GIBRALTAR | The Best Day Trip From Malaga, Spain

  • Gibraltar is a British territory, a 2 hour drive from Malaga, Spain. Gibraltar is famous for its military forts hidden within the Rock of Gibraltar, a nearly 1,400 ft tall limestone ridge jutting up from the Mediterranean sea. After going through border control and getting our passports stamped, we ate a full english breakfast and hiked to the top of The Rock. Although we took the road up to the top, we hiked down the Mediterranean steps with some of the sketchiest stairs we have ever seen.

    Hi throughly enjoyed your video I am a Gibraltarian and would like to offer my apologies for the way you were all treated at the entrance to the Nature Reserve and commend you for the way you reacted and refused to let this ruin your day If you ever decided to return to my homeland please let me know and I will pick the four of you up at the frontier and drive you round the Rock By the way I appear on your video I am the cyclist with the red Gilet waiting the same as you all were to cross the airfield !

      You are in the video! How cool is that! No way were we going to let a grouchy ticket seller ruin our day in this beautiful place. Thank you so much for the future hospitality. Traveling to Morocco is on our bucket list and taking a ferry from Gibraltar sounds like an excellent idea. We love meeting with locals and will for sure remember you and this comment when we return to the area. Thanks for watching!

    Another great video! I took the ferry from there into Morocco -FYI you get your passport stamped that shows you entered by boat). It was before internet on phones and I told my friend when I dropped her off in Spain... "this Rick Steves book says I can get to Morocco by ferry, I'm gonna try it. I love not having an itinerary.

    Howdy! I was there in May 2022 via cruise. I took the cable car 1-way and walked down through the Battery, tunnel, St Michael's cave, etc. However, I didn't go down the Mediterranean steps. Heading back there again this April on new Sun Princess, and this time, I'll cross from Gibraltar to Spain and back for the stamp:). Then go up to the rock via Med Steps since ship will be there 0700 hours to 1700 hours. Did you like the black pudding? Thanks for sharing!

    Ha Ha, we ate at Jury's too. We were told to have an English breakfast. Beware of the monkeys, they are pick pocket. We witnessed one monkey skillfully unzipped a woman's back pack and removing items. When the couple realized it and tried to take back items, the monkey scratched the woman's arm with its long nails. The couple did not do anything to provoke or attract the monkeys.

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Jury's was a great find! We just happened to stumble in since it was open and had breakfast. We were a little weary of the monkeys which is why I think we did not stick around to long to film them. So much fun to see them but usually don't get that close to wildlife of any kind. Thanks for watching!

  • @richardupton3323
    @richardupton3323 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If anyone dosent want to do all this walking to see the sights the best way is to get a minibus from the centre of gibraltar. It costs 30 to 40 euros and includes travel to th top of the rock and all attractions like st michaels cave etc. The cable car alone is about 20 return.

    I think most of the subs came for vanlife in a class B. We stayed for SUVlife and that was a challenge. This travel vlog is good but I'm not subbed to any travel vlogs aside from this. I'm thankful for the travel content in vehicles. God bless.

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sad to see a sub go! Although we grew to really love van life and may return to living in a vehicle in the future, our current travel is what we always dreamed of doing. Our story began in a vehicle, but budget travel in all forms is what we enjoy sharing with the world. Thanks for watching.

    I'm from the U.K But lived in Gibraltar many years ago, a shame you couldn’t spend longer there is a lot more to see, Many fun British bars and restaurants, Main Street King street, The bastions, caves More roads tunnelled in the rock then roads on the outside, the British tunnelled since 1701-14. The whole thing is a fortress since the battle of Trafalgar controlling the strategic bottleneck of the Mediterranean . It was also the staging point for the invasion of Spain by the Moorish in 711, Maybe next time you can spend longer, also Shame about the ticket guys' attitude as Gibraterinas are usually very friendly.

    You know that in the UK, people drive on the left, but in the UK territory of Gibraltar, people still drive on the right.

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very cool! We rode in the taxi and didn't even notice. If they drove on the right in Gibraltar, it would make driving across the tarmac even more interesting.

    • @DVaccarelli1988
      @DVaccarelli1988 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SOSASATSUNRISE When you meant that they drove on the right, that would mean that the steering wheel would be on the right, like in a UK vehicle. The taxi that you guys were in was a Ford Transit Custom, which is a mid sized version of the Transit that's not sold in the US & Canada.

    Was this pre-trucker strike? I'm trying to go to Gibraltar from Malaga in May and all the routes to La Linea are blocked off and Avanza's website has no bus routes :(

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow, had no idea there was a possibility of a strike. This was filmed in December 2021 and from a quick google search it looks like we got lucky with our timing. You can maybe try blablacar or rent a car for the day to get down there from Malaga. We took blablacar from Madrid to Malaga and it worked out really well for us. Good luck and I hope you make it down there. Thanks for watching.
