That proprietary cable is reason enough to me to NOT try these out. But I do use the Titanium set. COOL thing: they bypass my hearing loss due to eardrum damage as a kid. I hear everything with bone induction.
It's most likely so that they can be ip67. It's easier to seal them if you don't have to plug a cable in. That leaves you with a magnetic charging cable, and no one seems to have standardized on that. It's the the wild west of cell phones when they were first produced with everyone having their own cable now it's down to usb-c, lightning, and micro-usb. Hopefully the next iteration has induction charging so you don't have to plug them in at all. At they at least they give you 2 cables out of the box, instead of 1 like other manufactures have in the past.
Every usb product I have owned. Always eventually breaks where the usb jack is by wearing out from use and becoming too loose. I welcome the fact this is magnetic and easily attaches. Makes for longer life and better waterproofing.
I have had my aftershocks Air Model for over a year now and I love them I can use them with my hearing aids and not have to worry about anything The biggest thing I would hate about the new model is that proprietary charging cable. If they got rid of that and went with USB C, for example, it would be an easy upgrade to recommend for me.

These sound much better with the ear plugs in if you are looking for more volume and fidelity. I have the Titanium model and love it due to my hearing loss from loud amplifiers in the early part of my music career. These are great because they don't blow the rest of my hearing out like a conventional hearing aid would. Doctor "you have hearing loss from loud volume so let me fit you with a hearing aid that will sit right next to you ear drum and amplify the sound coming in so you can hear it" lol. Do they sound like a $400 set of headphones? No. But they won't destroy your hearing either. The trade off is great for me, and they do sound quite good once you get used to "the sound in your head" rather than the sound in your ears. I love mine. I also use them for watching TV and that way I don't drive my wife crazy with the volume I would need otherwise, and still not be able to hear with the clarity these give me. I will not be upgrading to that proprietary plug though. Thanks for pointing that out. I will order another set of the Titanium's while they are still available.

Interesting. I'm guessing the change in the charging cable is due to the IP67 rating. I have the Air model, but though the longer battery life, better water resistance and lesser bleed-through to the environment is tempting, I'm not having any trouble with the Airs, so I won't be switching. That said, I went from the Bluez 2 to the Air quite recently, so maybe in another one or two model iterations?
Sure tredding water water or dog paddling and not flip turning they should work fine, but as soon the device goes under water such as a flip turn as most competitive swimmers do it will break the music stream. It might be brief(just while it's under water) and that would be fine for me, but most phone will disconnect.
AfterShokz also has another bone conducting headphones coming out soon called Xtrainers(sp?) which are designed for swimming and have 4GB built in memory but no Bluetooth. I wish AfterShokz would come out with bone conducting headphones for swimming with memory and Bluetooth for land use. The problem is that there are other companies that have both memory and Bluetooth for devices for swimming and land but there's always someone complaining why their Blue cuts out everytime the flip turn. Yes, If you have a waterproof bluetooth device that plays music you can connect them to. Like a Garmin watch for example. But you can't swim underwater with them more then 3 feet.
Do the devices have a hearing aid function? A microphone and amplifier to process ambient sound? Some online sellers say that some of them have. Is it really so?
well a usb chargeing block wirh multiple ports means it doesnt really matter if i have to carry an extra cable! my last headphones were microusb but my phone takes usb-c so i can just replace that one on my block with this cable
I run and ride near busy streets. I would compare it to listening to the car radio with the window open: You can hear, but not as clearly. It has to be REALLY loud next to you to completely overwhelm the music.
I wish I found a few thousand quid lying on the floor right now. There are so many gadgets I want to buy, like these, a new phone, a new pair of headphones, ps5 pre order, tube amplifier, iems etc
I am seriously looking at these since i ride electric skateboards and i drive for uber so i need to hear around me. For at home I'll use my wired sennheiser's. If you are not doing things that you need to hear around you then these sound great on paper.
They're the best audio you can get while jogging or cycling. At least for me, in-ears have always been problematic while jogging (and yes, the Shure SE 215 are fairly form fitting), especially since each step sort of reverberates. I mostly use the Shure for public transport or other places I want no noise bleedover. At home, I have beyerdynamics DT 990 Pro.

