I've been working on this video for the past 5 months. This is the biggest thing I've ever written or directed and it was a dream come true for me. I hope I get to make more of these but, more importantly, I hope you love it. Thank you so much for watching!

This is so incrediably good. I have been a fan of all Vsauce's channels for 3 years but I have never seen something like that. This takes it to a new level. Jake Roper you are really doing your best but most importantly you are enjoying what you are doing and that makes it even better. And the fact that it's free is even better.

Eh. Everyone has their own taste. For one, there are millions of children far more interested in video games than older films like Mad Max. Calling that 'Sad' is kinda pretentious. Second, I like informative videos, but this is a tad overproduced. I guess it makes the 30min run time more bearable, but it also makes this video 2x longer than it needs to be. I see why this is a series he has wanted to make forever, but I'm not super interested, personally. Still good content, just not gonna attract 10/10 people
Everyone would love this if they saw it. If youtube decides to make this a youtube red series or to stop making it because of the low views, they should remember that its because of their broken algorithm and useless notification system. Outstanding work Jake.

I would say this is just like mythbusters as a compliment! I've personally missed mythbusters content. I would even suggest them to invite adam or jamie as a cameo just to give the show the seal of approval from the OG. That would be great!

imo this is nothing like Mythbusters. The story aspect and having the science facts come as kind of like 4th wall breaks is great and quite original actually. And it's Jake's style.

I stumbled on it 'cuz Michael from Vsauce suggested it on Dong, at the end of a video that was completely unrelated.
The entire video brings back memories from Mythbusters... Explaining science in a funny and entertaining way, triggering curiosity, having a blast (quite literally!), basically making maths, biology and physics easier to understand while learning something. Amazing work, and insane quality content! I hope we'll see more of these, it's obvious you all put a lot of effort into it and it pays off! :)

Pewdiepie looks at memes for 15 minutes and easily gets 2 million views in a day. Jake Roper makes an amazing video about Mad Max that took 5 months to make* and gets less than 400k views in 3 days. I do watch Pewdiepie, but I'm aware of the insane diminishing returns of spending effort on TH-cam. * those 5 months include some more videos though
Great videos like this one make me realize how far TH-cam has come, and not seeing it in the top 10 trending would be a huge disappointment! Good job Jake!
@RossCobo I concur but that's because most TH-cam videos are short. For longer videos, content creators should not take chances as viewers start to lose interest after 10 minutes...attention is a scarce resource.

One question I have about Mad Max: it talks about how the world got destroyed by (petrochemical) fuel wars, so why exactly is everyone driving around in cars and using flamethrowers? If there isn't a gasoline shortage, couldn't they add something to their car that collects the water vapour gained from burning gasoline? If my chemistry knowledge is still correct, burning 1 litre (703 grams) of octane gives you about 997 grams of water (a very significant amount, considering how much gasoline they use in the movie). I don't know if this was addressed in the movie, because I haven't watched it, but from what I've seen (trailers) it just looks like they wanted to make an apocalyptic driving movie and didn't care about logic.
I've seen mad max fury road, and no they dont address it in the movie. Other ones maybe? But yeah the main principle of the movie is that everyone has lost their mind. The bad guys principle is to have big, fast, armored vehicles to be able to defend, attack and steal from rival gangs. So we can assume that no one thinks clearly anymore, it's the apocalypse.
I heard from somewhere that it's because the villains want to show that they are fearless and powerful, and that there is no consequence to them wasting their own resources due to their own sheer dominance. Or something like that.
In Fury Road at least there's a settlement around a refinery called Gas Town, and the Citadel where Immortan Joe was HQ'd they traded water for gasoline from Gas town and ammunition from a mine called the Bullet Farm

Most of the technology in Mad Max is extremely basic due to it being a wasteland, and education basically being nonexistent. Plus in theory (because we never actually see it) if Gas Town had access to an oil depot or oil farm and oil refinery they could supply tons of gasoline for the cars. Considering we see maybe 100 or 200 cars and motorcycles at most throughout the film, they could run that fleet for quite some time before they ran out of gasoline.

I got youtube premium because it allows me to play content on my phone with the screen off which saves me on remaining data and battery power.
I've been really tempted to have youtube premium mainly because of that feature. If only I have money.

Pewdiepie looks at memes for 15 minutes and easily gets 2 million views in a day. Jake Roper makes an amazing video about Mad Max that took 5 months to make* and gets less than 400k views in 3 days. I do watch Pewdiepie, but I'm aware of the insane diminishing returns of spending effort on TH-cam.

@RossCobo I concur but that's because most TH-cam videos are short. For longer videos, content creators should not take chances as viewers start to lose interest after 10 minutes...attention is a scarce resource.

One question I have about Mad Max: it talks about how the world got destroyed by (petrochemical) fuel wars, so why exactly is everyone driving around in cars and using flamethrowers?
If there isn't a gasoline shortage, couldn't they add something to their car that collects the water vapour gained from burning gasoline? If my chemistry knowledge is still correct, burning 1 litre (703 grams) of octane gives you about 997 grams of water (a very significant amount, considering how much gasoline they use in the movie).
I don't know if this was addressed in the movie, because I haven't watched it, but from what I've seen (trailers) it just looks like they wanted to make an apocalyptic driving movie and didn't care about logic.
I've seen mad max fury road, and no they dont address it in the movie. Other ones maybe?
But yeah the main principle of the movie is that everyone has lost their mind.
The bad guys principle is to have big, fast, armored vehicles to be able to defend, attack and steal from rival gangs.
So we can assume that no one thinks clearly anymore, it's the apocalypse.
I heard from somewhere that it's because the villains want to show that they are fearless and powerful, and that there is no consequence to them wasting their own resources due to their own sheer dominance. Or something like that.
In Fury Road at least there's a settlement around a refinery called Gas Town, and the Citadel where Immortan Joe was HQ'd they traded water for gasoline from Gas town and ammunition from a mine called the Bullet Farm

Most of the technology in Mad Max is extremely basic due to it being a wasteland, and education basically being nonexistent. Plus in theory (because we never actually see it) if Gas Town had access to an oil depot or oil farm and oil refinery they could supply tons of gasoline for the cars. Considering we see maybe 100 or 200 cars and motorcycles at most throughout the film, they could run that fleet for quite some time before they ran out of gasoline.
