I was researching bone conduction headphones because a couple of coworkers use them at work and it bypasses our bosses policy about not having earbuds on the job. They both got the aftershocks but I liked that there are other great value options like the x-14. Thanks and great job!

I received my TYLEX Open-ear Conductive Headphones cost about $35.00.
These headphones work good for me. Some difficulty hearing low tone sounds in Classical music. They really vibrate my bones. The sound is reasonably good. I will use them for listening to music, audiobooks and TH-cam. I enjoy Mozart music in the background while I am reading.

Seth, I have bought a few X14s since watching your video almost a year ago. 1 was the Relaxyo, then as a test, 2 as gifts from different sellers. There is a noticeable difference in sound quality and greeting volume/language. I can't identify which are the newer (=better?). As you mention in subsequent videos, they may not be the most comfortable things after a couple of hours. I spent a little(too much) on a variety of headsets. I think you'll like the G7 on Ebay, even with it's magnetic cable. BTW I saw another reviewer doing the facedance while figuring out how to wear :)

I do wish people would stop giving phone companies a pass for removing features. Removing a headphone plug doesn't make the phone any thinner or smaller, just cheaper (and that cost savings NEVER gets passed on to the user)... Or removing truly needed features like SD slots. I may have to give up the 1/8" plug someday, but I won't EVER buy a phone that doesn't support SD (or other standard) memory expansion.
    -steps off soapbox-
Thanks for doing this review. I have the Aeropex (Openrun), that I use at work. I work in a steel stamping shop and we are required to wear earplugs. So BC headphones let me kind of skirt the rules while still making sure my boss can call me if he needs to get a hold of me. But I've forgotten them a few times and had been looking at getting a backup pair to keep in my lunchbox if I forgot my main set. I'd been hesitant to drop $140 for a spare set, and I think I'll order a set of the X14s for that job now.
    Thanks for the review.

BC-1, X-14, and N1 are all entry-level products, and there is no doubt that among these four products, Openrun is the best (it is also the most expensive). I have my own Openrun Pro, which has good sound quality and comfortable wearing. However, this year, I switched to Wissonly Hi Runner, not because Openrun is not good, but because I need a headphone that can be used in swimming, Hi Runner's IPX8 waterproof level, and MP3 mode, which meets my needs. The sound quality and wearing comfort are similar to Openrun Pro. So, now I'm using Openrun Pro at home, Wissonly Hi Runner for running or swimming

    Hi Seth,
I could not find the TouchBone X14 conduction earphone on Amazon, even using your convenient links. It took me to a listing for a Moing brand, that I was pleasantly surprised to learn I had already purchased over a year ago and was looking to replace because I have misplaced them..
And to make matters even better they were on sale $22 off the regular price so I got them for $35 including sales tax.
Getting back to the problem: it seems to me that Amazon is blackballing Touch Bone for some reason. I was really looking forward to getting the TouchBone X14 that won your review and has a USB-C charging connector. I will keep looking.

@@theeproducer9153 is really hard to tell and very individual. For me, it feels a bit better since the sound/Tinnitus level is better (louder "real" sound slightly drowns out the tinnitus BEEEEEEEP ). I also just got proper hearing aids that help me even more. They are top quality Phonak Audeo p90-rt. My hearing loss is on both sides but much worse on the right side. My Shokz makes it better, but the proper hearing aid beats it (and is a lot more expensive depending on health system in the country you live in.) I live in Sweden and apart from having shitty weather for a large part of the year, the health services are great 😁
If you have the means to get Shokz I do recommend them. I think they still do a great job even tho my devices mainly are connected to my Phonaks. Ideally, you have a friend to borrow a set from, or a great store where you can try them out for a bit.

I have gone through 5 pairs of cheaper Bone Conductive headphones on the $25 to $50 price range then went with the Shokz OpenCom and OpenRun Pros. Their noise filtering on transmitting really sets them apart. They kind of use bone conduction in reverse. Only transmitting as your speak / feels the vibration through the bone connectivity then stopping as soon as you stop speaking. Would have liked to see your talk test with a noisy background to compare with the others

My mum has has the shokz openmove (their cheaper version) for 1 year, still works like brand new. And they are not treated gently, she destroyed every other type of headphone/earphone she had before then, either lost wireless buds, damaged the cable on wired, etc. She's already saved so much money on not having to buy new USB-C headphones every few weeks, went from being super skeptical of this weird new bone conduction tech to absolutely swearing by them & convincing heaps of her friends to buy them - especially because of the durability. She uses hers for calls, not exercise, but lots of lying on the band when sitting in bed, hangs them up around a lamp which stretches the band, but the titanium band is honestly amazing durability wise. Battery life is still amazing, even though the openmove have the smallest battery/talk time & slowest charging, & she leaves it on charge 24/7 when not in use.
I seriously can't fault the build quality or reliability, even with pretty rough care from someone who has a knack for breaking tech products. It's a running joke in our family. I just bought the openrun myself, was happy with the openmove for my use (mostly calls) but snagged an upgrade while they were on sale. Didn't even consider another brand thanks to the reliability & solid build. Bass is obviously lacking but thats more a limit of bone conduction, not the brand or design