Hey Shadi, I have the Aftershokz air model (Aeropex is on the way) and I have not noticed any delay at all. It is the same as a wired pair of headphones. I highly recommend it!
@@gonefishing744 Hi, this is my review: Do NOT buy these expecting high sound quality, not even close to it. These are best for people with specific needs. They are nice but if you increase volume level to around 70% you will feel that weird tingling sensation which can be distracting. The fit also is not exactly adjustable. I don't like the stiff neck band. I wish if they replaced it with a simple flexible cable. The microphone is average for phone calls. But, these are simply the most comfortable headset I ever used. I don't tolerate in-ear earbuds for prolonged use. But I can wear these for the whole day and I forget that I am wearing them. They are also safe while driving/biking/running because your ears will be open to hear everything. I think these also can be used for people with some external and middle ear hearing problems as a bluetooth headset that may surpass their hearing limitations. Also no need to take it off/put it on multiple time during the day. Just wear and forget. I hope in the future they can use USB Type-C charging port. I understand the physical/technical and waterproofing limitations but I believe they can do it. They just need to continue improving their products and I believe in few years they can get everything just right. Improvements needed in future models: 1- Increase sound volume without increasing the tingling sensation. 2 - Use a better more flexible, pocket-able and adjustable design. 3- Better Mic quality for phone calls. 4- Use USB Type-C for charging 5- Add the ability to connect to 3 devices at the same time. 6- Bonus: Add a sound pass-through feature, that will make it function as a hearing aid device for people with external and middle ear hearing problems. Moral of the story, I did not regret buying these but they can be better.

I returned my Aftershokz Aeropex today. I bought it yesterday. It was great in every way, except one thing: I expected it to be ONLY bone conduction, and not both bone conduction and the regular in-ear headphone. When I turned it on and put it on the table, it was so loud that I could hear it from outside my room! It was like a loudspeaker. I don't understand why they added the regular in-ear speaker function to it. It was really a pity that I had to return it. Does anyone know any headphone that has ONLY bone conduction sound, and not in-ear sound?
No, I think that I'll stick with the previous or older model ie; the Air version since it's still water resistant and I need Not carry any other charging cord other than the USB Micro C type recharging port as opposed to the new model... + I believe that the battery of the new version isn't as strong or long lasting as with the older model... Having said all the aforementioned, I still wouldn't mind it if I could get the newest version for no other reason than for the, Louder Db music resulting in much Deeper and Richer Base Notes...
According to the official specs, playback has gone from 6 to 8 hours on the newer model, which is a fairly significant improvement. I'm guessing the new proprietary charging port is because it's easier to waterproof it that way.
The reason I want these is so the other side on a phone call will not hear the traffic.. how do they work that? Do these filter background noise in voice calls?
Most important thing to understand is to charge with only a 1 amp or less charger. Yes they come with 2 charging cable but they do not come with the charger. So the one you use must not be s fast charger. Use a 1 amp or less charger. Fast charging will charging will kill them!

I find these great in pretty much every way. The sound quality for music is pretty good - even for classical music. of course over the ear noise cancelling headphones are best for that but these are better than Airpods, etc. in my experience. The only downside is that the multipoint connection doesn't seem to work. I have to re pair to a new source every time even if it's been paired before. Does anyone else have the problem. The multipoint connection has proven very useful for me since I can use for phone calls and listening to sound on my computer but if I have to manually repair every time then I end up not bothering. Really? So would they be good for listening to podcasts at high traffic areas? I'm thinking of buying them but I'm afraid of the ambient noise making it hard to hear podcasts.
It can get dunked in water up to one meter for roughly 30 minutes. It works for light swimming or jogging in the rain, but is not recommended to dive lower than one meter with them or leaving them in water haha.
Definitely will say these work more better if you're out and about, in a isolated hiking trail so nothing can sneak up on you. With my trekz titanium headset it actually saved me from a few close calls while on my bike :)
It's mainly for runners/bikers who want to listen to music but still be able to have an awareness of what's going on around them. Like if a car is coming up behind them
There was a guy who had his noise canceling headphones on and only could hear his music or whatever he was listening to. He walked right in the path of a train. Too bad his headphones block all noise around him. If he had these he could hear what he was listening to as well as the train.
Or uber/lyft drivers who still need to hear within the car, or people who ride electric vehicles like skateboards such as myself. There is a giant market for bone conduction trust me.

