Thiruvenniru: Anything ending at the end means gray. Tiruneiru is unchanging and immortal. It signifies the immortality of souls. The earring in the right ear and earring in the left ear represents the form of Ardhanareeswara. The third eye of the third eye. It represents wisdom of time. In Ananda Thandavam Nataraja's kesam flies in many directions. Seshanagam - time that flows without stopping, Kapalam - The Rudra form of the Lord and the Ganges on His head signify His inexhaustible grace.The ring of fire around Nataraja represents his dance into the enlightenment. Three small flames can be seen in each Dijwali. It signifies three periods. The tiger skin around the middle shows the power of nature. Sun, Moon and Fire are the eyes of Lord Shiva.Crescent on the 5th - indicates that He is not only the Lord of destruction but also the Lord of creation.The 'double lotus' pedestal where Nataraja Raja stands is called 'Mahambuja Peedam'. It is said that the universe expands from this pedestal. The demon 'Apasmara' under the right leg is represented as the personification of arrogance and delusion.This monster lying trampled under the foot of the Lord is called Muyalakan in Tamil. He is also called 'Apasmaran'. He is bent and writhing and lying at an angle. The word 'Apasmaram' means 'bent and wriggling'. This figure is Dakshinamurthy and in forms of Shiva such as Natarasara, situated at Lord Shiva's feet. A muyalagan represents arrogance and egotism. Lord Shiva, who is the form of wisdom, is meant to destroy arrogance and ego.
நடராஜரின் நடன இயக்கமே இவ்வுலக இயக்கமாக கூறப்படுகிறது. சிவபெருமானின் நடன அசைவில் ஏராளமான தத்துவங்கள் நிறைந்துள்ளன.நடராஜரின் உருவ தத்துவங்களை தான் இப்பதிவில் நாம் காணவிருக்கிறோம்.சிவபெருமானின் நடனத்தோற்றம் படைத்தல், காத்தல், அழித்தல், மறைத்தல், அருளல் என்னும் ஐந்தொழில்களைக் குறிகிறது.நடராஜபெருமானின் உடுக்கை, படைத்தலையும், அபயம் தரும் கை, காத்தலையும், தீச்சுவாலை, அழித்தலையும்,தூக்கிய திருவடி அருளலையும்,ஊன்றிய திருவடி மறைத்தலையும் குறிக்கிறது.திருமுகம் : எல்லையற்ற பேரழகினை குறிக்கிறது.குமிண்சிரிப்பு: அடைக்கலம் புகுந்தோரை,அருளோடு வரவேற்று, அருள்செய்வதை குறிக்கிறது.பனித்தசடை: சடை சிவநெறிக்குரிய தவ ஒழுக்கச் சிறப்பினை சுட்டுகின்றது.திருவெண்ணீறுஎப்பொருளும் இறுதியில் எய்தும் நிலை சாம்பல் என்பதை குறிக்கிறது. திருநீறு மற்றொன்றாக மாறி அழியாது. இது ஆன்மாக்களின் அழிவற்ற நிலையை குறிக்கிறது.வலக்காதில் குழையும், இடக்காதில் தோடும் அணிந்திருப்பது அணிந்திருப்பது அர்த்தநாரீஸ்வர வடிவத்தை குறிக்கிறது. தோடு அணிந்த செவி உமையம்மையை உணர்த்துகிறது. முக்கண்ணனின் மூன்றாவது கண். முக்காலத்தையும் கடந்த ஞானத்தை குறிக்கிறது.ஆனந்த தாண்டவத்தில்நடராஜரின் கேசம் பல திசைகளிலும் பறக்கிறது.சேஷநாகம் - நிற்காமல் ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் காலத்தையும்,கபாலம்- இறைவனுடைய ருத்ர ரூபத்தையும், சிரசில் இருக்கும் கங்கை இவரது வற்றாத பேரருளையும் குறிக்கிறது.ஐந்தாம் நாள் பிறைச்சந்திரன் - அழிப்பது மட்டுமல்ல, ஆக்கத்திற்கும் இவரே கர்த்தா என்பதை உணர்த்துகிறது.நடராஜரை சுற்றி இருக்கும் நெருப்பு வளையம் ஞானவெளியில் தாண்டவாமடுவதை காட்டுகிறது.நடராஜரை சுற்றி இருக்கும் நெருப்பு வளையம் ஞானவெளியில் தாண்டவாமடுவதை காட்டுகிறது.இடையை சுற்றி இருக்கும் புலித்தோல், இயற்கையின் சக்தியை காட்டுகிறது. சூரியன், சந்திரன், அக்கினி ஆகிய முச்சுடரே சிவபெருமானின் மூக்கண்களாக உள்ளது.பின் வலது கரத்தில் கையில் இருக்கும் உடுக்கையின் ஒலியிருந்து ப்ரணவ நாதம் தோன்றியது என்பார். உடுக்கையின் ஒருபக்கத்திலிருந்து தமிழும், மறுபக்கத்திலிருந்து சமஸ்கிருதமும் தொன்றியது.ஆடவல்லான் தெற்கு நோக்கியே ஆடுகின்றார். யமபயத்தை நீக்குவதற்காக என்று குறிப்பிடபடுகிறது. தென் தமிழின் மீதும் உள்ள விருப்பாலும் தெற்கு நோக்கி இறைவன் ஆடுகின்றார் என திருவிளையாடற் புராணத்தில் பரஞ்சோதி முனிவர். கூறுகிறார்.சிதம்பரம் ஆலயத்தில் நடராஜரின் சபை இதய ஸ்தானத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. நமது இதயத்தில் தான் அவரது நடனம் நிகழ்கிறது என்று குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறதுநடராஜராஜன் நின்றாடும் 'இரட்டைத் தாமரை' பீடத்தின் பெயர் 'மஹாம்புஜ பீடம்'. இந்த பீடத்திலிருந்துதான் அண்ட சராசரமும் விரிவடைகிறது என்கிறார்கள்.வலது காலின் கீழே இருக்கும் 'அபஸ்மாரன்' எனும் அசுரன் - ஆணவம், மற்றும் மாயையின் உருவமாக குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறான்.முன் இடது கரமோ யானையின் துதிக்கைபோல் வலைந்திருக்கிறது. கஜஹஸ்தம் என்று அழைக்கப்படும்இக்கரமானது தூக்கிய திருவடியை சுட்டிகாட்டி சரணாகதி தத்துவத்தை உணர்த்துகிறது.அபஸ்மாரன் நடராஜரின் தூக்கிய திருவடியை பார்த்தவாறு இருக்கிறான். நம்மிடத்தில் இருக்கும் அசுரனாகிய மும்மலங்களும் அழிந்தால் மோக்சமாகிய வீடுபேற்றை அடையலாம் என்பதை குறிப்பால் உணர்த்துகிறது.
