8 Years Later, Dark Souls 3 Is A TOTALLY DIFFERENT Masterpiece

- When anyone thinks of a Souls-like, FromSoftware's Dark Souls series comes to mind. When the recommendations come pouring in, it's often Dark Souls 3 that comes to mind (though the first game should immediately be next). Over eight years since its launch, the finale still holds up, even in this post-Elden Ring world.
Maybe it's the fact that it celebrates everything about the franchise till that point, paying homage to famous characters, locations and bosses. Perhaps the fluid combat and movement, alongside the addition of Arts for weapons and shields, continue to draw players in. It could also be a well-designed, well-paced, excellent Souls-like, not to mention some of the best-designed bosses in gaming history.
Whatever the reason, Dark Souls 3 continues to appeal to generations of players, and thanks to an active mod community, fans will never run out of ways to die. - เกม
Dark Souls 3 was my first ever Dark Souls game. It may sound trivial but it has literally changed my life. Not by it's story but by everything else. Music, visuals and art style, game design, level of challange and overall design of the difficulty. It literally changed the way I view video games but also life in general. The have been so many cases where I just refused to give up, be it in other games or in real life and I wasn't like that until I've beaten Dark Souls 3 for the first time. A character shaping experience.
W take
Bitter sweet it ruined all games for me… now sadly I’m just a fromsoft snob and play no other games lol except like nioh an couple games like that
Same here. Well said 🫡
Music is great to be fair
Play Sekiro. You will have second enlightenment
I fought Nameless King last night on NG+2 and had a fabulous time. This game is infinitely replayable.
and i completed my first SL1 run this week too!. Game slaps so hard. I always come back to play this game, and Pyro is sooooo much fun
You're right but I feel this way about all of the souls games and sekiro
One of the best game journeys i took in a game. Never wanted to end cemented the love for Souls games for me could even say an obsession. Just wowed by the art style, world, bosses, challenge and pretty much everything it brought to the table
I still run a playthrough everynow and then throughout the years. Literally just finished a run last week again lol. Seeing people online Co-oping and running invasions really makes me happy
I was literally just contemplating playing this game again after just finishing my third playthrough of DS1 last night. I guess GamingBolt has supplied me with my answer.
I only have 2 bosses to beat in the DLC, Gael and Midir, gonna finish it after I finish Metroid Prime on my Switch, I bought it recently for my vacation and have been addicted to that lately.
Gael is my favorite fight in all of the Souls series, epic feel, dynamic fight, epic open arena. I wish I could go back and face him for my first time again. ENjoy
Gael fight is too insane also my fav.Midir the first time made me throw my controller against the wall😂
Gael is probably the best boss fight Fromsoft has ever created
@@Shishiooodying right now at the nameless king...don't even wanna see how Gael is😂😂😂
@@blublugamingchannel Struggles are real😂 Gael fight is so good but to be honest not really that hard so I think u will be fine
What a masterpiece. I must have replayed this game 10 times all the way through it and loved it every time. Same with bloodborne they just feel timeless to me. I loved Elden ring but something about linear way ds3 was just epic.
Loved the twin princes fight, i lose purposely to repay it over and over. Unlike elden ring i cant recall a boss fight i look forward to but the openess makes up for it plus pvp colesium is a blast
Just finished DS3 main story and starting DLC soon. Taking a break to finish Days Gone first.
And I am still playing it right now
Hoping people were still playing this! Hope to see you all on the path to embers
Would love to get a resolution bump finally for this and DS2 on console. And of course Bloodborne, but that’s it’s own topic entirely. Lol.
100% yes
That's part of why we have pc. Console won't give you what you want
A resolution bump would be nice. I wish there was an official one.
@@nayyarrashid4661 yah they don’t look bad or anything. But seeing them nice and crisp would be pretty great. Especially since the consoles can handle it easily. At least Dark Souls Remastered is 1800p. Maybe we’ll get remasters of the others at some point as well.