  • @pjaypender1009
    @pjaypender1009 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

The idea that anyone has got to 2023 still using wired headphones blows my mind. Both bone conduction and air conduction dying to into the ear. Bone conduction loses some bass but air conduction rivals any in ear buds.
I haven't used wired headsets in more than 15 years.
I recommend Shokz, either OpenRun Pro (bone conduction) or OpenFit (air conduction), Mojawa Run Plus (bone conduction), or Oladance OWS2 (air condiction).
Bluetooth can't penetrate water, so unless a headset has storage you can put music on (which the Mojawa Run Plus does, they also make them waterproof. Shokz makes a great--OpenSwim--that can be worn swimming, but you have to save music to it because Bluetooth can't penetrate water.
If bass matters to you buy air conduction.
You get what you pay for.

The only “in ear” I’ll wear are Sony WI-XB400 that are connected together by a wire that has the volume control & charging port on the connecting wire plus they clip together magnetically so I can’t lose them. But I stil hate “in ear” & just wish that Apple or somebody would make quality EarPod style on the ear with the magnetic clip & connecting Bluetooth cable of the Sony so I couldn’t drop them.

I have a big head too. I really want to try some bone conduction headphones because I get a lot of ear infections. I already wear over-ear headphones rather than anything in-ear, but I still worry that headphones of any kind might be providing a breeding environment for the nasties that keep attacking my ears. So feel like bone conduction could be a good alternative. I wish there were a comfortable set for wearing in bed (especially sleeping on my side)

There's actually a good solution for using bone conduction for bed that I found on AliExpress. I'll be making a video for them very soon so keep an eye out for that.

Thanks for the review. Just ordered through your link. Looking forward to trying them out. My ears are so sensitive, I can't stand anything in them or touching them for long periods of time. I hope these work out unfortunately, I LOVE my bass and it seems this type of headphone isn't great for that but I'm getting them for sleeping , so we'll see. If I remember, I'll try to come back and update for others.

received a pair of pro's yesterday. Disappointed in the pro version for bass. Maybe sending them back. I have a Bose soundwear and the monster boomerang that I like better for open air audio, music that I enjoy bass. Still looking for a better open air alternative to the preferred Bose soundwear since it's been discontinued in my pair are starting to show their age plus when watching movies the audio lags at times more with the Bose since they use older blue tooth versions. Honestly I think the said base response in the pros is a gimmick. I'm don't experience much bass at all other than they're good sounding speakers that are designed to project into the ear canal

  • @mikekimmen4730
    @mikekimmen4730 ปีที่แล้ว +1

As many times you would charge it with a USB-C, you would ruin the port on the headphone in no time. The magnetic connecter is great. No dirt can ruin the connection and you can hook up very easily even in complete darkness. You can also purchase extra charging cables for $10 to $12 apiece. I have had my AfterShokz for over a year and I even sleep with them on while I listen to Podcasts. I wish all cell phones went with the magnetic connecters, but Hey, anything to help out the service industry to repair your port. NOT!!!

Those touchbone x14’s seem like they’re Chinese knockoffs off the now discontinued Shokz Trekz Titanium. I had two pairs of the Titanium and only issue I had was they weren’t waterproof and had a small seam on them that was the failure point on both pairs when it finally separated after two years. They can still be gotten for about $79.99 on Amazon and only reason I’m not getting a third pair is because I want some that are actually waterproof.

Poor durability on the Shokz! I've had the older model Shokz for less than 2 years and I'm on my 3rd, that's right, 3rd warranty repair! I take care of these and the buttons fail, the charging fails and the transducer has come loose so it sounds like a bee in your ear. I do like them, when they work but they are very cheaply made for what they cost.

I like how these work as you can clearly hear what is going on around you so they are also great if you take a bus or subway or work out or jog or whatever. I also use them for a headset for zoom calls. The shocks I have I bought for about $75 on amazon

    Very good review.
The problem I read about Shokz on many reviews is thier warranty is bogus. If it was a US company I would buy at that price. They make these for $5 and sale them for over $125 and do not cover there warranty!
They are too far for anyone to sue Shokz as they are in China. I will go with X14. For $35 it won’t be a big loss.

They are just as you described, comfortable and sound very good. For the price, one cannot go wrong.

X14 still sound great for everyday listening and exercising. I was almost disappointed as they were not comfortable when watching Tv in bed as the back-loop are not meant to handle any pressure, they actually heart after a small amount of time.
Fortunately I found a good solution: instead of wearing them behind my head while watching tv I wear the X14 loop below my chin, letting the speaker fit on each side of the ear-bone, basically where there are meat to be located.