4:25 why I'm researching bone conducting headsets lol
I really want to love them but I really do miss the good audio. Struggling here....
@@Steamrick the bose sport open ear buds blow these away in sound quality. But I think Bose is being sabotaged because tghe things are literally hard right plastic with rough sharp seams that dig into your ears. I can't believe they even put them on the market. My aeropex I've used in torrential downpours, and they fit much more comfortable. Definitely more for sport use.
@@cooloutac Two reviews - both say the bose are uncomfortable, one says they're unwearable with glasses on. Couldn't find a video of someone willing to really shake their head around and show them staying on the ear.
Overall, fail for comfort reasons and not being compatible with my eyesight.
can the Air/Aeropex be paired with multiple devices at same time (eg iPhone & iPod), or do you have to delete the pairng from one, in order to pair with the other? Thanks
Up to two I believe
Great review, thanks. 👍
Great review. Is there any noticeable audio lag when watching TH-cam videos? Thank you.
Hey Shadi, I have the Aftershokz air model (Aeropex is on the way) and I have not noticed any delay at all. It is the same as a wired pair of headphones. I highly recommend it!
@@welborn12 Hey, Thank you very much. I already ordered the Aeropex and it is on the way. I am really excited :)
@@shalahmadi did you like them? i'm about to purchase a pair.
Improvements needed in future models:
1- Increase sound volume without increasing the tingling sensation.
2 - Use a better more flexible, pocket-able and adjustable design.
3- Better Mic quality for phone calls.
4- Use USB Type-C for charging
5- Add the ability to connect to 3 devices at the same time.
6- Bonus: Add a sound pass-through feature, that will make it function as a hearing aid device for people with external and middle ear hearing problems.
Moral of the story, I did not regret buying these but they can be better.
@@shalahmadi Hey thanks for the reply that was a well thorough personal review! The reason i want them is for when i drive for uber which is everyday full time and when i ride my electric skateboard around town so i still have at least something to listen to but still be aware. Ill order these, thanks a lot!
do these support aptx/aac or still just SBC?
I really like the trekz air, actually. nice sound to
but, I like to try the aropex.
-Hola, se puede amplicar el sonido ambiente, escuchar hablar a las personas sin el celular, como un audifono para personas cln baja audiccion ???
How's the latency when watching videos like on TH-cam or Netflix?
Virtually none I use them on both my iPhone 10r and my dell Laptop for youtube Spotify and discord with no input lag or latency
i conveniently lost my trekz air. misplaced. i have no fkin clue where they are. Good thing i dont have to replace but "upgrade." it'll hurt less
:/ same here
@@joepinkston6842 new ones come Thursday :D
Honestly i did it because i cant imagine running with anything else. it's just good to hear around myself
Most important thing to understand is to charge with only a 1 amp or less charger. Yes they come with 2 charging cable but they do not come with the charger. So the one you use must not be s fast charger. Use a 1 amp or less charger. Fast charging will charging will kill them!

Aftershokz Suppository, they'll sell a million of them in my city 🤣
How can I get it , I need to buy it and I base in Nigeria precisely Lagos
I'm lost mate. Is it only for Disable ear people or anyone cam use it?
What about wind noise? I like to wear them when i'm on my bike
there is no wind since you hear music in your head.

@@novostipomiru3610 no, i like to have bone conduction headphones so i can still hear the traffic around me but i was wondering if you ride you have less wind noise

Where do I get the charging cord I can't find it anywhere
I currentely have an air. Second pair I have purchased. My last set had the battery take a crap. After this set dies I will not be upgrading. I am not a fan of the charger. I will stick with what I have and buy them at a discount.
Do these connect to android??? Someone tell me pls!!
bluetooth is bluetooth. if your phone has it anything will connect to it.
@@MRFLAPPYTREE I can't believe people still ask these types of questions lol. I do blame all these idiot companies printing "made for iPhone" or having iPhones displayed on the box.
Hello, would this fit under a helmet? Thanks
@Chris Schuler full face street or adventure/mx or downhill/enduro.... kind of the same thing/fit IMHO.
Oh.. yeah ... so BIKE helmets :)
@Chris Schuler I wore the airs under my bike helmet with no issues at all. Very comfortable.
@@JeffBurke I agree 100%. Be careful taking off the helmet though. I believe I recently lost my Air model when it got hooded on the strap as I removed my helmet. On the bright side, I now get to try the aeropex.
How are the phone calls? Can others hear you well?
I have tried it with phone calls and people told me they cannot tell the difference when I use it vs when I simply hold my phone
Is this good for voice chat in gaming ?
no too much delay i would imagine.
Just love my AfterShockz Air
Thank you for your review. I have a question, just bought them took them out of the box and charged... When I went to pair them, Audrey is is a foreign language... Like Chinese or Japanese? How the heck to I switch to English?
You got a counterfeit set.