@@iHaveTheDocuments lol. True. I feel like consoles are so PC like these days they should just give console players robust settings options like PC. They wouldn’t be able to sell people back a 20 dollar Director’s Cut upgrade, but they also don’t upgrade most games. If players could upgrade them themselves, every new gen you’d see a spike in sales for older titles as people posted which ones looked the best with higher settings. It’s a win win across the board.
Perfect timing! Just beat it today for the first time!
I just started my first playthrough a month ago. Yeah I am a dark souls newbie. Albeit I already played Bloodborne
I gotta try that Bloodborne I keep hearing about
I got platinum on PS4 when the game released... and recently I downloaded it on my ps5, 60 fps now! totally different game
masterpiece
0:37 top clip is from Archthrones.
PVP is great no backstab trick less laggy etc only issue is the PVP arena servers seem to be empty could never find a match
Some of the greatest boss fights ever. At its absolute best, Gael, Friede, Midir, Champion Gundyr, Nameless King - DS3 was AMAZING! And the game had some of the best music ever as well.
Midir... Great fight!??
@@Big_DaiOnce you get used to rhythm.
This game changed my life. I found ER way to easy compared to this. My most favourite game of the past 10 years. Everything about it is perfect, I even listen to the music sometimes.
Try soloing Journey 8 on Eldin Ring. Entirely different experience.
Journey 8 Malenia regenerates hp significantly with every hit she lands on your character, even if it's blocked by a shield.
I completed the game 4 times and took on the dlc. I killed slave knight gael and sister freid alone and it was the greatest feeling. Then I switched protons in my settings and it deleted my save entirely. 😭
Best Soulsborne game imho
Playing this again while Shadow of the Erdtree gets another necessary performance patch. Get it together Fromsoft!
I love DS3 but the more I play it the more I hate it’s areas and honestly playing through the first half of the game is a complete slog for me. Only reason I still replay it nowadays is so I can fight the end game bosses
I just dislike the Crucifixion woods and Farron Swamp a little but the rest of areas are still good. I usually like the close ended dungeon crawling more except for that Irithyl Dungeon. I feel like dark souls vibe gets doubled or tripled inside the buildings more.
I remember complaining about my father for buying games sales here and there and never play it.
Boy I was so wrong.
Dark Souls 3 is my first souls game and I loved it instantly. But, I bounced off it hard and could not overcome it at all. I went off to play Elden Ring, came back and totally steamrolled it. Goodness me this is a great fucking game! It is upsetting how much hate this entry gets from the (yes those) gatekeeping idiots. Overall it is the tightest entry in the series with no BS enemies, no BS areas really and the bosses range from decent to incredible.
If you see this it’s your sign to do a sl1 run
In some ways its still my favourite From Software game.
Masterpiece!
A fantastic game no one can dispute, elden ring fixed all of its missed comings
Disagree. Elden Ring got rid of the amazing 3v3 PVP that DS3 has. ER PVP balance is very poor. Also, provided too many graces/bonfires thus removing the tension that was so prevalent in DS games.
To sum up ER PVP is boring and too basic/amateur.
The PVE experience is beautiful but lacks tension offering a world to explore without caution
Doing a first time run right now, game is demented in terms of difficulty...Elden Ring is a actually super easy in comparison
I prefer bloodborne but ds3 is good too. I just wish from software figured out how to put a decent story into their games and present it like other games like god of war or horizon or baldurs gate 3 do. None of their games story does very much to impress. I like bloodbornes the most of them all because it was original but it still didn’t do a good job of telling its story. It’s like from software just don’t like to tell the story and prefer you infer your own from a few clues. And I hate that.
The creatures designs are so beautiful in the game imagine the directors make a Dragons based game you could play as Dragons like Smaug that would be so awesome
The game has two main issues for me.
1- The visuals, everything is white, from the start to the end all the way. It is trully repetitive and also it looks bad. Even DS1 and 2 with their classic green PS3 filter look better and more colourful.
