did you get through 4 playthroughs of the game in just 66 hours? It took me close to 45 hours to get through my first playthrough and that was making sure I killed every boss, explored every area and maxed out my estus flask. It baffles me that you completed this game so quickly - good shit dude, I guess that’s why you’re called the completionist.
He most likely used guides, used previous game experience, and practice runs behind scenes. I feel like he kind of mistimed it, as most runs, especially normal speed runs are 2 hours, but for being a completionist should take 4- 6 times longer because of back tracking to certain areas you need to pick up certain things.
newgame+ can actually be done really quickly as you already have all your gear from newgame and have already learned how to kill all the bosses. Plus you don't need to bother with optional stuff like helping Siris or Greirat.

Correction: Halflight, Spear of the Church is not the only boss in the series that summons other players.
Dark Souls 2 had the Looking Glass Knight that did the same.
Only problem is, there was no real incentive to let yourself summon ala the covenant Spears of the Church. Thus, it ended up being NPCs being summoned a lot of the time.
Also, if you include Demon's Souls as part of the series, which it is in a meta Soulsborne level, the Old Monk from Stage 3-3 did the same, and was decently active back in the day.
So while the idea is cool, and well executed here, it is not their first time doing this.
"No other fight quite like it in the series"
Um demon souls did it first with the mad monk boss fight. Even in dark souls 2 the mirror knight boss could summon actual players from his shield if you were online.