Wait I can use these in the shower
yes
I find these great in pretty much every way. The sound quality for music is pretty good - even for classical music. of course over the ear noise cancelling headphones are best for that but these are better than Airpods, etc. in my experience. The only downside is that the multipoint connection doesn't seem to work. I have to re pair to a new source every time even if it's been paired before. Does anyone else have the problem. The multipoint connection has proven very useful for me since I can use for phone calls and listening to sound on my computer but if I have to manually repair every time then I end up not bothering. Is this just me or have others experienced this as well?
"Pretty Dinky"
Blast that metal loudddd
Buy yourself pair of 160 latest earbone conductions smoke a joint an be in many places
Luv your accent!

I'd buy a set..
Except for the Propriety charging cable.
That is just absurd.
Who needs another type?
Thank you!
Problem can't use them at work have to wear safety glasses 😭 and can't wear them with any glasses sunny days with sun glasses.. Nope
Nonstandard charging is a deal-breaker for me. I already have too many types.
I just couldn't stop looking at the eyebrows :|
Si des personnes en france le veulent, je peux proposer un parrainage (-10€).
J'utilise ce casque pour courir et pour nager, mais aussi au bureau, il est génial !!!
I just bought a pair They are ok Average sound
I just bought mine but there's nothing like Bose
No usb-c charging. Very disappointing.
Who loves Tech Spurt
Do you know someone with a large head? My noggin’ is pretty big and more than once I’ve had to return such items because all of these things are made for average sized people. Would you get a guy with a melon on his shoulders to try these on and let me know if they fit? Tha
I strech out and wear a l/xl stretch fit cap and have zero issues with the titanium and air models of the aftershokz. Can only imagine these would be roughly the same diameter and with both I do still have plenty of air gap between the back and my upper neck.
Proprietary charger? Hmm no thanks
They also have non-proprietary micro USB on their TREKZ and TREKZ Titanium models.
A proprietary charging cable!?!?!? FUCK THAT SHIT!
Some other guy just said they were a Chinese company.
Had the trex for about a year then the right hand rubber cover fell i have tried contacting aftershokz as it doesnt just slip back on they have not replied so nice headset shame about the service.
You must have bad hearing cause I’ve used my trekz titanium in loud traffic and in cars with windows down and have never once had a problem hearing them 🤷🏼♂️
Really? So would they be good for listening to podcasts at high traffic areas? I'm thinking of buying them but I'm afraid of the ambient noise making it hard to hear podcasts.
Is this waterproof?
It can get dunked in water up to one meter for roughly 30 minutes. It works for light swimming or jogging in the rain, but is not recommended to dive lower than one meter with them or leaving them in water haha.
Unicorn spank🤪
Hm
Won't buy due to the proprietary charge cable.....just one more cable to lose.

Why not bluetooth? thats is a letdown
Man you talk way way too fast
looks cool but not that useful...
Definitely will say these work more better if you're out and about, in a isolated hiking trail so nothing can sneak up on you. With my trekz titanium headset it actually saved me from a few close calls while on my bike :)
@@Brando501st I wish I had some conducting headphones when I used to bike several years ago. Probably would've saved me from a couple of crashes.
Unless, you do things where you need to hear your surroundings, but who does that lol.
What's the point ? Listening to the outside world is going to destroy the music experience. Or, perhaps I am missing something?
It's mainly for runners/bikers who want to listen to music but still be able to have an awareness of what's going on around them. Like if a car is coming up behind them
I use it in my everyday life. I like to hear my surroundings when I walk in neighbourhoods, cross the road, drive, cook, work at work and bike.
There was a guy who had his noise canceling headphones on and only could hear his music or whatever he was listening to. He walked right in the path of a train. Too bad his headphones block all noise around him. If he had these he could hear what he was listening to as well as the train.
I work security and mainly listen to podcasts with mine but it’s perfect for when you NEED to hear the outside world.
Or uber/lyft drivers who still need to hear within the car, or people who ride electric vehicles like skateboards such as myself. There is a giant market for bone conduction trust me.
Sucks,12 hour 2020 version mine just died after 2 years now I can't find 😫 12 hour only there shite 8 hour .