2- While doable, playing as a caster is far more difficult than the other two games and elden ring. "It is ez git gud". Well, it maybe easy, but isn't as fun and easy as the others. It feels uncomplete and the entire game was made to be enjoyable with a hammer. If you are a caster, you will basically need to perfect every inch of the game to, maybe, complete it. Especially if you are playing a souls for the first time. Basically the game is not mindedto be played as any kind of caster. A melee game.
So basically there is something wrong with your monitor because the its not all white to me and you want the same easy mode caster that Elden Ring provided for casual fans and are mad that you actually have to try in this game? I mean just take the hour to learn how to dodge and block properly. Its really not that hard. lol
@@NeutralGloomBot wrong. I never said that. And yes, everything is white because is how the game is designed. Saying that you dont see it is simply a lie. I completed the game as a caster, as a melee character and as almost every build possible so, again, you are wrong.
@@pomelomarino7710 Shit maybe its your eyes? I mean I'm just finishing my play through this week and not that white man. lol Idk what to tell you.
@@NeutralGloomBot its not my eyes, it is the fact you are in denial. Compare a screenshot of the most colourful section of the game you find, and compare it with a common section in the other two games ir elden ring. Also it something known. DS3 has a gray/white design. It is intended.
They missed it in terms of balancing things a bit most probably
This is a great game but I do have one gripe with it. The existence and need for embers to have full HP. The game is hard enough without being kneecapped with short health and even with the coins and covetous gold serpent ring farming for embers is infuriating because I would spend three hours for 2 frickin embers to appear and I played the game late so I couldn't even rely on doing online play for easy embers because I could barely ever get summoned or find anyone to duel. Its the only reason I never beat the game. So many close calls with Gael and the Nameless King before running out of embers yet again and just groaning at the thought of how long it would take me just get to one more. lol
You always have full HP. Using an ember just boosts it.
@@ricklubbers1526 no your normal HP is your full HP. You only lose that in death. And regardless of that, it's still just an unnecessary aspect to the game. Without it, ds3 is a 10/10, with it it bumps down to a 9 for me personally
@@NeutralGloomBotit is difficult brother...nameless king is right now ruining me
I'm busy with a naked greatsword strength build run and i've got 52 embers stored. Died 6 times in total so far ( 4 times to lothric princes). When you learn how to dodge you can beat the whole game wearing no armour. I didn't even know ember farming was a thing, never needed to do it. My advice is play offline with a throw away character and just practice dodging everything. Remember to delay your dodging aswell. A lot of enemies telegraph a move which makes you dodge too early and that's why you get caught and die. I've got 700 hours game time and never used a shield. Why would i need to block when i barely get hit thanks to dodging everything.
@@reggieking1045 I actually really like the game and ended up beating it this week, including nameless king and gael, without the embers because i mastered dodging in Bloodborne but was leaning too hard in to blocking and parrying so I ditched the shield and went full one dodge mode and it was so satisfying to finally beat Gael specifically because by the last run, I didn't even get hit once. The lack of embers is annoying but not impossible. I just had an unlucky run imo because I did all the things you are supposed to get embers and barely any would ever show up. lol
Yes, obviously we all recognize these are ai generated scripts, but the ai is correct, ds3 is a masterpiece
First here
No poise, only tired reused assets. 2/10
This game is ass, just like all from software games except for metal wolf chaos. If your into S&M the goto a club that specializes in that and stop begging from software to make games that punish your ass.
If Iudex made you his bitch, do not whine about it here. That's a YOU problem.
The feeling of conquering something presumed to be impossible at a first attempt is the reason for the success of these games. I assure you, these games are not for everyone. It's for those who wish to prove they can handle extreme difficulty.
The only reason people force themselves to like these games is because the bosses give you stockholm syndrom.
The only reason people force themselves to make comments like this is because they couldn't spend beyond the sum total of 5 minutes it wouold take to at least TRY.
Is it anything wrong playing it together with 9 yo?
I think it's a great learning experience.
We need Dark Souls 4 ASAP.
Really hope they think Bout it
